I've dealt with CDC for over 15 years now. Having made my living off of the internet since before most people knew what the internet was, I was looking for a shop that was more user-friendly than the big box stores, and over the years I've noted that the techies at CDC aren't afraid to come out from the back and talk to you, about specs, recommending components, accessories, etc. Their whole showroom is set up to inspire conversation about everything computer and entertainment related. Timely service, knowledgeable staff, friendly, helpful, and they don't nickel-and-dime you when it's on them to fix something or make a situation right. The custom-build computer they put together for me a few years back is still working wonders for me. I'll be getting back in there soon for upgrades. I needed a new laptop quick so I hit the usual spots such as bestbuy and memory express but couldnt get anyone to help me. I went to CDC and was greeted the moment I walked in. I was shown a few laptops and explained the differences between them. They were able to transfer all of my files from my old laptop on the spot. While I waited they even showed me how to use their virtual reality system and let me mess around with it. Great service, great products, great prices. Definitely recommend checking them out!

These guys are AWESOME!! Not only did they greet me at the door with a smile, they insisted on carrying my computer for me which is the only place I've been to that has offered that. Awesome experience. Went black Friday to inquire about making my laptop faster. Ended up returning on Saturday, having the best educational serfvice with Dan Stefanovski, and ended up buying a new laptop which is much better than what I had. Dan was so good, knew his stuff completely, and didn't push any sales. I immediately wanted to upgrade the laptop with a SSD modification, Dan basically talked me out of it and said if I really need it come back Monday! I love the honesty of this guy and this place. Very good experience, and friendly knowledgeable staff. I brought my computer in for a diagnosis because it was running very slow and having issues with the battery life. After figuring out that my hard drive was failing they gave me different options on how to go about fixing it and what options I had for replacement hard drives. They did have my computer for a week or two as they had to order the replacement hard drive in but I didn’t mind because once I got it back it worked like new if not better and the price they charged for it I thought was very fair.

This place is a scam, DO NOT GO HERE. I took my Mac Pro in as it was acting up. They did a diagnostic and they said nothing was wrong with it. Then they said they needed to reinstall a new operating system for 150 DOLLARS which is ridiculous when Mac OS Lion is 30 dollars from Apple. So I decided not to pay as I knew it was only 30 dollars from Apple. Went home and found out that the gpu was having issues proving their so called “diagnosis test” was wrong. So I did everything my self and fixed it instead of having to pay 150 for a new OS and finding out it would still be broken. THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS AND DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM.

Even after calling repeatedly every day just to see if there was any new on my computer's repair, they were patient, always took the time to answer my questions and were generally interested in my custom build. I brought my computer into CDC after I took it to bestbuy and they told me my motherboard was broken and needed to be replaced, So I went to CDC and immediately I had someone actively debugging and trying to troubleshoot my computer, within 5 mins he had it working again, and I didn't need a new motherboard, in fact BestBuy had damaged my motherboard. I love the fact that they were taking things out, testing components making sure they were working, all in front of me. their a bunch of cons DO NOT trust them i took my ps3 in for repair they told me they tried everything they could including replacing parts and cleaning but said i had to throw it out however once i took it home i found that the manufacture's seal wasn't even broken meaning it was impossible for them to have done any of that i took it to a guys house off of kijiji and about 2 hours and $30 later it was fixed and only needed a cleaning and a new HDMI plug in other words id trust a random guy off the net before them lol

EXTREME OVER PRICED and REFUSE TO PRICE MATCH I was in CDC Computers store on 04 January 2022 and I was looking for a 4TB Seagate Skyhawk hard drive which they had in inventory. I believe the sales associate stated it was over $300 for the hard drive. I asked if I could see the hard drive. He showed me the 4TB Seagate Skyhawk model# ST4000VX007. I stated amazon.ca were selling the exact model for $124.99 and asked if he could price match. The sales associate stated he couldn’t price match the local Best Buy, or Amazon or any other Canadian retailer. He said the cheapest he could sell the Skyhawk was for $199.99. He refused to price match any store because they had it too cheap for them to price match. I know some retail stores will price match only if it is local but CDC Computer won’t even do that. I’m not sure why CDC Computers were selling the 4TB Skyhawk for such a steep price (over $300) when other Canadian retailers were selling them for less than $200. Both Best Buy and Memory Express have a price match guarantee with other Canadian stores which they honored to me without issue. I will never step foot in CDC Computers ever again since I believe they are price gouging customers and refuse to price match other canadian retailers (local included).

Great service. Memory Express said my laptop battery couldn't be replaced as its internal. Cdc did it . Edit. The battery stopped working after maybe 2 months max. A new battery was ordered. I was given the machine to use with no battery. Was working fine. 3 months later still no replacement battery and machine stopped working. They told me they put a new battery in an that wasn't the issue. Possibly mother board ect an would look at cheaper options. Its almost 8 months an not one person from cdc has phoned me back regarding my laptop.

