I was out on the market for about a year now hunting for a new high end notebook, So I decided to go with the macbook pro 15 inch, I got in contact with Sia at restart computers after researching whats available both in nanaimo and victoria for an apple store, they had my paper work ready within a few hours I drove down to restart computers to pick up my macbook.when I entered the store I was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff, signed the paper works and within 5 minutes I was good to go , I would like to thank restart computers for giving me a exceptional customer experience and service, I will be coming back for more. This macbook pro is fast performance combined with efficient styling and an OS that works out of the box without having to clean out crapware (a la Windows)! I can't think of how this could be better.Highly recommend this mac to Dj’s And Video Editors 2gb video ram sure does help a lot. The best computer I ever had so far, A true stunner that cannot be beat!

What can I say? Compared to the box store experience I have just had, the team (particularly Marco) at Restart were a dream to deal with. In fact, my MacBook Air, with a wrecked monitor, had a used one on it within an hour of my being at the store at a fraction of the price. Great experience, start to finish!

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced... Not to mention they lost my data, after assuring me they could save it. When I called to advise that the back up they performed had missed the critical document I was specifically told would be fine, I was advised I had to talk to the technician, Kerry, who did the work. My message wasn't returned so I called again. Four times total and when I relayed what happened, the technician became defensive and agitated, saying he didn't know why I was telling him when I should have told someone else at Restart (huh?). His reply was that I ought to have backed it up myself, which seemed a notably weak defence given he was the one who suggested I have him do the work. Then, after interrupting me repeatedly throughout the call, he literally hung up on me. He handled the situation so poorly that I would almost laugh, except am so disappointed about the impact of my lost work with zero explanation that may happen, zero accountability, and zero empathy. Have read other reviews that echo similar issues regarding embarrassingly poor customer service. In the future will go to London Drugs, where I've found the staff do thorough work, while being warm and professional.

I dropped off my 13" MacBook Pro Retina to see if it qualified for the delamination screen replacement program. Paid over $70 for them to tell me they looked at it and found third party parts not under Apple's warranty. If they told me they were going to charge for doing that I wouldn't have agreed.

The staff are terrible!! The least helpful tech people I have ever come across. Every time I went in, no one was able to answer my questions or provide the service I needed. Sometimes they genuinely couldn't do anything about it, but they were so dismissive about it, and were unwilling to tell me where else I could go. I went to a competitor who was also unable to help me but were so nice about it. They told me where I could get the help I needed. And to the owner, don't bother with the apologies. They come across as insincere. Better to just get your staff to treat the people who go into your store with dignity, even if they don't spend any money that day. Definitely will not go back, since I own so many apple products, that is another loss for you. Also, the prices are way higher than anywhere else in the city.

I don't usually complain, but I feel its important that people know that there are other options available to get your computer fixed, and I don't want anyone to experience what I did. If I explained every single issue I had with my experience it would honestly take me so long to write it out.. So I'm just going to try and do a really short version. Avoid this place at all costs if you're looking to get anything repaired. My macbook had one small issue and still worked perfectly fine. I decided it was time to get it repaired as my warranty was about to expire. Over the course of three weeks, and restart actually causing a needed repair by accidentally breaking a wire while trying to fix the initial problem, AND telling me they put in the part that they ordered when they actually didn't, they turned my laptop into a paperweight. It was fried. My computer went in with a small issue but worked perfectly fine, and after they were done with it I had a paperweight that wouldn't turn on, AND apples customer relation number written down on a piece of paper after I was told "There is nothing we can do." After that, I took my business to SOHO computers, and they not only fixed the initial problem that was needed to be fixed, they also fixed what restart had done to it. It took them 4 days, and they did it the first time. Restart had my computer multiple times, I went back and forth dealing with their shenanigans 6 different times, all together taking about 3 weeks, and being left with something I couldn't even use. Don't use their services. There are way better options. TRUST ME.

