My iPhone X had an encounter with the Dead Sea. I was devestated when I realized the water resistance didn’t hold out. My phone had not yet backed up on wifi and all my photos from the trip were lost. When I got home to Toronto and after a quick Google search I brought my phone to Max at ASK. I told him to forget the phone, and asked him to focus on saving my data. He didn’t promise a thing but told me he’d have a look and see what he could do. 6 weeks and a lot of patience later as a result of part orders, new tools, torn apart chips, and extensive online community consultation, Max recovered all of the photos from my trip. Max is a genius and has become a part of the story of my trip to the Dead Sea. Thank you Max!!!

Had a broken screen fixed and they installed the protector for free. Broke that screen within a month and they put a new one in right away under warranty. Broke it a third time (lol my phone was bent from falling, so glass was compromised) they didn’t charge me full price to put a new one in once again. Overall, happy with service.

My cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) was dunked into a bath of water by my 2 year old son. An hour later I'm in ASK Computers getting an assessment. The screen was flickering, the battery soaked. I thought I was done in for a new phone. The staff at ASK were fully confident that it could be saved. I didn't feel for a moment that they didn't know it could be done. Once day later, my phone lives. Pretty awesome. That, and they have awesome prices on laptops and other tech gear. Great shop.

You come into this place and there’s a bunch of really really happy guys fixing stuff, you can see they like their work! They’re EXCITED to fix your stuff!!! It’s almost surreal. I went here with a broken iPhone. Two other places before ASK looked at it and said it can’t be fixed. One charged me $70 for this. I took the phone to ASK and these guys fixed it perfectly in 15 minutes while I waited and asked only $50. I do believe one of them was singing while he worked. And they did this after closing time. So: experts, quick service, reasonable prices, great customer service, great guys who really like to fix stuff.

My iPhone screen was COMPLETELY shattered after I dropped it from a rollercoaster (just so happened to be the Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland). Brought it in here after reading positive reviews on Google, and this store did not disappoint. Very quick and speedy service -- they had it repaired within 20 minutes! The gentlemen are very kind, respectful, and knowledgable. The phone came out good as new and they even gave me a screen protector with it :) Thank you!

So, I literally just came from AskComputers and decided to write a review. Now, I am very attached to my laptop, besides the fact that it cost me a fortune, I use it for just about everything and it has been running wonderfully for about 4 years...which is more than I can say about most laptops I've had in the past. So, I definitely didn't want to trust my laptop to just ANYONE. The people at AskComputers had mostly positive reviews and when I emailed them, they were always incredibly fast wih responses. They even had a profile set up for me even before I set foot in the store. I had stupidly spilled a cleaning agent on part of my laptop keyboard and it messed everything up. After taking my laptop into the store and getting an assessment, they had emailed me shortly after, outlining a rough estimate cost and how long it'd take for eveything to come. They even broke down the expense when I asked them, detailing the individual cost of parts and labour. Overall, I'll say I had a very positive experience with AskComputers and they were very helpful and patient with me, both in peson and online.

I had a broken M.2 connector on my laptop and no "PC repair shops" around Mississauga and Etobicoke that even wanted to touch a repair like this. I ran into this store using Google and was conversing with a tech right away! I brought it in and it was an instant diagnosis and understanding of how the repair process will go. They fixed my M.2 connector in such a quick fashion and even installed my SSD on it in the store to ensure the M.2 connector was working. tl;dr If you have a tech problem that requires a REAL tech expert to solve, ASK Computers is the place to go in all of the GTA. Period.

The guys at ASK computers fixed it within 30 mins, threw in a new phone screen protector, and knew that as a student I couldn't afford to simply pay $200+ at the Apple Store to get my phone fixed. This place was amazing, both in their repair skills and their customer service. My phone was damaged by water, so I had to find a shop to repair my phone. Looked up repair shops in Toronto and saw that this place had a ton of consistently positive reviews, so decided to take my phone here. I took my iPhone X broken screen for repair. Gentlemen fixed it in under 30 minutes and have a warranty on the screen for 90 days. After few days I noticed that once my phone heats up either due to extended usage or fast charging, my top row keys don’t work properly. It will require a restart. It was frustrating. I took it back to the store and explained the problem. He looked up record and replaced the screen in under 20 mins with no questions asked. It’s working absolutely fine now. Brought in two iPhones for screen replacements and they got it done within a few hours. The price they quoted me via email was the exact price that I paid. No hassle, no negotiations, no issues. What they said is exactly what they did. Incredibly nice and professional, and much, much more cost effective than what Apple wanted to charge. Had a issue with my IPad Mini 5 display, brought it in for out of warranty repair, they quoted me $225, Apple quoted me $400. It was fixed in around 2-3 days. After I had picked it up I noticed there was a issue with the sleep wake sensor triggering when I flipped the cover to the back of the IPad. I contacted them via online chat to see what they can do, considering I'd have to take a afternoon off to travel there to get it fixed and pick it up again, they said they could pick it up then drop it back off so I didn't need to travel, that did me a great service YMMV. Although it might have taken a while to get it fixed, they handled it professionally and at a fraction of the cost. If you don't see a edit or update, everything is still going well. I am happy with their service and I can recommend them.

