My first experience with these guys. Dropped my home theater receiver off and simian(probably spelled incorrectly!) did the work. They were busy and couldn't get to my repair for a couple weeks but I was not in a rush. He gave me regular updates over the phone and was very helpful and knowledgeable and determined! He spent a lot of hours on it before finally finding the issue and didn't charge me for the extra labour. All the staff I dealt with were friendly! Highly recommended!

Stephen was very thorough and efficient but was unable to correct my problem, stating it was a software issue. They were unable to send me an invoice for their time because their own email was not working. Stephen did have a good knowledge of the computer though and could probably could fix most issues. Had to repair an LCD connector on an Alienware 15 laptop finished within a week that went well but received the computer with an unbootable OS which had been working prior to sending it in for repairs. I was told they could repair the os for $100 more this is unacceptable

Let me just say that I do all my own computer builds and repairs, so when I hit a roadblock with my home server hardware I decided to give the guys at Ducktoes a try. They were able to repair the corrupt BIOS as well correct two CPU socket pins that I bent when swapping the processor and only charged me for an hour of diagnosis. Can't say enough good things about their skills and service. Highly recommend!

I went into the store in a panic when i broke a capacitor on the motherboard, when reinstalling the cpu cooling...Sam, who is their technician, inspected the board and figured out a replacement part.Colin assured me a reasonable price and reasonable time to get the board fixed and running. Hi I brought my laptop to Ducktoes for repairs, and received excellent friendly service. I thought I was in a small town shop where everyone knows everybody. I was greeted with a smile, was told how long by computer would take for repairs, and was told what is was going to cost. The next day when I came to pick up my computer it was repaired and working in optimal condition. I would recommend Ducktoes for all your computer repair needs. My screen on my laptop went to black and I was freaked out because my computer was less than two years old. What a relief that I did not have to buy a new laptop.

These guys are awesome! A couple weeks ago, I showed up after closing time - just as they were leaving in their car - and they were so kind to reopen the store to look at my laptop. My laptop wasn't charging anymore and I was worried the charging port/jack was broken. They did some testing and figured out it was just my power cable (aka AC adapter) that was broken. They didn't have a power cable for my model in stock - so they showed me where I could buy one online ASAP. I was so grateful and offered to pay them something for their time & help - but they said it was on the house. Really great human beings :) Highly recommended!

I am so impressed with Ducktoes Computer Services! For my job during the pandemic I have to be able to conduct workshops online using the webex platform. I have spent so much money on new equipment and tech support to resolve the issues that were occuring but one call to Ducktoes and the amazing tech Colin was able to resolve the issue remotely within an hour, the issue that none of the other tech people had been able to solve.Next time I will call Ducktoes first when I need help with technical computer issues and not waste my time and money on other companies.

Fantastic service! I was attended to by both Colin and Seth, and they were both super helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The reason why I needed their services is that my cat had decided that my laptop screen would make a great chew toy, and so my 144Hz screen needed replacing. I had been doubtful that a screen like this could be fixed or replaced, but luckily a replacement was easily found and imported from China. It was fixed way sooner than expected to boot. And all at a price that was nearly half of what Gigabyte wanted to charge me to do an RMA on the unit. Great job guys.

I frantically brought my laptop into Ducktoes and their technician Ray said he could not only fix the screen but also fix the hinge that broke off the case. "WOW" later that day I picked up my laptop and it was like new, stav a few bruises from the fall. Ducktoes Computer Services and Repair had wonderful costumer service and really reasonable prices. I recommend anyone in the Calgary area that needs computer repair work, virus removal or even a website to visit. UPDATE MAY 1st: Thank you to the owner for responding so quickly! I was able to purchase the monitors I was looking for at a different store, but regardless I appreciate your response and consideration. I wish you and your business the absolute best in the future! :) Had a slightly disappointing experience today with the business. I found them through the Exmerce exchange, and was stoked to find a computer orientated business via the platform. On the website there is different products and services advertised, one of which is a selection of different monitors. I drove to the location from the SE (which ended up being around a 35 minute commute), only to find out the business neither has any monitors available, nor would they even sell them via the barter exchange. Admittedly, I take partial responsibility for wasting my own time by not calling the business to question the actual availabilities of the monitors or how they go about making use of the Exmerce exchange. With that said, the website has no information suggesting that the products are out of stock, and between the site and the Exmerce platform I could find no mention that they only allow use of the currency to cover labour costs. The entire experience was quite disappointing, and like I mentioned before, I take partial responsibility, however not updating a website to reflect product availability is a fairly large oversight aswell. I wish the business well, and I'm sure their actual repair work is fantastic based on the other reviews. With that said if you are interested in their services via Exmerce, or product selection, I wouldn't recommend it.