Such friendly staff! I bought my Macbook Pro almost 2 years ago and I use it for my online business. I do skype calls quite often. Last week I was experiencing troubles. Noone could hear me! I tried FB Chat and still noone could hear me! I went into system preferences and everything seemed normal...I was lost, I didn't know what to do. I decided to go back to ReStart to see if they could help me. I was patient and kind and so was the technician there! Within 15 min he had the problem solved and a shiny clean screen! Restart brokered a full forensic recovery of a corrupted drive. Their service was positive, fast and each stage was well communicated. The drive had sat for 4 months with one competitor with no communication. That was a very stressful time. It was then with yet another competitor who said nothing could be done. Restart said they would see what they could do, sent it off and I now have my precious family photos back! I was very happy with their service.

Pretty terrible service, broke the display on my 24" Imac, called in with serial number asking how much to replace the display. Would not give me a price until I booked and payed for the technician to quote the price (80$). Told them all i wanted was a estimate on how much a new display costs before I paid a 80$ diagnosis. I called them directly and spent time with their staff confirming that the repair was under warranty I even found my original receipt and confirmed twice with the store. When I got there the owner told me it was not covered under warranty. I agreed to a diagnostic since I was already in the store then I changed my mind and returned within one day after confirming they had not done the diagnostic yet. Now the owner says he's keeping the fee anyway that's like being lied to and then stolen from. Your response is a flat out lie. You never completed the diagnostic. I came and picked it up before you did the diagnostic because I was not comfortable with the double talk your staff is putting out. Then you charged me any way. If as you say you did do the diagnostic then why did you employee tell me they had not completed the diagnostic yet? Why was I never given an estimate or even the repair required? You never did the diagnostic because I only left my computer with you for 12 hours. Either you and your staff have a serious communication problem or your actually gaslighting me over 75.00?

Great place! Had to take in my older 2011 iMac. They determined it was a hard drive issue and resolved it quickly. Then a another issue occurred based on a faulty part from Apple that they used and they resolved that quickly as well. Great service and technicians.

The worst place in Victoria to take your Mac for repair and the worst apple sales environment I've ever been subject to. They treat their staff poorly and consistently don't pay what they owe them. Some really good ones have left for this reason. In my opinion you should buy from 1-800-MY-APPLE, Apple's official commission-free telephone sales people. You'll get honest answers, fair prices, and you'll never EVER be pressured to buy something you don't need. There is NO reason to walk into this establishment. If you really want to support local business, go to Soho. You'll get treated right and they won't screw you over. I am NEVER going back here after the things they've done to my friends. Inexcusable.

Phoned to get a price on a specific product, told that wasn't possible over phone and was asked to call back with my macs serial number...ok, fair enough. Called back and was asked to email info as they were too busy with customers. Seems like a fair enough request, although I have to say, I assumed that was what I was during this interaction. Sent email, no reply after 12 hours, sent another email, 12 hours later still no reply. Gave up, bought from Amazon. Would have preferred to buy locally but doesn't seem my business was required. I believe in supporting local business, but ReStart computers is not one that I'll be going into ever again. My other had a $650 repair done at the shop. She is in a wheelchair, and relies heavily on friends and family to help her pick up and drop off in situations like this. When she called in to pay on her credit card, she was told that there was a surcharge on the transaction because she wasn't therein person. I know that the amount is small, but penalizing a person for not being able to leave the house is poor business practice. They did offer her the options of cash (which would've involved a trip to the bank), an e transfer (which she is not familiar with) or a to ask her friend to put it on her credit card?? That's a big ask of any friend. Long story short, it's 2021, take credit cards over the phone, and don't penalize the physically disabled because of a policy that you can't explain to someone when asked.

