Here you will see the opinions of people who are buying the services of Regent Student Living (College) in the area of Saint Catharines (Canada).
Right now this firm gets a rating of 4.1 out of 5 and the score is based on 63 reviews.
As you can see its rating is really good, and it is based on a high number of scores, so we can conclude that the evaluation is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are happy, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to put reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This College belongs to the category of Furnished apartment building.
Regent, Regent, Regent. I spent 2 years here and it might not have been perfect in every way, but it was still really nice with lots of amenities. I loved the fact that I didn't have to go anywhere else when I needed to study or do laundry. Even has a pretty decent gym for working out.
It’s a pretty great building with a really good living environment. The space that was assigned to me was quiet, spacious and well maintained. Each room was fully-furnished & the building was equipped with lots of amenities like air conditioning, a bathroom, a comfy bed, high speed internet and more. I can't say enough good about this place.
Would give one star if I could, suites are over priced, you pay extra for parking and its quite a hike to downtown. You can easily find nicer, closer and cheaper student housing anywhere in St. Catherines or Thorold. I pray no one wastes their money on this apartment complex
Staff had many issues with the staff, requested for things to be fixed multiple times, they do not do any actions unless it requires you needing to pay them. multiple errors where they take money from my bank account then email me about missing payments. Multiple times where they take money and claim there were payments due (on going issue). Apartment next year reservation I informed them that I wanted to stay for next year since you have to reserve before time if you don't want your room claimed by someone else, and all the papers were done and handed back to them. everything was all quiet until august came by and I was informed to clear my room. I asked them why and they told me that I do not have a room for next year. I argued with them and told them about it and all they replied to me is (the employee that managed my things is not working there anymore), this was not my issue since it is not my error but they don't reply back which is very unprofessional. I was forced to move back to my parents house since I could not find a residence in time. Im now forced to commute 2 hours everyday because of they're irresponsibility and carelessness , this not only increases. my spendature on gas but also puts on unnecessary kilometres on my car, and university students are limited on these. The Gym The gym at James street has unsafe equipment where injury could happen, they are never maintained and never lubricated which is dangerous. the vending machines has only been filled once in the two years I've been there. the soda vending machine seemed to never work and always took your money! I placed a 20 dollar bill in it and they said wait until it the vending machine is refilled (which never happened) and contact us again so we can give you a compensation. (which again never happened) Design the design of the place is pretty nice with a modern look but its a shame on how badly they manage the place. James Street Store When I first joined Regent on James street I was promised to have the mini store opened for next year. time passed and I've never seen any progress for it and is still an empty room. The Rooms the apartment is very satisfying, the place has an apartment feel over a dorm feel which is good. fire alarms are too sensitive and tend to go off from cooking things. Price increases every year For the two years I've been there the price of rent increased. without any word of why and if it is actually going In to fix things. from what I've seen no progress has ever been made ever since the price increases, and I've been told from other peers that it is still increasing and again, nothing is going into fixing the place the underground parking I expected the underground parking to be safe for my car, since this is one of the main reasons why I chose to live there, I owned a $60,000 and it was regularly vandalized issues with people leaving drinks on it, putting fast-food bags and the once had someone leave the drink on it but sideways so all the liquid came out and spilled on the paint, all of these are harmful for the paint. I tried to contact regent about this but never had a solution. other than that the parking is good for keeping your car out of the snow. Events the events look to be fun and involves residents and lets them connect with each other its a good way to introduce people and for them to form a community. but it only happens on lake street. and during winter it becomes more difficult since you'd have to manage your way through the cold just for a meet-up. it as time went on it felt as if James street building was left out on many things. unfinished store, unmaintained gym equipment, no events, empty vending machines, no underground parking, and still paying the same prices as Lake street. I tried to like this place, I came in loving it since I really liked the modern design of the apartments but as time went on it became frustrating on how things are managed and its as if your talking to wall unless your waving your money around and it resorted me in resenting the place.
I think Regent really made the difference for me. Before I lived here, I lived in a brutal, dark and dirty apartment that was over priced and far from school. This place was like a palace compared to that apartment, and the people who work here actually care about their tenants. It's a totally different off-campus experience here.
