Very happy with DTI Colwood (Chris). Instead of trying to sell me a laptop, they look at my current one and made improvements that made it faster and better, all way cheaper than buying a new one. Years ago, they replaced my laptop motherboard under warranty, a laptop that I have purchased in a Big Box Store that did not really care about customer service. This is the reason why I went back to DTI Computers and will go back again for all my computer's needs.

I've been coming to DTI Yates since around 2015 when I ordered the parts for my current (hopefully soon to be upgraded) machine, and I've had nothing but good experiences. One thing I *really* appreciate is that the shop has never made assumptions based on stereotypes with regard to my computer knowledge. I'm not a 20s/30s something male, yet I do a fair bit of PC gaming, and as a consequence I have a decent grasp by layperson's standards. They've always respected me, and... when it comes to shops dealing in computers, that is more rare than many people might realise. In addition to that, service has always been great, from repairs, to ordering in components and peripherals, to home deliveries (in non-Covid times, clearly). Cheers! p.s Having just read the exchange between Jeremie and the owner, who explained they'd been looking after a cat for humanitarian reasons, made me like them all the more!

I buy one or two laptops a year so I've been around the town - these guys are excellent! There's no up-sell (sometimes I think computer sales people are the new used car salesmen), but these guys honestly want to help and the prices are as good as any.

Matthew Sattlegger

Cracked my screen, called them, they had stock, I rushed over and under an hour I had a fixed laptop. Amazing service and great people

DTI Computers on Yates, Victoria are great. At 83, when my computer went blank , I felt as someone must if cast into the mid Atlantic with a leaky life jacket and a very small bottle of fresh water! They were wonderful to deal with, fixed ALL my problems very quickly and the cost for it was a really pleasant surprise. Thank you guys for the wonderful job you performed for an old man who barely knows how to switch the thing on. You go above and beyond. Incredible service and my sincere thanks.

Adam Thiessen

Called ahead to ask about product, was told product was in stock, told them I would be by to pick up the product immediately. Upon arrival there was a sign stating "Back in 20 mins." I gave up waiting 35 minutes later and took my business elsewhere.

Bill Weir

My son’s tower went totally sideways mid paper writing and finals prep so it was very much an emergency. The service received from the DTI person in Colwood was outstanding. Also the end price point was less than I’d expected from the amount of time spent getting things up and running. I’m more than satisfied.

Jared Fraser

Service was excellent and very professional, would recommend to friends and family for sure!

Rhys Archer

DTI has been very helpful when we've visited, first for help finding some fairly obscure AV cabling that they were able to identify and help us find, and second for the repair of a laptop. I would recommend them fully.

Jeremie Davies

If I could give a 0 star I would. Just all kinds of wrong. The store is covered in cat hair. Its everywhere! Parts of computers and computer parts on the floor and zero organization. The printer for the debit machine needed a new roll of tape, took 30 minutes and the manager to come in on his day off to figure it out!? These guys fix computers? Lights were off in half the store. Just all all-round very uncomfortable. Reply: Good for you looking after an animal, serious, that is commendable. Still no reason to have the store covered in hair, even more so with computer parts everywhere. I was/wasn't surprised that you defended store appearance. It's a shame. I'm not telling you how to do your job, just sharing my experience. I would understand your stance if I was the only mentioning the appearance of the store, but I'm not. Maybe you should take that I to consideration

Dustin Downs

What a mess. Completely disorganized, can't take a step in any direction without tripping over used computers and parts strewn across the floor. Staff wore no mask for quite a while.

Noah Leon

Super helpful and knowledgable. I am from out of town and needed help with some equipment, and he not only helped me, but took the time to talk, great service.

Josh Lang

Good pricing, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bought a number of parts and peripherals from DTI; never been disappointed.

Chris Burke

Great customer service and prices. Stacey was very personable, informative and their service warranty beats any place I checked out. I will definitely be going back and recommend them to anyone searching for Electronics.

What a terrible experience. My husband's laptop had a single broken hinge which made the screen a little shaky when typing. He took it to DTI to get it fixed and they quoted him a $300 price, since they said they would order the part directly from Asus and told him it would take about 10 days to fix. My husband needs his computer for work so he agreed. TWO MONTHS LATER. My husband has called them repeatedly and asked what is taking so long and they've given him a variety of excuses. He has asked to be kept up to date after each call and the people at the shop agreed and then just... didn't do that at all. Finally they get the part, which he finds out after HE CALLS THEM, and they tell him it's pink (the computer is silver and this piece would substitute the whole back of the screen). Their explanation? Well the photos on EBAY were blurry, so they didn't realize it was pink when they bought it. Wait, wasn't the 300 dollar price for a simple repair supposed to be because they were ordering the part directly from Asus? Interesting. They then attempt to convince my husband to take the pink piece that he didn't want or order, and pay 300 dollars for it. He declines and says he will just pick up the laptop and send it directly to Asus to be repaired, for some reason he didn't have a lot of faith in this company anymore. He goes to pick it up and they hand it over and neglect to tell him that, oh yeah, they took the entire piece of the laptop that holds the screen onto the body apart. Now, what started as a broken hinge and a mildly shaky screen is essentially useless until he pays to get it fixed. And because the laptop is now MORE BROKEN THAN IT WAS BEFORE HE TOOK IT TO DTI it will be more expensive to pay someone else to fix. So, in summary, DTI tried to cheat us on equipment costs, kept the computer roughly 6 times longer than they said they would, lied and misinformed every time WE had to call them, broke it more, and didn't even bother to tell my husband when he picked it up. I would not advise going to DTI.