I went here to fix my laptop screen. I was told they would look at it and it may take 1-2 weeks to order the screen. Fair enough can't have every single computer part in stock. I got a phone call 10 mins later saying they had one in stock but it would be more expensive as it's higher quality but it would be fixed within the hour. So I sad I go for it. I dropped off my laptop and in 2 hours it was fixed! Great service and knowledge. I love how they called to asked if it would be ok to install the more expensive one. Most places would just install it anyways! Love it and would go back for any repair from here on in.

I was very happy with the results from Ducktoes. I met with Stephen to go over a parts list for a custom AMD Ryzen 5 gaming rig. He made some good recommendations and advised me it would be cheaper for me to acquire the parts myself, which I did, and he then assembled the computer for me, including basic overclocking and motherboard configuration including the lates BIOS upgrade. He billed me for two hours work and I got it one day later. It's working flawlessly and I'm most happy with the result. Would definitely go back to Ducktoes should the need arize.

So I had an issue with my GeForce Gtx 980 to graphics card. The issue was I had a Canada party and someone spilled beer on my computer. I decided to see if ducktoes could help me before I went forked out another 800 dollars for a replacement card. Within two days they fixed my graphic card and saved me a lot of money. My Husband was pretty disappointed with the customer service and broken promises. We brought our PC in for Virus Removal & Optimization on Monday, they said they’d be able to have a look at it in a few days and should have it done by Friday. It wasn’t however. He was then promised it would be done for sure on Monday and to come in then around 5:00PM. He went down at 5:00PM and it still was not finished as promised. They said they would call when it was ready the next day. So we’re now at the following Tuesday (8 Days in). We didn’t receive a call, instead we called at 3:30PM and they finally said it is ready. They did fix everything…. almost! The viruses were removed yes, but we had to call them back because one of our drivers was not functioning properly. We were unable to open one of the programs, kept seeing error messages. We had one of the techs fix it remotely while we were on the phone. Really, this all should’ve been done and ready for use when we picked up our PC. Overall, they do seem like good people, and maybe I just had a bad experience, but they need to deliver a little bit better on their promises.

A short while ago the w key began malfunctioning on my laptop. The initial damage occurred due to poor design and, after a period of attempting to limp it along until I have something resembling spare time, the w's membrane had suffered some damage, too. Simeon provided a prompt, inexpensive solution that rendered my laptop fully functional in a time-frame compatible with my hectic schedule. tl;dr Ducktoes were able to provide exactly what I needed, when I needed it.

