Very bad experience for me. On 9 May 2019 I brought my MacBook Pro to Evergreen Computers for repair. I was quoted $1473.92 incl tax for the repairs. On 19 June 2019 when I got my laptop home, I found that it could not be turned on. I brought it back to Evergreen Computers the next day. They found another problem that they failed to diagnose previously. I was quoted another $400 for further repairs. I was told the repair would take 3 weeks. After 3 weeks and no update from Evergreen I called them to ask about the status and was told the repairs would only be finished by the end of the month due to delays. At the end of the month and having received no update again, I called up and was told the technician was on leave and repairs would take another 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks and yet again no update from Evergreen, I called up and was told there was a delay in delivery of the needed components and repairs would be delayed by another 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks and another round of chasing them, I was told the technician apparently went on leave again and repairs would be delayed yet again. It has now been more than 4 months since I first sent my laptop in for repairs and I still do not have it back! I am very disappointed and frustrated with their lack of professionalism and accountability. They have repeatedly failed to deliver on their promises and have not bothered to update me on the status of repairs. Each time I had to call up and query what was going on and I would be given the same excuses and estimated due date(s) which are never realised.

Do not take your Mac here. Maybe they perform better for PC based products - but our experience with Mac is poor. After an attempt to access our bank account online, our bank required we proved to them that our iMac was virus free before allowing access to their online network again. We took our machine to Evergreen to verify it is virus free. This is a fully updated iMac running the latest OS with current AV software. When the work was completed, the invoice listed a great many services completed which could not have been done since they are for PC machines (Optimize BIOS / Optimize & Update Windows / Install critical Windows Updates etc - none of these are Mac related requirements). Apparently they did remove 6 malware files - when I asked what file names they were specifically - I was told "we don't keep track". Who provides such a service without keeping notes or reports of exactly what was found / removed from the machine?

After a hard drive issue I thought I had lost all my data for good. Based on a tech friends recommendation I took my hard drive to Evergreen Computers. They said they would do their best to recover as much of my data as possible, based on the unknown condition of my hard drive. Two days later they successfully recovered 100% of my 1.5 TB of files off the old drive. I couldn't be happier with the full data recovery and my new 4TB drive. Thanks for saving my bacon!

When our home network Time Capsule crashed, the backup system and Time Capsule Expresses of our network stopped working, Dave and Neil arrived and restored our network functionality quickly and efficiency. It's a great relief to have a go-to service in our neighbourhood that we can absolutely rely on to respond to our computer needs. When their business model tells you that they treat every customer like family, they actually really mean it. Neil and the whole crew blew my expectations away. They helped me customize my computer to get the best parts that work with each other for the least cost on my own pocket. When the SSD they had ordered for my new PC was taking longer than I had anticipated, they even threw in their own SSD to use in the meantime while waiting. This is one of the rare times I feel compelled to write a review. I needed a heavy duty work station before Sept 1st. I had initially reached out 3 weeks ago but honestly wasn't expecting for them to be able to acquire the GPU I needed for the build due to the world wide shortage. Not only were they able to, but Neil helped me every step of the way and in the end I got the exact build I was looking for in the time I needed it while having a very clear and helpful correspondence. Will be recommending Evergreen Computers to anyone I know from now on.

I was upgrading my aging i7 4770K CPU which required a new motherboard and memory, and my new RTX 3080 was too big for my old case, so I needed a new case as well. I purchased all the parts with the intention of building the new rig on my own. When I got all the parts I had second thoughts, so I emailed Evergreen Computers. The owner, Neil Davey, promptly responded to me on a Sunday when they were closed. He explained what they could do, how long it would take and gave me some power supply options, with good pricing. I dropped off my old rig and the new parts on Monday and the rig was ready on Wednesday as promised by the tech. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner responded to me on the weekend when they were closed. I recommend Evergreen Computers.

Asked if they would price match a SSD drive from NCIX but they wouldn't. Other local stores i.e. Future Shop, London Drugs, Staples all price match NCIX. Plus, their prices are generally 10% to 20% higher than the competition. The store itself is nice and they have helpful staff, just need to be more competitive on their pricing.