Laptop would turn on just fine apron pick up, using my own power source. Nearly $400 later all I have is an external hard drive with my data, and a computer that won’t turn on. Seems like a suspicious money scam!! Was told on the phone that it world cost $60 best case scenario, $80 worst case, in order to retrieve the data. Absolute worst case if it didn’t turn on, it’d need to be shipped away for repair at $800-$1300. Once in store, that 60/80 best worst case scenario turned into $400 (less $99 for the hardrive) Now I have a computer that doesn’t turn on. Thanks NOT!!!

Hi,to readers out there. A few words about CDC Computers,Winnipeg. Why I gave it 5 Stars? A month ago,water spilled on my MacBook Pro and as Usual, Apple didn't care a damn except offer me a choice to buy a new one. So, I didn't give up and thought lets give CDC a try,lets see if these guys can fix this problem. I went to CDC Computers and was received very well, Cameron ( service Supervisor) took a keen interest to find out what happened to my comp and promised to fix it with a new key board in 2 weeks. But it didn't work out as promised. It turned out that my macbook was the latest model and he had quoted me for an older model key board replacement. The newer Models have the keyboard welded to the frame, or something to that effect. However, calls back and forth with their service team Paul and Jonathan kept me updated on the progress. Then I got a call from Paul my Macbook was ready for pick up. Finally, I thought I may have to shell out extra bucks for the keyboard which was supposed to be the latest and more expensive. Braced myself....for the bomb. But..heres the surprise. They didn't charge me a penny extra. They apologized for taking so long. They made the macbook new again. Wow...that's awesome customer service. I strongly recommend CDC Computers.Winnipeg.They really know their business. Thank You , Cameron, you and your service team are just awesome. I came into CDC Computers for the first time to get a repair to our Android Box. I was so impressed with the courteous and knowledgeable service when I dropped off the box. To be honest, I googled and called a computer repair shop closer to home, but after speaking to them and suffering through a repetitive, condescending conversation - I hung up very irritated. The staff was courteous but the repair services offered was overpriced and not worth the money they ask for. After declining their service (ordering and replacing a part) for $400, they handed me a $80 estimate fee despite being told when dropping off my laptop the estimate wouldn't cost more than $30 if anything at all. It cost me less to have them dispose of my laptop and buy one preowned from another dealer. I would not recommend CDC to my friend or family.

The service department of CDC Computers was amazing! One of the letters came off the keyboard of my son’s Chromebook and they fixed it beautifully. When I called, the Service technician was polite, friendly and very helpful. He clearly explained what could and could not be done, depending on the type of damage to the keyboard and let me know that I would not be charged to have someone assess the damage. I was served quickly by very friendly staff. Although the key was too damaged to reset, the technician problem solved and was able to salvage a key from another damaged keyboard. The repair was done on the spot. The Chromebook now works perfectly and I didn’t have to go through the hassle of a warranty claim or be without the device for an extended length of time. I will definitely come to CDC Computers first next time I have a computer issue. Very happy customer!

DO NOT GO HERE! My ps4 HDMI display was messed up (very common issue) and needed a quick fix. I only got this issue fixed because there were two games that were coming back the next week that I really wanted to play so i figured why not? I take it in and these guys say 3-4 days to get it done. It has now been a week and when I call in they say "technician is not in so we cant say how far along it is". Awesome..... Not to mention these guys are more expensive then most other places in the city. Do yourself a favor and do NOT bring your stuff to them!

Picked up our new desktop computer yesterday to replace our 14-year old Dell that was still running XP. I did a LOT of research on what to upgrade to and shopped around in town and on the internet to compare prices. I went to CDC and in the course of our purchase dealt with both Jonathan & Daniel. Both gentlemen were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and took the time to explain the latest in computer features knowing that i was a tad behind the times. We ended up purchasing an Acer and Daniel had the One TB hard drive swapped out with a 480 GB Solid State Drive (decision to go with SSD was solidified after he had demonstrated SSD versus HDD performance on various models in the store). Fired it up last night and it opens up programs with near instant speed. Extremely pleased with CDC staff and the fact that they do it all, sales, service and warranty service all on-site. In closing, last night was also our 25th Wedding Anniversary and my wife was so pleased with the computer that I had brought home that she said she would "keep me around another 25 years"............. Maybe I should have bought a computer somewhere else. LOL

What a disorganized, unprofessional lot these folks are. One week to install a keyboard? Seriously. Didn't work. Take it back to fix, and another week has gone by and still no computer. A few days ago I brought my laptop and my Canon wireless printer into CDC because the printer had stopped printing, kept getting a printer error message, although they were communicating. The Service Manager Cameron Batista determined that the problem was the printer driver needed to be reinstalled, so Cameron removed the old driver installed, located the correct driver and linked it to my laptop. Because you need to complete the download and link the computer and printer using your home wifi (otherwise it won't work properly), Cameron sent me home with the instructions on how to complete the download and installation, which I managed without any issues, and now my printer is working as it should. Thank you Cameron and CDC. And oh ya, Cameron didn't charge me for his time.

