Googled " fix xbox one controller " and these guys popped up, called them and they said they could fix it. I dropped off my xbox one controller ( a modded one, which is why it was worth fixing ) for an unresponsive LEFT thimbstick. I dropped it off October 24th. Paid 135$ upfront for the repair. The postal strike and parts coming from China etc, meant I waited until January to get my controller back. There was very little communication from these guys, I would call, text, never got a call back. The only time I talked to them was when someone answered the phone when I called. When I got the controller back in January they said they tested it. But it had huge dead zones where it didnt work at all. Dropped it off with a second controller they could use for parts. Weeks later, calling every couple of days for an update and never getting called when they said they would I finally got my controller back a second time. It's still not fixed, the left thumbstic drifts and loses signal, it feels sluggish and unresponsive compared to a working controller. I am done bringing my controller in to these people and then having to chase them for weeks. Then hearing things like " well theres a reason people dpnt fix xbox one controllers..." <- then dont tell someone you can fix something if you cant. Coulda saved me 130$ Their response : "Response from the owner 30 minutes ago Logan, you didn't mention here that we tried to talk you out of this repair. You didn't mention that we advised against ordering unknown quality parts from China during a postal strike to fix an issue by replacing a part we don't even know is causing the problem. We warned you it may not end well but were willing to give it a go if you insisted you wanted us to try. We were very straight forward about the wait times especially considering we were midst a postal strike. We told you that we would need to charge you regardless if you wanted to proceed as we need to pay people for time they spend. We even told you about parts we had ordered before and never even received. Then after the first repair and the joystick not actually resolving the problem, instead of accepting a refund that was offered to you against our policies and what you were initially told, you still insisted we do 3 times the work and take a joystick from another controller you had to try that. Again, it did not resolve the issue and left us here. Right out of the gate we advised you against having this repair for all of the reasons you listed in this feedback. However, on the bright side, we will no longer entertain repairing this problem on Xbox Controllers as we know the time and hassle is not worth it for either party. " When I dropped the controller off I was told 1-2 weeks for the parts to come in. At no time when I was dropping it off was I told it could be months. So making it sound like I knew the postal strike was going to be a problem then complaining about it is a complete lie. I was told the postal strike was an issue after I started calling 3 weeks in asking what was going on. As far as taking a shot on weather it would work or not, yeah. That's fine I was good on taking the risk. But you gave me the controller back with the dead zones after your people swore that it has been tested. It was not tested. And again the constant lack of communication, I would call and I would be told that I would receive a call back and I never got a call back the only time I talk to somebody was when I got somebody on the phone when I called. And I didn't insist that you do three times to work and use a controller that I dropped off I dropped off the controller for you to use the joysticks if it would help. I'm really glad that you're last line of the response isthat you are no longer accepting Xbox One controller fixes. And I want to make something perfectly clear for anybody who's reading this at no point was I ever ever offered a refund. I will swear an oath in front of a court to that fact. Removed a star from my review due to all the lies in their responce.

100% satisfied and impressed with every part of my experience at Bill & Dave Computer Repair. Broken screen on my iPhone 6plus was fixed within an hour, and the location is great (street level, in-and-out, parking on the street), and they're open on Sunday at 10am. All and all, these guys just "gets it." Great shop all around.

Rude staff 0 respect for customers. All they care about is the profit. Went there for a laptop and never got a call back so I went elsewhere go to smart tec they will treat you better and better deals. Lies even on comments on my review it was supposed to be ready same day when it wasn't told by owner aka yourself telling me laptop would have been doing me in an hour so before you try to cover your mistake realize what you did. Second time I have used them. 1st time was a cracked screen and this time my OS died. They were able to retrieve my hard drive, advise me on replacement computer, and upgrade the computer all in a day. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I had a lot of questions which they answered happily. Both times I rated 5 stars. Saved me a lot of money, which is essential, being a University student. Thanks a bunch.

Just got my laptop dust cleaned from these guys and only takes two hours work. They are professional and work in high efficiency. The lady in reception is very patient. I explained to her I need my laptop got repaired immediately. She then elaborated with technicians to get it repaired in prior without charging me extra 50 dollars for express services. The technician also helps me to clean the stains underneath the keyboard panel with a photograph proof. I am very satisfied with the services they provided and stay updating the reviews. I will definitely go back to them in the future.

I went to Bill and Dave Computer Repair to retrieve data from my computer which had crashed. They were very helpful throughout the whole process and were able to retrieve all of my data. They were very patient in helping me reload the lost data into my new computer and helped me to find my old files- even though it meant them staying past their closing time. In the end, it was like looking at my old computer with all the files right where I left them! The guys here knew their stuff, were very professional and very friendly. I hughly recommend them.

