Dishonest! I don't recommend this business at all! Caused damage and a cord went "missing".
2 years ago I brought in my computer to this place after it had been encountering Blue Screens of Death for over 6 months from literally doing anything. My computer was a custom built machine by myself, and the issue began happening after I had RMA'ed (warranty replaced) my motherboard and one of my graphics cards. They had my computer for approx a week before they called to told me to pick up my computer. They said they did multiple passes and checked over my computer over thoroughly and couldn't find the issue. The check over cost $60 or $70.
After I got the computer home I noticed that several connections to hard drives and for the powersupply were loose, so i connected them proper and noticed that several screws were rattling around the case loosely, as well as 2 blue clips which i recognized as the slips used to secure the graphics cards to the PCI-E slots. They broke off 2 /3 of the clips, breaking off only the clips on the two used Slots, while the clips on the RAM felt rather lose. In addition The power cord for the power supply was missing. I called them and they said "There wasn't one in the box." So i let them know i was coming in the next day as they were about to close.
The next day I want in to confront them. They adamantly stated that there was no power cord in the box and that thy did not break the clips, claiming that one was already broken and the other was lose when I dropped it off. I admitted to them then and there that i had taken the machine to several different places before them and NONE of the technicians had noticed any damage or broken components.
Furthermore, i stated that the technician i took the machine to before Compu Clone had done more than just the checks they had done, and it was nearly half the price. As a matter of fact, they9the previous computer shop) allowed me into the tech room to show me the machine, stating that they were having trouble getting the graphics cards back into their slots, because of the able management and size of the cards. The clips slid to the right and wiggling the slightly makes them easier to move and i was able to get the cards in and secured in less than 5 minutes. The clips were firm and stable. After we put the machine back in it's box, i put the power cord at the bottom of the box before taking it directly to Compu Clone.
Finally Compuclone admitted that they HAD seen the cord at the bottom of the box, but they had left it in the box as they had multiple power cords strewn across the back workbench (it's a small 1-2 room building). We searched the bench for my cord which i had labeled for cable management in my room, but we were unable to find the cord in their mess of both clutter and other power supply cords. I needed a cord bad, but my cord was for Power supplies with a 850 watt rating. To help shove me out the door faster, they handed me a cord saying "All cords are the same anyway".
They also finally admitted that they had problems with the clips, saying that the first one was already broken off when they got it, and that the second was loose after they had trouble getting the card out. The only way to get break those clips is to pull the clip up off the board with a fair amount of force. When i called them out on it they gave me a $10 refund on the bill and suggested that i heavily upgrade my machine, trying to push hardware that was older than what was in my machine. I called them out on that as well and they tried to shove me out the door again.
Another 3 months later I discovered that the Motherboard i was given was a revision 3 instead of a revision 2, and this new revision no longer supported half of the hardware that the previous revision had, and that manufacturer had finally updated the supported hardware list removing incompatible hardware which included my CPU, Graphics cards and RAM. I ended up saving my money and upgraded my Motherboard, and CPU and solved the issue.