I am so very impressed with the speed of my new Evergreen computer! On my old computer, it took about 5 minutes between pushing the power button to start the computer and the point when MS Outlook opens. CONSUMERS BEWARE! Not impressed with this business. I called about an issue with my 27" mid-2011 iMac. I explained to them the exact specs and hardware problem I was having, 100% accurately, as I have opened it up and confirmed myself, plus spent over an hour on the phone with Apple. Evergreen still wanted to charge me $30 just to look at the computer before they would even give me a quote. I pleaded and they still couldn't give me a quote. I took it down the road to "Mac Place" on Lower Lonsdale, who quoted me before seeing the computer, agreed to fix it and if they couldn't solve the issue I wouldn't be charged. Mac Place fixed it and it was ready for pick up the next day. There are better options than Evergreen Computers, DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Service was amazing, Neil helped me pick out a great computer and gave me really good advice and suggestions on what to cut and what to include. They also price matched a really good gpu from NCIX which they definitely did not have to do. The customer service was matched by their fast and efficient technicians. After I decided what build I wanted and contacted them they finished my computer in ONE DAY. Really good experience with this company and would definitely come back in the future. Uninterested in helping us, and was unknowledgable about the stock of items in the store. Individual told me "we don't sell that" until I showed him the product I was looking for from his store's website, in stock. He the proceeded to bring me the wrong product, and tried to convince me it was not what I was looking for despite not knowing anything about my context, or why I was asking for it. I found this exceedingly unprofessional, and I was hoping that shopping in person at a computer store, rather than online, would at least net some more understanding than a webpage. But this was far more unhelpful. After he brought out the wrong product, I just decided I would take my business elsewhere. In addition, the employee was seen visibly putting on his mask as we waited for service inside the store, which was disconcerting at least.

I went down to Everygreen computers yesterday and had an unpleasant experience. I was inquiring both about some issues with my computers, asking general tech questions, and seeing if there was potential employment opportunity as I am a current computer science student. I purchased a roughly $80 headset and a $150 router. Then I went to neighboring London Drugs for other tech needs. I noticed the exact headset for $20 cheaper and the improved model for the same price. I also learned the router model was available online domestically for $50 cheaper. I returned and stated I'd like to support a local business but am a student and can't afford to pay 30-50% more for products. I even said I'd buy a $150 4GB Hard Drive and keep some of my purchases if they could help me out a little, a small discount even it wasn't a price match so I could support them. Unfortunately the budged on no cent of my total $300+ purchases, gave me cold, uninterested, and a times rude responses. Barely any customer service, seeming indifference over my employment related queries, and no apology or thanks for my attempt to support them. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. By contrast, the London Drugs Electronics Dept clerk was helpful, friendly, and helped offer advice on employment opportunities there and elsewhere. Indeed, I stopped at a small computer repair store on Queens and Lonsdale to make similar inquiries and express my interest and motivation. I was a given warm greeting, friendly response, and a business card for their supervisor to call. Needless to say, I returned both the headset and router, though I kept the hard drive as I believe it or not, I felt bad about wasting their time and buying nothing... I'd love to support somewhere local like evergreen and even see myself find opportunities to learn and find employment. But instead I found better prices, service, attention, advice, and overall experience at both a larger chain in London Drugs and a smaller other local computer repair business not 10 blocks away. I have no idea why I'd ever put up with that, seek out any help, or bother to enter the premises of Evergreen again. I tried to be polite, genuine, reasonable and wrote this as fairly and with as little malice and bitterness as I could. I hope that this review either helps change be enacted there or that someone may avoid having the same experience I did. It was disappointing and I'm sorry I had to write such a negative review of a neighborhood business. Thanks to those who read some or all.

Had my laptop fixed here a little while ago and was really pleased with the service! I came in with an audio issue that needed fixing, staff was very nice. It took about a week for them to find out that the issue required some hardware to be replaced.The only slow turn-around time was due to having the replacement part mailed, but obviously they can't control that! I received my computer back good as new and all cleaned up. A hundred times better than having to replace it! Will definitely go back if I have any other computer repair inquiries. :)