Very happy with the quick, knowledgeable, friendly service here. I got a bit of a run-around at another place that was going to cost me hundreds and a minimum of 2-3 weeks if I left it with them. I tried Bill & Dave to see if I could get a quicker fix because I can't be without a working computer for more than a day or two. Found out that all it needed was a reset, and the other place should have been able to check that and fix it for me in 5 min. Got it reset on the spot for a very reasonable price. I will be coming straight here next time.

I have mixed feelings about my experience with Bill & Dave Computer Repair Inc. I am happy with the repair (a mug of tea was spilt over my laptop keyboard, causing liquid damage that required mother board repair) but I am not happy with how they communicated with me after I dropped off my laptop at their repair shop on Rideau. Although they have a status update feature (where you enter your work order number and you find out what is happening), it was not updated until after I pushed them to do so. They were unresponsive to my initial texts and emails. I finally got through by telephone almost a week later. I cannot confirm, but I suspect that my laptop would have taken a lot longer to get repaired had I not pushed and insisted they communicate with me. After reading other reviews, I note that others have had a similar experience. I do not doubt Bill & Dave's expertise, but they need to improve their communication - your customers need to be contacted in a timely manner and you need to respond to them.

This place is terrific! I have always been super happy and very impressed with them. Aside from the great service I've personally received, I've seen how they treat other customers, they really do whatever they can to provide excellent service. Dealing with the public in any sort of service industry can be extremely tricky and Bill & Dave's really handles all the situations I've seen really well. I highly recommend Bill & Dave for your electronic repair needs. Dave always has customer satisfaction in mind and is a great guy. As one example, I came into the shop with a particularly unique problem with a custom upgrade job on a laptop. They spent time with me troubleshooting and trying to identify the root cause. They could have easily brushed me off but they took an interest in the problem and offered several expert opinions. Ultimately one of their suggestions paid off and I managed to fix the problem. They charged me a very fair price for the diagnosis and testing and I was very happy to pay them for their time and help. Thanks Dave, keep up the great work!

Started well but unpleasant experience in the end. I took my 2009 ‘vintage’ 27 in iMac for a new solid state hard drive. They quoted around 200$ for the hard drive alone plus brackets and labour so the cost became over 400$. Steep but it included migration of data from my backup ... later they suggested extra RAM. Another 100$. So the overall cost became over 500$. I was quoted less elsewhere but I decided to go with them due to the reviews here and time frame they quoted as 4-5 working days. And I was reminded that they work 7 days a week!!. I took my computer in December 19. I knew it was holiday time so I didn’t call them for an update until near New Year’s Eve. I was then told to check the status of the repair via a link. I did. Daily. It wasn’t even started on January 3! I begged them as I had a report due. I tried to send voice mails and emails. No voice mail and no answer to calls... finally I got upset and sent a message that I was disappointed and I needed my computer ASAP even if the repair wasn’t started ... so it was miraculously started that day! I got a call 2 days later recommending to add some RAM. I said OK. I felt rueful for my last upset phone call so when I went to pick my computer I said mocking myself “apologies but I was that demanding person “.... , the person at the counter was then incredibly rude and argumentative instead of laughing it off or making me, as a paying customer, welcome. And he also insisted that he didn’t have my back up drive.... which eventually he found ... I won’t go into details but I was more upset at his behaviour and attitude! I got my computer on January 8. Needless to say I do not recommend them. No matter how good they are in the repairs. ( which I won’t know for a while) It was very expensive and took almost 3 weeks. Of course it was still cheaper than a new iMac. Try someone else if you are in a hurry.

My iPod Classic is my go to device for all my music and when the headphone connector suddenly gave (only two years after purchase), I quickly went online to the DIY sites to see if I could fix this. A few forums and videos later, I saw that it was going to require a bit of patience (which I have) and a few specialized tools (which I didn’t), so I decided to look for a local repair shop. After checking out a few of them, I found Bill & Dave, which was not only close, but made it clear that this job was right up their alley. I have to admit that I have opened up computers to do my own installations many time in the past, but I thought that this repair job should be handled by someone who had done it MANY TIMES before. This is exactly what I found…people who knew EXACTLY what needed to be done, did it PROFESSIONALLY, delivered the repaired iPod looking fabulous, and most important to me, sounding fabulous! THANKS FOR A GREAT JOB! I look forward to getting my other iPod Classic refurbished with a new hard drive (sadly, it died on me a few years ago…) See you soon, and yes, I will say it again, GREAT JOB!!

After Apple store refused to replace my “old” out-of-warranty phone because it was already opened (by myself, I told them so), I went to Bill and Dave and their service was great; fast, guaranteed, and they were empathetic. In less than 10 minutes, battery was replaced and phone is just as good as new. Prices were up front and was nice to know there are other options with much better customer service. Dave and Damien went above far and beyond the expected service to help me, I came to them on a sunday desparate to get a fixed computer for work the following morning, I paid the express charge but out of real service they stayed after hours until after 9pm to make sure I went home with a working desktop. The man I had spoken with explained why my drive crashed, as well as showed me how. He explained to the hard drive he suggests to put it and why. I went with his suggestion (which was an SSD drive) and now my computer is running faster and so much better than before. Sold me crappy laptop adapters twice. When I came in the first time, they charged me for an expedited assessment of my laptop only to tell me that it was the adapter that they had sold to me in the first place, even though I brought this up as a potential issue and was told that was not the case initially. And now the new adapter that I have and paid for is not working and it's only 2 months old. Very disappointed and will not return.