Downs Construction Ltd.

Went to this business Saturday morning after accidently driving over my laptop computer in my briefcase at the end of the day on Friday. They diagnosed what needed repair on Saturday, ordered replacement parts on Monday and had the laptop back to me by the end of the day on Tuesday. Amazingly affordable, quick turnaround AND the staff are very helpful and pleasant.

I took my computer here four years ago. It had a loose hinge. They quoted it at $300 saying the cost was that high because they were sourcing the part from the manufacturer, which they later denied when one of them slipped that the delay was eBay's fault. They said it'd take a couple of weeks. I called them for nearly three months waiting for them to fix the computer, being dismissed and lied to every time. Eventually they get the part, but it's pink instead of silver like the computer. They don't even offer a discount for this. By this point I am sick of waiting and always having to call them despite them saying they'll keep me posted so I decide to pick up the laptop and take it elsewhere. I get home with the computer and realize it's completely taken apart and unusable. They had the balls to say they wouldn't charge me; charge me for what?! Dude, these guys actually broke it far more, turning an inconvenience into paperweight, they should have compensated me. I took it to another store in town. Ordered the part for $60, charged me $100 in total. Took two weeks. Additionally, their store is always a dirty mess. When you see computers and parts scattered across the floors, covered in dust, you can imagine how they'll treat your equipment. Avoid at all cost.

Excellent service, Chris and Nicola are legit. I'll be coming back for your wizardry.

DTI was great to deal with when I needed to replace my laptop screen. Super nice guy who got the job done for a reasonable price. What more could you ask for??

Seth Ainsley

Great, friendly, local computer store. They have the bits and bobs that nobody else in town does, when nobody else in town is open, at a price nobody else in town would match. Of course I order online when I am planning ahead - it's cheaper than any brick and mortar - but this place is good as it gets for in Victoria IMO.

Couldn't find the info I needed to order the part I needed, anywhere. After multiple tries with ASUS customer support itself, searching and digging hours online, over at London Drugs and Re Start, this was getting stupid - I don't have this kind of time for things like this. The guys at Re Start suggested DTI Computers almost across the street, so off I went, one last try. Really I should have gone to DTI Computers FIRST. Stacie and Nikola were aces in the hole...exactly who I needed to talk to, and THEY had the part IN STORE. Within 10 minutes I had a new very specific power adapter for a fair price and all the info I needed and i was on my way. Great location, great staff - I will go to DTI Computers FIRST next time.

Called explaining I was very computer illiterate, and needed help acquiring and installing a second monitor. Person I spoke to, Stacey, was very helpful, going over what specs I had, offering suggestions, answering every question I had expertly and understandably. Will definitely be returning for all my computer ware needs.

Taken my laptop here a few times, always found them to be honest, great value and very knowledgeable. Their turn around times are great too. I'll definitely keep coming back.

AWESOME!! Laptop had a VERY cracked screen where the display didn't even work. Looked around all over Victoria for a shop that would fix it affordably and was shocked at the really good price compared to the 10+ stores I checked. Great service too, it was fixed in only a day! They are really friendly and I would go there for any other computer troubles I might have.

Friendly, fast and skilled. They are always honest, they never overcharge for service or sell things at inflated prices. I won't take my electronics anywhere else. Thank you DTI.

Will Frohock

I was calling around looking for a GPU, and this was the only place that would put one aside for me! I got a 3060 for an amazing (compared to the usual) 750 (with tax 850). The guy was also incredibly helpful with a few of questions I had aswell! Definitely coming back soon!

Greg McQuaid

Excellent computer store. Very knowledgeable staff. Got us set up and going in no time. Highly recommend.

Denise Downs

My second experience with DTI Computers reaffirmed my first experience as it was positive as well. They replaced the screen on my grandsons laptop in record time and came in under quoted prices. Great company to do business with, pleasant staff. Recommend highly and I will use them again in the future as needed

I was ready to throw my computer overboard. I've been having challenges since early January and it is now May. A friend recommended DTI Computers. I took my tower in and spoke to Stacey. In less than 24 hours my computer was ready. Stacey was kind and patient & understood that I didn't know or want to know a lot about computers. He slowly walked me through my challenges and now I LOVE my computer again. I found their rates to be reasonable and parking is easy and free. I HIGHLY recommend this small local Victoria company.

Nathan Spratt

Have ordered 7+ computers through DTI for our company. We have given DTI many chances. DTI missed the mark on every single one. way over estimated timeline, wrong parts, wrong prices, poor communication, just bad overall. It's hard to believe these guys are still in business. We will not be ordering through DTI any longer.

