Cody had our Macbook March 15- July 6.
He said the screen repair would take a few hours…
We ordered the screen for replacement from the company he told us to use, he said it came broken but tried to use it anyways and wrecked it completely. After I shipped it back to the company they said it was physically damaged and could not exchange or refund for the part.
Cody then did offer to find another screen at his cost, which after months he said he wasn’t able to find one. In the mean time we had reached out multiple times to arrange pick up or our computer to take elsewhere. We had talked to 3 other techs for quotes and all of them said the whole top lid needed to be replaced NOT just the LCD.
Cody made it very hard to be able to pick up our computer, which we wanted to do before moving over an hour away.
Since Cody couldn’t find a screen for our Macbook he did offer to swap our hard drive over to an old macbook he had sitting around for parts. When we asked for details on that computer we didn’t get a response on anything other than “Pretty old, has a functional screen, hence no charge”
Now we understand not replying during non business hours, however we should be able to get a reply on the next business day in a timely manner. We reached out 4 times between June 22 and July 4 to try and continue to arrange pick up for our unfixed, unusable laptop.
Finally on July 4 we were able to get a response to which Cody had sent a rude text saying he didn’t reply to us because we didn’t message during business hours.
Cody did try to find a solution which is why it’s a 1 star review not 0.
However, after leaving this review Cody has sent extremely ignorant and unprofessional text messages to me, using phrases like “irritable”and “entitled”. Which after not having our $1500 computer for 5 months who wouldn’t continue to reach out to pick it up and take it elsewhere.
Yes we didn’t pay for the screen removal but we paid to order the screen that Cody said “fell apart in his hands” and were still out $200 for a repair that didn’t get done.
We had come to the agreement Once Cody had ordered the new screen and it was in place we would pay for the labour. This was one of the solution Cody offered us - We did not ask him for this, he offered to order the screen at his own cost. We went with that option over us ordering it again ourselves so we did not have to be in between Cody and the company where the screen came from. We were more than willing to pay for the on our done once our laptop was fixed!
If asking questions about a computer he offered for replacement, wanting updates about our repair and finally just wanting to pick up our Macbook before moving away is difficult then so be it.
We have since taken our laptop elsewhere for repair which was done in less than 3 days from ordering the screen, installing it and is receiving our laptop back.