My partner and I have used Bill and Dave for a couple of issues with our computers over the past year (he has a custom-built desktop, I have a Dell laptop). They've always been very friendly and the service has been impressive. Their pricing structure is great - the cost for a diagnostics check is put towards any work that needs to be done, which is helpful when you don't know what's up. When I needed a new battery, it ended up being more expensive than they initially quoted me, but they still charged me the price quoted. They're fast, fair, and reasonably priced: definitely recommend!

Brought my playstation in after it stopped turning on, They were able to fix the issue as well as address some other issues. Originally the WIFI antenna was still not working correctly, But I brought it back in and they fixed it for me within an hour and did not charge me any extra for a new WIFI antenna. Thanks to Bill & Dave Computer Repair my iMac is running again & alllllllll my files are safe. My iMac failed out of the blue one day with zero warning. Although I knew I had most of everything important backed up across various medias, I still felt like there may be some sentimental things on my computer that I hadn't saved elsewhere. I didn't want to take a chance so I brought it to Canada Computers who reccomended Bill & Dave's because they couldn't help with this particular situation. Saving all my data & restoring the computer to better than it's previous state cost less than 1000$. You can't buy a new iMac for that price, that's for sure! Even large data recovery on its own can run that much. From drop off to pick up the process took about a month but it was WELL worth the wait! So happy that I found this place! Thanks again guys!!

My old gaming rig stopped turning on. Don't have spare parts to determine the cause, so decided to take to the nearest computer repair shop for diagnostics. Brought it to Bill and Dave on Nov 14. Came in person to take it home on Nov 24 because it's way longer than advertised standard 1-4 business days. Online status stated that the PC hasn't been worked on. The girl at the counter confirmed that it hasn't been touched. I demanded my money back. She replied to come in later when the managers are around. Came in later the same day. They determined the cause - faulty video card. However, they obviously started working on it right when i left the first time. Dave gave me BS that he worked on it until midnight last night :-) When the girl was looking at it it was assembled when he was showing me it it was disassembled. Then I asked where the female connector for the side wall fan (the only wire sticking out missing connector). They must have ripped it off while take the side door out. He blamed me for bringing it like that and that I noticed it because i knew it wasn't there. More BS :-) Then asked where the screws for the side wall. Again he gave me BS i brought it like that, but then looked inside the PC case small drawer and the screws were there. This place is just a lot of BS. Stay away from it.

I did not enjoy my experience. I was told a repair was needed so I agreed to the fee and repair, they called me to tell me, that they needed to replace another part as well, so I told them that was okay. What annoyed me, was that the first repair was not necessary, only the second repair was, and your tech would have known that after completing the it. I understand mistakes like these happen, but what really bugged me was the lack of apology, and then to blame the customer, and tell me I was hostile and threatening with an employee, when in fact I was apologetic to him, because I knew it likely was not his fault. It's not your suppliers pricing, it's not the cost of the repairs, it's that I paid for an unnecessary repair, was not told, or apologized to.

This story does not involve using Bill and Dave's repair services directly, but their recent actions showing how sound they are as decent human beings. My computer was stolen a little over a week ago. They happened to be the ones to be approached to sell it for cash. They immediately chose instead to go the extra mile both in keeping it safe in their care after refusing the deal, and attempting to contact its owner. That certainly involved some solid detective work on their part. End result: I got it back from them in good working order and am able to get on with my life as a result. Thank you guys... You are simply great to have in our community!

Got a phone call from Bill & Dave asking payment for parts & labour before the job was finished. Asking for parts payment up-front is fine, but asking for labour payment before the job is done is dishonest. You guys do a decent job repairing computers. Please fix your shop the way you fix computers.