Broke a small cable inside my laptop when I took it apart for cleaning. Ducktoes was recommended to me by another company who doesn't do this type of repairs. I reached out and sent some photos of the issue, they provided a quote very quickly, I brought it in and a few days later it was good to go! Recently my laptop screen just went off and I decided to fix it myself. I needed some help along the way. Went there for a quick question/consultation. They really went extra miles and explain how everything works to me in detail. I could not believe that they stayed half an hour over time to just explain things to and actually encouraged me to try fix it myself. They even gave a broken screen that was still working to take home and test my motherboard with. Either their help I finally realized that the new screen cable that I had recently bought was bad. July 28, 2017: Once again Colin at Ducktoes came to my rescue. My sister had been struggling with her computer's HDD filling up (seemingly by iteself). Between us we had exhausted all possibilities so I called Colin. In less than 3 minutes he had recommended a utility (testsize), which we downloaded and ran to get a graphical directory tree of the drive. The culprit file was readily apparent after a few minutes of the program starting to read the files. A quick deletion of that file and then checking the program for it's backup defaults solved this puzzle. I continue to recommend Ducktoes. They have done an excellent job for my family to date, whether cleaning, repairing or just offering a quick bit of advice on the phone. Ducktoes - my "Go To" place for computer repairs. May - 2017: I have been lucky over the years and for the most part have been able to fix most issues on my computers. About 4 months ago, my niece's husband inadvertently formatted a Windows USB drive on a Mac. Sadly, it had a lifetime of photos on it. She had called around to some of the big box name stores and was quoted anywhere from $300 - $3,000 to recover their data. I did it myself with about $50 worth of software and a spare USB drive to recover the data to. This left me with a huge distrust of the various "geek squads", so when my daughter's laptop's power jack went on the fritz a month later I did some research on the repair. Finding the proper replacement part was the biggest hurdle. I stumbled across a listing for "Ducktoes". Odd name but it piqued my curiosity so I did lots of reading on their site. The company was initially involved in web design, "make a splash with your website" - hence Ducktoes. Cute and rather catchy. I took the plunge and gave them a call. Colin knew instantly what the issue likely was and as we talked impressed me with his knowledge and experience with computers. I arranged to drop the computer off the next day. It was ready for my son-in-law to pick up after work the following day. Fast service and reasonably cost. As luck would have it, a friend donated his old gaming laptop to me after we had been talking one afternoon. I had been picking his brain for the best processor and video card etc. as I was thinking of replacing my old laptop. He had been trying to fix his keyboard a year ago (as a sidenote - a steak knife is not a recommended keyboard reapir tool), so he said I could have his old machine which had been just gathering dust. I was going to take it in the next day when my sister called and complained about her work laptop overheating etc. She was quite concerned as she needed it for month and year end work the next day. I took both computers to Ducktoes to see what they could do. My sister's laptop they cleaned and lubricated, then tested the cooling system while I had lunch. Awesome service and a real life saver for her. The gaming laptop of course needed a new keyboard which Colin quickly sourced at a decent price from China. It would likely take a month or more to arrive so I picked up my laptop the next day to use in the meantime with an external keyboard. They had also run some diagnostics and found a bad RAM stick which explained the odd reboot issues I had experienced. Surprise! Two weeks later the new keyboard was in and I made arrangements to deliver it to the shop for the needed work. Again, the work was top notch and ready when promised at a very reasonable cost. 3 for 3 in about a month, highly recommend this shop for just about anything you need done. Dave B

My experience at Ducktoes was excellent. I needed my laptop palm-rest and lower case replaced due to a broken screw housing. I brought it in (without appointment) at 10:20am and by 11:40am it was finished and ready to go. I had previously called three other places and was told it would be a minimum 5-business-day wait. As a PhD student, a week without my laptop is a huge dip into my productivity, so the speed and ease with which Ducktoes handled by request was hugely appreciated. An added bonus was the fact that their service was around 30% cheaper than other places. I couldn't recommend them more.