I brought in my MacBook Pro before 10:00 AM and it was ready for pick up by 3:30 PM the same day (The in-store Priority Service fee is so worth it when you're under the crunch!). EDIT ***** Restart's reply to this review is false and attempts to place the blame on me. They're just covering their butts. After being told I'm being too sensitive by Restart Computing (see their reply) and that my machine was declined for the Apple Replacement Program I took it to Nic at Simply Computing and within 4 minutes I was told that my machine WAS COVERED BY THE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM AND SAVED ME THE $900 RESTART WAS TRYING TO CHARGE ME. Restart is attempting to point the finger at what they consider to be an uneducated client rather than accepting that the service I received was poor. This seems to be a trend. ***** I have never had a more frustrating experience dealing with an Apple or any other Tech in my entire career. He was rude, condescending, confrontational, dismissive, interruptive and completely frustrating. Instead of diagnosing my issue he urged me to spend $850+ on a repair which was most likely covered by a valid Apple Replacement Program (no cost to me) related to the video performance in my Macbook Pro Retina. The tech could not properly diagnose the issue (which another non-Apple Certified shop had done successfully earlier that day) and instead of contacting Apple to determine whether the issue was eligible for the Replacement Program he told me repeatedly "Well, why don't you call Apple and yell at them?" which was surprising considering I was completely calm at the time. When I picked the Macbook up the following morning the lid was covered in what appeared to be some wort of white food or drink and were was a scratch which was not there previously. The Tech put it on the counter and quickly walked away with hardly a word. So I called Apple, had a very quick and pleasant conversation about the issue and they are handling it immediately. Why could Restart not have done that and billed me for the time? Who knows. It would be an exceptional series of circumstances which would ever lead me to visit Restart again for anything other than picking up an adapter or something which would not require me dealing with the Tech department. The rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

He was rude and rushed me over the phone providing me with very little detailed information. I went to the store to find that the information provided over the phone was totally wrong. Huge lack in sharing proper, happy options for customer to get the most efficient products and services. Never when visiting the shop asked key questions that adhere to my needs in a tactful way. Alway leave unhappy, left with technical errors and over charged. Feeling they disappoint and today they left me with NO receipt. Saddest thing is that they.are the ones that initiates yelling. I've now had two poor customer service experiences here, and I will not be returning. In fact, I'd rather pay for the ferry for better service in Vancouver. They were unable to assist with a macbook issue that I later sorted out over the phone with apple - who were far more helpful, by the way. When I returned for an iphone screen repair on a phone still covered under applecare+, I again left without resolving the issue. In both cases I dealt with male staff who were unhelpful and extremely condescending.

From my first phone call, these guys, Marco & Avi, (hardware, software respectively) were there to help. Living on a Gulf Island did not matter; they were there for me within hrs from my first call/email. Never pushing me about being the last person in Canada to use an iphone, never teasing me to buy a product I didn't need, instead they took my 2014 MacPro & installed a new battery & new internal speakers which will serve me for the next 6 yrs. They assisted me with my new Apple upgraded system which gave me hitches in my regular way of doing things. I got a problem with my Macbook Pro 2015. It was almost 1 year old. I brought to one of the Victoria service, where I was charged 70cad for diagnostics and later told me that for 1000-1200 they could replace mother board but they aren't sure that it can help to fix laptop. Fortunately, I decided to visit authorized apple service provider ReStart. They took 55cad for diagnostics and replaced my mother board for free, because it was still under warranty. It took just couple days. Their staff were very friendly and helpful. As a result, Re Start is a great compony that really cares about their customers and tries to help them. If you have any problems with apple technique, do not waste money with other apple service, go to the best one.

My Macbook wasn't recognizing my password or Apple ID today. After thousands of logins over the years, this was the first time this has happened. Was in Restart's neighbourhood, so popped in. Marco took me right away - quickly diagnosed AND solved the problem. Gave me a prognosis and "treatment plan." A 10 minute Save! and... he didn't charge me. Wow. Great service! I'll be back.

Brought my mom's Macbook Pro in with an extremely swollen battery thinking I would have to pay a few hundred to replace it. Robin took one look at it and inquired about a completely different issue about the keyboard which I thought wasn't a big deal. Apparently the battery component is linked to the keyboard and the whole thing can be replaced if there's a problem with the keyboard. These guys went above and beyond to help me sort out my issue and saved me hundreds of not a thousand dollars in repairs. In my 10 minute visit, I had 4 different people chime in about my issue which is some crazy unparalleled customer service. At the local Bestbuy I would be lucky to find 1 person to talk to within 20 minutes. I brought in the computer on Thursday afternoon and I left on Monday with pretty much a brand new laptop being billed a whopping $0. I wish I could give these guys 6 stars. Service here is absolutely the best. Oh yeah and throughout the entire visit, I was told repeatedly that if there was water damage, they would charge me an inspection fee of $80 or something. I wish all companies would warn you about these costs upfront instead of tagging it on before you leave the store.