I have used Bill & Dave twice and have been very satisfied both times. I had a MacBook Pro which I initially took to the Apple Genius bar for diagnosis. They said my screen had 'gone' and quoted me $600+ to have it replaced. Not confident in their diagnosis, I took it to Bill & Dave for a second opinion. They managed to fix the problem (a loose cable) for two hours and much more inexpensive labour. I was very happy with their service and will definitely use them again. I decided to bring my water-damaged iPhone 6s to Bill and Dave’s despite some of the negative reviews I’ve read. Unfortunately, I received the same service similar to several disgruntled customers. I brought in my phone on Oct. 8th (granted, it was an hour before closing) and the front desk told me it would be diagnosed by about Oct. 12th (the following Wednesday). The receipt also states a 4-day turn around for repairs. I paid the $73 to have them try to clean any potential corrosion as a result of the water contact. If it required any further parts replaced, I would be quoted for any further costs at that point. The 4 days passed with no word from them. I actively checked the online repair status that they provide, with no updates for the entire time they had my phone. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I waited until Oct. 16th to call in to follow up. I was told that they cannot see any updates either, and that they would call/email later that day. I received an email that evening stating a technician would have to “revisit” my phone the next day, with no further explanation as to why it was taking longer than expected. I replied to the email the following day on Oct. 17th asking what the verdict was, and if it was possible to pick up my phone – no reply. I waited until Oct. 18th to call in again. This time I was told that the technician was looking at it on a “microscopic level” and was having a hard time fixing it. They said they would call me back later that day. They never called me back as advised. On Oct. 20th I decided it was too late, and called in asking what was going on, at this point just wanting my phone back. They finally said they couldn’t fix it without replacing the screen and charging port. There was no way I was going to wait for more work to be done. If it took roughly 2 weeks to find out they had to replace parts, who knew how long it would take to have the parts actually replaced. Overall, bad experience with this business. Understandably they couldn’t repair my phone, as there was no guarantee it could be fixed without replacing parts. But the customer service was extremely poor, and I had to chase them just to figure out what was going on with my phone that they had possession of. If something is going to take 3 times longer than expected, shouldn’t the customer at least be notified? After 2 weeks without a phone, and being down $73, I got my it back at the exact same state I gave it in as. Based off that, and the fact that there were no concrete updates, who knows if they even did anything with it.

In January the screen was having issues again with the responsiveness of the touch screen so I brought it in. They took it in and respected the warranty they provide, and replaced the screen again with no charge! Great service. I'd recommend.

My son took his laptop to the Future shop in Guelph for much needed repairs. He was quoted $700 and 3 weeks to complete the repairs - devastating for a university student as their lives have become so dependent on a computer and dollars are in short supply. Thankfully he had the where-with -all to hold on the work order until he could speak with me.. I brought his laptop to Bill and Daves' for a second opinion. Their honest feed back gave us confidence and the work was completed as promised in less than a week for close to 1/4 the quote by Future shop. First strike: My S5 cell battery is 3 years old and dying so I went here to get a new one after making sure they had one before I arrived. They said they had 3 so I made my way down. I showed up, waited 25 minutes for them to try to find one of these 3 (there were no other customers there) and went home empty handed. Second strike: Eventually got sick enough of my battery to try again and repeated the above process while making absolutely sure they could physically see one before I went over and ultimately bought it. They handed me a battery with no box or plastic, as if it were just pulled straight out of another device. I asked if it was new and they said yes. Well this thing was in even worse condition than my current battery, but I obviously could not know that until I had it running for a day, or rather half a day. Third strike: after 14 attempts to call them since then I have determined that they no longer answer their phone. I've tried at all times of day. They also do not return voicemail, and it's not clear if they even check it. Stay. Away.

Would not use Bill & Dave again, unfortunately. Background: Brought my son's iPad in to get it repaired in November 2016. He had owned it for two years and takes great care of it but unfortunately dropped it down the stairs one day by accident. Problems: 1 - Upon receipt of it, I quickly noticed that the magnetic latch was locking the screen of the iPAD when the lid of the case was resting against the back of the iPAD. This means that the magnetic shielding which is supposed to prevent this was either missing or not re-installed properly. I decided to bite the bullet on that and not bother them and purchased a new case where I could remove the lid with the magnetic strip 2 - About one week in, I noticed that the home button had a bit of play in it. Again thought nothing of it, just thought to myself, that's after market parts for you. Will not be of consequence. 3 - Over the XMAS holidays, I noticed a small crack line forming next to the home button. The iPAD was housed in a top notch protective case and had not been dropped. Attempts at resolution with Bill & Dave: 1 - Magnetic latch They informed me today that they knew that the iPAD had been returned to me with this problem as they tried 4 times to repair this new problem that was caused as a result of this repair and gave up on it. Yet they NEVER informed me of it when I picked up the device. They just handed me the device and said it was good to go. 2 - Home button They informed me that my son must be very hard on the home button and this is why the home button developed a bit of play. My son has been using iPADs for 4 years, including two years on this one and has NEVER broken a home button. 3 - Cracked glass next to the home button (which has spread to various parts of the screen) Given the other issues in that area, I'm very skeptical that this was due to a fault on our part but rather that it is the result of a substandard repair job that permitted a weakness to occur in that area that simply doesn't happen with OEM Apple parts or a fully successful repair job. Conclusion: Stating that they had already lost money on this repair job, the best they could do was give me 30% off a new repair. Unacceptable. As such, I'm taking my business permanently elsewhere.

