There is no other Computer store in the area that you should deal with PERIOD. I have done business with these fine folks for over the past two years for both my business and my family members. The amount of experience and professionalism that they offer can't be compared to anyone I have ever dealt with in the past. My very first experience with them had me hooked for life. My server had suffered a melt down and even though it was running on no legs Yale was able to recover my data and get me back to good in a short period of time. Since then they have developed proper fail safe protection for all my machines and server, remote backups and monthly maintenance. They have highly skilled people who can also do onsite service if it is required which I have also utilized in the past. I have zero fear any more of any type of data loss regardless of circumstances which allows me to sleep comfortable at night. They have a solution for pretty much every need be it for your laptop or personal PC/Mac or if you are into home entertainment you have to check out their Android boxes that allow you to watch pretty much ANYTHING you are looking for. Probably one of the best testimonials to their skill sets is that they were able to take my Mother's laptop and make it SUPER user friendly for her, simplify what she needs and wants and make her not afraid of Windows 10. She absolutely loves her laptop again and can do all the things she wants without any doubts. The fact that I'm not having to go "fix" her computer after Sunday dinner any longer is worth all the money in the world. Yale, Tony, Ryan, Julia and their crew of professionals are the best! Go there just once like I did, you will never go anywhere else ever again I promise you!

DONT WASTE UR MONEY HERE. Staff is ignorant and rude. My gf brought in her computer for water damage and spent over $300 on drying and a new keyboard. At that time they promised all parts of the computer are carefully examined and all water has been taken care of. One week later her computer stopped working again. We brought the computer back to repair. Another week later, we were told the motherboard is damaged due to the water, which they claimed to be completely examined and taken care of in the first time. The worst part was the repair guy admitted that he DIDNT TAKE APART the computer after we sent it back - he just told us this computer is definitely unrepairable due to water damage so he wouldn’t even bother checking again.

This is the worst small shop on Best Buy which is rapidly defaming Best Buy with the rude staff and unacceptably poor service. Unforeseen computer issues always seem so daunting... My computer stopped working completely one night this week....initially doing some failed online-troubleshooting myself, I eventually resigned and ended up taking it over to CS Depot--partially due to local convenience; partially due to seeing good reviews online--they took what started as a really bad situation (needing a whole new computer, basically) and instead worked with me to find an affordable, alternative solution; they dedicated the extra time into actually helping FIX the problem, rather than just trying to convince me there was no hope and up-sell me a new stock computer instead - the convenient solution in our 'throw-away' society. In the end, I've received a machine back that's running smoother than ever (so far, so good!)--even if it is with an upgraded OS that I didn't really want/ask for... >.> Thanks so much Tony and team, for your help throughout; the efficiency, and down-to-earth professionalism really made for a great experience in the end, considering the crummy circumstance. I will certainly recommend in the future! PS - thanks again to Nicole for toting my computer tower back home for me. =)

I purchased a great Lenovo laptop from Computer Service Depot through the Best Buy Marketplace. I am so pleased with my purchase that I have vowed NEVER again to buy a laptop from a big box store. For a paltry $1691.96 (including taxes) I got a superb machine that vastly outperforms and is far more reliable than any laptop I have ever owned. (I have owned many HP, ASUS, Acer, Sony, etc. models). Here are its basic specs: Lenovo E595 Laptop with AMD Ryzen 5-3500U CPU, 15.6" FHD Screen, AMD Radeon Vega Integrated Graphics, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD, Windows 10 Pro, 3-year extended warranty at no additional cost (no hassle dealing with aggressive salespeople) ALL FOR $1497.00 plus HST! If you want a 16" MacBook Pro with 16 GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD, you'll have to shell out $3999, not including HST. Naturally, the MacBook Pro has lots of additional bells and whistles, but I (and I suspect most people) have no use for them. I would much prefer to keep the additional $2826.91 in my pocketbook, thank you very much! This machine is a BEAST! I have run the following simultaneously and the laptop hardly broke a sweat: 2 virtual machines, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Word and Excel (multiple files open), Chrome (logged on to 2 different accounts with numerous tabs open), TeamViewer, Thunderbird, Foxit Phantom PDF, and a few other lesser-known apps. I received the laptop within 2 days of having ordered it. It arrived in perfect condition with Windows and all drivers updated. After installing A LOT of software, I did not notice any significant slowdown in boot-up time or overall performance. From now on, it's Lenovo and Computer Service Depot all the way! My days of grappling with driver issues, unreliable hardware, generally cheap quality, and pushy salespeople are over!