Do not buy from here!!!! The android box that i bought from Amazon was $99.00, the same box at CDC Computers was $299.00. Please make sure you shop around before buying here. The CDC website purposely leaves the brand names out of their pictures and descriptions to make it harder to compare at other locations. It is an absolute scam at this place, once we walked in the door they were willing to take $50.00 of the price without even asking still making it 150.00 more than Amazon. They also did shady things like ask each other if "we should get the preferred customer discount", very greasy sales tactics at this location.

Brought my notebook in to get the SD card reader fixed (it's a used computer and it came that way). They ordered a new assembly (pricey) and got the job done on time. Now, around half a year later, the card reader stopped working. I take very, very good care of my equipment so this is entirely unacceptable, and likely could've been avoided had they done the job right. It looks like CDC Computers is incapable of the most basic repairs. I made a huge mistake in assuming competent service based on how long they've been in business. It was almost like throwing away money. Update: As you can see from their reply, they seem to think that a repair which cost over $200 and lasted for nine months might be considered a success. I will not be taking advantage of the free diagnostic. But thanks anyway.

We purchased an Acer spin 7 laptop and were not sure of which type to go with initially. The guidance we received to assist in understanding the features and pros/cons was way beyond our expectations. Very friendly staff and patient. Showed up at CDC this Saturday at 10 AM because my youngest daughter needed a new computer for school. I was greeted at the door by Jonathan and, 2 hours later, we walked out with a new laptop, a laptop sleeve, a bluetooth mouse for my daughter and a USB spliter for me. Jonathan did a great job explaining to my daughter and I the advantages of the laptop he recommended and I was impressed and relieved that my daughter will now have a brand new laptop with which to continue her studies. I ended up asking for their assistance as the place where I bought my computer originally was closed that day. I was impressed with their service. It was knowledgeable, personal and in a timely manner. Of note there was nothing wrong with the other place I used to take my computer. But the people at CDC are simply better than anybody else I have found. Recently I went there to update my computer and was about to buy more than I actually needed. The owner stopped and talked with me about why I was buying so much equipment and what I needed it for. He ended up convincing me to buy less equipment than I was going to. (500 dls less). That is just to show you that there are honest people who work hard and do a great job, business owners that prefer to keep a happy costumer than to make a few extra bucks. I would recommend them to anybody! They will have a client in me for life.

My faith in customer service has been restored. When the big box suppliers of my printer advised they didn't service printers and suggested I buy a new one. I called C D C and they said the serviced printers and to bring it in. The Tech (forgot to get his name) took it apart on the counter, corrected the problem and said it was no charge. Had a friend who went here to have his PlayStation fixed. He needed it fixed within 7 business days and they told him they would have it done in 3-4. On business day 8 after 3 phone calls by him to their store and no explanation given for why his order wasn’t done yet, it was finally confirmed that his order not only wasn’t done but hadn’t even been started and had now been canceled. Definitely wouldn’t recommend taking any of your electronics here with business practices like that.

Absolutely the best in Winnipeg. Cameron is my go-to person, dude knows what he's doing. I went to Bestbuy's Geeksquad but they didn't really identify the problem, not to trash on Geeksquad though, they charged me 60 bucks plus tax. I went to CDC and Cameron helped me to pin point the issue right away without charging ---- Free diagnosis. I got a new mb and made a simple mistake, couldn't figure it out, went to Cameron and he fixed that in 5 mins. I build computers myself and I can tell you the service they provide here is outstanding. Recommend this place to everyone in Winnipeg.

I am using this form to offer a comment on my experience at CDC yesterday (Nov 19, 2018). This is now my fifth or sixth computer purchase I have been involved in: not always for me in the past. However, I think this is the fourth for my household. As always, I vote with my feet and wallet: If I did not get the best service in sales, I would shop elsewhere. Jonathan has been an A+ sales rep since I first met him. It's a delight to have someone as knowledgeable, personable, and who understands what my needs are. The Acer Swift I bought about a year ago is becoming my wife's computer, while the new Acer Spin will be mine. Was needing a new laptop in a tight time frame and went there on a recommendation. Purchased a laptop (realized later I could have found a better model at a better price elsewhere). After 6 days I began having issues with the machine, took it in once, issue appeared to be resolved, however the machine failed an hour later. I took it back to be repaired under warranty. It took two weeks for a new motherboard to arrive. After taking the machine home, I realized they had not installed Windows properly. Feeling fed up, I resolved this with Microsoft Support.

They took the device for inspection, no receipt and no questions asked. Warranties are all filed in their system.