I've been using Evergreen for 6 years and always had fantastic service. However, I have been out of Canada for the last two years, and after my first experience using them since being back, I have to assume that it is under new management because I am so disappointed with my service. I brought my computer in because the screen would not power up when the rest of the computer would. I paid the diagnostic fee, and was quoted a price of 278$ for a weeks' worth of work, to get my computer back on May 4th. It was more than I wanted to spend, but after thinking about it, I was happy to pay it because I trusted them and wanted my computer back. 1 week went by, then another week. I called and left a message asking to be called back, no one returned my message. I called again in a couple of days, and was told that they were waiting on a part, and that it would be another week. So I waited that week, and again heard nothing. I called back and asked to speak to the supervisor, but was not transferred to him. Instead, I was told that there had been a new estimate for my computer to be ready by June 2nd. This date had been there the whole time, and no one had bothered to tell me, instead I kept getting told "One more week". When I did pick up my computer, I was offered no apology for the delay, or the lack of communication, or the misinformation. It's like they had no record that I was unhappy at all with the service. No attempt was made at salvaging the bad customer service I received. This is such a far cry from the service I received the previous times. The last person who worked on my computer at Evergreen removed a virus, and then because he noticed that there were other things wrong with my computer, fixed them for free and tuned it up. It was all part of offering good service. I paid $278 for my laptop, and have it back now, but there are software glitches and no updates will take. Knowing how displeased I was with the service, it might have been nice to be offered a discount on fixing the software glitches as a token of good faith. However, I was told it would be another full diagnostic and the full 89$ fee to get it fixed. I am beyond disappointed, and am unsure if I will continue to bring my business to Evergreen. However, they get 3 Stars because the service I received in previous years went above and beyond.

Upsold Window 10 PRO $80, told me it's required to run remote desktop for my work, but turned out it wasn't true. a quick Google search + confirmed with the IT guy at my office, it was NOT required at all, ripped off. Will NOT come back. NOT RECOMMEND! BEWARE!

These guys are the worst! Especially the manager. He's super agressive and condescending. I brough a laptop in because of a loose connection with the lcd panel. I paid my $30. and they sent it out to their offsite repair. A week later the quote came in for a new cable and a new lcd panel for $325. I declined that, I decided to fix the cable myself and I didn't think I needed a new LCD panel I picked up the laptop and took it home. I opened it up at home and the lcd panel had been shattered. The manager says the LCD needed to be replaced anyway so it doesn't matter that it's broken. On the phone he offers me a $50 discount on the $325 repair as a "token of good will." When I go back to discuss what to do about this he pushes the laptop across the table at me and walks away. These guys broke my stuff and then shrug their shoulders and tell me it's my problem. Stay far away.

My daughter took her lap top for some repairs to this place. They charged her $30 for diagnoses and told her that the cooling fan needed to be replaced and it would be another $196 to do the job. I didn't have the money at that time so we got the lap top back without any repairs. 3 weeks later that I got the money and took it there they said that now it costs $259 to replace the fan which I couldn't afford at all. I took the laptop to Future Shop and got it fixed for $150.

Really nice guys, build really great PCs, but if your needs are time sensitive, even just for pricing, you might want to go somewhere else. Recently needed quick turnaround on a quote for a company project and ended up going to Best Buy due to same day / next day purchasing requirements. On a previous experience, attended store in person, was told that I would receive a quote for a custom build and a couple days later I ended up sending a follow-up request to their sale@ email. Don't know which request was ultimately serviced first. In any case it's too bad that I had to leave a mediocre review because I liked the shop.

After a power surge during a power outage, my PC wouldn't boot. I thought the surge had fried something and prepared myself for a large repair bill. To my surprise I was informed that the surge triggered a change in the settings in my bios and was easily changed back. When I asked for the repair cost they said it was covered by the initial diagnostic charge already paid. I must say a lot of shops would have taken the opportunity to pad the bill, it was refreshing to deal with an honest and professional shop.

I have an old computer system that had a screen problem with pixels missing. To replace the entire system would have cost me a fortune. Although they were unable to fix it there, for what turned out to be a a fraction of the cost of replacing my system, these guys pointed me in the right direction. The personnel at Evergreen computers are truly a class act and expert problem solvers. I will certainly return to them again if needed.

Bought certified refurbished laptop, since beginning I had troubles with that.Acer said I did spill water on that and case closed.I am 100% sure I did not spill any water on my laptop. When I tried to find out from both Evegreen and Acer why it has been refurbished, no answer.Even though I had warranty, did not help. 1000 dollars gone.

MY COMPUTER IS RUINED! I brought my perfectly functioning, two year old Macbook Air in for data recovery after I had inadvertently deleted some files in my trash. After a month of calling to find out the status and being given run arounds similar to those mentioned in at least one other customer review (claiming they needed to order a part, telling me the work was in progress, claiming that the technician was unavailable to take my call, not returning my calls), I finally had to go in to the shop in person before they would tell me that my hard drive "coincidentally" crashed the moment they began the data recover process. I knew that the data recovery might not be successful but I had no idea, nor was I warned, that there was a possibility the process could ruin my entire computer. I also believe that they had known for days if not a few weeks that it was ruined and were trying to avoiding letting me know . They did not apologize, offer any compensation or accept any responsibility whatsoever. They were just cold and insensitive. The owner just stared at me and kept saying "I don't know what to tell you". I had no choice but to walk out with a computer now completely useless. This is absolutely the worst retail experience and customer service treatment I have ever had in my entire life. I still can't believe what has happened. I'm totally devastated.

