With a program built for online-learning, CanScribe has set a starting point that can be used to learn & hone skills in Medical Transcription. Although course materials and learning styles are updated regularly, they aren't necessarily up to date, focusing on rote memorization and individual research. The practice transcriptions are helpful, but it's important to have a good basis in medical terminology prior to the program as words are often used in transcriptions long before being introduced in the course. Overall a tough, but relatively fair program .

I started my MT - HDMS course just over a month ago and so far have been delighted with the course as well as the support and feedback that I have received from the instructors. The course is interesting, challenging - makes me stretch myself - but I look forward to sitting down at my computer every day, anticipating each new segment and each new task. Of course you have to be very disciplined when undertaking a program such as this which is taught purely online, but it's great to be able to study at your own pace and fit it into your own schedule. We all lead very busy lives but I for one know that I can pick up my exercises at any time; in the middle of the night, or early in the morning - whenever I want to and wherever I might be. I never feel isolated or alone because I know that I can take part in webinars, or participate in the forums, or chat to instructors whenever I feel it necessary. It's a great course and I highly recommend it.

I didn't actually attend CanScribe Career College physically, but took the online transcription course instead, but I am sure that there would have been no difference whether I actually attended classes physically or whether I did everything online, as I found that during the year that it took for me to finish the course, I found CanScribe to be exactly what I had been told , which was CanScribe was the best out there as far as transcribing courses went. I had every resource I needed at my fingertips thanks to quick delivery of everything I needed, including my foot pedal. I had the CanScribe forums to assist me with connecting with other students taking the course, and if I had any questions about what I was doing, I just had to send out an email, and I would have my answer immediately. I had no problem getting a job right after graduating, and to this day, I still love what I am doing! Thanks CanScribe.

I am about a month into the MT/HDS program and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. Although I was hesitant to take the program. at first, simply because of online/distant learning, the instructor support and course material were very informative and helpful. Their prompt response to my inquiries and weekly checkups erased any doubts I initially had about taking the program. The staff are there to make sure you succeed, checking up on your progress every week, providing feedback, and giving continuing words of support. As a full-time worker, CanScribe is very flexible on the pacing of the program. Although they give 1 year (3 hours per day) to complete the program, I find myself immersed and doing much, much more than the minimum required, not because I am eager to complete the program, but because I am enjoying the program. From the basics of transcribing, to gaining the knowledge of basic medical terminology, CanScribe gives you access to all the necessary tools and material to mold you into a successful MT. If you are looking to take a program in Medical Transcription/Healthcare Document Specialist, without a doubt, CanScribe would be my 1st recommendation. Kudos CanScribe!

Amazing school to take part in! The Medical Transcription course is a short 1-year program. You have the ability to purchase extensions (which do seem costly), but are well worth it if you need to take time off and fall behind in your online course. I would highly recommend the Administrative Assistant/ Virtual Assistant program through Canscribe. I discovered the program when I was looking to upgrade my Microsoft Office skills after being a Stay-At-Home Mom for 10 years. I’ve been in the CanScribe MT/HDS course for a month now, and I am absolutely loving it! OK, maybe the grammar and punctuation parts weren’t so exciting, but now that I’m into medical terminology, it is very interesting. The course provides a dictionary which pronounces each term so I can correctly learn how to say glomerulonephritis (and more importantly hear and then transcribe it if and when a doctor dictates it). Start up of the course went extremely smooth with setting up several online accounts and downloading e-books and such. Even installing the foot pedal for dictations was simple. The structure is very organized and builds on previously learned concepts and information. Quizzes, chapter tests, and dictations are all opportunities to learn. I aim for the highest mark possible, of course. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable and gracious in helping those who are learning. Best of all they work in the industry themselves. Every Friday there is a Q & A webinar when I learn from other students and the instructor’s answers. I have also learned a great deal from listening to past webinars going back to 2015. The decision to go with CanScribe as an MT/HDS course provider was easy for me because of its practicum and being Canadian and accredited. The staff has great customer service and do everything they can to help you succeed. Even though the course doesn’t show you blood, guts and gore, it isn’t for the faint of heart. I know there are tough chapters just around the corner. But I can do this!

I came across CanScribe’s website while I was enrolled in a local college taking a Medical Transcription course they offered. Despite having half my credits complete with the local college, I felt as though I was not learning much to help contribute to my future goals to become a certified medical transcriptionist. I became keenly interested that CanScribe’s programs are AHDI accredited, unlike the course I was taking through my local college. After looking into CanScribe’s excellent reviews, testimonials, and speaking with the staff, I found myself dropping out of my local college and enrolling CanScribe’s Medical Transcription/Healthcare Documentation course within a matter of weeks. CanScribe’s course structure and curriculum itself is easy to follow and is an equal and appropriate balance of both knowledge and challenge. Unlike local colleges, CanScribe’s curriculum actually prepares you entirely for a job as a medical transcriptionist and does not include unnecessary mandatory courses that other colleges require you to take. CanScribe’s staff always worked with me throughout all life’s ups-and-downs during the entire time I was enrolled. I always appreciated the follow-up phone calls and emails, often just to check in and say hi, and to answer any questions or concerns regarding the course. I worked a full-time job while I was enrolled, and was often was often difficult to get ahold of due to inconsistent shifts, but the instructors never gave up on me. The practicum at the end of the course was like the icing on a cake; it was such a positive experience. I was paired with Andrea who provided 1-on-1 instruction and gave me such a boost in confidence that I still carry with me today. Within a few weeks of graduating, and after only sending out a handful of job applications, I accepted a job working from home as a remote medical transcriptionist with a nearby Radiology Clinic. This job was exactly what I was hoping for! My new employers have expressed how pleased they are with my knowledge and abilities considering that I am a new graduate. I would not be where I am today without CanScribe, their course, their staff, and most certainly their care and compassion. I implore anyone who is seeking a Medical Transcription/Health Documentation course to look no further.

CanScribe offers a challenging but rewarding medical transcription program. The instructors were always promp in answering my questions, and I never felt that I was bothering them during the most difficult parts of the course. I was able to ask questions and receive timely responses, usually in less than 24 hours unless it was on a weekend. CanScribe's course platform is user friendly with screen reading and screen magnification software, making it an excellent choice for someone with a vision impairment to either start a career or begin a new one. I found the practicum portion of the program to be valuable too. When I started working, my new job wasn't as stressful because I had some idea of what to expect. While many people don't want to be in school any longer than they have to, the extra month that it takes to do the practicum is worth it in the longrun.

The Canscribe course was very thorough and well run. I learned a lot about punctuation, grammar and editing. The only downside is when you start working the MT companies count on women who want to be able to be at home with their kids and are willing to forgo a living wage to do so. I did MT work for about a year then retrained and am now working less hours and making more than double what I was doing MT work. I was fast at it and maintained my 98% accuracy rating, but still wasn't making enough to survive. Thankfully a lot of the skills I learned at Canscribe help me in my new career.