Looked at a TON of places before settling on Regent and I can now say I found the cream of the crop. There's a lot of terrible student housing out there, but this was great.
I moved to Regent Student Housing in 2015 when I started at Brock University, and from that first day, I've never regretted my decision to live here. The building is in close proximity to all the necessities like grocery stores, shops and restaurants, plus the bus stop. Really good off-campus housing!
There are no security personnel in the evening and everyone can enter the building without permission.
I felt safe and comfortable during my 2 year stay here. Safety is one of their top priorities and it was one of mine, too, so I liked the fact that there were video cameras around the building. It made my parents feel better about me being away, too! I also found that I actually saved money living here, which was great for my budget.
A lot of broken/unmaintained facilities, the gym has machines without rubber/ grip handle bars because they got ripped up so you can cut yourself if you aren’t careful. the vending machines are usually empty and never refilled, I talked with an employee for postponing a payment and another day he came at me with eviction threats. I went to vacation and the next couple of months I came back and the apartment was filthy, bugs flying around, expired food etc, turns out my roommates decided to all leave without cleaning their stuff so I was left and forced to pay the cleaning fee.
Fantastic living experience with Regent! Their rooms are fully-furnished and not with gross old furniture but nice looking, comfortable and clean stuff. I had a problem in my room once and their maintenance people came the same day to fix it. Great service, especially for the price!
First of all they never answer the phone, second all they will charge you $14 if your key stops working and you never did anything. They said they will replace it but they just reprogram the same one. They don't even honour the contract if you ask to terminate they will not let you even though it says in the contract you are allowed. They will also tell you that your room is in James street and then say there is no room. And put you in the lake street building for same price! Even though lake street is discussing. The elevators break at least once a week so if your in a wheelchair good luck. They have a lake street building as well, you would never know that as they don't have any pictures...for good reason the rooms are discussing paint peeling. And water damage! The power also likes to randomly go out once or twice a week it seems like. RUN AWAY RUN FAR AWAY
Cheaply furnished. TV barely worked when we moved in. Our rooms were in poor condition when we moved in. Lots of broken things around the room that they dont care enough about to fix. Not to sound heartless but they are aware of a homeless man that sometimes sleeps in between the front doors. and the security is not very goood.
Regent's staff and management is a complete disaster! They will deduct money from your account twice in a month, or let months pass by without collecting the rent through their TenantPAY. They also tend to not answer phone calls, or reply to e-mails. If you request maintenance, they might take a whole week to take a look at the unit. They're not reliable AT ALL. I'm pretty sure there are other student housing options way better than this. The place is a guaranteed headache.
I won't lie the place is nice and the price is good but it is honestly stressful to live there. The management only have interest in what you have to say if they will charging you for it. Also what is the point of having a number is no one ever picks the call. Also they keep increasing the rent which is crazy. All they care about is money.
I moved in here and loved it so much I got 2 of my friends to move here too. A great space and really well priced rent. Not far from my classes and near a lot of nice places in the city. Safe too.
Amazing experience with Regent Student Living! The thing that I liked most about Regent is that their roommate matching service actually works. My roommate was a great match for me, which really made me feel better about sharing my living space. I'm more than happy to recommend Regent to other students.
Put a few dudes in a suite together and its bound to get a little messy, but Regent Res was still a great place to live when I went to Brock Uni. The res itself is set up perfectly with good common areas and private bedrooms. Ideal living situation, if you ask me.
You see these 28 other, 5 star reviews? All FAKE accounts, with 1 review. These accounts were made to pad up fake reviews for this terribly over-priced and exploitative student housing. They legitimately made over 30 fake reviews for this place, try asking the actual tenants of this place over 2016-2017. I lived here and had the worst first move-in experience ever, everything from an incomplete building, missing utilities and services, broken air conditioning in the midst of a heat wave. Gouging of students for basic services like parking and broken electronic keys (fob system). I was fortunate to have figured out I could speak to the right staff to get my keys replaced for FREE, instead of paying $60 for a lost key, when they can get replacements by the hundreds for virtually nothing. Never did they do any legitimate means of compensation, I was at least fortunate to be at the Lake st. location which was slightly ahead in terms of completion. The best they did was offer $20 gift cards, even though students legitimately suffered during their first few months there due to the horrible living conditions. (Extreme heat) The icing on top is how crappy my interactions were with the "supervisor/manager" and his honchos that he put in the front office, fresh post-graduates who maybe had policies to uphold, or just wanted to be complete jerks. The very building supervisor who heard my complaints simply reduced my interactions to miscommunication. Albeit he did show me a lot of respect when I saw him, he was just handling me to the best of his abilities. Simple damage control in the business world, never actually rectifying any of the problems I suggested. Do your self a favour and never live here. Take in how pathetic you have to be, to create over 30 fraudulent reviews to make your apartment look "reasonable". I should have written this review last year, right after I moved out. I'm glad I could have an opportunity to potentially save anyone some headaches.
