The first moment I walked into my dorm room I started to cry... It looked like a jail cell to me. They're so small and as I was staying on the tenth floor is was extremely hot. My room mate and I couldn't stand it. It smells like sweat and and random things cooking/burning , no one should be cooking things in their dorm room! There is a kitchen for a reason!!! As well as the doorm rooms being gross, so was the food. The people working were incredibly rude and so was the manager, they yelled at our group and blocked us PHYSICALLY from entering certain parts of the cafeteria when the rest of our group was sitting in the other part. Also, the manager came up to us after we went to get water and starting yelling at us. This two week experience has affected my desire of applying to Laval , and nor will my room mate or I be coming to this school ever again.

Not to mention the PUB, the modern computer sales and proximity to the historic city center of Quebec. Finally, I had a hard time, even very hard because this university is not easy, but I succeeded and I'm proud of it (I do not think, for visiting other universities elsewhere in Canada, United States, Europe that this campus is anything to envy to others). (Original) Premièrement, je vois souvent dans les commentaires négatifs envers l'Université Laval des gens qui selon moi ne se sont pas bien adaptés aux mesures et cadre d'enseignement de l'université. Les professeurs que j'ai eu ont tous été excellents ( les femmes comme les hommes) à part seulement une qui a manqué de «classe» envers moi. Cependant , j'ai eu en général une très belle formation et un haut niveau de satisfaction envers cette université. De plus, je trouve le campus agréable (beaucoup d'arbres et de parcs) même si c'est vrai qu'il pourrait avoir moins de béton ( plus de verdure sur les pavillons). Bref, c'est une université canadienne-française exceptionnelle qu'il ne faut pas négliger quand vient le temps de choisir où l'on veut terminer son parcours académique; avec le Super-Peps ( deux piscines olympiques,un dôme pour la course à pied,un stade de soccer, 3 salles de conditionnement physique, le Rouge et Or ,etc). Sans oublier le PUB , la modernité des sales d'informatique et la proximité avec le centre ville historique de Québec. Pour terminer, j'ai bûché fort,même très fort car cette université n'est pas facile,mais j'ai réussi et j'en suis fier ( je ne crois pas, pour avoir visiter d'autres universités ailleurs au Canada,aux États-Unis,en Europe que ce campus est quoi que se soit à envier aux autres) . Law faculty very poor. Not outstanding and definitely, not the best of northamerica. Intimidation and harassment need to be fought by a truly competent Dean or ViceDean (*** up Veronique Guevremont and Charles Emmanuel Côté, so incompetent and ignorant people, unable to do their job fairly and humbly) and by the corresponding harassement office or discipline committe that actually , seem to protect professors (Eve Chabot Petitgrew, discipline commissioner, is a danger for the mental health of students) rather than harassement victims. There are plenty of them but only to make you education fee bigger. Poor and lazy Ph D directors like Richard Ouellet. No scientific guidance nor quality academic life. Go to true Canadian Universities. Search true Canadian quality education. Dont waste your money on second class Universities that pretend to be what they are not.

I was at Laval for a month during the summer for the FLE program. It's a great university with great facilities. The Athletic centre is one of the nicest buildings on campus, with many new facilities. There is also a really nice, well kept home field. The campus also has a lot of wooded areas with paths, and huge grassy areas with trees for shade. It's a really nice campus, although Saint Foy is kind of isolated and there isn't much to do unless you go into the old city.

I've noticed major contradictions between their disciplinary regulation guide and some of the courses outlines that defines plagiarism. Serious alignment has to be done in that sense. In addition, in my opinion, student rights are yet very far from being implemented as their guideline gives authority to staff and not to seperate judgment entity. Way to go laval university.