They talked me into a lower-priced, refurbished MacBook than the laptop I'd chosen from their web site. DON’T GO HERE. I dropped off my Apple Watch 5 for repair and they told me that it would be “ready in a week”. 3 weeks later I had not heard anything from them and when I tried to call them I just kept getting rerouted to an automatic voice message. The only reason they then provided me with an update was because I kept emailing them. They then said “sorry this repair service has taken longer than anticipated, it is all based off how many items are dropped off at the same time”. Which is fair, but I had to message them multiple times to be informed of this. They then contacted me and told me my watch had more damaged than I had told them. Which was not true at all and when I told them this they sloughed me off and they requested more money from me. Instead of supporting this business I requested a refund. I picked up my Apple Watch which was now in TWO pieces instead of one when I dropped it off. The fight was not worth it at all. So customers beware.

I had three repairs done by Bill and Dave over 3 months ago (sorry guys for the delay posting). They repaired two PCs (hard drives replaced with solid state drives and additional memory added) and both machines are now really fast and have worked without any issues. I also had them replace the battery on my Huawei 6P (before Google said they'd stop upgrading the OS due to the US - China trade war, clearly not Bill and Dave's fault :) ) and the phone was reborn - charge lasts >1 day. These guys did the work on time, at a decent price, and all three items are running fine after 3 months. I'll be back next time I need a repair on text gear. Thanks guys.

I dropped off my 2012 MacBook Pro to have the speed increased and updated to the most recent compatible operating system. They provided excellent customer service, and I appreciate the fact that you can monitor the status of your order online. They gave a lot of details on what's wrong with my computer. My laptop is extremely fast, as if it were brand new! If you need any electronics repaired, I highly recommend them.

I brought my laptop here back in November because I got a blue screen of death and the restart resulted in my windows crashing and my keyboard being unresponsive. Said keyboard was repaired however the SSD drive they suggested I replace is too small (as I inquired via our emails), the Alienware drivers aren't compatible for my computer anymore (something you'd think they'd check before installing) and I have daily "blue screen of death" crashes. Had this laptop for 4 years with the old drive and windows system with only that one instance and since I've brought it home it's been a new issue every day. Would rate lower but at least they fixed the keyboard...

I bought a new curved monitor and to assemble the stand was just ridiculous as there was barely any clear instructions and the concept was unusual. Anyways in short, I thread the top of the screw and needed to find a new screw to replace it. I went and looked everywhere to home depot, best buy (where I bought the monitor) etc and no one had this screw or could help me out. I went to Bill & Dave's and they found the exact screw that I needed for my monitor. I want to say thank you for all the help, especially during COVID-19, you truly saved me from a headache! Instead they fixed the actual problem in 15 minutes and gave me a refund on the unused portion of my deposit. Disorganized, bad communication, but friendly Long story short I would never come back here again. I sent in my laptop for repair due to a BIOS issue. When dropping it off I was told that the laptop would be on the workbench in around four days. Without going into a play-by-play, nearly a month later I had an unrepaired laptop back in a worse state than when I dropped it off. The main problem for me during this time was communication. I tried getting updates numerous times via text, email, phone only to either be ignored or told I would be called back. The only time I could get straight answers was by coming into the shop face-to-face. I would like to think that my case was isolated and a result of Dave being out of the shop for a family bereavement, but upon reading further reviews I can see that this happens fairly regularly. On the plus side when I expressed my negative experience to Dave in person, he listened, was apologetic and provided me with a full refund. My feeling is that the shop takes on too much work and cannot keep up. My feedback would be to take on less jobs but offer a higher quality of service (including communication). The shop also said they tried everything to recover my BIOS, which means they either didn't have the technical knowledge or didn't actually try everything. How do I know? After getting my laptop back I sent it to the manufacturer, who returned a working laptop without replacing the BIOS chip or motherboard which was the final diagnosis I got at Bill and Dave's. In summary my experience was one star. The reason I have provided two is that Dave seems like a decent guy and provided me a refund.

I brought my laptop into Bill and Dave around this time last year. I hesitated to write this review but seeing as there are such mixed reviews, I thought I would share my experience to show my negative experience with them. There was way too much back and forth, seeing as I dropped off my laptop at their Lancaster location, where they said that they would bring it to be repaired at their newly opened (at the time) Rideau location. My mistake not requesting this when I first dropped it off, but I needed my hard drive to access my files. After countless hours of back and forth, Dave actually dropped off my hard drive to my house (albeit after 2 weeks of back and forth). This was the only positive that came out of this. Long story short, it took them about a month to just to diagnose the problem with my laptop, which at that point, I had already purchased a new one. They gave me a quote, to which was not worth the fix, so I kindly declined and requested to pick up my broken laptop. The laptop was in multiple pieces and they did not bother to put it back together as how it was when I first dropped it off (minus the hard drive). I did not want to bother to deal with my already frustrating experience so I just took it. I sent Dave a very detailed e-mail about my experience, not attacking the company or any personnel, but to inform the owner about some things that I think could improve the customer experience. Dave replied in a rather unprofessional manner (as you may see with most of his replies on the lower rating reviews). Much after the fact, I gave the remains of my laptop to a family friend, with hopes to salvage anything and fix it up to give to my father. I found out that many of the internal parts were in fact missing, and the laptop was pretty much useless at that point. I hope that their system has improved since then, being able to appropriately handle their 2 locations.