First, I'll preface this review with a backstory. I had an issue with my work phone, and brought it to be repaired at a tech repair shop, unrelated to ASK. They did an exceptionally terrible job with the repair, which resulted in a very poor review. One of their "managers" got in touch with me privately, after the owner/his boss basically told me I was getting no refund, nor any further work done for free unless I took legal action. The owner refused to hold himself or his staff accountable for the poor job they did, using after-market products to repair my phone, and actually completing the repairs incorrectly (which had been later confirmed by a visit to an Apple retailer). The manager offered to personally fix the further damage that had been done to my phone, because they offer a 6 month warranty on the parts that were used, and he claimed to be sorry for my experience and wanted me to consider revising my review. Fast-forward beyond another meeting with the company to give them the opportunity to redeem themselves... and they did an even worse job the second time around. I then found ASK, after doing some research, and asking around for recommendations from coworkers and friends. I called the shop on a Tuesday, and spoke very briefly to an employee about the repairs I needed. Upon visiting the shop on Friday of the same week, the employee recognized my situation right away, remembering our call, and beyond that, they also immediately identified me from the review I left for the other shop, months prior. I was impressed, as it showed that they do their due diligence in terms of competitive analysis, and customer care. The initial meeting was very easy and friendly, and as I waited (for not very long, might I add! These guys offer very prompt service!) I was able to observe interactions with other staff and clients. I recognized exchanges that were 10/10 -- truly above and beyond what the competitor's shop offered, in terms of transparency, rapport, organization, etc. For a better price, better timeline, and better customer care, I now have an improved iPhone. Thanks to Max, and the rest of the team, for making this an easy experience, and allowing me to put my faith back into the phone repair industry. I genuinely wish I had done more research the first time around, though I'm so happy that my poor experience with TechKnow space led me to finding ASK!

I gave a 4GB RAM (2X2GB) computer and they have stolen 2GB RAM. And also charged 150$ for a very small repair (solder gun work). Never going there again! Be careful to delete your entire personal data before giving it to repair.

I took my Laptop in to them. I had already spent $200+ with Dell Support who never really fixed my problem. They changed the fan and merged two backups I had. I got the Laptop back and it was still doing something similar. They told me to bring it back and they would look at it again. Turned out the backup I had was the problem. They said they could backup my Data and do a complete reinstall, or they would refund my money. The fan was an issue also. Anyway I wanted them to do the work. They didn't charge me and my computer finally works without annoying revving and shutting down. Thank you.

They replied instantly that they could, gave me the price, and told me to come by any time, they could fix it in 30 min. I happened to be passing by Ask Computers on my way to the market. My Samsung Note II has had a massive spiderweb crack on the screen since July of last year! I figured I'd pop in and see if there was anything they could do. There was! My phone is older, so they didn't have the part required to get 1-hour service. Instead they hooked me up with a loaner phone and when my phone was ready (same day), they drove it to my home (mid-town Toronto) to deliver it to my door. Service was wonderful - very polite and informative. I could not be happier with the service. If I ever have phone problems again, I'll be back (but I hope I won't have to).

Great service and fast! Needed my computer get fixed due to a liquid spill over the keyboard. Essentially my laptop was not turning on at all. Took it to Apple Eaton Centre first, it was such a pain process to even get it diagnosed before they estimated me between $300 - $800 in repairs. So I decided to get a second opinion at ASK Computers. They diagnosed it the same evening within less than two hours and it was fixed perfectly the next day. It ended up being $150. Thanks again guys for the great job fixing my laptop!!

Such good experience took two iphone. One with water damage and one with broken screen. Broken screen was fixed in like 15-20 minutes till the time I grabbed my coffee. Was not sure if water damage would work again, but they made it happen. Even apple care said they will replace it, but won’t repair it which means all data gone! I am so glad i came here service charges are so affordable. Definitely would recommend for any phone or laptop care. :) BIG THUMBS UP

I dropped my android-phone and the screen was smashed. I had it replaced by the people at ASK computers. I was charged 195$ and I've been told they would guarantee the workmanship for 60 days. After 70 days, the screen stopped working for no apparent reason (I didn't drop it and it was working fine moments before it stopped turning on). I've called the people from ASK computers and after looking at it, they told me that the guarantee was for 20 days only, then they changed their story and it was valid for 30 days only and offered to put another new screen for 150$ + tx.. Even though, I've bring up that whenever a merchant sells a good, this product has to be suited for its intended usage for a reasonable amount of time under a normal usage. (this is called an implied warranty). There was nothing to do and they basically told me to f- off. not satisfied. bottom line: i'd recommend not going there (and probably buying a new device off kijiji or something)

Very friendly service that will leave you satisfied and not feel guilty for parting with your money. They did a great job and finding a replacement battery for me in under 24hrs and sold me a power adaptor for 40 bucks wich I thought was reasonable and fair. I called and was told that the battery could not be ordered (hard to believe - it's a Dell, and not more than three years old). I said that it would have been good to hear from them so I could then go to another store. Was told that my phone was not working (also not true). I wasted my time. Will not go back.

I experienced really fast and amazing service from ASK computers as they repaired my MacBook Pro within 4 days for really good price where as Apple asked $1675 plus tax and told my whole logic board has to be replaced and apple disregarded my 'Apple care" by pointing out there is a water damage. Personal Opinion: Apple being such advanced is not able to fix the real issue and asks to replace the entire logic part.???????? If Apple rejects to repair bcoz of Water damage ????????ASK computers is the next place you have to go.

