RedNeck GreenThumb

Phone was fixed excellently and on time by the girl that works there, yet the young man tried to steel the screen protector that my case came with.. was not impressed at all. " oh that's just a piece of plastic."

Great place! Efficient, knowledgeable and very reasonable! Deegan is fantastic to work with

Crazy James Waikle

Friendly and convenient. Lots of selection

Lori Larson

I'm extremely happy I went to Alberta Computers yesterday. Shop local, buy local! Duncan was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and we picked out what I needed in a matter of minutes! He answered all of my questions and provided me with discounts on some refurbished items they had, which saved me money. I would definitely recommend this company :)

I went here for a hard drive recovery on my old laptop that had eaten a bunch of my files. They gave me accurate & reasonable estimates of prices, and the work was completed in a timely manner. They were accommodating of putting the recovered files onto my own external hard drive, rather than purchasing another unnecessary USB stick. I would go back for future computer problems ????????

Amanda Wilson

I was having issues for weeks with my computer shutting off randomly and rebooting. I took my PC to Best Buy at first to diagnose and they were unable to find the problem and it kept happening when I got it back, they said they would have to ship it to their depot to do further testing. I decided to try Alberta Computers because they were local and recommended by many friends to diagnose the problem and they were able to find a faulty RAM, I had and replaced it in house and had it back to me as long as it took BB to diagnose/not find anything. Super friendly staff, love the texts you get for completion, they explain everything to you that you want to know about. Still no issues with my PC. Please use them over any corporate PC shop.

Great customer service

Tomas Bodnar

Absolutely blown away by the customer service at this outfit. For starters, these guys will not scam you or waste your time. I have built many computers in my day and the most recent build wasn't going great. Dropped off to see if the boys could diagnose as i was loosing my mind (no boot / no post). They concluded i recieved a lemon of a psu and it fried the mobo. (Newegg purchase) I bit the bullet and purchased a new psu and mobo because i didnt want to wait for rma, build is for a friend. Buddy told me he'd put it together for a measly 40$ as majority of the build was done, and if parts were defective they would replace. Great deal! So i said ok. No more headaches for me. -came back the next day to pick up, and first thing they said to me is we owe ya XX amiunt of $ as a refund. I was baffled. Buddy went on to explain they tinkered with the defective mobo, saudered a bunch of stuff, fixed potentially bent pins... and why? Because they are frigin awesome! I already paid for new mobo amd expected nothing more than assembly at this point. These guys go out of their way to save you money. This kind of service is incredibly rare in this world. I will never go to a different tech shop again, not in gp anyways. Thanks guys!!

Nicholas George

Great place to find a computer at a good deal, and friendly staff. I had bought a gaming desktop and crypto mining machine from them. Had an issue with the miner, I brought it in and had it back withing 2 days after it caught fire (my bad). Would recommend for any computer or phone repair thanks to the fast and friendly service.

ColdBacon

After my streaming set up died, I brought it down to them in the am and they took care of me right away, had to order some parts but I was reassured they would be here soon and put together by a technician and will be ready to use in a week or so time. I usually have poor experiences with computers places but So far so good, I will update in a week!

Had what I was looking for at a basic level, but lacked any options beyond generic brand... For a computer shop, I would have expected some decent brands to be available.

I took my Sony smartphone in for a screen repair, and a faulty screen was installed as a replacement. The screens too drop down menu became unresponsive about a month after installation. In addition the screen was not affixed properly and would constantly lift in the corners. I was advised by the repair tech that this was normal and to keep pushing the corner down, he was rude and condescending and gave me the impression that warranty work wasn't an option. After several months my screen cracked from constantly pushing the corner down. I finally got fed up and I took the phone back for warranty repair, and while replacing the faulty and now cracked screen the tech wrecked my dual sim card reader, and installed the wrong bezel colour. He switched the bezel back to my original colour and original screen, but lost my screen protector. When I complained that my phones sim card readers weren't working, I was told that my phone was defective and that it was overheating (Sony phones are notoriously warm) and when I attempted to assert this fact I was scoffed at and dismissed. My phone worked perfectly (except the faulty screen) before taking it in for warranty repair, and suddenly didn't work after the tech took it apart twice. It cannot read a sin card and is useless as a phone. I was promised a refurbished phone for my troubles (no refund offered) and both times I went in to collect it, It wasn't available or the employees didn't know what I was talking about. The owner hasn't returned the calls I've made on the matter and I have effectively given up. Shame on me for trusting a small town local business. I would not trust Alberta computers to repair your smartphone. If they break it while repairing they will feed you as many BS lines as possible until you give up on finding a resolution.