This is the first bad review I have ever written as I'm very upset with the laptop repair job I received and overall had a pretty terrible experience. I brought my $3000 laptop which had a broken screen to Ducktoes for repair. I received a quote for roughly $530 to repair the computer screen which I agreed to. After the repair had been considered "done", I received a phone call informing me that although they fixed my screen, the webcam and microphone now does not work, but they would still be charging me the $530 anyway. It was not until after an awkward debate with them saying that this was unacceptable, and that this was not what I paid for, that they agreed that they would keep trying to fix it. I then got a phone call saying that the laptop was fixed and it was ready for pick up, so I sent my brother to go pick it up (as I was in quarantine at the time since I had just gotten back into town). When my brother finally delivered the "repaired" laptop it to me, this is when I noticed a ton of issues: - The replacement screen was installed crooked - The replacement screen installed had discolored pixels (either a defective replacement screen or was damaged during the repair process) - The wire ribbon that connects the screen to the laptop motherboard was repaired with a white one, instead of a black one. - A corner of the laptop where the screen sits is bent and scratched. - An edge of the laptop is dented. - A portion of the rubber that runs around the screen is damaged - Tape used to secure the metal "border" for the screen was coming off constantly, resulting in the border of the screen being pushed out and separating, making it very unsightly. Unhappy with this repair, I contacted Ducktoes to see what could be done. They explained all the reasons as to why this was such a poor quality repair. I was told that it was a difficult repair due to the slim design of my laptop, as well as it being a gaming brand (Razer) laptop where parts were very hard to acquire. On top of that, I was told that vendor that they purchased the replacement cable from lied about the replacement cable compatibility, and thus they had to somehow make it work (I don't remember the details exactly, but nonetheless, they used a white replacement cable instead of a black one). I empathize with that, their vendor lying wasn't their fault. However, as a paying customer paying to have his $3000 dollar laptop repaired, that really isn't "my" problem that I should have to suffer for. When I agreed to pay $530 dollars to have my laptop screen repaired, I expected it to be returned to its original condition. Had I known that it would be returned in such poor condition with so many issues, I would have sent it back to the original manufacturer (Razer - who quoted me $700) to have the repair done instead of Ducktoes. On top of all that, when I asked about what could be done about all these issues, I was told over the phone that only the labour could be refunded, which was $165 of the total cost. When I went into the store to get the refund, they tried to ask me if I would accept only half of the labor refund because the person repairing it worked really hard and ran into a lot of issues. After a discussion of me explaining how this was unacceptable, I was refunded the $165. Imagine bringing your car in to get your cracked windshield replaced, only to noticed that your new windshield now has a rockchip, the windshield is installed on crooked, with shotty adhesives, prymarks that scratched your paint, and a new dent in the door. To top it off, they say, "You still got a "new" windshield still so we can only refund you the labor". I really do sympathize that it must have been a difficult repair job - which I do think Ducktoes should have declined to repairing it if they did not have the competency to repair it or if it was going to be so difficult. However, as a paying customer, who is now down $365 with an extremely shotty repair job, I am not impressed and would advise you from having your laptop repaired here.

Great service. I dropped my damaged gaming monitor off to see if it could be repaired. They did a diagnostic check and I had a phone call within an hour of dropping it off. Unfortunately the panel is beyond repair and this particular panel is hard to come by but they did not charge me for the diagnostics. Will be using them again in the future fore sure!

They gave back my moms laptop with a hole jab in the screen, clearly a tool stab in the screen used improperly. Ducktoes tried to give it back as though she had brought in the laptop like that and she wasn’t JUST paying for them to fix the screen in the first place... they gave in right away to her complaints which means they knew they were trying to steal money for not actually providing any services, and they were aware they caused more damage but tried to get away with it... then gave my moms laptop back a second time where everything was fixed but the screen was extremely bubbly. Highly recommend not dealing with inconsiderate people who aren’t forward and honest. I’m still very angry that my sweet mom had to go through this. Don’t ever charge someone again when you clearly didn’t do them any services, you just damaged the product even further.

The power brick for my laptop gave up the ghost and Geek Squad really didn't want to fix it (they stated that they'd have to send it to the manufacturer for two to three weeks and MAYBE it could be fixed and that a new battery would cost $250). Geek Squad then suggested I just buy a new computer from them while not caring that I had a ton of files on my current laptop. Horrible, apathetic service. Ducktoes has great customer service (Seth and Colin) and they assured me they could fix my laptop as quickly as possible. They fixed it in less than a week (keep in mind I gave them my laptop three days before Christmas) and found a replacement power brick at less than the originally quoted price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ducktoes to anyone experiencing computer issues.

I hate to give bad reviews but this time, I really don't have a choice. I strongly recommend you to read this. At the begining of June, I spilled a glass of water on my mac computer. I had to go out of town for work and I couldn't drive to a mac specialized store as I don't have a car. I tried XPS computer repair that are picking up computer from house but they couldn't come so they referred me to Ducktoes. I wasn't so confident about the place as it is not for mac but I did not have a choice. When I got to the store with my computer, I've been told I would have a diagnostic in less than 48hours. I haven't heard from them for 5 days. Then, when I called they said they couldn't give me one because they did not have a plug for my computer (which is a regular macbook..) I've been told I would receive a call from them in the next few days. A week passed and hadn't heard from them. We are now mid-june. They told me that everything is fine with my computer except the keyboard that they have to change. They says they have to order one online and that it should take 1 to 2 weeks. I had a french canadian keyboard which is almost the same as english so I told them they could take an english one if it was easier. I told them NOT to take a french one because it is different but of course that is what they did! A little more than three weeks after, I called the place to see if my computer was ready. The keyboard was not there yet because it had been order from China. Any specialised mac store would have those kind of keyboards!! They told me it should arrive on July 12. I don't know if it got there in time but it was only ready to be picked up on July 18. When I got to the store, I told the guy that it wasn't the right keyboard and he had no idea what I was talking about. I've been honest with him and said that I would give a bad review explaining him the reasons. He denied the fact that they didn't contact me but I got a voicemail and I can see missed call... They made me paid less than they said at the beginning but I feel I shouldn't even had paid. I had to wait for a month and a half for something that could and should have been done in no more than a week. I am currently writing on a keyboard that is not the same that we use in North America. I know the keys by heart but if someone else tries to write on my computer, it will be impossible because the keys are not at the right place. Sometimes I forget where a letter or sign is and it takes me a few minutes to find it. I know I could change the settings but seriously it is like starting to know how to type again!! I am so unsatisfied by their service.