We had a seemingly unsolvable issue connecting our Macbook Pro with our slide projector, and a critical event presentation to make the next day at the Hotel Grand Pacific. I called ReStart and asked if they could help us. They invited us to bring the laptop and projector to the store right away and the issue was solved in about 5 mins. When I asked how much it would cost us, they said "no charge!" The friendly, solutions-oriented service we received put our minds at ease, so we could focus on our GameChanger event--which was a huge success! THANK YOU RESTART!!

Very poor customer service and then they charged me $60 dollars to tell me they couldn't replace my battery. Claimed that it was an Apple standard fee. Feeling very taken advantage of. Editing my review to respond to Restarts Response. The comment "this information was concealed from us" is indicative of their service. Do you think I knew it had water damage - you couldn't tell without opening it up and neither could I. My real complaint is charging me $60 to open it up and tell me that. Excessive and not disclosed up front. And then you hide behind - "Apple makes us do it". I don't know what is true and what isn't but publicly stating I concealed something from you is false, poor form, and not constructive. Others can decide whether they want to deal with you. I certainly won't be back.

I can't be more upset and angrier. Indeed, The young shopping guide was really nice and helpful when I was to buy a macbook protective cover and he showed me some and promised me to get a discount( cuz I am a student ). However, when it was time to pay, an older shopping guide with white beard took his place and said no discount at all! I argued and he just compromised with bad attitude as if I was doing something wrong. And when I was about to insert my credit card, he said the price tag was wrong! He couldn't sell it to me with such a low price and he added 10 more dollars. I then waited for them to find a new one, but! He just left me there and did his own things! No explanation, no apology, no goodbye! What else can I say ?! I got embarrassed and left the store! It's not a problem about money, it's a problem of honesty and service attitude. I won't get there anytime, and to avoid a similar bad experience like me, I suggest people who cares service choose another place or select right shopping guide! Good luck!

Much like the other reviewers I can confirm the customer service at Restart is terrible. I refuse to shop there. I flew to Vancouver this week and went to the Apple store at pacific center to purchase a new MacBook Pro I needed same day. Time and time Apple (and their Genius Bar) show what customer service should be like when buying apple products. Don't waste your time going to Restart... Go to a real Apple Store or order online for cheaper. (Or go to London drugs) all of which will appreciate your business.

Sent my boyfriend to pick up a new MagSafe charging cord for my MacBook Pro 13inch model (a 60W adapter). With this information, the salesperson gives him the 85W adapter, which didn't work at all. Went back in the next day, MacBook and chargers in hand. The staff were courteous and tested both my MacBook (which I knew wasn't the issue) and their cord (since my original was chewed to bits by my dog), as well as the attachable plug. The whole thing was defective and they had no problem replacing it (be sure to keep the receipts, or they wouldn't do anything). I did notice that the attachable plug bit didn't sit very well in the adapter, and after a week that piece stopped functioning completely, and so I use the spare from my old adapter that works. A little disappointed that the piece stopped working, but otherwise happy with my service and replacement.

Initially, after taking my 2011 iMAC in for an issue ( the screen of death) I was rather displeased to find out that the fix provided did not solve the issue for me, on a work computer I depend on to do my job. But, after disclosing the problem of a fix provided that failed to solve the problem, I was well-pleased. The staff at Restart, the owner and tech support staff did an amazing job. With their help I was able to continue working and being productive on a loaner screen, while waiting for the computer issue to get resolved by Apple ( it was a well known, but hard to find graphics card issue). After this experience I'm confident in saying if you have an issue with your Mac or OSX device, ReStart is a great place to go. UPDATE - NOV 2016 The staff at ReStart are easy to work with and are clear and transparent about the options for purchases and tech issues.

I've gone to ReStart twice and have had great service each time. The most recent visit was great because I almost had to pay 800 dollars for a part (Apple laptop, display wasn't turning on) but it magically started working again when they ran the final tests on it before ordering the part. They also replaced my spacebar (I had burned a hole in it) which was an excellent surprise.

