He is very busy though, so it may take more than a week depending on the issues he faces with each individual job. Very friendly and willing to give advice. I had a great experience with Steve and SLP Computer Repairs. My 2011 Macbook Air was having battery issues, but otherwise it still worked well. I wanted to repair it rather than spend $1000+ on a new machine. Steve replaced the battery and gave the internal components a thorough cleaning. He communicated with me throughout the process by providing updates and photos of the work being done. Steve was courteous and professional, and now I have my computer back and it's working like new! Steve's prices were fair, and I was happy to support a local business instead of paying an exorbitant amount to Apple. I will definitely go to SLP Computer Repairs again!

I am happy to have my 6 year-old, heavily-used laptop back and in the same working order as it was before (I thought) it had died. I found SLP by posted reviews and they were not wrong: professional, efficient, transparent are the words I would use. Not cheap, but the laptop has irreplaceable files on it and the price was more than worth it (to me) to have them successfully recovered and the laptop working as well as it ever did. One of our computers just fizzled and burned one day, and I found out about SLP Computer Repairs on the internet and set up an evaluation by Steve. I needed to know if it was repairable, and if not, then could any of my data be salvaged. Steve was extremely responsive and available to dissect the computer, find the exact site of burn-out which was extensive enough to make the computer non repairable. Then he worked hard to find an adapter that allowed him to successfully save all the data I needed from my hard drive. While he was working on this computer, our other computer got hacked by a scam company pretending to remove viruses, charging more than $600--but ultimately making this computer non-functional. Steve helped us understand that this was a scam, advised us to stop credit card payment for that "service", urgently evaluated the computer, and within the week thoroughly cleaned it all up and resolved the problem. In both circumstances, Steve was incredibly helpful; he thoroughly explained what was happening and how he was approaching and fixing the problems, and he consistently communicated with us about the progress of the work. We couldn't be more satisfied with his friendly professionalism, his technical expertise, his responsiveness to our needs and concerns, and his fair and inexpensive repair philosophy and pricing! (And all in an animal-friendly and eco-responsible framework) SLP Computer Repairs (and Steve) is truly a prescious gem in our community; our expectations were indeed exceeded!

My one son’s desktop computer was not performing optimally (especially during gaming) and he noticed through a diagnostic test that the internal temp of his computer was significantly higher than his brother’s identical computer. We took the computer to a local shop in NF and after telling him about the temp issue, he had the computer a couple days and said he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. $75 later we picked it up from him but my son was still having issues. So my son purchased a replacement cooling fan and when we attempted to do this ourselves we quickly found out we needed an expert. So after searching reviews upon reviews, we settled on Steve with SLP Computers in St. Catharines. He took all the purchased items and because of the holidays, within a couple weeks he replaced the fans, had to make some adjustments, installed additional security software and ran diagnostics to make sure it was running properly. I tried installing Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop but messed something up and I couldnt use my computer. I spent a few days (with my phone) searching up tutorials on how to fix my computer, but nothing I came across helped. So I took my laptop in to SLP computers and Steve helped a ton! He got my computer up and running within two days with Ubuntu 12.04 running on it. He also cleaned up my computer's hardware for a low additional cost. Now my laptop runs smoother and faster than it did before. Unlike some other places Ive been to for computer repairs, Steve was honest about the cost of repairs and let me know a good estimate before fixing my computer. He was also very helpful, and taught me a few things about how to use and maintain my computer. If I ever need a computer repaired again, I will definitely come back to SLP computer repairs. Why I would recommend SLP computers: -> honesty about cost before agreeing to fix -> SLP has good store hours for people who work (I find a lot of places in St. Catharines close at 5. SLP computers is open until 7 or 8, so you can pick up or drop off your computer after you come home from work.) -> Steve is very knowledgeable and has years of experience. (Best Buy's Geek Squad members typically have only a year or two experience. Ive found that when I bring in a broken computer to a place like Best Buy, they are usually stumped and tell me to just buy a new computer.) -> really helpful and approachable

Steve was very responsive and despite being very busy kept me update with progress. He asked questions and sent pictures along way. It was a tricky hardware problem and didn’t replicate when Steve had it. But he kept me well informed and even offered to test my network cables and try to figure out what was causing the issues. After he worked on the computer, and I got it home he checked in to see if the problem returned, and luckily it didn’t. Will definitely use SLP again.

I seldom write reviews but I felt this one was necessary. I had an old HP Laptop that just died on day and I was told by a Big Box Store repair dept that it was unrepairable and my data was lost. I kept it for another 2 years before finding Steve. I was skeptical that he could do anything for me but I was wrong. He was able to retrieve my drive and download all my data onto a USB so that I was once again able to access all my files and images. Especially 6 years worth of family pictures. I am so pleased with the service and result that I felt it necessary to write this review. Steve's rating is high ... But', my experience with him was very poor. Waited over 3-1/2 weeks to get my computer back. He kept pushing me off for other projects and promise dates were not met. In addition, I'm not totally happy with his work as well. His knowledge is good and his price was okay, but shop around and get a return date in writing..."Just my take". Sorry Steve'... your response is not an accurate assessment of our conversation and I was more than understanding. It's unfortunate that you didn't take any ownership of this. No problem... I will take my Business elsewhere.

I have a 10 year old Toshiba laptop, was told by other places on the phone to throw it out and buy new, Steve told me he could help but it would run very slow with Windows on it. He put Linux on and it works like new now, cost me a fraction of what anywhere else would probably charge. Thank you!

Steve offered an excellent service especially when I was under stressfull situation at my business. He came in on time and coordinated with the software team and did a full cleanup of the systems literally and installed new software on each terminal.