went in there to buy a new laptop and had the pleasure of interacting with knowledgeable staff that weren't just trying to make a sale, but rather find a laptop that is perfect for me. They literally printed out a list of competitors who sold a product they didn't have, and showed it to me so that i could see the price and quality differences. Ended up buying a lovely asus laptop (which came with a student discount). Would defineltey recommend this place to anyone buying a PC. Will say that they don't a huge quantity like Best Buy since they are a small store. But unlike many of my interactions with Best Buy the staff really know what they are selling

The manager, I was talking to, was unpleasant, arrogant and rude. He kept interrupting me, arguing and embarrassing me in front of my son, though he had no clue what he was talking about. At the end he refused to sell me the part I was looking for, turned his back to me going into his tiny room behind the counter. I left the store, which is located in Waterloo (King/Columbia intersection), with heavy feelings and I am not coming back. P.S.: All the parts, that I was looking for to upgrade my son's computer (including the case and 24x12 PSU Adapter), I was able to find in Canada Computers store, which is located just a cross of the street.

Charged me $60 to take a look at my laptop's issue as my touchpad wasn't able to press down (still worked via touch). Wanted to charge another $200 to replace the plastic touchpad square, but they wouldn't tell me exactly why and what was wrong with it. Ended up taking it back and asking a friend to open it up. We made some simple manual fixes and took an hour from start to finish, including research. Really regret bringing it in as I could have saved that initial $60.

I came here simply because it was next door to my house. I was just amazed at the service I got. The showroom is beautiful. Visually it's not cluttered and allows you to keep focus. The sales people were attendant to my needs and spend a lot of time with me, way more than I have ever had at any big box store. I recommend them from all my heart. I am sow happy cause I found them here in Waterloo. If you want to buy anything that's related to a computer (desktops, laptops, tablets you name it) you can find it here. Even if they don't have it right away - they can bring that device for you. I had very bad experience with other big stores like Canada Computers witch they hire students and they don't have a clue about computers. Also they don't have a phone number where you can call or email and you will end up talking with robots or receive no reply emails. Here's my story and why I highly recommend CSD: I had a crashing problem on my laptop and took it to CSD for repair. After seemingly getting it repaired, and paying my bill, I was dismayed to find the machine still crashed. This may seem like a disgruntled customer, BUT These guys stayed with my problem, took ownership of it, persevered and finally resolved my issue. With no additional fees charged to me. In my opinion this is all you can ask for from a repair depot. Many other places would have either abandoned the job, or charged more and more. My laptop has been working flawlessly after the final repair. That's what I came in for.

Terrible market place seller. I ran into issues with purchasing their product through Bestbuy after days on the phone with best buy and being advised to report Computer Depot as fraud to my visa their computer arrives out of nowhere. After trying to resolve the issue and to give them the computer back (already got my money back from visa due to the shady transaction) they weren’t able to understand the issue and blamed me for their lack of management. They took zero responsibility for their terrible mistake and the level of interaction is beyond acceptable. Horrible customer service with zero responsibility and integrity. The store manager, Adam, is beyond unhelpful and did not understand a thing about the issue per his report back to bestbuy - just total nonesense.

Where do I even start, my entire experience has been nothing but amazing. Especially Shayna, if you're reading this you go girl. Took my brand new top of the line Lenovo laptop in after it died in a week (lesson learned just cause they say it's the best it's not true). Within a day or so I was told that it had a dead motherboard which they said is unheard of for this laptop to do in a week and immediately said they'll order the part for me. Shayna was in contact with met throughout and updating me. A month and more passed and I was too busy to follow up I get a call from Shayna saying Lenovo is being a pain in the a** and I have to wait longer for the part. Being the customer service goddess she is she gave them a piece of her mind saying they need to fix it now which actually worked because they sent me a brand new replacement laptop that is the same or better spec. Computer Depot even offered me data transfer service which I didn't need. Throughout the entire process she kept me in the loop. Not to mention calling in the shop to get an update was a breeze too. All in all, if it didn't void my warranty I would break my laptop again just to deal with these amazing people again. Thanks y'all and keep up the good work!

