This College is included in the category of Community college.
It's a great collage
Seems like a pretty nice campus.
The veterans affairs office is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. If you’re a veteran and want to use your GI Bill, Steve is the man to talk to. I randomly decided to start going to school about a week before the semester started and Steve bent over backwards to help me get situated.
This college is so great, the diversity and size of the campus is so amazing, teachers are chill and lenient. Students are kind and mature, 10/10 recommend. I ALSO attend.
Great school and im from cali and i will be attending onondaga in 2 years cant wait
Good school. Great programs and good teachers.
Not a bad college, and most professors were nice. That said, some were tooooo political! I’m neither political party, but too much race stuff some of these professors talk about. …
I graduated in 2016 and have been in my career since. I commuted from Camillus. The college is what you make it. Work hard, you will be successful. If you treat this like Highschool 2.0, you will fail. I've seen many friends fail out because of their lack of direction / work ethic. OCC ,for me, was the best, most sensible choice I could have made. I graduated with no debt and a lot of my friends who went to 4 year schools, can't say that. The scheduling can be flexible, I was a full time student but was only on Campus 2 days a week (yes they were long days). Though, this allowed me to work a full time job while I attended school. Like I said, it is what you make it, put in the work, you will get rewarded. Out of all the professors I had, only about 2 seemed like they didn't care much about their job, but that says more about them than OCC as a whole.
nothing but extremely negative experiences time and time again with this school. Whenever I speak to someone who expresses any interest in this school I highly advise against it. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was always difficult and stressful due to the lack of concern/effort from staff/faculty. I recall so many specific occasions where I'd have a sincere concern and was told by staff "its not my problem." Also, i recall many times when I'd email faculty about a question or problem with coursework and NEVER get a response back. Eventually, I realized that the lack of concern from faculty was mostly derived from the attitude and behavior from students that attend that school. Id estimate 90% of their students could care less about education. Most are there only (barely) attending for the free aid then drop out after several weeks -if that. They are very loud, lazy, ghetto and come from extremely low-income families. The faculty treat them like a lower class of society, making zero effort to educate which in turn effects those of us who are ACTUALLY TRYIING. There are obviously many more negative memories that I don't even want to waste another second of my life typing this but I want people to know to BEWARE OF THE DISAPPOINTMENT THEY ARE ABOUT TO FACE. Trust me, its not worth the headache. Go to a real college where ppl will actually want to help you succeed in your future
As a student at this school I’ve noticed there is no supervision at all. I’ve also noticed people that are loud obnoxious and ghetto. That come from Syracuse aren’t even students come too Gordon too hang out and wait for the ymca open. Me …
Love my school
The very best collegiate institution in the world. Everything about this place was life changing for the better. The class size the professors the student activities. I graduated in 2017 with my 2-year degree and if there was a four-year …
The college has done a tremendous job at keeping students, staff, and visitors safe during these tough times. I believe OCC has set the "gold standard" in regards to proper precautions amid the pandemic.
Love the school. The athletic facilities are incredible. Really focus on getting students to their next level of education!
2017 alumni. This place is a good school make lots of connections with people and the professors care. The only problem is the dorm lifestyle here your better off living off campus if you cant dorm with people you know .
This school does nothing about other students bothering you during lecture. When you're trying to focus and drop-outs are just wasting their financial aid, you have to deal with it.
A joke
I love this place
The school is one of the newest most nicest campus I've been on, everything is brand new and clean, but the staff is terrible, theres no freedom if you live in the dorms as if your a child, the cafe food is like prison portions the way they hound u in there, they lack campus life or anything we want to do basically. This school is great if you have a car because you don't have to live with the cafe being closed at 730,the book store also being closed as well, the condoments always running out, and just the lack of diversity with the food options and the portions we get. They need to do something the students want instead of what they want all the time, give us a recommendation box or something ????
I enjoyed my education here with excellent professors. This was in 2006.
I sat in a parking lot while kids mother got tested for covid-19 antibodies.
The professors are great. It’s the faculty employees who are ruining the college. They are unprofessional, rude and defensive. They have no clue what they are doing. Not accommodating for counseling. Leadership is horrible. From the bookstore, the tuition department, the advisors and boarding. Need lots of improvement.
Great school
Great Lacrosse !! That's all it matters!!!