Can't say more about how helpful and efficient these guys are! Went in last week to get the fan fixed and it was done the same day, which is something in and of itself, but when I went into the store to pick up the machine, my husband (who is on a walker) was with me. They took one look at him and offered us a ride home! Then, when the power supply went recently, they came and picked the computer up, ordered and replaced the power supply and then delivered it back the next day. PROS Excellent price, amazing customer service, they recovered my data for a fraction of the price the competition wanted and they let me come in to recover my texts for free (technically their fault for not doing it on their own ;p). CONS The experience would have been perfect if they hadn't been so eager for me to leave while I was recovering my texts. I only managed to back up 2500/5000 texts. I walked in here while I was in the area, I had a cracked screen protector. They took it off very fast, and easily. A new one was put on smoothly & seamlessly. I think I spent total 3-5 mins in store. And they charged me only $11 total I would highly recommend going here for a screen protector, it is better value than ordering one on Amazon and spending the time to try to do it yourself.

1) 2011 MacBook Pro 13" USB Ports Not Working & CD/DVD Drive Not Working: This was the second time I went to ASK Computers and they went above and beyond what I asked for. They not only fixed my USB Ports and CD/DVD Drive, but I had forgotten my external hard drive at their store and they personally dropped it off at my place! I was really touched by their act of kindness, and will continue to support them and tell people about them. I'm of the opinion that they're the best in the city. There's a reason they're basically a 5/5 star store. 2) 2011 MacBook Pro 13" Rubber Feet Replacement + Right Arrow Key Replacement: All the good reviews are true. They did the job in roughly 10 minutes. They made it look so easy. You can tell they're experienced. They even gave me extra Rubber Feet in case I lost the new ones. I highly recommend them. And I'll definitely be back for future repairs. PS: if you're driving there don't chance it and not pay for street parking. They're very good at monitoring that area and you WILL get a ticket.

If I could give 10 stars I would. I have always been one to meticulously backup everything and I have a lot of crucial material since I am a Music Producer in NYC for various artists in the USA. The one time when I had to shift things around and didn't have a backup of my production sessions, Murphy's Law happened and I lost everything due to a damaged drive. Not only was the drive damaged but there was additional damaged done to it afterward. Ask Computers did the impossible and recovered not some of my material.....they were able to miraculously recover the whole drive. This is completely unheard of since I've heard many horror stories of people in the music and photography industries losing files for good. I STRONGLY recommend that you travel from wherever you live in the city of Toronto or the GTA to have Ask Computers handle your needs. The staff is exceptionally helpful and pleasant.

I'm here to corroborate the many positive reviews - these people are angels. I spilled water on my 5 year old macbook retina pro, otherwise working great. I took it to an apple affiliated store where they kept it for several days to run a diagnostic and eventually tell me that it would be $700, but that I should buy a new computer. The person I spoke to at ASK computers was able to turn on the computer and assess it immediately, and had it back to me in 2 days for $300. I wish Apple as a brand was as honest and committed to computer waste reduction as ASK is. It's a shame how many computers get thrown out because companies are more interested in increased profit than saving older machines! 5 stars!

My iPhone X was stuck in a restart loop. I took it to the Apple Store and they said it was a hardware issue I needed a new device. In a last attempt to fix the phone, I took it to ASK computers and cell phone repair. These guys (Max in particular) were incredibly helpful, proactive and honest. I went here to get my PC repaired a couple of months back. They charged 200 bucks stating that my PC's motherboard was damaged. After that my laptop worked fine but became very slow. I deleted unnecessary programs but it was still slow. Later I found that they stole my 4 GB RAM and replaced it with 2 GB RAM. Thieves! Please stay away from this place.

I would not be able to write this review if it wasn't for Max's help at Ask Computers. I came home needing to turn on my laptop, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why my charger would not fit into the charging hole after 2 years of fitting perfect. I thought something was broke off and clogging the port but even shined a flashlight in there and couldn't see anything. Max fixed the charger within fifteen minutes. I will definitely be back if I run into any other electronic issues.

Welp...these guys have so far saved me over $2000. First time when my 2011 MacBook Pro was too slow. Instead of upgrading I upped the RAM and added an SSD. They installed everything 2 years ago and it is still running mint (and super fast). But today though...dropped my iPhone in the toilet last week, waited days for an Apple appointment with no phone, the authorized service retailer charged me $220 wasted 3 hours of my time then told me they couldn't fix it. Was about to drop $850 on a new phone, but MY MANZZZZZZ over at ASK fixed my phone for $100 in under 30 minutes. Wish I could give them 10 stars.

Went in for laptop installation of a new SSD and a reapplication of thermal grease. Quoted 1 day, picked up the following day due to issues described below. There was an issue of Windows not booting after imaging the SSD and as a result, the previous programs and settings were not ported over at all. I had basically a "new PC that i had to set up again without my word files". The work was done...as i asked, but i felt that the resulting path taken was the short and easy way out for them, but not for me.

Cracked my week old Nexus 6P screen, ASK had the most competitive price after checking through many different repair shops including the manufacturer referral throughout the GTA. Fixed the screen in a few hours as promised, but there was an issue with the signal after the screen repair. Max drove all the way uptown to my doorstep to help check my phone on a late Friday night and found it was a loose connection. Drove all the way back on Saturday morning just to deliver me the fixed phone - fantastic service and accountability. So far everything's running smoothly and I'm very impressed.

