Always under road construction! but a great campus with friendly professors. I liked the atmosphere and I enjoyed studying there.

Bad

Boo

High quality and friendly environment

Good place to ride your bike through.

No.1 University in Manitoba University surrounding areas are beautifully designed and maintained

Lots of places to study

Needs upkeep

This is my first year here at the University of Manitoba, and I must say that I am not very satisfied with the education system here. Out of eight courses that I've taken so far, only two of them did not have exam-based testing, with the rest of the courses, including the ones I am taking now for psychology, are all based on standardized timed exams, I found my learning here to be superficial, and not genuine, I found myself only trying to memorize all of the many specific facts of the assigned lectures and textbook material just to get a good grade on the exams and then forget about everything that I have memorized, this goes for open book exams too, as I don't have time to search through my notes for every single answer. I am very stressed, and anxious about my experience here, because of the exams. Exams have been taking a heavy toll on my mental health, and have left me dealing with intense migraines, they impose pressure and drain me of my energy, getting me to think about nothing except of the grade I will receive, forcing me to study for hours, and leaving in me no interest to learn. Not only exams are very difficult to prepare for, some of the professors do not specify what exactly must we learn for the exams, and instead say things like: "This could be on the exam." Or "Everything can be testable." e.g. Studying 5-7 assigned pages worth of material only for a 35-question exam (notes made according to the assigned material can take up 20-30 pages to re-read and study, since I don't know what exactly is and what's not on the exam, and end up studying everything out of worry). In addition, some professors even choose to put trick questions on exams, or "choose the best answer" types of questions, which are confusing to me at times. Furthermore, I find myself trying to answer questions as quickly as possible before the time limit runs out, how can I have time to think, if all that exams expect from me is to have every answer memorized at the top of my head, and quickly answer questions? (Especially if some questions are quite wordy). All I am seeing from these exams is ambiguity, uncertainty, pressure with time limit, and heavy stress with studying. I want to ask of you to please omit the exams, especially for psychology, and replace them with writing-based assignments that give me freedom, and many different choices on what topics to write about that correlate to the subject matter, assignments that give opportunity for me to truly learn the material, to have interest in learning, and apply my critical thinking, my knowledge, proposals, and ideas onto the assignments. In addition, assignments allow me to stretch them out for a fair amount of time. I find writing-based assignments to truly test my thinking, and allow me to apply my knowledge, in addition, allowing me to engage in the learning itself. Because it's such a shame that while I'm still naturally learning some interesting material from the textbooks, it all goes to waste when I know that all I am really doing is forcefully trying to cram lots of information and preparing myself for a standardized exam, which is why I don't have enjoyment when reading; it is always forced, with the desire to finish chapters as quickly as possible just to not miss anything when taking notes. There can be so much more potential for me to learn and distribute that knowledge in a genuine way, that will allow me to write at a meaningful and non-rushed pace about what I learned, by introducing writing assignments instead of exams.

Cheap tuition.

Its one of the best universities in Canada with more than 3000 students , more than 10 falcultues that offer numerous courses..its is located in the heart of Winnipeg and its is very competitive but affordable ...U of M as it popularly called is a beautiful place to study with more than 5 difference libraries within the school ..its achetectural work is splendid and it is has beautiful edifices

During the covid 19 pandemic our classes switched to remote learning and they raised our tuition. Two strikes disrupted classes for over four weeks in total during my time here. I would recommend going to a different university or college if you have the option. If I could go back in time I would go to CMU instead.

Cant find any better

hurt my brain just a tad

Fantastic university, great profs and great people! Highly recommend it

Probably the worst university administration in Canada. They raised tuition fee while everyone was studying remotely. During the strike, the quality of education fell below the ground. Moreover, the university administration has blocked access to online educational materials! Perhaps even a CDI college provides a better education than the University of Manitoba. Very sad

Good

A great education and experience.

Worst school in the country, they are the definition of mediocre and give their students no reason to be proud they are attending U of M. If you are currently a High School student in Manitoba please take a moment to look at out of province options, it'll be the best decision you make.

nice

Great university. Wonderful community to be a part of.