First time customer, I brought my computer in to get a track pad replacement and diagnostic for malware for my macbook, they told me that they have a used track pad in stock and that there was nothing wrong with it. The cost to have everything done was approx.$160 for the services (which is expected because it's mac). When I came in to pick it up, there was a confusion about needing a tracking number which I didn't have on me. I told them that I lived an hour away from town and instead of listening to what I have to say as a customer and having a conversation about it, the superior of the store ranted off his scripted response to me without letting me speak. I felt utterly dismissed and invalidated. So I drove all the way home, came back to the store and was told there was a confusion and that I didn't need the tracking number to begin with. Fortunately, I received an apology and was discounted 25$ off for the drive in and out of town, but that whole ordeal took up already an hour of my time and energy, not too mention the stress of having to rearrange my client appointments to accommodate the extra time of the drive. After a week of having my track pad replaced, I'm noticing that the track pad sometimes doesn't click properly, or highlights things that I don't want to highlight, it seems like I can trust it to work 70% of the time, but overall am extremely disappointed in this service. Definitely not interested in their services again. There are other places in town where the manner and customer service is more effectively aimed towards customer satisfaction.

My 15" 2011 Macbook Pro suffered the graphics card meltdown they are now becoming known for... and I took it in to ReStart. Well... to be fair, I called them first, they advised me to bring it in after my list of symptoms so that they could run a free diagnostic check... and it turned out to be the problem that Apple has now extended the warranty on. (Naturally, it was a Friday, so I had to wait the ENTIRE WEEKEND (sarcasm) to get my computer back, but get it back I did... on the Monday afternoon following. So elated that I wasn't going to have to replace the logic board out of my own pocket, I bought a RAM upgrade... to which I was told that since they were installing a new logic board ANYway, there would be no fee for the RAM install. Quick service, knowledgeable and honest. Highly recommended.

The staff actively tried to avoid taking my business by raising various reasons why they wouldn't do the battery replacement under warranty but could if they charged me $80. My old macbook overheated and froze, resulting in an error message that I wasn't able to troubleshoot on my own. I jumped in the car and raced over to ReStart (they were closing in 15 mins) and begged them to help me as I needed my laptop for work the next day. Update**The owner has not apologized for yelling at me, interrupting me repeatedly and hanging up on me, but has asked me to remove my reviews because I have a complaint with a different company, not with his store. In fact, this is completely incorrect and he does not understand the review. I have a complaint with the way I was treated by him - I have no complaints whatsoever with FedEx (I have no idea where he even came up with that concept as the reason for my call, as I didn't even get a sentence out??). The fact that he cannot accept responsibility for his abusive actions, and that he does not understand the problem, confirms that I would never purchase a computer service or item from his store because if that's how he treats a client on the phone, I can't imagine how I would handle an actual issue with an item I purchased from him. The way I was treated was so aggressive that I don't even feel comfortable going in to the store, so I am stuck letting the item be returned to sender. It was that bad.** I received a FedEx door tag indicating that a package was available for pick up at this location. I called the store to ask a question, but as soon as I said "Hello, I have a door tag that indicates I have a package for pick up there -" the person who answered the phone interrupted me and yelled repeatedly at me: "We are just a store that fixes computers, you need to call FedEx." and as I tried to say "Yes, I just need to come pick up my item" he continued to yell at me and interrupt me for a solid minute so I could not even get my question out (which literally was just about their hours for when I could come and pick up the item), and so I finally asked "Can I please finish my sentence without being interrupted?" and the person hung up on me. Incredibly unprofessional.