I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at Regent. Such a great place and really nice staff, from the people at the desk to the maintenance people. It's also in a part of the city where you can get to most things easily. It was a great experience.
The place is comfortable. But there is water leaking sometime in the pipes, then you can’t sleep. The light of room is not bright enough for you to read books. They use chip key so being lock out is normal if you don’t be careful with the lock. I paid for 60$ per time lock out. Although there is management fee. The rent is high compared to other places.
Regent Student Living made my college years the best. I feel like I really got that true student experience but still had so many comforts that I'm sure a lot of students miss out on, like very attractive living spaces and security. My friends and I decorated our suite to add our own style but everything else was basically there already.
I chose Regent because of the location - it was central to school and my job. I also liked that I didn't feel sketched out getting home late at night. It was very convenient that I could pay a fee and it covered utlities and other stuff. Fewer things to have to worry about.
I can't imagine what it would have been like finishing up my last year at Brock and not living at Regent. Regent made my final year at school very memorable. It's a wicked place to call home for a bit.
I went to Niagara College and lived here for a year. The amenities and a good location allowed me to save time each week.
I was very excited about living here after my tour because they obviously show you the best 'face' of the building. Move in day was good but my room could have been a tad cleaner. After a couple of hiccups with move in stuff, it was a very smooth ride and a good place to live for a couple of years. I say cut them some slack in the first days, when loads of tenants are moving in, and it will get better.
When it comes to finding student housing in this city, save yourself the hassle. One visit to this place and I knew I'd love it here. Great place!
I lived here a year before leaving Brock U but it was a good spot for that time. Fair prices and nice and close without that on campus feel and rules you get with res.
Pretty much the best option for student apartments in the area, at least at that price. I visited a few other places before Regent and felt it was really good value. Life at Regent was pretty fun, sometimes a tad noisy but generally great.
My girlfriend lived here for 2 years and it was great. She really lucked out with a nice suite and a good roommates. All very respectful of each other's space. The common areas were actually nice and always fairly clean too, which I was surprised to see.
I have many wonderful memories of this place. A lot of time spent with awesome friends.
Check out Regent Students for sure. It's really nice!
This was my first apartment when I moved down here and at the time I didn't think too much about it, but now looking back this was definitely my favourite place. It's tough to think about anything to complain about (besides the limited parking and the fact that staff are occasionally there during schedule office hours). Other than that things run so smooth there; garbage is easily accessible, never had issues with the wifi, barely any partying/noise, the building was secure, the gym is great, appliances never broke, staff is friendly. If the rent wasn't so high I would have moved back in! lol
Really appreciated Mike's help with an issue I had while living here. I found the management very professional and respectful of the fact that sometimes you need stuff addressed fast. While I think your overall experience basically comes down to who your roommates are (and that's the luck of the draw unless you already know people you wanna live with), I think there is a very good chance you'll be happy while you live here.
This is the nicest student housing in the area for the price.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Regent if a Brock U student was looking for housing. Solid building with solid staff in charge.
If you have to live in St. Catharines for a bit while you're in school Regent Student Living is worth a tour. My buddies heard it was nice and not a student ghetto so we checked it out and signed up. I really came to like the area and the convenience of getting to class quickly.