LenT

Stacey excels in willingness and availability to solve computer issues. It is a pleasure to find an honourable business to deal with. Thank you!

Erich Purkiss

Overly impressed! I found this place while looking for a trustworthy place to take my laptop to be fixed. The customer service was great and the staff was very friendly, upfront about all costs and honest about the best ways to get it repaired for my best interest. It's hard to find a place that cares more about the customer

K G Moffatt

The problem was fixed and I was taught how to do some things myself. excellent service.

Entering DTI Computers is like opening the door to a Dickensian curiosity shop, a tangle of wires and cords and innumerable black bits and pieces hanging from the walls, the corpses of dead computers stacked in their coffins on the floor. It’s like being miniaturized and entering the hallways of the neural circuitry of the human brain. It looks like chaos, but it knows where everything is. That’s Stacey. He knows what’s going on in his world, and he’s going to bring all those CPU corpses back to life, if he can. He’s the master of the machines to which the rest of us are now enslaved, and their exact reverse: human, all too human. Warm, infinitely patient, good-natured, doing his utmost (which is considerable) to do right by his customer, which sometimes means being honest about the limitations involved: I’ve seen him tell a young woman who just walked in off the street it’d cost $800 to replace her laptop screen, and you could see the pain it caused him to have to deliver bad news, even to a complete stranger. And speaking of the street, if you’re put off by the homeless people congregating outside the shop and the 7-11 next door, you’re probably not the sort of person who would go looking for diamonds and gems where they are typically found—in the rough. I agree with everyone here who’s given DTI 5 stars. All I know is, Stacey solved my problems, not only quickly, but with gentlemanly kindness. He’s not just “a nice guy.” He’s a godsend.

Stacey's a nice guy, DTI is probably a fine place to buy parts I'm sure, I don't doubt he had the best of intentions, but my experience with bringing a PC in for servicing was terrible and EXTREMELY costly. I used to be a computer tech. We are not all equal in troubleshooting skills. We can all solve the same simple problems effectively, but when it comes to the less obvious ones, good intuition and thinking ahead can make the difference between a quick, efficient, low-cost fix, or avoidable high cost and significant lost time. The poor troubleshooting and lack of foresight at DTI cost me not only hundreds in unnecessary labor and parts (1/4 the original cost of the computer), but literally thousands of dollars of lost productivity at a critical time with client projects. It was quite obviously a faulty power-supply, but for some reason I couldn't fathom, he was convinced it was the hard drive. Replacing the hard drive meant many hours of re-installing apps, etc, but to make matters worse, he set up a new installation of windows on the new drive, rather than backup / restore from original, and didn't think to set up the new windows account with same username. Not having the same username maximized my hours of re-setting up my workstation. Then, the same random power-downs started and, of course, it did turn out to be the power supply. Had to bring it back in and lost more days of work. When he replaced the power supply, he forgot to re-attach all the case fans. Sorry Stacey, but a better tech would have made a better judgement call, would have thought ahead & done a better job of the new windows installation to reduce my setup time, wouldn't have missed plugging in all the case fans, etc. These mistakes / oversights literally cost me thousands.

This is the first time I've ever posted a Google review but wanted to do it for DTI because they have such great customer service.

Kay Walker

DTI fixed my computer in one day and the cost was very reasonable, very noisy fan and the the previous time this happened I was told by a repair shop on the mainland that it was the hard drive. I paid considerably more and wonder if that was actually what was wrong. Computer is running like new now.

B Little

Great full service shop. Very helpful. If you buy a product from them they look after you. Can't think of any comparable computer shop in the city.

Excellent customer service, competitive prices, and quick repair times. Stacey is a great guy to deal with and he has helped me with computer builds, computer repairs, and ordering in parts at a way better price than NCIX, NewEgg, or Best Buy.

Victoria is a small city and it’s usually better to buy computer stuff online. But DTI computers is a exception to this rule. I went to DTI and I talked to Stacey, the owner, about buying some hard to get equipment (a 3080 Geforce GPU). Incredibly, he had it in stock, when no one else did. Stacey ended up knocking $100 off the price, which he didn’t have to. He went into detail about his suppliers, the market for the cards, which showed a lot of honesty and knowledge about the business. Stacey is smart and loves his job. I’m a dude. I’m nerdy. But I get the strong sense that they treat women, and less nerdy customers with the same respect they did to me. DTI’s downtown location is small and has limited parking. It doesn’t have the glitzy and corporate look of a Bestbuy. The prices seem reasonable and it has a great selection. I would start here for any computer purchase. There’s nice gems in the city, and DTI computers is one of them. BONUS: When I came there, there was a white cat in the store. The owner was taking care of the kitty for a friend. I got some quality pets in.

D R

Helpful friendly staff, very expensive compared to online or otherwise, but whats new.

Had 19.5 volt 150 watt power supply for Sony VGC series all--in-one desktop computer in stock. I was fortunate not to have to special order or go the eBay route. Lots of parts on hand, a store I would recommend for hobbyists or general computer users.