Not my personal review, but mom had a hard time getting what she needed... She brought in her laptop which had a dead pixel on the screen recently. When she first communicated what was wrong over the phone, she was told they could replace the entire laptop as she received it as a gift from us for Christmas. There was a delay because of supply, so she waited to hear back. Once the supply was in, she brought in her laptop. There were two people at the counter when she explained again it was a dead pixel in the screen and she was to receive a new unit. Either they didn't write it down or forgot, because when she received her bill and the unit, the contents were jumbled from a cleanup, but the dead pixel was still there. She asked again for the unit to be replaced and they said they were sorry for the mixup. This time on the phone she was told she could pickup her laptop within an hour. When she called back to see if it was available, she was told in a rather snarky tone that it would still be 19 hours to finish. When she asked what needed to be finished, it was determined that again they were doing something completely different than what was asked - they were loading her two external hard-drives onto the laptop from her previous desktop. Something that was not discussed or asked for. Eventually she received the new laptop as requested initially. Major communication breakdown it seems - not impressed with the service even though we've used them for years previous without any issues.

technician refused to do cloud backup on my data even after 2 reps on separate calls took my private login credentials and told me it could be done free of charge since it's so simple. technician tried to make me come in for an appointment to backup my data MYSELF but WITH him for $60. he wanted a quick $60 so bad refused to follow a customer order. spoke to 3 reps who told me 3 diff stories. by the time i got the right story- that a cloud backup was never even attempted- the store was closing in an hour and i couldn't make it through rush hour to get my device. now i'm stuck staying up all night re-creating my documents from scratch for a huge meeting tomorrow. i'm so disappointed the promise from 3 diff reps that my data would be backed up on my cloud was never met. I even offered to pay but technician simply would not do it. such a simple thing could've helped me loads. was so prepared to give 5 stars & referrals. thanks for nothing

I could not be more grateful for Tony and Ryan at the Computer Service Depot. I don't know how but Tony managed to turn on my completely dead phone which wouldn't charge and which Apple told me was broken. My phone had pictures on it which had not been backed up anywhere and Apple said I needed to replace my phone !! I was completely devastated that I was about to lose the 5000 pictures on my phone. After finding out the phone was okay Ryan helped me set up the process on One Drive and they backed up all my pictures on there and even did my laptop pictures and backed them up to a hard drive. After a couple days I managed to get both my devices back and my laptop and phone are all backed up. Absolutely great customer service and I thank them so much for all they did!! I would recommend them to anyone with phone or computer problems they will definitely do their very best to make you a happy costumer and fix whatever problem you have!

Recently purchased a new desk top from CSD. Its a great desk top and thanks to the staff its exactly what I asked for. I dealt with several people including the owner. I was treated with respect and appreciation and an old fashion customer service mentality which is rare these days! Also, they never even tried to "up sell" me on anything. Broke my laptop about two weeks ago and brought it to computer depot. The staff was extremely helpful and tried to repair my computer. Ultimately it needed replacing. Let me start by saying that the staff were very friendly. My 3 star review comes from my frustration with the service. I initially called and spoke to a technician about my external hard drive that had failed (it wasn't mounting but the light was turning on and the disc was spinning). He told me that I could come in to get a diagnosis of the problem ($60), which would take about 10 minutes (i.e. they would be able to tell me whether they can easily recover the files or if it would need to be sent for further evaluation). I told them that I would be coming from out of town (approximately 1 hour drive) and the gentlemen told me their hours and to come at any time. I showed up and to my surprise, diagnosis wasn't 10 minutes because the technician had left. So I had to leave my hard drive there. They took down my information and they said they would contact me if they could transfer and recover my files. Later on that evening I got a call back asking what operating system I used (a Mac). Well it turns out they don't have recovery software for Macs so they couldn't do anything for me. I am/was very frustrated because I felt like my time could have been saved if that information was asked at my initial phone consult. But instead, I wasted gas and time to come to this place (TWICE) to find out they can't recover items because of Time Machine. They told me to go to Apple because they can recover it for me. I immediately went to Apple and the technician told me Time Machine has nothing to do with anything and that the images should be recoverable. So thats that. I am now left to look for other companies who offer recovery services. Apple has recommended Recovery Force so I will be following up with them. I should mention that I am happy that they did not charge me the $60. Overall my 3 stars comes from my frustration that if they would have asked the proper questions at initial consult, I wouldn't have wasted my time.

Really bad service attitude. The manager there doesn’t respect their customer at all. When I went there to get a new keyboard, there was an old lady trying to get a tv box, but the manager wanted her to upgrade to a network tv plan, which she has no idea about and doesn’t really need. The lady was trying to refuse and get just the basic plan,but the manager didn’t listen to her at all, interrupted her words every single time (for at least 3 times) and spoke to her very very loudly. I stayed there for about 15 mins and this totally impolite conversation lasted for 15 mins and didn’t stop until I left.