Don't go here. The customer is never right. They will gladly take your money to fix your phone but if it's the "manufacture" problem they won't help you until you pay a full amount. The owner said he would meet me halfway with my glitchy broken LCD screen on my iPhone, never gave me a price and justified why he wouldn't because of this the way the screen was broken. My phone was in an otter box that they put my phone in when they fixed my screen.

Harrelson Edradan

Just wanna ask guys, i just drop my laptop to their shop to fix my system but they couldn’t fix it they said there’s nothing they can do about it. But they still ask $60 bucks for not fixing my laptop???? I wonder why??? Anybody opinion here?

Sent my dad here after finding they were the MSI warranty repair shop recommended in town; he had a simple ribbon cable issue on the monitor of his laptop causing the screen to flicker or disconnect, easily discovered by hooking the laptop up to an external monitor to verify the hardware issue. After more than four months and hundreds of dollars, they managed to take a simple cable replacement issue and turn it into a fried CPU - apparently they managed to short it out. They have offered no replacement or rectification of the issue. Extremely embarrassed to have ever recommended them, so I am doing my due diligence to never do so again. Edit: There is, of course, more detail to a many months long saga than noted in my initial review. And, it is true, the processor is now fried, as the laptop will no longer post, so that is indisputable. It's worth noting that this damage occured while the laptop was in Alberta Computers care, where before there was only a screen flicker. Initially, Alberta Computers did advise the laptop monitor be changed wholesale, which my dad agreed to as he chose to trust the professionals. As the owner has rightly indicated, a ribbon cable is often damaged by the hinge on a laptop and is annoying to replace, which is why I advised a professional do so. The issue had already been diagnosed, but Alberta Computers advised the monitor change, which, of course, did not rectify the issue but did cost $200+. This led to the screen being totally blacked out and led to the follow up, which resulted in sending the laptop away. From there, it's anyone's guess how the laptop ended up critically impaired while under the care of professionals. I stand by my initial review.

Helpful, knowledgeable, and quality customer service.

Staff was very helpful. Fixed it in a day. Deegan was very helpful as was Austin.

Great service, friendly staff, and the owner is a great guy! I got a good deal on an expensive graphics card, and I would definitely trust them for any high end parts I would look to purchase in the future. The card still works perfectly after a few months, and they even helped out with some connectors to hook up the monitors I have. All in all, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend stopping by here for anything you might need!

Not good. Last year, I had two devices brought in for repairs and both of them had no work done. First, I had brought in my Surface 3 tablet because the screen cracked. When I showed them the tablet, they said they couldn’t fix it because they never done repairs on a Surface tablet before. They acted as if they’ve never seen one before and they apparently know nothing about Surface tablets. The second computer I took in was an Acer computer that wouldn’t connect to the Internet. It was brand new, so there was a manufacturing defect going on, but I didn’t know that until I fixed it myself. While they did take in and I got it back in just a few days, I got the problem log and receipt and it said that “Unit has malware”. What? It never connected to the Internet before, so how could it have gotten malware? My antivirus program never detected anything either. I checked the computer and the problem remained. I scanned through the files on my computer and found no evidence that any work was done. I paid $200 for this??? Eventually I fixed it myself by removing the internal Wi-Fi detector and started using an external one. That’s when I got into DIY repairs. I have never gotten a successful repair on any devices that I brought in, so I will probably never go there again.

I have used Alberta computers a few times and they have always came through. A couple months ago I was having problems with my laser printer not scanning and they sent someone to my house and they had the problem fixed in under an hour. I bought a asus tablet type laptop from them and it’s been great. I’m really glad I didnt buy a bulky traditional laptop. It was all because of their recommendation. I’ll be buying all my computers here in the future.