About to attend for fall and am so disappointed. they are so ridiculously incompetent and unorganized. You get minimal direction on all the steps really needed to complete registration. you get everything done just to find out all these other papers and steps they need you to complete once its already time for classes to start. No one reaches out to you at any point to assist you, you basically have to self-teach yourself how to registers for classes and find someone to tell you what youre missing. I submitted my fafsa and waited and waited to hear something and had to call 3x before someone could tell me i needed to submit my immunizations. i have my doctor fax my immunizations TWO times and called the student central office numerous times and some seriously incompetent terrible disgusting woman who acted like I was annoying her my even calling the office to check if they received it first told me :many were received" and i had to literally tell her to go check if mine was received like that wasn't common sense and then told me it wasn't i had it resent she picked up again and then forwarded me to someones voicemail i called back AGAIN and she apparently 'checked' and told me they received it. this was almost two weeks ago only for me to find out my immunizations were never processed! my only regret is i didn't get her name and file a complaint with the administration. Worst most unprofessional and unorganized school i have ever seen. DO NOT GO HERE
good school but online classes are... ok... some online teacher are very good and always respond when you email them. Others don't reply and leave you hanging. I was struggling with some math and I emailed my teacher saying"im having trouble understanding the chapter 7 assignment. is there a reference or something i can do to help understand. " The teacher did not reply for over 10 hours.
Staff are amazing, security is always helpful and the atmosphere is overall amazing and welcoming to all.
One of, if not, the best Educational Experiences of my life. Prepared me for opening a Business of my own. I am a Graduate in Mathematics and Science, well prepared by OCCs diverse class offerings. If you are occupied during the day, there are excellent classes at night. "Best Bang for the Buck".
TWO semesters of persistent internet outages, making on campus work nearly impossible when it's entirely hosted on blackboard. Their "fixes" break other internal server connections. class enrollment is down so much that they're removing and cancelling classes during registration. Gordon Center staff is too busy sipping tea and gossiping to help any of the students who come to their desks. If I wasnt done in four weeks, I'd transfer to Cayuga to finish. Do not waste your time or money here.
What is they're psychology department like? Cause I want to study psychology
A high quality education for the cost. The community college atmosphere can definitely become toxic if one does not stay focused and on track. My largest complaint with this school would be the extremely limited library hours!
Just bad.
The YMCA gym is awesome
I Go Here Res Halls Are Ultra Strict If You Think Yoh Coming Here For Freedom Then You Might As Well Forget That . Yea People Drink & Have Fun We Not Little Kids Anymore We Are Adults Why Be Strict on adults for ? Plus It's Nothing To Do Around Here If You Don't Have A Car
Affordable. Feels like an extension of high school. May not be the college experience movies portray but decent education and activities that is transferable to other SUNY schools. If you're looking to transfer to a private school (such as SU), be sure to research how many transfers they accept beforehand.
Great school
i'm am a engineering student and spend most my time in the library. The lack of quiet spaces and comfortable chairs would be my number one complaint. You can't do long hours of studying without being uncomfortable. Also the food options are close to none and the quality of food is terrible and they charge you up the wazoo. Hopefully someone important sees this and makes some changes. If you are thinking about coming here make sure you know what you're getting into. The professors on the other hand are very good for the most part. And finally if you want to take a break from studying there is a ymca that comes in the price of tuition but, if you do like weight lifting the facility is sub par and the basketball court is never open when I go.
Worst school ever !!! The always find away too make you pay out of pocket too come back . The fininical aid people in the front never know what they are talking about their always giving the run around and also has the lack of COMMUNICATION. If you're going to an two year college don't go here . Also there is bugs in the dorms and me and my friend got bit and they haven't did anything about it .
Campus is filthy and too many students were not interested in education there. I went up on campus one time and went in a computer room on the campus. I seen a used pad in the middle of the floor. Also the bathrooms are also
Such a great Community College, with the emphasis on Community. The staff and the students here are so welcoming, I know my son is excited to start his post high school studies here.
Nice campus, lots of programs.
Got my AAS in Architectural Technology in May 1979. I was taught by practicing Registered Architects, so I got an excellent feel for how the Architecture & Engineering and Construction businesses worked. I worked for small A&E firms that had only five people, and I also worked for two major world-wide employers (Johnson Controls and Halliburton) that are both publicly traded on the NYSE. Prior to the big recession of 2008, I used the literary skills I gained at OCC to become a published author - not bad for a guy who was a terrible reader in his younger days - thank you, OCC. And since then, the literary skills have catapulted me into Hollywood. I now have twelve paid Acting gigs, I writing more novels, and I'm currently making the transition from literary writing in to screenplay writing. Thank you OCC, for getting me started into carreers that keep growing and branching out.
