Background late 80's, as a mid-life professional in career transition pursuing university at-a-distance courses and applied clinical training opportunities to learn the art of hypnotherapy skill sets, specifically Eriksonian techniques, did not exist. I was fortunate indeed to meet, register and be trained by Sheldon Bilsker, a master hypnotherapist, who remains devoted to the promotion, development and advancement of clinical counselling hypnotherapist training and certification requirements. We are fortunate Sheldon Bilsker and the Orca Institute is located in Canada with a global interest and outreach on an international scale providing opportunity for students pursuing clinical counselling hypnotherapy course materials and skill sets. I found the training to be extremely current, covered a wide variety of subjects related to hypnotherapy and was a lot of fun. I have been practising for over 16 years and still love my work. I chose The Orca Institute because it is important that a hypnotherapist have basic counseling training in addition to very high quality hypnosis training. The Orca Institute is the only hypnosis program I have ever found in the entire world that recognizes the reality of working with real people. In my program I'm taught how to create and manage a session involving trance work, not made dependent on reading other hypnotist's scripts. More than knowing what to do-I am taught why so that I can easily build my own sessions as a counselling hypnotherapist from the ground up. I am proud and very confident of my training because it is taught and managed by registered and trained counselors and hypnotherapists who do this work outside of only teaching it. I am training with people who care about their students, their clients, and about the field of hypnotherapy overall. That matters to me as a practitioner.

I had been looking counselling training program that offered some specific tools to really transform people's lives. After a lot of research, found the counselling hypnotherapy program at the Orca Institute to be the treasure I had been looking for. The program Director Sheldon Bilsker and online conferencing instructor Diane Auld have been very supportive instructors in my journey, the program manual is a great learning resource and the videos are a great way to learn how to put it into practice. As I work 'in practice' with other students and initial clients I have found the collaborative nature of hypnotherapy to be very empowering and not only is helping the people I am working with but is helping me with my own personal growth and healing. Why did I choose to study with Orca Institute? It was a dream come true for me. I longed since late 1990's to add hypnotherapy to my tool chest of skills. I was not satisfied with the many programs I investigated over the years. I was interested in learning how to facilitate and support my client's healing in a manner that was deeply client-centered and specific to their needs. After bachelor's studies, I worked a social service worker and desired to learn a deep intuitively informed manner of working with clients. I went on to a master's program in clinical psychology with an emphasis in family psychology. I learned about Carl Rogers, Virginia Satyr, and Milton Erickson. This helped in developing a more intuitive skill base to work with families. Yet, it did not seem complete. How do I apply deep empathy and a deeply intuitive sense of knowing in helping my clients? Spiritually I was getting images in my mind of what my clients experience. How do I use this intuition in serving my clients? After graduation, I served as a senior family specialist working with families struggling with abuse and addictions. It was here that I learned that a deep spiritual component, a deep knowledge is important to pay attention to while working with clients. I began to look, where can I learn these skills at a deeper level. I set out with driven intent reviewing all the schools I could find. which one will teach me the skills I desired? I found what I was looking for at Orca Institute, signed up for the Complete Diploma program. Orca has opened a new personal awareness, taught me the clinical hypnotherapy counseling skills I desired and taught me how to use my deep intuitive awareness and response with deep empathy while working with my clients. I am well pleased with Orca Institute and plan to nature a continued relationship with gratitude throughout the remaining years of my career. Thank you staff of Orca Institute. I just completed the Counselling skills program with Orca and all my expectations were greatly exceeded. I was most impressed with the quality of the material presented in the course. It was current and relevant to the practice of counselling. My supervisor, Diane Auld, was a delight to work with. She was knowledgable of all things counselling and anything to do with the Orca Institute. There were some minor glitches in the information that needed to be ironed out due to this being a new program but Diane was helpful in this regard. My contact with Sheldon Bilsker was friendly, helpful and professional. I found the website to be user friendly. All in all, I feel I received an excellent education through the Orca Institute and would recommend it to anyone thinking of furthering their career in the counselling profession.