I would give 0 stars if I could 2 weeks ago I took my Samsung s6 in to get the battery replaced which is $50. I handed my phone over and unlocked it for them. 10min later they came out and said the screen was fried, it obviously wasn't when I gave it to them because I typed in my code to unlock it. So a $50 battery turned into a $315 fix on an old s6 , it doesn't seem like it should cost me $315 because the screen fried when they had it apart changing battery. They're supposed professionals and I needed it fixed quick because I was on call. After getting it back the speaker didn't work so people couldn't hear me talk. I didn't go back because I didn't have hundreds more dollars to waste on a s6. I had to buy a new phone, what a waste of $315. Do yourself a favor and go over to Cellphone Expert in the Co-op Plaza

Got a few confused moments when asking questions. I said I wanted a simple PC just to run OBS which my ancient office PC is doing right now. Not a problem just wanted an update. Instead tried to get me into one of their more top of the line gaming PC, which is cool and all but I just wanted one that doesn't have a noise like a jet engine firing up, not a four thousand dollar streaming PC. Tried to explain my intentions for the PC and was assured it would do the job. The sales rep was informative so can't say anything bad. But I got limited space and don't want another mini fridge size PC in my gaming area. ????

Took in my used desk top like the tower in for a cleaning and they didn't call use when it was done so we waited 7 hours went in to see if it was done it wasn't so we waited till the next day and took them over 24 hours and still no call to let us know its done so we called and said it was done but there was a problem with it now and we DIDNT HAVE ONE PROBLEM WITH IT TILL THEY TOOK IT. so pissed off now

Had them build me a computer. Its hasn't worked right ever since. This well be the third time I've had to send it in for repairs, them say "it's fixed now" and within the first hour of use find that it's still not working. Your better off just buying a prebuilt computer somewhere else and not using alberta computers at all

Got a iPad screen replaced. They replaced it with a garbage screen had big black lines in it when the screen was turned off. Brought it back and still a garbage screen. Not being replaced with apple products. Works perfect for about a month then the corners stop working. Because they “replaced” it twice the second screen doesn’t have warranty so I can’t even bring it back. Terrible.

This used to be the best place in Grande Prairie for cell phone repair. The last few times, however, the phones have come out with new problems, caused during the repair.

Wonderful Service!! My computer at my business started making loud noises and stopped working, Alberta Computers sent someone immediately and had me up and running in no time! I also had a major power surge at my home that fried the computer I use to do pay roll and it was a day away from payday. I took it in and they had me up and running in 20 mins! The owner is a great guy and the staff has always been friendly.

This is one very appreciative customer who bought a new laptop at Alberta Computers and benefited greatly from Austin's explanations and set ups and then Sam's research and persistence in solving a unique-but-not-beyond-him issue. Thank you!

Very disjointed service for my cellphone. Took months to get a battery changed. I was without my contacts and calendar the whole time. Had to buy another phone while this took place.

I went in, having an issue with my computer. Two of them were quickly ready and willing to help me, even though they were incredibly busy. They were both extremely nice, humorous, and helpful. It didn’t take them long to figure out my issue, and sent me on my way. I then encouraged my boyfriend to bring his cell phone there right after. They took his phone in immediately. Absolutely great! I would at any time recommend Alberta computers! My $2100 msi laptop was having serious problems. After diagnostics confirm that it didn't work, they gave me a brand new one. I was quite upset, but they stayed calm through that whole thing. As for the review by Colin Tennant, they told me thier side of the story which confirmed that Alberta computers treated her with respect when she really didn't deserve it. She use her boyfriend/husbands account to leave a review. Alberta computers did not tell or recommend me to leave a review, this is totally my decision.

Joseph Mcgraw

Best place in town to go if you need new battery on your tablet or phone

Danielle Cherewyk

We had a difficult problem which shut down our systems at our business. They didn't get it the first time, so they came back over the weekend and got us all up and running. We will definitely call them for any future computer needs!