So I found these guys through Google, and the one-star review at the top of the list initially discouraged me... So it's only fair that I offer my two cents! My almost-new (but 11 days out of warranty!) laptop suddenly died. The tech first had me check whether it was still under warranty. When it wasn't, they took it in and in a very short time realized that it was a loose battery connection - so they refunded some of the amount that I'd paid up-front in anticipation that it would be a jack problem. All in all, I found that: (a) they seem to know what they are doing. (b) thy charge fair prices (not discount prices) I'd go back!

This review is under reevaluation I have since being reached by David himself and we are looking for a way to solve the issue. So far our main obstacle is availability on my side. I am a Consultant in Ambiance & Efficiency Instead of freaking out I contacted you, without any response. I needed my MacBook Pro repaired, I had issues with charging, the Magsafe connector had over heated and was not making good contact anymore. I travel a lot and was waiting to come back to Canada to go to a store I could trust. I went through the list of Apple repair shops and chose your place. I went to your store on feb 25th and was told later on that I deal with the manager, I did not know. I told him about my problem, said I also wanted to replace the 6 months old after market battery that was inside with a genuine apple battery (to avoid any problems), also a part inside was loose so if it was possible to secure it properly and the last thing, one of the 4 rubber underneath came off, if it was possible to glue it back on. He said no problem for everything but for the rubber he threw it in the garbage and said he would replace it with a new one. He gave me the price for the repair, printed the invoice and I paid. I asked him if he had all the parts in stock he said : Yes. I asked him how long It would take, he said 5 days. He said it's because I lot of repairs had to be done before mine. I ask if he had a loaner because that was my only mean of communication. He loaned me a brand new Samsung tablet, that was very appreciated. After a few days a friend lent me his I Pad so I immediately brought back the Samsung to make it available for other customers and inquire about my computer. it was past 5 days, still no problem. On march 5th I went back and ask François, he told me it should be ready the same day or the next day and It would be written on the status page. The next day it was, I went back to pick it up I was stunned about what was done but I needed to use it right away. Because the battery that replaced mine is still after market, the magsafe is a used one, he told me that a component was missing 2 screws inside, I said I know I told the manager when I dropped it off. As i was holding it I noticed that the rubber was still missing, he said he could not do anything (of course the old one is in the garbage now). So I spend a little over 300$ for a slightly newer after market battery, a used Magsafe connector 2 screws no rubber. Before I decided to contact you I asked another store for an estimate for the same repair with genuine new parts 366.00$ before tax. I did not get what i was told I would get ?

Was quoted a 4 day turnaround for my device. It is now nearly a month with no updates. They don't respond to texts, emails, webform etc. After trying to call numerous times you will get told "it will be done in a couple of days", over and over again.

Awesome service. I don't normally write reviews but this place is truly worth the trouble. They fixed my wrecked IPad fast (in one day). I had a busted screen (including LCD) and camera due to a really bad IPad incident. While it cost me to repair it, it was cheaper than other options and certainly better than buying a new IPad. Though I might have tried the ifixit route, I know that would have led to hours of frustration and a sloppy DIY job. Bill and Dave's fix was professionally done by people who do this work everyday. They charged me $180 to fix my laptop's broken DC jack cable and to repair the plastic screw anchors for the hinges. The DC jack broke again 7 months later, but they only have a 6 month warranty, so I decided to fix it myself. I bought a new DC jack cable and bottom case for my laptop for $38 total on eBay. I did the labour myself, and my laptop has been working perfectly for over 2 years now. They claim that they didn't replace the plastic casing as it would've been too expensive, but a bottom case for my laptop costs $15. Replacing it would have actually saved me money, as they wouldn't have had to charge me $60 to repair the plastic screw mounts. It also would have ensured the laptop lasted longer than 7 months before breaking again. Neither you nor any of your employees explained anything about replacing the casing, or anything about applying the discounted amount of labour to a replacement case.

Took almost 2 months for my phone to be repaired and it still isn’t. They gave us a faulty screen with scratched off barcode and said it was only like that because it crossed the border even if we had bought two other screens from them and they weren’t like that. Afterwards we brought the phone to get it repaired but they just kept prolonging it and tried repairing it some other way and breaking it even more. The screen they gave us shorted the fuse of the whole screen. After a couple months i got tired of waiting so I went to get my phone but it took a week to finally get it back. My original screen was smashed and they also stole my SIM card.