It is the largest university both by total student enrollment and campus area in the province of Manitoba, and the 17th-largest in all of Canada. The campus boasts dozens of faculties including the first medical school in Western Canada, and hundreds of degree programs. In addition to its main campuses, the university also operates a French-language affiliate, Université de Saint-Boniface in the Saint Boniface ward of Winnipeg. UM is a member of the U15 and of Universities Canada while its global affiliations include the International Association of Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Its increased global outreach has resulted in one of the most internationally diverse student bodies in Canada, while its competitive academic and research programs have consistently ranked among the top in the Canadian Prairies. The Manitoba Bisons represent the team in athletics as a member of U Sports and Canada West (CWUAA). As of 2018, there have been 98 Rhodes Scholars from the University of Manitoba, more than from any other university in Western Canada.[7][8] The university's alumni include recipients of the Nobel Prize, the Academy Award, the Order of Merit, and Olympic medalists, among many others. The university has produced countless government figures, including Premiers of Manitoba, Supreme Court of Canada justices, and Members of Parliament. Research at UM has produced countless contributions, including the creation of Canola oil in the 1970s.

One of the best learning institutions in the country

Clean well maintained area, I was just at the gym for sports thing. It all went smooth. Staff was polite and courteous.

The largest University in the a province.

Nice place with great venues and attractions

The tunnels are very helpful especially on a cold winter day to get between classes and the buses frequent the area regularly so you're not waiting very long.

Good university with great people. Although I haven't been to other universities, I enjoyed it here.

A great experience. The instructors and staff are fantastic. I truly recommend this University for it's Social Work Program. You will be happy that you made U of M your choice.

This University for all kind of student.

my experience at this place has left me neutral. Not the experience I had hoped for at a place of higher learning .

It's my first time experience in a university/college. But still all the support that were given to students during covid was something unexpected. Keep it up UofM!

I study here. Best place ever.

I hope to get starting study in university of manitoba

Amazing place! very friendly people, and a great place to study! U of M ALL THE WAY

craziest place to study

Great place for all your book needs. Also has cool gadgets and unique gift ideas. I did not love their arrow pathing. Many aisles went the same direction so you were not able to go up and down. Still nice to have obvious safety protocols in place.

I love U of M!

Awesome place!

My one friend is studying here. I am also wanting to do my study. It is really a beautiful place for getting proper education.

Oh, then I come across this.

Great university. Lots of interesting programs offered as well as scholarships. Amazing professors and nice staff.

Very quiet on campus

University of Manitoba is very awesome beautiful beautiful picturesque views great people wonderful wonderful facilities lots of parking also if you're interested in going to school at University of Manitoba I highly recommend you stop looking and just apply register and get down there today the place is immaculate

Pakistan International School 2.0

The buildings, monuments and parks around the University of Manitoba look really gorgeous. Make sure to take a walk around this place for about one hour when you come to visit Winnipeg.

Amazing campus

Love my Uni!!! More than 5 stars!!

1 or maybe even 0 stars... My experience was really bad: racist teachers who blackmailed and offended my person, really bad system and organization. I thought it was of the best university but actually is just one of the worst

Can't wait to join U of M ! :)

I love anything and everything about university of Manitoba ????????????????

Studied at this place. All good memories attached to the place.

When I started attending here in 2003, MacLeans rated it the worst university in its category in Canada. After taking a BSc and working here for eleven years, I can readily appreciate their point-of-view. Like any university, it has its upsides and when I was young, the positive was all that I wanted to focus on. But after swimming in the deep-end, I could see how horrid it all really was.

Pretty cool school. Lovely to see and have lots of things.

Excellent University

Huge building

Great University!

A well crafted campus, with a handful of bittersweet memories.

Studying at U of M was the most precious thing in my life. I truly love the environment and the people I met.

Beautiful during autumn and summer

They had an awesome university open house

Due to construction and road closures around campus lots of extra walking and driving around. Bookstore had books we were looking for so that was good!

Great place to live and study. Great profs and labs are very good. Love the experience

Due to cov19 it's very silent

Good

The U of M is a great community once you spend some time here!

Excellent, mindblowing, huge huge fan of environment provided as well as the facilities, I would like to study over there .

It is a great faculty with amazing resources, beautiful surrounding, peaceful study spots, remarkable staff and wonderful friendly people!

If you like to study, do your reserches in a winter wonderland, then this is the perfect place.

Comparing this school to U of W is like that meme "you vs. the man she told you not to worry about"

Nice college. Nice atmosphere

Great Organization serving students and the community.

Great game ????

It's a great place to be

there is no journalism program to choose for students who want to study, other things are fine though...

Largest University in Manitoba.

Great

We went to get test kits

am recent applying for my Master's program there, hopefully i look forward to experience all the nature can present in the University. please feel free to comment if you have any advice. thank you.

Amazing university to study the course of your dream

Would have been excellent if the library was open all night long!

go bisons!

If you're interested in Social Work, do yourself a favor and stay away from this school and its faculty. Some of the professors are unprofessional and on major power trips. The appeal process is a joke. If it is possible do not attend this place.