Jacob Wasylchew

Took my phone here cause my screen was cracked . An hour later it was fixed and back in my hands

Lorne Savill

Took my asus zen phone in and supplied the screen also went to pick it up a couple hrs later and the screen was not installed properly and phone would not turn on. The case was also damaged where they pried the old screen out. Also noticed the new screen was cracked..they told me it was not their problem that sometimes it happens..they did not even refund my install fee. Took it to Skyline Micro Systems, they took it apart in front of me..Alberta comp. Tech had used crazy glue instead of the proper adheasive and had not hooked up the on off circut cord..cost me another 220.00 to get a new screen and installed properly.. DONT GO TO ALBERTA COMPUTERS FOR NOTHING.

Ray Haakstad

I've been to Alberta Computers a few times over the years. I've bought a laptop, as well as a desk top computer. Both were very positive experiences. My last trip was to have my battery replaced in my iphone (like in the radio commercials). I dropped the phone off, and went to grab a quick lunch. It was ready the minute I got back to the store (less than an hour). Staff was very friendly and informative. Thanks Alberta Computers! Keep up the good work!

Sheldon Crowe

My wife Gail & I have dealt with Alberta Computers recently. We will definitely be calling them in the future for any problems we have. Sam was very professional and a pleasure to deal with while he fixed our computer remotely. Thanks Sam

Angela La Fleur

One star is generous. A few things, computers had been at this store for over a few months, there were a few times where myself or my son went to pick them up and they ended up still being damaged, one screen wouldn’t turn on and they said that they could warranty it.... once brought back I came back a few weeks later and the computers were still not fixed however the worker tried to hand them off to me completely pulled apart with missing parts! When I told them no and to keep it and fix it I watched as I was leaving and they tried giving it to the customer behind me, I had to tell him to make sure to put it in the back. I had finally been able to pick them up this previous weekend and without knowing any better, drove the six hours home only to find out that one of his computers still wasn’t working the way it should be and the one that had its screen replaced was somehow replaced with another branded computer screen and they are ASUS GAMING LAPTOPS. After paying previously, he still had to pay nearly $800 more and when he called they said that they couldn’t do much for him. I do not recommend them at all. Take your money elsewhere, this is ridiculous.

Verninator K

Rebecca Wiebe

A few months ago I had them replace the screen on my iPhone for over $200, he put a faulty screen on that had paint over the sensor which turns the key pad off while the phone is up to your ear. I took it back, he scratched the paint off, which looked terrible, he reluctantly put a new screen on while also being very rude to me. I broke the screen again and took it to staples this time because I hate alberta computers. The man at staples was super friendly and it was way cheeper than alberta computers. Staples was unable to change the screen because the person that did it before stripped all the screws, so now the whole phone has to be replaced. I went into alberta computers with it in writing from the guy at staples. The manager has never gotten back to me and has been ducking my phone calls for two weeks. Save your time and money and take it to staples.

Don't waste your time even walking in their door. Used to be $115 a couple of months ago to replace the front screen. The staff member was very rude like he didn't have time to talk to me, and quoted me a minimum $250.00 and I woulf have to leave it there overnight. Prices are outrageous and customer service is terrible. Don't bother with Alberta computers.

I have used Alberta Computers a number of times to straighten out, download, fix, a number of concerns with my computer and/or laptop. Today Sam Maki helped me with another concern. He did an outstanding stellar job. Pleasant to talk to, very patient, and understanding, and very skilled. I highly recommend this company and their staff!! Carole P.

Barbara Meyer

I was getting ready to purchase a new computer and was doing some research on the one which would be the best choice. My last purchase was a total bomb (not the good kind of bomb but the kind of bomb that makes your head blow up kind of bomb). The young fellow, Sam, took lots of time asking what I would use the computer for and price range. I left the price range open, as I was willing to pay to not get stuck with another bomb. Sam was knowledgeable, very friendly, and did not try to up-sale me. This more than anything convinced me to take home my Lenovo that day. I have had my new laptop for 2 weeks now and Sam was spot on the money for what would suit me best. Thanks Sam

Had to get Screen replaced on my sons older iphone. Accidently gave them the wrong model number. They recognized my mistake immediately and had the right part on hand to fix the screen. Then to deserve the five star rating, they had the repair done very fast and even charged the phone while they waited for us to come pick it up. They will have my buisness again.

