Very unfortunate experience with Dimitri. He sold a vulnerable person a laptop on friday november the 8th that turned out to be a refurbished lemon for $300. The next time the store opened was the 12th, and on that day the laptop was returned for a refund but was subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Some of the damage included:
- electrical tape covering a damaged hinge
- the display had a permanent blue tint
- the manufacturer warranty was long expired, the Microsoft certified sticker was from 2014
- the built in trackpad mouse buttons were coming away from their moorings
- the casing was loose in several places
This was an exploitative transaction. The gentleman in question was not able to adequately advocate on his own behalf for a refund and as a result was charged a 20% restocking fee upon return of the item to the store - which amounted to around $65 - which was perfectly legal but clearly uncalled for in this case. This customer was coming from an institutional setting, was not able to protect himself, was taken advantage of as a result, and unfortunately put himself at the mercy of a willfully deceitful salesperson of questionable morals and demonstrably flawed ethics.
Dimitri demonstrated and sold a laptop to a gentleman who was unaware of what he was purchasing at the time; that is to say the equipment that Pacific Laptop sold this person was not commensurate to the price he paid, nor was it in the condition he was told it was in.
Dimitri knows damn well there isnt anything anyone can do about thus but to skewer him on a google review. He evidently has no pride in his business practices, no shame from exploiting our elders for a little bit of money, no regard for his community, and a void where his decency belongs.