Went in because my computer had been displaying some erratic behavior in certain apps. After quite a while diagnosing the problem with apple's tech support, it was discovered that my ram had a problem. The computer was covered by applecare, but is upgraded the ram so it wasn't covered by any warranty. After calling around I found that Restart had the best local price for 16gb of ram - $199 - the same as Other World Computing. While I was there I also got a new SSD drive installed. I took my computer home, transferred my data to the new drive as I was directed by the tech at Restart, and the computer failed to start properly. I ran the apple hardware test and it said the ram was bad. I took it back to Restart and was told that the apple hardware test shows bad ram any time it's not official apple ram. I looked that up online and couldn't find any website corroborating that. To make the computer work they said they'd take a look - for $100/hr, and figured an hour and a half. Between the ram and the SSD I had paid then $1125 the day before, and I thought $100/hr was a rip off, and I couldn't afford it. I decided to try to figure it out myself first, so I took a seat at the Starbucks nearby and started running some testing apps. Eventually the owner passed by me and said I could come and work on it in the store, someone would give me a hand for free. I did that, and eventually was told to take the computer home and reinstall the OS. I did that, and finally it started up... BUT Finder was constantly crashing, among many other problems. Eventually I ran another memory testing app (Rember), and it told me for sure that the ram was bad. I called Restart and they said they couldn't work on my computer any time soon. I told them that wasn't acceptable as I'd already had it failing to work for a while and really needed to get back to work. I brought it back to them, and they carefully took down my story of everything that had happened with the computer. They told me they would look at it - some time in the next 24-48 hours, but if it's a software problem I would have to pay $100/hr for them to work on it. I left it, and it turned out that the ram was indeed bad. If they had tested it when they put it in they would have saved me days of frustration. Really good experience. Took in my early 2011 Macbook Pro with a broken fan, and many speed issues. The associates were very good at helping me. At very comparable prices. The staff recommended one of the new Solid State Drives as a replacement, and I'm very glad that I did it. Best performance my computer has every had! And they are Local too, good job!

I found the majority of the staff to be kind and friendly. However, when I was in the store on Tuesday the young man who is their tech working in the service center was very rude and abrasive. Firstly, his colleague had to ask several times for him to come out and answer my question, to which he initially blatantly replied "No, I don't want to" and "Tell him it will cost $29, that's it". I just had some questions and was hoping to be able to see if they knew what the issue might be with my computer or how much it would cost for either parts or repair. When he finally reluctantly came out I began describing my problem and what I had read online might be the possible reasons. He barely listened to me speak for five seconds before cutting me off and tell me that "that's wrong" when I tried to brush this off he continued to tell me why I'm wrong without having heard the problem out in the first place. Additionally, I tried to tell him that the pentalobe screws on my 2011 air had come lose over time but he insisted that I had the computer serviced by someone else and when I said it hadn't been he pointed accusingly at the two missing screws. I had to again tell him that the screws came lose over time and regardless of how many times I re-tightened them they kept coming lose. He then went into the back to check on stock. At this point I didn't even want him to service my computer so I promptly left the store. I was really disappointed with this service but more importantly was shocked at how he treated his colleagues. My previous interactions with staff in this store were wonderful.

I had been warned about how bad customer service was at this store, but I figured how bad can it be if all I call in for is to simply purchase a power adapter for my MacBook Pro. Talk about condescending on the part of the person at the end of the line! Were you trying to tell me I needed to buy a new Mac from you? Or did you just not listen correctly the first time when I ask whether you carried a POWER adapter for my MacBook Pro? You lost a sale. Lots of other places to get this without the attitude.

Previously had good experiences here, but after the latest I won’t be back. Phoned for an analysis and repair on a laptop. Was informed that the next appointment was in 4 days. Great, I’ll take that, thanks. However, informed that I have to bring the laptop in and have it sit on premises for the next four days until the appointment. Can I just schedule an appointment and bring the machine in then? No. “To secure an appointment the machine has to be sitting on our shelf. Sorry if that’s inconvenient for you.” Of course it’s inconvenient! Who wouldn’t find that inconvenient! Which would be fine if it served any purpose, but why does the tech need to stare at my machine for the next four days while he does other stuff!?

I had an accident with my phone and it needed replacing and I really didn't know how to get all my old information off my old phone on to my new one. They were all very friendly and knowledgeable and even helped me with my itunes when I was having computer problems in the process. And I got my replacement phone in less than 24hours!! *HORRIBLE, SCAM! DON'T GO" In 2012, My apple computer was water damaged, I put it into rice and left it alone for about a week. My computer unfortunately was completely fried and I wanted to get it fixed. at that time, I was unsure that apple could/ or could not cover water damage products so i went ahead and put in rice, at that point I was still under apple warrantee I went to restart. Customer service was horrible !!!!!!!!! - It took them about a week and a half to get back to me - They claimed that since my computer was water damaged, they had to charge me$100-200 extra just to look at my computer - they did not fix anything and said I had to pay probably the same price as buying a new computer. Fast forward to the present, My keyboard was damaged again, this time I went to the apple store, they fixed it for me for about 160 within 1 day , although it was not water damaged, they had to repair all of my keyboards.They did not charge me for extra service ( This time I was not under warrantee!). It was only now that I realized how horrible of a scam I had gone through. Never again will I go back!