Very unprofessional disorganized staff - poor experience and lack of continuity in terms of the obtaining a rental agreement for my sister. We signed the lease on Aug 7th and sent it back after Regent ‘corrected’ the multiple spelling errors (which they still didn’t correct) within the lease. At the time, they confirmed verbally that we were all set. Fast forward close to a month later, they haven’t confirmed with us the room details and are now saying that they haven’t assigned anything yet. We called numerous times and no one picked up. My sister is meant to move in today for her Freshman week at Brock but now we are scrambling to find an alternative place because Regent screwed her over. Please do better and train your staff to be more organized in handling lease agreements & dealing with clients. Or hire more staff during peak season.
I originally signed a lease here because it was within the closest proximity for getting to my part-time job, but I found there were many benefits to living at Regent. The price is very modest, I think, for what you receive.
For it being a furnished building for students, the furniture in the units is way nicer than I expected. For sure, it's got a little wear, but it's nicer than any of the stuff I would have had to furnish a place with. Staff seemed helpful, although I didn't have to deal with them much.
Regent was where I lived for 2nd year and it was really good in every way. With such a close location I did not need see the need to bring a car to school and that saved me a lot of extra money. Comparing this residence to another one is difficult because it has a lot of really positive things going for it.
Great spot. The neighbourhood is perfect for students and I've had nothing but good a response from the staff. I'm getting my money's worth.
When I initially moved into Regent (James Building) I was led to believe the management team were polite and genuine because of a few kind gestures. The following months proved otherwise. The management team became more and more distant with my roommates and myself, which eventually caused problems when my unit started having maintenance issues. Multiple work orders were sent out which ideally would have been followed up, but unfortunately resulted in minimal regard from all Regent staff. Even after I had confronted the management staff (Mike & Mitch) personally, it seemed as though any concern of mine was completed ignored or pushed onto someone else. I am still shocked at the lack of organization and communication between those people who were supposedly sent to fix our unit and the members of management who's jobs are to aid the students living in the Regent buildings. A brief list of issues include incorrect installation of appliances in the bathroom and around the unit, as well as non-functional heating during the frigid winter months... These issues were poorly addressed and barely resolved even after numerous requests and complaints to management to come in and fix these problems. I was thoroughly disappointed with the way this team handled these simple issues, eventually causing an array of complications and disappointment with my over all experience living at this residence. Unfortunately, these outstanding issues took away from the few positives this place had to offer. I would describe my time here as a complete and utter disappointment from what I initially expected this living experience to be. I would not advise those who currently live or plan on living here to take the management team very seriously... interaction with these individuals is equivalent to communicating with a pair of incompetent monkeys.
Regent was better than I could have ever imagined it would be. I was so so home sick when I first left for NC, but Regent made me feel so welcome. I made excellent friends and had the time of my life while living here.
Regent Student Living has really sweet apartments for students. In my experience, it's a major bonus if you find a place that looks nice and is comfy when you're going to uni.
This isn't your average student housing, no question about it. Much better equipped than any other furnished places I've seen and managed by a helpful team of people. I felt good about coming back to my apartment here, because it was so comfortable and nice. I'd recommend it for anyone going to school in St. Catharines.
Not what you would expect from a student residence - SO much better!
Maintenance is good, have not been a fan of the management in the past
Regent is awesome! There's nothing I can really complain about. It was a good place to live.
If I had to describe Regent Student Living, I'd say it's upper crust student housing. Surprisingly, however, it doesn't cost a lot. It looks very nice, and while some of the common areas can sometimes get a little dirty, it's obvious that maintaining the building is a priority for the people who work here.
Wouldn't have lived anywhere else while at Niagara College. Safe and affordable.
Cool digs that are close to campus.
Worth every cent, in my experience, even if you're sharing some living spaces. Private bedrooms and access to a variety of onsite facilities make it very worthwhile.
I just squeaked in here before my last year of school was about to start and it ended up being my best year yet. Made lots of memories. Even managed to save some money because you get quite a bit for your rent. A nice change for a student.
Anyone that moans and groans about Regent should try living in some of the other apartments around town. I am happy, no relieved, in fact, that I left my apartment when I did and got in at Regent. The fact that they have maintenance people is reason enough to sign up. The great price puts students at a big advantage also.
The building may not be as 'polished' and perfect as it looks online, but it's still a great residence. The 'extras', like the gym, and the washer and dryer in your own apartment are awesome. If you've ever hauled your stuff to a laundromat, you know that the simple things matter the most, especially when you're going to school and working. I liked it here.