One thing to note though is that when giving them your laptop make sure to also give your password so they can log in and make sure that everything is all good.

Ok, finally the real deal. After walking away from two over priced places, and wasting my money at two other mobile repair shops (FRUSTRATING!!), this one delivered in every way. I needed a new battery on my old iPhone 6s (holding out for a 5G iPhone), and the screen glass was cracked. They discounted their pricing to do both together, and only $20 more than the cheapest option I tried (whose battery was even worse than mine was and screen lasted only two days, DANG!!!). And Apple was going to charge twice as much to repair this old phone!! So I was ready to give up and succumb to Apple’s designed obsolescence and get an X... But then maybe this place’s hundreds of 5 star reviews were for real. I called ASK, they had parts available. They swapped the screen in a half hour and recommended I keep the battery after showing me their testing. What!! Where in this very competitive phone repair market can you find people that actually try to save you money?!?. So I bought just the screen, but they even honored the discount after I decided to come back days later for the new battery, despite the extra time to open the phone a 2nd time. I’ve had the phone now a couple weeks and it’s like a new iPhone: screen is Apple perfect and battery health remains 100%. Good service, fair pricing, quality components. Their slogan should be “What more could you ASK for!?!”

Excellent and honest service! I went in fully prepared to pay $100 to get my broken screen replaced (yes, I dropped it) with visible signs that I am not techy. The employee first told me about a recall I could take advantage of which I didn't know (kudos #1) and then after weighing options, he suggested I get a new phone from my provider, Fido, which was around the corner since I was probably due for a free upgrade (kudos #2) and then he would just charge me $60 for data recovery (kudos #3). So I walked out paying less money and got a new phone for free!

I have been looking over all Toronto for a place that will fix my broken laptop screen. Every place I went to was charger way too much of what I needed fix or turned me away because they were unable to. When our figure skating show Stars On Ice came to Toronto, we had a video computer that was on the fritz. When I brought the computer to Ask, I told them we had a show the next night and that it was very important to the video aspects of our show that it be fixed in timely manner. Don't trust any of these reviews, I guarantee they're all fake. Brought in my computer to have the hard drive fixed and they offered a cheap price. Said they would call within a couple of days, almost a week later I had to call to find out if I was still going to get my computer back. I got what I paid for, had to go back three times for different problems and each time they insisted nothing was wrong even though I have more problems than I ever had before. Had a USB that was not working. In a matter of 30m they figured out what was wrong, fixed it and got out very important files that were on it. It was a hardware damage issue which they fixed in the USB chip to help save the data on the device. I totally recommend them for data recovery especially!

I recently had a major water spill accident on my brand new macbook air and Ask Computers were absolute heroes to save my computer! After being told by Apple that pretty much everything is damaged and the cost of repair would be just $20 less than a new macbook, my fiancee found this company on google and they were able to do an estimate within 20 min and were able to repair a couple of damaged parts, magically dry out the rest for a fraction of the cost and all in 72 hours! They carry a warranty on their repairs and Mani was wonderful at following up a few days after to make sure everything was ok. I highly recommend this company! I had a faulty iPhone X screen that went black and would not turn on no matter what I tried. Went to Apple. After updating the software and the phone not turning on, they recommended restoring the phone (which would lead to the loss of all my photos). I refused. I was then told that either way, even if got the data off my phone, that it would need to be wiped prior to being fixed or fully replaced. I thankfully found this store online. Went in and within a minute, they had opened my phone and tested to see if the issue was the screen. I was told I could change the screen or get the data off my phone. Their prices are very reasonable and better than Apple. The MOST important thing to note is that not only did I get my phone back up and running, I did not lose any of my data. Very professional and courteous!

Fantastic place. I had accidentally spilled some tea on my MacBook Pro (2012/13) edition and was told by an Apple technician (at AllServ Canada) that there was an issue with the logic board, the hard drive was dead, an external keypad didn’t work and it was best that I just purchase a newer model as mine was considered vintage and not worth the repair. I’m so, so glad I came across Ask Computers through a google search - they’ve been incredible to work with. I had called them first describing my issue and they said there’s a 90/95% chance that it could be fixed. They did their diagnostics and turns out, my hard drive wasn’t dead (just slow) and an external keyboard worked just fine. All I needed was a new keypad. Call the day of, and "ask" if the tech is in before you go to ASK Computers. I was told the tech was in from 10am the day before, so I went ahead and just showed up at 12pm. When I got there the Indian guy at the desk said the service guy wouldn't be in until 2pm. What kind of executive hours is the iPhone fixer doing?! What's worse, is if you do a Google search for "iPhone repair Toronto" ASK*** freaking ***computers keeps showing up at the top of the search, when all you want is the closest repair place to your location. When the tech guy is there an iPhone screen can be replaced for $75.00 with cheaper Chinese glass, but who knows when you'll be able to pick up your phone.

Incredibly responsive, reasonably priced, maybe a bit too quick with their work. Brought in a coffee adverse macbook so needed to get it properly detailed and it was brought to my attention the keyboard needed replacing. Two days later, got called in to pick up in the early afternoon but the keyboard wasn't full operational when I went and tested it. Left it with them for the balance of the afternoon to sort out and got back what feels almost good as new (F7 key is a bit stickier but not worth the hassle/cost to fix). Thanks!