(Translated) Spectacular!!!! They have all the races !!! (Original) Espectacular!!!! Tienen todas las carreras!!!

My college

Top notch!

Study, fitness,fun everything

Best University

Beautiful university, quality education. Constantly improving

I go to school here so its pretty dope

It is good spot to visit. Also a good place to study

Nice place to study

Great staff and facilities

Went to the bomber game and the lines for food and drink were crazy long wait times.

One of best university in the city, though not many options. Pursuing an actuarial degree, it's a hidden gem of the country.

Wonderful environment ,highly recommended

Nice

I have searched many universities but University of Manitoba is best university, I wish to get admission in this University, I will be very lucky if I get admission in this University,

I love MY campus!

Beautiful campus, amazing profs and a great place to study!

superr unifersitiy manitoba

Returning to the university now as a mature student, I’ve been surprised and disappointed by the lack of maintenance and upkeep of certain facilities. Also disappointed by the policies of the Asper faculty, in particular, which effectively block access for Extended Education students to courses required for admission to the CPA program. Still, quality of professors has been very good—friendly, knowledgeable, and interested in students’ success.

Staff awesome.Patient helpful.Wonderful facility.

Parking services

Completed an undergraduate in Nursing and a Masters in Public Administration at this facility. Quality staff and Programs

I hope to study there very soon

U of M is the best. Profs treat you like equals and want you to succeed. Adequate places to study and go for a bite between classes. Plenty of security and police frequenting, so anyone who causes you or your classmate discomfort won't live to tell about it. When applying for student housing at Pembina Hall, whatever you do try to get a river-facing dorm for the beautiful view.

Beautiful campus. Lots of options to eat and learn.

Most professors are fantastic and the few that are not great at teaching are still kind and compassionate individuals that want you to succeed

They seem more concerned with how much money they can drain from the students than on the education. I contacted the university asking about masters degree, they told me I had to pay and pass a very expensive test, I payed and passed the test only to have them say they couldn't admit me because my grades at my bachelor degree weren't good enough, they could have told me that in the first place and save my money and time but then they wouldn't have taken my money for free. I regret not saying this at the time but this is obviously a scam.

Good university

Great school and equally a good environment for learning and sport activities.

Great time walking around as a visitor. Super cold from the blizzard. They should've built some connections underground above ground like many other universities I've been to. Besides that it was gorgeous. Go Bisons!

It was great. The staff there are very helpful.

Just loved it

Well it's a garbage school, but pretty much the only option now that U of W has gone full social justice with their Aboriginal requirement. At least the tuition is cheap.

A great school in a friendly city.

It's a good school,it's safe and a good environment for learning

Amazing... I will love my son to study in such a wonderful Institution , And Kudos to all in the Management and Faculty System Well done

Wonderful campus.

I love it at IG

Am gonna come in September

Beautiful campus however, the U of M is not very user friendly. If you need support, your call will be transferred many times and you are unlikely to get someone who is willing to actually help you solve your inquiries.

My cousin somto okonkwo was the best in electrical and electronics engineering around 2003/2004.

Its awesome

Great atmosphere, great staff, great gym

Amazing University

The new music building (Taché Arts Project) is beautiful and has a good infrastructure, with plenty of practice rooms and great offices for the Faculty. It will be even better when the the phases 2 and 3 are ready and we have a large ensemble rehearsing room and our own auditory next to the building.

Attempted twice to obtain a degree from this institution. Disappointed both times by some of the attitudes from profs & directors. Essentially if you need extra assistance you are the problem, only, you’re not their problem. Further more, SAS is a joke. Not offering me any feasible options to help accommodate my needs which are well reasonable and NOT a modification from the curriculum. Just another business interested in your money, not you as an individual. Would not recommend!

The only university where engineering student need to study anthropology and indigenous people, ridiculous. A few profs doesn't even want to take their responsibilities in teaching, not preparing lectures and even stealing slides and homework from their colleagues. Raising tuition fee while everyone is studying remotely. Oh, our staffs are on strike? Don't even want your money back and they will lock down your access to the online study materials!

There is no effort in making the learning experience better for their students. I was told why should I care when I asked about what was happening with the study areas.

GREAT campus for sporting events of all kinds!

Although I've not been there from the looks it is a wonderful place

The course selection in certain programs is absolutely pitiful, but I’ve never had a prof I didn’t like.

Friendly and structured.

The cosiest and friendliest of all major Canadian universities

Best institute for research in High Volatge Engineering. Worked on a summer research project here under Prof. Shaahin Filizadeh.

great place for learning

Great place! All COVID-19 MEASURES are undertaken.

I hope to study in it