I am "one of the those" how own a 17' with the problem on the GPU. My experience with ReStart Computer was great, I walked in, they checked the year and model of my macbook and told me that I had an extended warranty. I've asked if I needed data backup. I mean, I was ready to pay for it. They've been extremely honest, they explicitly told me "you don't need this service". I had a new motherboard installed under the extended warranty program. Overall I've been very happy with Sia and the whole team. I have to apologise with the team for the delay in my review, sorry guys, I've been really busy this month.

I had two run-ins with their staff over the course of three days and both were very unprofessional. I was simply trying to pick up a package and was told it wasn’t there. When I mentioned that their system seems less than perfect (there were literally packages littered across the back corner where people shop) the woman became hostile and told me I wasn’t being helpful enough because I couldn’t describe the package I had never seen. I was also told people would more likely steal their iPads than packages so package security isn’t necessary. When they looked for my name they were able to find it easily and blamed the delivery guy.

Absolutely horrible service - they wouldn't even look at repairing my charger and gave me a look as if I was an idiot for even asking. Then they said that I might as well give them both my broken chargers for free to "recycle" since they could do nothing about the missing magnetic end piece on one and the malfunctioning cord that goes to the computer from the charger box on the other and when I refused acted as if I had been an unnecessary burden for them. Oh and another place in town said there was not an issue and they would be more than willing to repair my chargers, which they did, and had it done in less than 6 hours. AVOID AT ALL COSTS there are dozens of better places around Victoria that are infinitely more deserving of your money.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The customer services was absolutely terrible. The person I dealt with was dismissive of any questions I asked and kept referring me to 'look online'. I explained that I had just looked online at their refurbished inventory and that's why I was in the store. Again I was completely dismissed. Macbook Pro user here. I had a problem with the screen so I brought it in. They charged $80 to tell me that "there's a problem with the screen, and it must be replaced." No write-up, no detailed explanation, just "problem with the screen" for $80. They quoted $800 + tax for screen replacement, and told me that it's "standard apple fee". I didn't do buisiness with them and I'm glad I didn't. Guess what? I brought it in to Apple genius bar and they (1) diagnosed the problem for free AND (2) fixed the screen free of charge without warranty. If you have spare $80 to tell you that there's a problem with the device, and another $800 to actually fix the device, go here. Else, stay away.

The service seems professional, just don't expect them to be able to do any repairs on the board level. They don't have that equipment and expertise. I got charged for like 60 dollars for them to open it up and tell me they can't fix it. My iPhone had a tiny capacitor chip that was busted, had to get it fixed overseas.

Just wanted to say thank you to a very caring and knowledgeable team of professionals at ReStart. I took in my 2011 MacBook Pro which was stuck at grey screen and kept rebooting. Apparently, that model of MacBook Pros has a faulty chip which can not be fixed. I was disappointed because the only thing they could do for me was to retrieve my files. However, the owner of the shop also offered me a 2015 MacBook pro which I am writing this review from. This secondhand MacBook has made me completely forget about my old machine. It is fast and looks brand new with its new keyboard, touch pad, and battery. Best of all I got it for an unbelievable price. The computer repair was fine, but the staff was extremely mean. I have severe anxiety (so I do get scared easily by verbal male anger and raised voices) and had a panic attack when I left the store. I was belittled, talked down to, and insulted (called weird). This wasn't even my computer being repaired, I was just picking it up! Update**The owner has not apologized for yelling at me, interrupting me repeatedly and hanging up on me, but has asked me to remove my reviews because I have a complaint with a different company, not with his store. In fact, this is completely incorrect and he does not understand the review. I have a complaint with the way I was treated by him - I have no complaints whatsoever with FedEx (I have no idea where he even came up with that concept as the reason for my call, as I didn't even get a sentence out??). The fact that he cannot accept responsibility for his abusive actions, and that he does not understand the problem, confirms that I would never purchase a computer service or item from his store because if that's how he treats a client on the phone, I can't imagine how I would handle an actual issue with an item I purchased from him. The way I was treated was so aggressive that I don't even feel comfortable going in to the store, so I am stuck letting the item be returned to sender. It was that bad.** I received a FedEx door tag indicating that a package was available for pick up at this location. I called the store to ask a question, but as soon as I said "Hello, I have a door tag that indicates I have a package for pick up there -" the person who answered the phone interrupted me and yelled repeatedly at me: "We are just a store that fixes computers, you need to call FedEx." and as I tried to say "Yes, I just need to come pick up my item" he continued to yell at me and interrupt me for a solid minute so I could not even get my question out (which literally was just about their hours for when I could come and pick up the item), and so I finally asked "Can I please finish my sentence without being interrupted?" and the person hung up on me. Incredibly unprofessional.

