I was sending my PC in with no knowledge of what was wrong with it and the guy I talked to found the issue pretty fast and could've dealt with it quicker but for some reason, shipping is slow only when THEY order things. (I have been ordering a lot recently and things show up next day or two) As far as quality goes, after I took my pc home and powered it on, it was working fine until I heard a weird knocking sound, turns out one of the fan blades on my GPU had broken and after calling them and seeing if they did it or not, they denied everything and tried to blame me. So in all honesty, they're good with PC's, I just wouldn't expect professionalism or your things back in full order.

Prices were better than any of the other repair shops i called before them. It was also a plus that they actually work on tablets (as most repair shops wont touch them).

I went to the Hard Drive Cafe yesterday after my computer self-destructed and I was getting quoted $800 to $2400 for hard drive recovery from specialized services. Worked with George all day and he sorted the problem out in no time and at the end of the day had all the data I needed back on my external drive. Very helpful and very friendly, and charged me a fraction of what I would have spent if I had sent it out. I really appreciate the help and the service. I can't say enough good things. He offered me a fair price to clean up my computer and remove the viruses and spyware from my laptop. When I got my computer back it rand 100 times faster and he installed an antivirus at no extra charge.

Brought in a fairly new laptop that totally crashed on me and me trying to be Mr.Fixit made it worse which entailed a sodering job,anyhow the laptop was repaired and hard drive replaced the sameday and worked great for a couple weeks brought it back and he looked it over again at no cost and got another laptop I have running real nice which was a cheap fix all in the same day.Great service and fair pricing and a nice friendly person.

Slipgate Complex (Slipgate Complex)

Ehh, I traded in a tablet for a Mac Mini that was supposed to be flawless, however when I got it home the hard drive was throwing SMART errors. "It worked perfect when we had it running." George said. So I replaced the hard drive at my own expense, got Sierra reinstalled, set up Logic Pro X. Instantly, kernel errors out the wazoo. So I ran the inbuilt Apple Hardware Diagnostics, and lo and behold both sticks of ram failed. ("Oh, it worked fine, we had it running all day!" - George) After finally replacing the ram, the unit finally works. During the replacement of the ram and hard drive I also found that several screws were missing, including one of the standoff screws that secures the cover plate. So when Hard Drive Cafe says a system is in perfect working condition, they actually mean it's held together with bubblegum and a prayer. Edit: I should mention that the mini-displayport to VGA adapter included was defective as well. Ended up paying about $120 out of pocket to get the system working fully, after trading a ToughPad valued $2500 retail for this machine which was supposedly flawless.

Brought my laptop in in order to speed it up and fix a few keys on my keyboard. Speed up was no problem, but the keyboard had to be replaced. George found the exact model and colour to match my laptop, got it shipped within a reasonable delay despite the Canada post strike and he gave ma a great price. I will be taking all my computer repairs to the Hard drive cafe from here on out.

Saved my Life! Had a older hard drive fail on me. Windows kept on trying to repair it but it could not. I have worked on drives before but not ones that were physically failing before my eyes. We had over 70 gig of family pictures on that drive(with no backup). I configure and build computers and I know my way around a keyboard but I knew I better let someone with more expertise take on this task. I called a few data recovery places and they quoted me ridiculous prices. Then I saw some posts on a local board about the Hard Drive Cafe getting information off of damaged drives, so I gave them a call. After I explained in detail the issues the drive was presenting, he assured me he would do his very best to get the information I required off the drive. He also gave me a very detailed explanation of what to expect for pricing. Although this was a little scary, it was way less scary than the other data recovery companies pricing. He called me a couple of times over the next couple of days telling me he was still working on it but was very hopeful that he would get the pictures. Finally the day came when I got the phone call and he said it was all done. Quite frankly I thought I was going to have to sell one of the kids! Nope, I got outta there for around $150. I was very happy as you could imagine for that price and my pictures. Quite frankly you have to admire someone who is so honest. He could have soaked me easily for hundreds for those pictures and many would(Just like those other data recovery places(some of them were talking thousands).

Quick service, and he even cleaned out my laptop while he had it open. I plan on going here for all my computer repairs.

Showed up twice with problems. Second time was a blown power supply. Not only did they give me a big discount on the work, but they got it done in 2 hours because I was stressed. All other shops in town told me 3-4 days. These guys care about you and the owner is providing some of the best customer support I've ever seen. Highly recommended to anyone as they won't let you down. Don't hesitate to come here I wouldn't trust anyone more than hard drive cafe to not only give you the best deal they can but also delivery time and quality.

I ended up grabbing the wrong one came back with the whole heat sink and problem was solved, Staff even stayed after closing to help resolve the issue. Can not recommend enough, Best shop In Dartmouth hands down. Turned out to be my graphics card fan, but was fixed with a quick cleaning.

SO. to begin my experience; it started out great, free diagnosis of my computers problem and after being told it couldn't be fixed I was told that he could backup all my stuff onto a hard drive for 40-60$. Great! So when I went to go pick up my stuff and was charged $120 I was appalled. When I could've went to best buy and been charged $80 but of course I chose a local and cheaper option. When I asked why the price difference he exclaimed that the labour was more difficult. Which no offense to anyone but how laborious could that be??? Anyway, I suck it up and paid the $120. On my way out of the store he asked me to wait and said that he might be able to fix my computer with taking other computers he has out back and putting pieces together for me and would only charge me $100. Why would someone do that after you told me you couldn't fix my computer and charged me over what you had already said. So of course frustrated, I said no. Then he continued stopping me out the door asking me to come on google and give him a good review. For what? So this is as best as I can give. Great for free diagnosis and doing what I asked but horrible on almost everything possible.

First was to recover files off a “fried” laptop and the second was to diagnose and repair an exceptionally slow new laptop (that the manufacture said was fine…). Awesome stuff! I had very sentimental videos, pictures, and documents on a hard drive that had some issues. Most importantly, it had a lot of high quality wedding footage that I paid a lot of money for. He was able to get everything onto another hard drive. My only suggestion is to give a higher quote as it costed me more than was originally quoted for. I understand a lot more time went into it than was planned but it should be accounted for in the estimated quote. Other than that, everything was great and Georgey is very knowledgable and knows what he's doing. Most importantly, my wife is pumped! Thanks Georgey!

Definitely bring your computer here! I spilled coffee on my brand new MacBook (damage not covered by Apple Care). Mac East (another computer repair shop) completely wrote it off, saying it was irreparable and “garbage”. Luckily I found HARD DRIVE CAFÉ! The owner was very helpful and optimistic and had very reasonable rates. He fixed the laptop over the weekend and it works beautifully now! They are amazing at Hard Drive Café! My grandfather was so crushed that he lost all of his photos when the hardware fried. I took it to a few places years ago, they advised me nothing could not be retrieved and I should dispose it. Few years later a friend of mine told me if anyone can do it, it's George! Not only did they provide amazing service, they were was able to retrieve 1200 pictures from a 14-year-old hard drive.Words cannot express how much it meant to me and my Granfather!