My laptop would just not switch on. Went to ASK and they ran a diagnostic. Apparently there was a defective power port. They not only replaced the power port but also re-soldered a chip on the motherboard that was loose as a manufacturing defect. Their prices are very reasonable as well. Brought in my iPhone 7 plus that had broken a year before. It had pictures of my trip to Australia that I really wanted to retrieve. The tech literally took apart my phone in seconds right in front of me to inspect and test the circuitry.(Very impressive) He told me the issues and the approximate time and cost to retrieve the photos. Alright, so here's the deal. I fell on my laptop bag, while slipping on some ice as I ran down the stairs. Laptop was mostly fine except for a cracked screen. And I have an assignment due that week which requires me working on the laptop, so I am now in immediate need of a repair shop to repair my laptop. Problem is, my laptop has a touch screen, and most places don't deal with touch screens so I was sure that I as out of luck, but then I happen to contact these guys, and they tell me that it is more than doable and in 2 days no less. So I get over there, hand them the laptop and they tell me to see me the next day. And sure enough, the next day, my laptops fixed and ready to be picked up. Works like a charm, and screen looks as good as new. If not, even better than when I first got it. Amazing service, very reasonable price, and extremely efficient. A definite recommend!

I went to Ask Computers a few months ago because my Alienware was having gaming issues. My games would just keep crashing. I brought in my computer to have them look at the problem, within a couple of days they called me back and told me they could not re-create the problem. So they told me to come and pick it up free of charge!!! I had another store look at it and they charged me $80 to do some "diagnostic" which didn't fix the problem. I liked how Ask Computer was extremely honest! I guess it was just a fluke as my PC has been working OK up until now... Ask Computers told me that if the problem happening they could help me swap out the video card for a new one. I will absolutely go back to them over this weekend! Great service overall, the staff was friendly and polite!

Ask Computers saved our brand new iMac. Less than three weeks after we bought our new computer, our apartment building was lost in a fire, and many of our belongings were lost as well. Our computer seemed fine on the outside, but we were informed by our adjustor that the smoke was filled with chemicals that would actually corrode and eventually destroy the computer, as well as every time it turned on, it would fill the room with chemical smoke smell. Other places quoted us up to $1000 to transfer files off our smoke-damaged hard drive and the Apple Store said our computer would simply need to be replaced. For less than half of what we were quoted, the guys at Ask Computer repaired both our hard drive and our computer and they work great, and don't smell like smoke at all. We are incredibly grateful. These guys rule. Shop local!!

AMAZING SERVICE!!! I cracked my IPhone 8+ screen and after looking at reviews of all the phone repair services in Toronto it was the best, and closest to my location! A problem came up while they were replacing my screen (manufacturing defect or something) and they repaired that as well. At the end of their service, they gave me 10% discount because of the wait (their wait time is usually an hour, but because of the defect it was a bit longer in my case) as well as a screen protector for free. I felt like a valued customer almost right away after dropping off my repair. Needed a phone for my 11 year old and my sister had an old iPhone 7 with a smashed screen. Decided to bring it here and from the get go when I came in this place felt right. Not a big chain but also felt like a big time repair shop. Before I had even left the store I had a text notification about the repair process. The price was competitive, the service seemed amazing, but I cut a star off the rating because that initial text I received about updates was the only one I received. I expected to be notified at the very least when the job was done but 2.5 hours after I dropped it off I went in to the store and they pulled it off the shelf where there were a number of phones stored. It had been ready for a long time but I was not kept in the loop or advised.

This place is a hidden gem if you’re looking to fix your electronics. Their work is impeccable and honestly at par quality at a fraction of a cost. I got my iPhone XS Max repaired here for what Apple told me was a “water damage” whereas all I had was a faulty display and surprising enough just outside my warranty. Apple was charging me $770 for a phone replacement as they didn’t want to repair it. So i first went to Apple and they've told me about data recovery agency. So when i got home I've made some research and called the first one I found. Being desperate and high on emotions I was willing to pay anything it'll took to get all of my data plus my notes. But finally i came down from my emotional roller coster and made some more research and that's when I found this place. Not only were the price reasonable they were able to recover my notes, that my Icloud didn't backed up , as well as my full photo and video library.

The work was clean and precise, and I would recommend and use them again for my precision repair needs. Thank you ASK Computers and Phone Repairs for SAVING my, much cherished, Alienware 15R3. I am in your debt ! Respectfully --- For anyone reading the review, the laptop was opened to correct a greatly known issue with Alienware laptops and cooling issues whereby Dell/Alienware are using inferior and low quality CPU thermal paste. Go figure! After much research, reverted to using Grizzly Kryonaut (and Fujipoly pads) instead of Conductonaut (liquid metal) because I did not want to take the laptop apart every 6 months to ensure the "liquid metal" was still intact, NOT leaking, and NOT corroding the CPU/GPU and thermal block, which has been reported to be quite common and well documented. Do your research before proceeding, AND WATCH THAT EDP CONNECTOR !!! BTW, I reduced thermal values by 20-30 degrees C without having to go to liquid metal. P.S. You will, probably, need to provide a new EDP 0.5mm 40pin EDP connector, and hopefully you have not damaged any of the pads on the motherboard. They are referenced in forums and found on eBay. P.S.S. The battery bloated/buckled after 4 years, and cracked the front palm rest, which also required self replacement and self repair. Laptop is 100% again. Palm rest (top) and new battery were ~$100 each. Best...