Went in today with my macbook, the girl was okay but kind of bossy. Telling me to go over there with my computer when I couldn't get to that area due to another customer in the way. She couldn't find anything wrong with my computer so she told me the cost of the diagnoses and 1 hour of labour to repair it. I didn't understand but they took my computer away. I couldn't find my bank card so after they had my info and my computer in the back, I told her I needed to go to the bank. While i was at the bank I decided on it being to expensive and did some research and found out i was right. A diagnostic at future shop is 60, at any independent place 50 or 40. When I went back she was okay with giving it back but wasn't being very helpful in terms of advise. Another man saw that I wasn't very happy and told her to give me apples number. I went home and called apple and they walked me through fixing it FOR FREE when neither Restart or Future shop would help me AT ALL. Just asking for money and lots of it. My laptop was a year old all I needed was help because I couldn't find a way to turn it on. Not people trying to just get my money with no guarantees...

Was the third computer store we stopped at in Victoria to get a new battery for a MacBook Pro. Other 2 couldn't get it done for 7 days and were charging astronomical prices. I was quite impressed with the service and value at ReStart Computers. I recently experienced quite a scare when I awoke one morning to find my MacBook Pro, now 7 years old, was in the middle of something called a "Kernal Panic," which I was later informed was an early warning sign for a hard drive in the process of failing. I was charged a fee of around $70 to diagnose the issue, which was later subtracted from the service total. Within two days one of the technicians had replaced and upgraded my hard drive, and transferred over all of my files. I was very glad to have the friendly and efficient service and would highly recommend ReStart to anyone who depends on the functionality of their Mac in order to get through the day.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst experiences I've had with a retail store in Victoria. Not only is the (male - tall with Middle Eastern accent) owner/manager abrasive and arrogant, but, from what I can tell after speaking with Apple, charging customers for repair orders that are FREE when you go through Apple directly. How can this go on? I will be lodging a formal complaint with the BBB and other firms to ensure that what almost happened to me does not continue to go on. As the owner/manager said, "this is way it's been done. We've been doing it for 20 years!" News flash...Iphone came out in 2007. Avoid Restart at all costs. Go to Soho or deal with Apple directly. Also, I was told that the Ipod Itouch does not come in 16gig even though I just bought one at The Source 2 days ago. I was just price comparing. They told me the 6th Generation only comes in 32 and 64 gig. Another lie...just because it wasn't on their shelf does not mean it doesn't come in 16gig AND their prices were $30-60 MORE than The Source for the 32 and 64 gig either way. Gimme a break guys. I will spread the news of my first and last dealings with your company to my large network. I am a Victoria business owner and have a great deal of patience, but this was too much to let go of. I hope this helps others avoid a great deal of wasted time and money. Update: The response I just saw to my review above is NOT what I was told. I clearly had a working phone with a cracked screen needing a repair or replacement. The THREE times I went to Restart with my phone, I was told $129. Never once was I told $39 by any of the 4 people I dealt with there. Again, not ok. And not knowing the difference between IPAD and IPOD gig sizes for an Apple store? C'mon man! At the end of the day, it's all about customer service and confidence in the representatives knowledge for handing any issue a customer has and knowledge of their products. I just read some of the other google reviews. Time for a few staff meetings for management and the entire team.