Should have been a red flag. After Memory Express kept it for three days and did totally bugger all, I took it in to Ducktoes. They have saved my bacon three times hence. They're friendly, knowledgable and willing to go the extra mile. Even stayed in their shop with me well past closing hours because they knew I needed it the next day (and that was when I took it in in the evening on my way home from work). Upgraded to ryzen. My mobo did not support ryzen without a bios update which they told me after I took it into them. They also kindly informed me that memory express will update the motherboard for free. When memory express messed up and wanted money to "diagnose my system" I took it here and they did it. They were really fast, honest and very friendly. 10/10 would bring pc again.

This computer repair company is different than any I've ever used. There is a welcoming atmosphere when you walk in and a lot going on...like a community feel. and instead of fixing a computer in three weeks like other computer shops I've used, the repair was two and a half days. That is fast for a reformatting and reinstall and also fixing the screen. Once at a box store, I waited four weeks for a screen. And three weeks for a new hard drive at another small repair shop. This place is so fast. Plus when there are little glitches they will do a remote repair so you don't have to bring the computer in...awesome service.

Don't normally write reviews, but very happy with Ducktoes!! Just recently had our PC in to them to remove a partition set up by another company that was preventing us from using it properly. We asked about some other add-on services we thought we might need, but they suggested we hold off to see if it was even necessary - no sense paying for work we didn't need (appreciated their honesty!). In the end, they did what we asked, and also optimize the system and gave it a general checkup for what the original quote was (which was super reasonable!). Extremely happy with the level of service received. Surprised at how quickly they took care of everything and had it back to us (24hr turnaround - wow!). They explained what they were going to do before they did it, answered all of our questions, got our approval prior to any work being done and made sure everything was running smoothly. Would definitely recommend them and will definitely be back if we have any additional needs.

I took my laptop to three other shops and they all said the virus was so bad they'd have to wipe out my hard drive including my work documents and all my photos including my videos of my fishing trips and wedding. Ducktoes worked and worked on the virus for a few days and finally had success without losing any photos and only charged a flat rate instead of by the hour. An employee workstation at my business got a horrible virus and all his files were encrypted and I called Ducktoes early this morning after not sleeping all night . The owner answered her phone and came to my business and removed the virus today at 5 am on a Saturday morning!! She just happened to be up early because her shoulder hurt (I think) and was so concerned about my business losing everything. She came in 15 minutes. I can't thank her enough because if I had lost all my company documents...which this virus does I would have lost thousands of dollars of work. She seemed as worried about the files and my business as I was. She said she did the same last week for a lawyer when his law office got the virus. The virus is called Cryptolocker and the criminals want money to remove it. If you don't pay you lose the documents forever. I did lose the employees documents but his don't matter as much as others. If you get it unhook the computer from the network or it will spread. Lucklily I had turned it off. That is what I learned this morning. She said usually you lose everything.

I really like Ducktoes. Just going in there the people are friendly and they fixed my computer in a couple of days. The hard drive was bad and they put in an ssd hard drive and that made my laptop faster. Their prices are a lot better than Best Buy and Staples and their service is way better too. The techs know what they are doing. Best Buy kept my computer for several weeks for a similar issue and charged about double. Just going into Ducktoes it seems they are neighbourhood place and it has a good feeling about it.