I rarely leave any reviews but had to write about my great experience. I had salt water damage on my iPhone X and two repair shops said nothing could be done about my phone and data recovery was impossible. Ask Computers was able to take apart the logic board which is made up of 2 parts and was able to pair it and recover the data. Even after doing so, it was highly unstable and the phone kept turning off before a full recovery could be done. But after a week of work, they were able to fully recover my data! This place can do things other repair shops cannot. I would highly recommend their service as the only place to go to for phone repairs and data recovery.

Took my Asus All-in-One to ASK Computers because it was having some issues (freezing a lot, Blue Screen errors). A week later Max let me know that he found the problem and was very honest with me and said he doesn't think it's worth investing the money to repair (as the same problem would return). Definitely sucks but I greatly appreciated his honesty. He also did not charge me for diagnosing the problem. Other repair shops might have suggested doing the repair anyways, simply for the business. Overall a great experience and trustworthy people. I would definitely take any other electronics there in the future should I need to.

I love this place! They are fast, friendly and affordable. They are also great with Macs! Sometimes it can take days to get an appointment at the genius bar, but this place accepts walk-ins. Recently my Macbook Pro broke down and I needed it fixed ASAP. I couldn't get an appointment at the apple store for 3 days which I couldn't wait for as I was on a deadline. ASK fixed the problem immediately, which I was extremely grateful for. I highly recommend them for all you Mac repairs :)

They're awesome! So so helpful. I came in with a phone that had been rendered useless by Apple retail repair, with all of my data still locked inside it. Within a couple days, they got the phone working so that my data could be recovered, and began backing up. But when they got to backing up my photos, they just wouldn't upload to iCloud. They tried a bunch of different solutions, but when none of them worked, they were so determined to help me out that took the last resort step to manually (ie one-by-one) upload every single one of my 4500 photos to Dropbox! they could have just called it quits and given me back the phone, but they didn't. Highly recommend their services!

TLDR: Amazing. Gory details: I had an old MacBook Pro (2013) that had become inexplicably slow. I researched what might have caused this and tried a lot of different things -- uninstalled software, ran virus scans, disk utility, Dr. Cleaner, etc. None of them had much of an impact and it got to the point where it had slowed down SO MUCH that it had become unusable. I'm talking like, click on Chrome, age 10 years. It was *painful*. I was contemplating getting a new MacBook Pro but didn't want to get rid of this one -- it was generally a good machine and I didn't want to lose all the pricey pre-cloud software I had on it. I brought it to the guys at ASK Computer and what a difference it made! The assessed it very quickly -- the older mechanical HDD was the problem. They cloned it (so no loss of data or applications) and upgraded me to an SSD. It's not an exaggeration to say it feels like a brand new laptop. I could have spent $2,500 on a brand new Mac Pro and lost all of my software (which would have cost a lot to replace too), but instead spent less than a tenth of that (and kept all my applications). I could not recommend these guys more -- courteous, professional, GREAT value, tremendous expertise, and very efficient. Hats off to you gents. This is one very happy customer.

I brought my macbook air in that after some some review, was determined to have water damage. The computer was repaired and a number of things replaced in order to get to working condition, wasnt cheap, but what i found very helpful was the customer service afterwards. I had some subsequent minor issues, and all of it was reviewed, they did all of the followup changes and repairs quickly and at no additional cost. You can feel confident they will make sure that you are more than satisfied with the help they have provided.

Initially went to the Eaton Apple store to see their “Geniuses” was greeted with a new hire still in training working with their training buddy. After their diagnoses(essentially plugging the phone to see if it charged) they informed me I needed to replace my iPhone 8 with no hope of data recovery. Decided to get a second opinion at Ask Computers & Cellphone repair. Their team actually opened up my iPhone 8 and identified the problem (corrosion). Ask Computers was able to clean up the corrosion, back up my iPhone 8 data and get my phone back into working order. In addition I had faulty hard drive with my MacBook Air, Ask Computers was able to offer a more cost effective solution than Apple. Went here after visiting other stores to get my phone fixed after it had gone through water damage. Two of the stores said it was impossible to fix the phone and to recover the data, and one place said there was a 70% chance of ONLY recovering the data and it would cost around $400. When I came here, the staff kindly listened to what had happened and was able to retrieve the data on my phone and even fix my phone for just $150! I live 1.5 hrs away from Toronto and they fixed the phone in less than an hour, saving me a trip to come back. Overall excellent and very fast service. Highly recommend! Thanks so much once again!

I dropped coffee on my MacBook Pro. Apple told me that since it is an old computer (2011!!) they no longer have keyboards available for this model. Amazing service! Would highly recommend! Initially took my dad's lap-top to be fixed - they were very responsive, diagnosed the issue (trackpad, battery) and repaired it quickly for $200. Few days later my phone fell and would not switch on. Took it to the Apple Store which ran diagnostics test and said there is nothing they can do. As a last-ditch attempt to salvage at least data from the phone, I took it to ASK computers. They miraculously managed to fix the phone which is now working perfectly!

My laptop hard drive just fried itself, foolish me didn't back anything up (lesson learned). Took my laptop in on Monday got it back in under 48 hours, new hard drive, upgraded ram and with their hard work and a bit of luck they retrieved and transferred the data. Great value for $, close to home and done expediently. My first time for something this major with these guys will definitely be going back.