I brought my mac in to becleaned & replace my battery. After I recieved it back it was operating extremely slow & my mail quit working. I chalked the slowness to it being old. Did small troubleshoot with email & left it as again I chalked it up to age. Today I sat down & went thru my computer. Luckily I’m a trained apple computer tech. Email issue was due to them setting a proxy on my network. Deleted that & promptly re-added my email, went thru all my setting & removed what they changed & added, went on browser & removed the extensions they added. My computer is working like a brand new machine. I recimmend if you own a mac & use them, have someone who can check it out after. I’ll be helping my neice tonight get hers working as she has the same issue.

I would give less if it was possible. I took my computer to these guys three months ago to have a screen issue repaired. They replaced the screen at a cost of two hundred plus dollars. Within a day it was obvious that the issue was not taken care of. Took it back to find out that the wires connecting the screen to the computer was wearing. Apparently the old screen had been thrown out, so I could not get it back. Have waited two more months for them to try and find the patch cord to do the actual repair. I have been told that it does not exist in North America. So I am out money, and these guys want to do nothing for me. Would have been better off getting a twelve year old to look at it.

HORRIBLE.. I spent 2200$ on a desktop and monitor and the computer had serious issues from the time I purchased it. It would blue screen and shut down during easy to run games and I brought my computer back in to Alberta Computers 6 consecutive times to get this problem fixed and all 6 times they returned the computer to me assuring me they fixed the problem and as soon as I would get home the same problem would happen. By the 6th attempt at getting this computer fixed I had reached the end of my warranty and have essentially been screwed over by these guys. I will NEVER go back to these guys for anything.

Terrible terrible terrible!!! I absolutely would not recommend Alberta Computers for anything!!! They are crooked thieves! I dropped off my sons nearly new Nexus 7 in the first week of October 2015 to have its screen repaired, by December when I had not heard from them I called to check the status of it, they had an excuse that they received the wrong screen. In my opinion they should have notified me. Than came the middle of January and again I still had not heard from them regarding my Nexus 7 repair. It wasn't until the end of January they informed me that it was finally ready for pick up. When I went it to pick it up the tablet had been scratched up the screen was peeling off and it had a huge dent it the bezel, which they blamed on me, saying it was because it was dropped: which is was not, my 3 year old stepped on it. There was no damaged when I dropped it off besides the screen as it was always in a protective case! They charged me $60 for a diagnose and $100 for the screen, when I returned home, after being charged for a whole day the tablet did not work! I than had a very kind man from facebook offer to look at it and question why the screen was peeling and there was damage to the bezel. Being that the bezel gets replaced during screen repair. My answer was Alberta Computers! So in the end they charged me for a new screen, didn't replace the bezel, blamed me for the bezel damage ( when the it was repaired again he mentioned the damage was from prying, not being dropped!!) and a diagnoses, how would they know what was wrong besides the screen if it wouldn't turn on! Like I said crooks and thieves!! FYI if you ask anybody about them, they'd pretty much say the same thing, don't was your money or your time!

Kerry Elliott

Sam from Alberta Computers came into our work place over the last several days and I was highly impressed. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient and he got everything working very quickly. I really appreciated his kind attitude and will definitely use Alberta Computer again.

I went to Alberta Computers thinking I needed to purchase a whole new desk top tower. After speaking to Sam, he suggested that all I possibly needed was a new hard drive. Within 24 hours I had my computer back and it is better than ever! He could've have easily sold me a whole new computer, but his honesty and character is the reason I am writing my first review ever!! I would highly recommend Alberta Computers and Sam!! Incredible customer service, which these days can be hard to come by at times!! I will definitely be a returning customer for any technical needs in the future!! Thanks again Sam!!

Not impressed, $31 "service charge" even though they were unable to actually do anything with the phone. Paid for nothing.