Just bought a new PC today and I am very familiar with computers, parts and what I needed. It was nice to see the manager walk me through the various options. I was opposed to onboard video cards but he took the time to show me how for office applications they have come a long way. This included demonstrating the computer using 2 monitors and opening up a blistering amount of windows. It didn't phase the system at all. I really appreciate the time and customer service I experienced at Evergreen computers. Even though it was really busy in the store I was treated like I was the only customer there.

Went in to get a broken fan fixed, after a 30 dollar diagnostic fee and a couple weeks time they got back to me saying that the fan needs replacement and will be $180 to fix, and it will also take upwards of a month. I needed the computer for school so I picked it up and postponed the repair. A couple days later I took a closer look at the fan and saw a small rock had lodged itself in it. I removed the rock and the fan has worked fine since. I'm not sure what they actually did during the "diagnosis", but apparently looking at the fan was not part of it. Glad I saved the $180 and will not be going back to Evergreen in the future.

I've dealt with Evergreen off and on for over a decade. I have supplied many businesses with their products, both built by me from parts, or built by Evergreen's techs. We are talking a number of high-end Xeon servers, cad-cam workstations, and basic office computers. Evergreen have always been more than helpful, even when my clients have an issue that we both know is par for the course; Evergreen will work to resolve it. Even if I want some funky rare RAID card, they'll go out and get me one. As far as price matching; NCIX probably uses loss leaders, and has huge volume and warehouses across the entire country. You can shop at walmart, or somewhere local. Comparing them isn't fair. The fact a small place will try to come close to their prices, is great. Some of the big computer places only run an 8% markup - that's hard to compete with. If you know what motherboard works with whose memory and how much wattage and what connectors your power supply should have - and how to install an OS and all the drivers - and how to demand RMAs - you're fine buying anywhere and probably don't need much tech support. Ethics are your personal matter. If you're an average consumer, Evergreen's computers are far better quality than you'd get at a big box store, no matter the name on the label. All the parts in an Evergreen computer are the real thing. If you want a MacDonald's hamburger, go to MacDonald's, If you want a real burger, go to the diner down the road. Add in the fact you get proper customer support at Evergreen, and for most people, it's a no-brainer. Evergreen is going to give the whole meal deal, and respect who you are.

I took my computer in for repair, only to be told that it would cost a minimum of $200 and would take 1 - 2 weeks. Going elsewhere (ie. Computer Guys), my computer was not only repaired but serviced as well for $55 and I had it back in less than 24 hours.

These guys are amazing. I spilled coffee into my nice big computer tower and they did a diagnostic and found out what part was fried. They even had parts on hand to build a new setup for me if I wanted it. Highly recommend. Friendly, quick and professional. Don't put your coffee on the absolute corner of your desk people.

They built me a complex custom server configuration in less than 48 hours! Would definitely shop with them again! I initially asked them for a quote for several configurations. Evergreen was very patient with my complex requirements and walked me through various options and clearly laid out for me which parts were currently in stock and which weren't. Once I placed the order, I fully expected them to take a week or two for the build (based on my prior experience with other computer shops in Canada). Evergreen pleasantly surprised me by having the order ready for me to pick up in less than 2 days!

I purchased my first Evergreen Computer, a SOHO CPU MMX 233, in 1997 because a business contact recommended Evergreen as a reliable supplier of computers to businesses. Since then I have purchased several more and in 2013 my latest one is an i5-3470 Core i5 Quad with 16 GB of RAM. Over all these years I have had minor problems and never had to take my computers in for service, except once, the one I had purchased for my grand daughter. The little issues I had from time to time were solved by myself, asking other computer users, or via a telephone call to an Evergreen Technician.

NO - POOR SERVICE - UNPROFESSIONAL My very 1st experience with Evergreen Computers is lack of professionalism and a disrespectful manager. I inquire about a product (Web Cam) that was recommended by someone and spoken to a team member who passed me down to a manager and once the manager asked about my location he blatantly stated (Go seek product in my area and hanged up) We have people all over that would be willing to purchase this product however they are not good for business purposes in the USA!!! If there was an option for NO STARS they got it!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They gave me concise and correct information when I called them on the phone. When I went down to the store they had what I needed in stock and it was really easy to get. They were happy to test on my computer before paying to make sure I had to correct power cord.
