We called Alex to see if he could at least rescue some stuff from our dying 9 year old hard drive on our desktop computer, and get his assessment about whether we should bother installing a new drive, or just get a new computer. He showed up at our house, within hours, and confirmed that the hard drive was the problem, but that all the other hardware was looking good. When it comes to technical help, I'm always very wary of being taken for a ride, but the service I got was very fast and honest. Although the hourly rate isn't cheap, its very well worth the money given how my problem was fixed in a remarkable display of knowledge and speed (it took only one hour). I should have called sooner instead of me spending dozen+ hours unsuccessfully trying to fix things by myself the previous day.

Caveat Emptor I typically don't give 1 star reviews but feel compelled to do so in order to help others avoid my unfortunate mishap. I had an error message pop up on my computer upon startup. I researched the problem and went through various fixes that I found on help sites. None of the fixes worked. One solution was to reinstall Windows. I almost did this but was concerned with the data on my hard drive so I did not follow through. I decided to seek professional help. This is how I ended up at Geeks on the Go. First mistake I made was not going with a reputable company, but instead working with one individual who takes your computer from you in the parking lot without a receipt or mutually going through the issue. After I dropped my computer off, it took a while for me to get a response and 1.5 days later I finally have a conversation with Alex. I tell him to reinstall Windows but make sure all my data is backed up first. A very logical step to take, I thought. Another day goes by and after a few texts I finally get the message that he has finished. He sends me the price $180 + taxes as he claims he spent 2 hours on my computer. I think that is odd as it was a backup and a reinstall of Windows so he is not sitting and staring at the computer. I mention that this was a bit more than I expected and he offer a reduction for a 5 star rating on Google. I offer to pay in cash and he accepts. I pick up the computer, set it up and go looking for my files in the backup folders he set up. Voila there are no files there. Approximately 30 GB of my data is gone. Now I am a bit miffed, so I reach out to him and he says he is with clients and will call me back later. At 9:20pm I text him to find out what is going on and he let's me know it is late and he will call me tomorrow. At 9:50am the next day since no answer I text him and ask him to look at my computer at around 11:30am. He says he is with a client and it will be later. No response at 1pm so I text again and then call and he says he is with another client. Then he says he will contact me at 4:30 pm. Finally he calls me and remotes into my system and the files are not there! Worst of it is he says I told him to do this and he has the phone conversation recorded. I ask him to play it repeatedly and he refuses to do so. Why would I ask him to restore Windows at the cost of deleting my files? He says he did the best that he could, no offer to reimburse me. So that is my sad story of trusting this company. I have learnt my lesson well. Follow up to response - the response Alex sent is erroneous. I never changed the partitions or deleted data prior to sending the computer over. Plain and simple he screwed up and just as before he refuses to accept responsibility. Shameful behavior for a business owner.

Excellent and reasonavly priced service is a great start, but Alex shows he clearly cares about his clients. After my original fan problem was a fixed, a strange -seemingly unrelated- problem occurred with my keyboard. Alex went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everything was fixed, giving me a great break on the labor cost of the second repair was a huge help already, but this absolute Chad even lent me a spare keyboard until I could save the money for the second (discounted) repair! If I had one bit of constructive criticism for him it would be that there were a few communication hiccups that led to a bit of lost time efficiency, but after all the greatness and kindness he showed in this process I'm not petty enough to dock a star for such a small nitpick. 10/10 recommend. Alex "trouble shooted" my PC build a couple month ago I had everything in correctly but since I was new to PC building I didn't know where the 8pin CPU power cable went and he charged me 200$ to connect a cable and install the os. I feel like he took advantage of a child by dragging out a an hour long process into several hour one. To put it into perspective it took me 2 hours to build my dad his PC. it posted and I installed the os. It is very straight forward, all you have to do is go to Microsoft's website download the windows installer onto a USB stick then boot your PC and the rest is done for you Edit* I may have been I bit harsh but I truly feel you took advantage of me as a of friend of mine got somebody else to do almost the exact same thing and the guy did a bios update for him (motherboard compatibility issues) for 60 bucks it took the guy 40 mins it was on a late Tuesday and it was also a house call. To rebut your claim" about setting up my keyboard mouse and monitor. That is an absolute lie the monitor, mouse and keyboard were already on my desk because I was using an old PC I found In the garage before that.I think your claim about my dad being present is true but he had less knowledge of pc's than me at the time so it so you took advantage of both of us. Also If you call your ISP they can help you with WiFi related problems they literally have entire articles on their websites with very descriptive diagrams showing you what to do. I get it you are a professional and you have had alot of training in this sorta area and gas is also very expensive and I would have been happy paying you 100 bucks for an hour and 20 minutes of your time which is really how long it should have took. but you waited for windows to install which I guess might have been to help less knowledgeable customers but surly if I know about how to set up duel channel memory and I know how to install a godam AMD cpu correctly I should know how to install WINDOWS. but the real kicker is how you made installing the drivers for my gpu and cpu way longer than it should have took because you waited for the system to finish installing the drivers but again I don't think this is a bad thing it might be to protect a customer in case of an error but even that is a stretch I think that maybe you should ask customers if they are comfortable with something and then using your judgement from there.

Very convenient to have a skilled technician at home. I had a problem with my computer, Power Supply was gone. I called them and they send Alex to my office, he had all the tools and parts and he fixed the computer right before my eyes. this guys are super pro. What a man! So friendly, honest, knowledgeable and a pure gentleman! I recently got a new computer - my MacBookAir and it was time - but the hassle of transferring everything over was overwhelming and I decided to call in the professionals! I looked on here and found this company - I checked out his website - and was rather dubious about going to a home and leaving my new computer/old computer with my life on it in the hands of a stranger! But the positive reviews made me want to at least call him.... A few days later, I dropped off my old computers to have him transfer the data to the new one - also, as he suggested, I brought along a hard drive and let him back everything up too! I had my Mac back in 48 hours - all done - he explained everything that he did - including formatting my new external hard drive, which I never knew had to be done, and took the real hard drive from my old computer so no one can steal my info! If you have a Mac that needs a bit of love and attention - look no further!!! Alex will be my first stop if/when my Mac starts acting up!!!

I went to Alex in a bit of a panic after my hard drive had crashed. He was able to safely retrieve all of my files and get my PC up and running again. Alex is super nice and answered all my questions. He has a number you can call and another number you can use to text which was way more convenient for me.