It's taken me way too long to write a review. I broke my iphone screen twice within the span of one month. Both times it was fixed in a timely manner. One of the employees told me to buy this 20 dollar screen protector, I was hesitant because I never see the point in that stuff since screens always crack but got it anyways. Fast forward to me "cracking" my screen again. I go back, only to have the guy show me that it was the glass screen protector that cracked and that my screen was in perfect condition! He then gave me a new screen protector free of charge. Great customer service! I've sent so many people there and they always have a great experience!

I handed my laptop to them to fix the power button and I was told they are going to order the replacing piece and it would cost me ~$100. Every time I call to double check the price it goes higher. Next thing I know, they took the volume button and replaced it to my power button and it cost me even more? They didn’t even ask for my consent. I went there with a broken laptop got out with a less broken laptop. It works tho now but I dont have one of the volume buttons

I can recommend this place to anyone who has an issue with their phone! I've been to this place now two times and I can't be more satisfied with their service. The first time it was just a normal screen change because mine was broken. But ghe second time, my phone was literally bent and even the camera didn't work at all. As I arrived at the place they were at closing the store but anyway he promised me to fix it within 30 minutes. Regarding the fact that I just got my phone repaired about a month ago at their place, they offered my a very nice discount and I even got a screen protector for free. They would not provide me a quote over the phone. Even during this pandmeic, they could have easily asked for the serial or model number over the phone to look it up. I had called a few places and was quoted $60-75 to fix a simple charging port, but decided to go to this place as it was closer to my home. When I walked in the man obviously noticed I was a female who had limited knowledge about computers and was in a situation where I needed my computer to work from home and quoted me at $125 - what a crook !!! Do not use their service, I gladly took a 20 minutes bike ride to Danforth and paid $75

After receiving such outstanding service, I felt compelled to leave my first ever Google review! My iPhone 6 got stuck on an endless boot loop as I was backing it up. Nothing was uploaded to iCloud, and I was worried about losing all my important data on my phone. 2 separate Apple technicians diagnosed it as a battery issue, after hours of tech support. One call to ASK, and within minutes, the technician told me he was quite certain it was a logic board issue, and provided me with a quote. No promises were made that my data could be saved, and I really appreciated their honesty! My phone was old, and had already refurbished, but they were my best shot. Long story short: accurate diagnosis, and they somehow managed to work a miracle and retrieve my data from my phone! And, the quote I was given is what I was charged. Bonus points for their patience in dealing with me remotely, as I was not able to come into the store myself. Can't recommend them enough! Yesterday my iPhone 7 developed the audio ic failure. I could not use the phone to hear or talk, voice memos didn’t work, grayed out speaker icon when attempting to make a call. I’m an airline pilot and currently traveling. So it was a really bad time to happen since scheduling and changes occur and my phone is my lifeline. When I arrived in Toronto earlier today a googled the issue and located this store a short walk from my hotel. I called and explained the situation. I rushed down the street to drop it off and went to the St Lawrence market and a movie while I waited. They fixed my problem and now I’m back in business - literally. Thank you for the quick fix. I had went to t apple but they just wanted me to buy a new phone or pay hundreds of dollars for a repair that would be completed in a few days. This place was far cheaper and faster. Much appreciated. I would recommend this shop to friends. Leaving now in a few hours with a fixed phone.

I brought them a water damaged MacBoo a while go. They fixed it in a couple of days while they assessed the problem. I was coming from far away so he even offered it to drop it off on the way home. These guys are great at what they do. I have been using the laptop for a little while before writing this and it works great. But they offer some warranty anyway. 5 Star Amazing and Quick Service! I snapped off the usb port end off my old external hard drive and after looking at reviews of all hard drive repair services in Toronto, ASK was by far the best (and conveniently, the closest). I wasn't sure if they would be able to fix my hard drive but after going on their website, a live chat popped up and I was asked what they could help me with. I told them my issue and they suggested that I bring in my device so that they could take a look at it in person. After I brought my hard drive in, they took a look at it and told me that if the drive itself still works, they could just put a different casing on it (and to come back in an hour). When I returned to pick it up, they had re-attached the mini-USB port that had snapped off and told me that I could access my files. I even ended up paying less than what they originally quoted me because they said the solution resulted in not being able to put a different outer case back on. I am more than happy because the drive works again and was fixed in FAR less time than I thought it would take!!

Maaz literally saved my iPhone 6S after a really bad water damage from a jet ski flood, I thought I lost 5 years of data but he was very patient & knowledgeable on how to extract all my 40000 photos & 5000 videos along with my 1500 contacts. I managed to spill an entire cup of tea onto my keyboard, I called and asked what they could do and they *IMMEDIATELY* took it in for a repair. In a few hours my laptop was fixed, battery replaced and they completely saved/fixed not only all of my data but the entire laptop itself is in working order. They were all friendly, extremely (extremely) fair priced for an emergency repair and I cannot express enough how grateful I am. Highly recommend Ask computers if you need to get any of your old VHS or 8mm tapes converted to digital. They were able to answer all of my questions and even helped me out when my laptop cd drive stopped working for a bit. Brought my wife's macbook air here to try to recover the data on it after she broke the screen. The gentlemen here were quick and knew what they were doing. He asked me what documents I wanted to save and gave me the cost for the work. within an hour called me and told me it was finished. No extra charges or anything. My wife was desperate for a particular file and after getting home and checking out the data it turns out the doc she needed was saved in a folder I hadn't asked to back up. He told us to come back and he would search for it again. This was after the store had closed! The guy stayed past closing to help us even though it was my mistake! No extra cost again. And the prices here were better than the big brand name stores we had gone to previously who were unable to help us. This is my new go to spot for any laptop or cell phone issues!