I had brought my tablet in to hopefully be repaired in early March this year. I finally have my tablet back nearly 5 months later and it is in worse shape than when I dropped it off. The screen protector looks like someone took a knife to the face of it and my speaker port is broken with the mesh cover missing. On top of that, it took them that long just to tell me the hard drive was fried. I'm sure there is more to the story from their end of it however, that does not excuse the damage as well as complete lack of customer service I have received. I'm sure that if I hadn't continued to contact them for updates I would have received none. Either by receiving timely updates on the status of my repair, or even the return of my obviously wasted deposit would have heavily influenced my experience in a more positive light. I do understand, as I was told during one conversation, I am "not the only customer," but that is no excuse for poor service especially with a customer who has already been as patient as I have. I will not be using your services nor will I recommend them in the future. Sincerely, “Dell from Hell” *5 months is not a timely manner *keeping me updated on how you were going "above and beyond" would have been nice *were you with me when I bought the device? because they never recommended making a usb recovery when it was purchased *I called frequently for updates (one time even 3 times in a row until someone finally picked up) as well as frequently checking your website (because I did FEEL like it and the instructions were clear) and emailing (this seemed to be the most reliable method) *the damages were not noticed until I had returned home and since the device is fried anyway it didn't seem worth it. It just aggravated me knowing that I'm sure you would have noticed it when it happened and didn't mention it *the $30 order that I approved? That I was told was going to come out of the $50 bench fee anyway? I apologize for not thanking you for that. Thank you.

I am very happy with the excellent service I recieved , my ipad screen needed a replacement and it was done very quickly . They pointed out that my ipad camera is not working and I explained to them that because it was bought overseas it is blocked on purpose . I had already tried fixing it at the Applestore but they assured me that it is irrepairable . I recieved my ipad with a new screen and they even fixed my camera for FREE. I was extremely happy because I had been stuck with a non working camera for 3 years . It was really so generous of them to fix it even thought I did not request it. If I ever have any issues with my apple products in the future, I will directly go to this shop . I really appreciate the fact that they went the extra mile to make me happy. I cracked my iPhone 5S screen and Bill & Dave's was by far the cheapest and fastest fix! I saved over $100 than what Apple was going to charge me, albeit with Apple they would've changed the entire face, but that was unnecessary. The next day I noticed something hadn't been adjusted quite right so I went back and they were quick to resolve the issue. They also threw in a screen protector that they had laying around! I will for sure go back and recommend others for any cell phone repairs.

My laptop cooling fan began making reallllly loud squeeky noises so I went to a major Canadian computer store chain in downtown Ottawa which advised me that I would need to drop off my laptop and it would take up to three (3) weeks before they would even look at it. After sending a quick note to B&D Computer Repair, B&D ordered a new part and replaced the fan for a minimal price....the replacement fan was installed in one day. Came in with a software issue as I had been experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD); in the end, they didn't even look at the minidump files that came with the BSODs or even correct it. They were just fishing for hardware upgrades that I could pay for. Got an actual IT analyst to check it out for me instead and they did it for free. These guys aren't worth it. Full details below: I wrote in describing my computer having a BSoD with the error code described “watchdoge_violation” whenever windows attempts to perform a system update. I bring it in, they download drivers unrelated to the BSoD error code. I relayed my concerns about robustness, so I consent to a 90$ stress test, with an overall 200$+ bill. In the end, I *still* get the BSoD described in my initial concerns and looking at the drivers they "installed", it had nothing to do with the issues I was having with the computer. They were also "recommending" to perform numerous hardware upgrades that were unnecessary, like a SSD upgrade (I'm perfectly okay with my 2GB HDD, *PLUS*, SSD upgrade incompatibilities could also create the BSoD error I encountered so it should be the LAST thing to recommend) and changing the power supply due to "strange sounds", which is totally arbitrary, and I have never had issues booting up my computer. Do your own research properly when they push for a power supply replacement. I am not the only reviewer they pushed this on and certainly won’t be the last. I asked them not to replace anything in the end, but anyone who is not informed well enough might fall for these "recommended" upgrades. In the end, I downloaded the proper driver related to the watchdog violation error, from my manufacture's website, and it's a wonder why these technicians didn't do so in the first place since I've written about the error, and they knew about the hardware incompatibilities in the first place. They offered for another service under their 6 month warranty, but who's to know what other hardware upgrades they'll recommend me in the meantime. In the end, the biggest issue is that I had clearly indicated the problem, and they chose to ignore it in lieu of everything else. Think I'll just take it into a properly licensed repair place under my manufacturer in the future. Buyer beware. Editing to respond to the owners review: they did not specify these “other numerous BSoD errors” my computer had been getting while confirming my invoice and it should have been noted as such. Take to these guys at your own risk.

I called Bill and Dave after spilling coffee on my MacBook. Dave very clearly explained the process that they would follow and how the cost of the repair would be calculated. Once they had an estimate, they contacted me, so no surprises. I needed some data off the machine immediately, and they worked hard to get it to me. I checked in a few times during the repair and the staff was courteous and informative. These are serious and knowledgeable people. I would definitely return.

