**Addition to post below, as of August 8th/18, in response to P4S reply to my review...
Dear P4S, I made a point of stating in my review below, that I do not want a reply from you to my post and stated why. So it is very frustrating that you are not listening. On top of that, you have given me the same information in this reply as through our previous conversations through your customer service centre on the issues I described below. I hear your explanation and your apology; but I don't care for them at this stage, also, it's repetitive to how you addressed me during our email communications. It seems as though your reply below is only to appear to other viewers as doing your due-diligence. But is insincere. Is too bad.
*I do not wish to receive a response from P4S. I had my concerns individually addressed through previous communication with you; no need for further. Thank you.
1) In previous years study (prior to this year), when I would search rental listings on P4S, I would look up my institute (college), and then select campus location. Almost all ads would be for nearby locations to the campus; within a reasonable distance' radius. However now, I look up my campus, and it brings up rentals for other locations - other campuses. Most of them are very far away, in a different region. I have found this for over 80% of the listings for my school. It's been a waste of time to log in to find out the new ad you've been notified about is again not in location to your needed campus! P4S assured me this will not change back to the way it was. I know it's not just me, though, as having been in touch with other students while searching for roommates, it was mentioned that they're experiencing the same issue. It's too bad really.
2) Many of the listings I've contacted have been rented already. Some have been on there months past the fact, but have not been taken down by owners, or updated to say "rented". Not that this is a P4S issue though.
3) The biggest has been discrimination from landlords to that of being a mature student. I have been told flat out by many that they are looking only to rent to college students right out of high school. From a couple of the places I've seen/contacted, I can only assume this is possibly because they're assuming younger students are naive??. I say this because 3 of the places I've looked at through P4S ads - private, self-contained units - (without me mentioning anything but landlord offering the details up front) pointed out how they do things a little "differently" than the law says they have to, and so they look for students only to rent to :/. When I inquired as to what they were referring to, at one place that meant they "take the locks off the doors that separates entrances" so there wouldn't been any privacy or security; another said there's no real fire exit in case of emergency - I didn't visit that one; and another, that they smoke and sell marijuana occasionally, but that this should be "legal" soon anyway. Sheesh
**I have to mention, prior to this year, I was fortunate and found a very good, honorable landlord through this site :), so not all are like above. And I'm sure there are other good landlords that don't intend to take advantage. That being said, other students, please be aware/mindful when looking...especially if you don't have advise from someone with experience! :)