These reviews are skewed, as a U.S. Army Veteran going to this school i have noticed you have to jump through loop holes for anything and i dont mean the veterans office was unhelpful because they are very helpful its the rest of the faculty specifically the ones involved with travel or campus life
Nice
Good
Forced to pay for classes I didn't take. Called to make sure I could drop classes the first few weeks without grade or payment penalty and given false information. Now paying $1500.00. Robbery. Not to mention my "bill" was being sent to an email address the school had set up for me that I had absolutely no knowledge of...instead of sending it in the mail like any other normal bill. Now I'm responsible for paying 1500.00 that I was never made aware of. I was told that I should have expected a bill and should have been checking this forementioned "email" for said bill. All of this information provided courtesy of the least helpful staff I have ever encountered. In addition I was told that there was no one that could assist me further with this discrepancy and there was no one who would be able to help me set a payment plan. From there it was stated that I would be responsible to figure it out and set it up on my own otherwise they would send collections for the payment within a short matter of time. I am so thoroughly displeased with this entire process that I have discontinued my plans on returning this upcoming semester and will be sure to continue my education elsewhere for this issue alone.
Lovely campus, great staff and faculty
Great sports facilities with multiple gymnasiums. Admission can be pricey depending on the event. Parking is free, but be prepared to walk.
Went for a college tour with my daughter. Awesome campus
Teachers are good and facilities are very nice.
The administration and support staff (especially the employees at the main desk in student central) are the laziest, most incompetent and unhelpful people you could possibly deal with. A large majority of the professors are not qualified or have any type of understanding of the subjects they teach. The college has gotten far worse over the past decade.
Lots of restrictions on your financial aid money.
Great learning environment staff is helpful and supportive
Very nice place and very helpful.
I love the classes and the people that is there. I would love to go back but I'm disabled
The school is a joke. They mistreat students that have learning disabilities, veterans ,they discriminate against older students and there tutoring program is a joke. Little wonder their graduation rate is 21% and this is per an OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT WEB SITE.
Too many adjunct professors as they give assignments and notifying you at late hours the night before your class session. Expect to stay up late to do last minute given homework. Professors give you a course syllabus and required books, expect some your professors will change their minds and decide you will not need the book at all after you've just spent $300 and unable to return the expensive book since opening the seal. Do not depend or rely upon your Academic Advisors as they do not care what courses you take as all they care is you fulfilled your 16 credit hours in 5 different majors. Know and declare your Major and read your OCC Academic Catalog for proper course sequence and be sure to take correct courses. Also beware of the "2 + 2 Program" as to your Transfer to a 4 year college after OCC, it needs to be done in your very First Semester sign the agreement and send to your 4 year college. OCC has many problems as a 2 year college so it is up to you to make the best of it since the Administrators do not care. Today, most colleges are in it as a business to make money and the upper Board members, Chair person, committees and Department Heads , and President are in it for the money. As a Student, they are glad you enrolled there as Quantity "aka number" of Students matter and not a Quality Education. Plan your career wisely and make good decisions. Not all Higher Educational Institutions are equal but make the most of it for your money. OCC is very affordable if you commute from home. Apply for FAFSA , get the Pell Grant and NY State TAP and receive a Refund or the surplus money. Get paid for going to school if you want to call OCC getting an adequate education.
Parking? Nope.

I graduated from OCC and overall I liked it. It has it's pros and cons. The professors were very nice and engaging. A diverse student body makes for interesting classes. Like many other people, I agree that the administration is awful. It …
I don't even know where to begin with this school, doesn't even deserve a one star rating. This place is ridiculously unprofessional. Can never get through to someone on the phone when you have important questions to ask, or most of the time they will tell you "it's not my problem". They have lost MANY forms of mine or say they "never received it" when I send multiple emails over and over. They tried charging me for out of state AND in state tuition when I had already filled and turned in a certificate of residence. I had reported this "college" to the SUNY school system to hopefully resolve this problem. I do not recommend going to this school, especially if you want a bright future.
Professor are helpful
Just like many others I have bill for 4600 when I never attended called and emailed to make sure I was not registered anymore and they lied... Didn't send me a bill to my mail box until January of 2017 from the fall 2016semester. I told them I was enrolled into another school had my financial aid at the other school and everything. AMD it'd funny when I asked them to consider my aid into the bill and I will pay the reminder AMD they said no... Why you ask? Because they know I WOULDNT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING STUPID The fact I have a 18000 loan out is another reason I'm not paying for their 4600 they need to understand that people aren't just going to pay for their dirty broke school when we don't go there and attend another where we have to pay too ....
I just finished the first semester of Chinese! Professor Wang made every effort to help us learn a new language. The facilities are up to date and clean. Covid precautions are in place to keep everyone protected from the spread of disease.
big place but it easy to found your way around and the library has everything you need and there is always someone there to help you
Love this place, its so beautiful