Don't be fooled by the simple storefront of the Rideau St. computer repair place. These guys really know their stuff! I brought in my PC fearing the worst. They quickly retrieved my lost files, gave me great advice and sent me on my way. Can't thank them enough for their kindness!

Pretty disappointed. I picked Bill and Dave's based off of the awesome reviews I read on Google. My Mac Book Pro died, press the power button and nothing would happen. I brought it in and they recommended reflowing the computer, which I didn't understand but they said there was a 90% chance it would fix it. I said I was willing to only put 250 into fixing the computer and they said that if a reflow didn't work they would but the money to fixing it and it should not come up to more than 250. So, I paid the 170 in advance, for a reflow and they said it would take a few days. After two weeks and many phone calls to check in the progress I finally got the update that the reflow did not work and that it would cost an additional 399 to fix the computer. I said this was above my budget and they said they would look into sourcing cheaper parts. This was one month ago and no has yet to contact me. Everyone was polite and all I just get the sense that they are overly busy and a little disorganized.

These people know what they are doing and are not out to gouge or take advantage of people. When it comes time to upgrade my desktop I know where to go and I can't recommend this company highly enough.

Other low star reviews point to the same problem ;-) In addition, you've been bad mouthing me when I started pointing at broken fan connector and accusing me that i broke it (!?) which is the ultimate reason why you should be getting 0 stars really not 1. P.S. The receptionist lady didn't lie I agree with you here. I only think that you (whoever was dealing with me in person, walking around bad mouthing and insulting me) have lied and still lying. You can improve this by taking responsibility for your bad actions. Your responses clearly show that you cannot because you still trying to accuse me of something that you did.

I did not have a good experience with this business. I brought in my phone, which had extensive water damage, to be evaluated and (if possible) fixed. I would agree generally with other reviews noting that the business obviously overtaxed, and unprofessional, leading to a pretty negative, confusing customer experience. I want to caution that it is incredibly difficult to get ahold of the business by telephone. I repeatedly called the business on separate days, and was directed to a voicemail box. I left two voicemails requesting call backs - I don't think that's an unreasonable approach. I then corresponded with Dave by e-mail and explicitly noted I had left voicemails. When I visited the shop in person today, however, I was told that the voicemail box was not monitored. I questioned the utility of a unmonitored voicemail box, which is probably stuffed full of voicemails, but was met with indifference. Today, after a long 15-20 minutes of being put on hold, I went to the store to pick up my phone, having lost confidence in the shop's ability to address my repeated requests for a quote for camera repair. I was surprised by the level of indifference (and sarcasm/hostility from one employee at the mention of losing confidence in the service). I'll say that I think I misunderstood the situation, but I can definitely say that their snarky attitudes towards me did not help make thing any clearer. I felt railroaded and frustrated, and I honestly don't believe they cared. I certainly left the shop feeling like I had done something wrong, though I don't believe I did - it's never a good feeling. If the responses to other negative reviews are any indication, instead of a lengthy rebuttal explaining, presumably, why I was at fault (or, more importantly, why they were not), I would suggest the shop focus its energy on its overwhelming caseload of repairs ...or if nothing else, at least removing the voicemail box.

I’d like to put out a good word for Bill & Dave’s Computer Repair on Rideau St. I’ve had service from B&D’s a few times. First was to unlock my phone – they spent a considerable amount of time trying to save me money by unlocking it without buying the code. In the end we needed the code but what I want readers to know is that the fellows at B&D’s work hard for their customers. I also purchased four refurbished ipads from B&D’s and they spent a lot of time and patience loading 18 medical youtube videos in Swahili onto them. It is an understatement to say that this was a challenging task but they just kept at it and succeeded. Not only that, they suggested putting a mirror copy onto my laptop for future reference, and then did that too. Nothing was too big a job and each job was completed with perfection. Honest, professional and affordable plus full of creative ideas and fun to deal with. Highly recommended.

Two stars, because although they are grossly incompetent, they are relatively friendly. Tip: a half-smile will only get you so far. My rating would otherwise have been ONE star. These folks misdiagnosed what was wrong with my computer, wasted my money, held the unit for a tremendous amount of time, made numerous other unprofessional errors and were a great disappointment. They are a young company and are young people - so I tried to cut them slack at every turn and was punished for my courtesy.

Had my desktop machine repaired here. Turned out to be a bad drive I just purchased. The responsiveness and level of customer service was well above what I was expecting based on my dealings with Best Buy and Canada Computers. Bill & Dave would answer my call and take the time to explain the problem and my options unlike the other two. Clearly the owner is in the store and it shows. The lack of interest from the other two companies I mentioned was typical of larger computer retailers. The machine was fixed for a reasonable price and in a timely manner. I will absolutely use Bill & Dave again.