I brought in a macbook that was previously repaired poorly by another third party and I was led to believe by the Apple genius bar that it was fried and beyond repair. I got caught in a torrential rainstorm and my MacBook got wet inside my bag. When it wouldn’t turn on I was panicked! Apple said it was ruined, another place said it could be fixed but would take 2 weeks. I brought it to ASK and they were able to fix it that day! Guys did an amazing job on my iphone x cracked screen repair. Took them 2 hours and charged a good price. Earlier in the day, I had gone to the Apple genius bar and they were extremely rude and told me the phone could not be fixed because there was a dent to the outer case ($700 to replace the entire phone! and $450 to replace the screen, which couldnt be done because of the dent). Not a problem for the ASK Computers team. They take payment after the job has been finished. exceptional customer experience!

TLDR: amazing service, great prices, miracle workers I dropped my iPhone 6 in water (again) a few weeks ago and was unable to turn it off, so it just pretty much fried till it shut down and I couldn't turn it on. I brought it in to a place near me where they water cleaned it and did a bunch of stuff, but told me they couldn't fix it or get it to turn on, and that I needed someone experienced in logic boards. They seemed sympathetic and said it might be possible for someone to retrieve my data but it might not be likely. So, I googled logic board iPhone repair and saw this place, and thought what do I have to lose, I don't want to lose my pictures which I haven't backed up, because I'm a dummy. So I bring my phone in, and not only are they able to retrieve the data, they're able to get the phone actually working again. The screen has kind of a burn in effect from whatever I'm viewing previously,, so it very lightly shows the prior screen but it's almost imperceptible. They offered to replace the screen for a good price, but said the phone works, I can back up my pictures, and I might notice lowered battery life. I paid $125 for the data retrieval which was my expectation for a phone that no longer works. But for that price I actually got my phone back, a phone I was told was likely fried. Highly recommend!! They know their stuff.

Great service and quick turnaround. Went to them with a shattered screen on my IPhone XR and by shattered I mean so bad that the cracks were not just contained to the front of the phone but the back was shattered as well and I regretted keeping my phone on the gym floor for a minute while working out and by mistake putting the dumbell right on top of the screen. The gentlemen at ASK not only fixed the screen but also gave me a screen protector free of cost what else can you ask for! Highly recommend their service! :)

The second time, they downloaded a patch from Samsung to fix a glitch and didn't charge me anything. They are friendly, efficient and very competent. I've owned and broken my apple electronics for nearly 10 years now and I've never ventured out of apple genius bar for my repairs even when my macbook was out of warranty. On Thursday night I spilled water all over my trackpad and my laptop started being wonky so I unplugged it and turned it off for the night thinking it would dry, and then the next day it wouldn't turn on at all. Friday afternoon I went to the Genius bar who said that my entire logic board needed to be replaced, and that it would be 630 CAD including tax and would take 7-10 business days. I had an exam on Monday so that was a huge no, and dropped by ASK Computers. They finished the repair in 2 hours and I paid $280 including tax, and my computer is literally as good as new. The only downside to all of this is that I realize I way overpaid for all of my previous repairs with Apple, but I guess that just goes to show how impressed I was with ASK.

I have a touchscreen laptop that had a broken hinge which was causing problems with the screen. I called about five places downtown Toronto and Ask was the only place that would even dare try to fix the problem, everywhere else flat-out said they did not deal with touchscreen laptops. This place was really honest with me in telling me up-front both what the repair would cost AND that the repair was risky and that there was a chance they might crack the screen. They completed the repair, it went smoothly, and they actually charged me slightly less than what I anticipated. Huge relief. My only comments are that they should call with updates (I kept having to call them), and that the work definitely wasn't very cheap. But overall good experience, totally worth it, will go there again if needed. Thanks guys!

Edit: I'm going to have to have to edit my review - these guys are not honest — I really wish this wasn't the truth. They make you pay $100 approx for an iPhone 7 plus screen change and promise you that the screen is 100% authentic, well I found out later it was not. They use fake screens, and I'm willing to provide proof. 2. For Mac repairs, they charge $100 more than the market average and give you a 90-day warranty, while others offer six months. I'll conclude by saying these guys simply do not understand customer service and are dishonest. Avoid.

On Friday morning we woke up to my husbands phone not working. When we went to bed it was fine. After much googling we realized it was in a "boot loop". We took the phone into a 2 cell phone repair places, Best Buy, and Bell Canada. Got the same answer from each place "Nothing we can do, you will have to reset the phone and loose everything." We were mortified. How could this be it? Since my husband never backed up his phone in years we were about to loose our kids baby photos, family trips, videos, everything! I called Samsung and after a long conversation, same answer- wipe the phone... I wasn't ready to give up, so I started looking up data recovery. That's when I came across @askcomputers. I called the store and got an honest answer of 60/40 chance of recovery. Finally someone able to help!!! I drove the phone to Toronto on Saturday. Sunday (when the store wasn't even open) they called and were able to recover all the pictures and fix the phone!!!! I can't Express how incredibly amazing this company is!
