Great place to be able to be a test subject for students to get dental cleaning and so on. Had a very positive experience there. And hope to come again.

Every student I've had is caring and considerate. It's worth giving back to the community with my time.

The location was easy to find, parking was just across the street. Office was very clean and Covid precautions were reasonable. Maya was very friendly, clearly explained all the steps, and was a pleasure to sit for. Thanks Maya! Teachers seemed friendly. Chairs comfortable and equipment up to date.

I've had 2 very positive quality cleanings done by students there. The place was clean, and seemed well staffed. I'LL be BACK

I attended CNIH in 2016 and graduated beginning 2018, I really enjoyed my time here with my classmates and the lovely staff. There’s so many teachers who care for your education and will go the extra mile like Sangeeta, Caroline, Val, Dr I, Shanie, Donna, Ailsa, Janice and so many more!! I was very well prepared for the NDHCB (national exam) and feel confident in practice.

Save your time, mental health, and $, go to Algonquin or one of the schools in Toronto. Guarantee you won't be popping happy pills to get by like a lot of students I knew in my class. Very depressed and anxious students, a staff which plays favourites, and money grubbing all the way from CNIH. DO. NOT. GO. HERE. I say this as a certified RDH from this school; while my career is good, I would have done things differently and not be in serious debt to the bank because of this school. It's been over 5 years and I still get anxiety attacks from this place. Google is your friend. Research elsewhere to go, in a much more vibrant podunk town of Ottawa, and go to that other school that Google recommends you. Seriously.

CNIH prepared me well for working in my profession. The teachers are always there to help you when needed, they do more than is required to help students reach their goals.

It is your responsibility to fill your chair as a hygiene student. They do not care or take into consideration if you have no-show clients or people stop coming mid-treatment you don't get any credit for that work. Only counts if the client is fully completed! If your clients are unreliable, it can mean you have to pay extra money to get extra clinical time to finish. It is a convoluted process and they are understaffed constantly. Tons of wasted clinical time waiting on instructors to check your work and they take zero responsibility for it. Procedures changed since covid, chair side paper work, no US, no polish, no air/water..and they do not give any extra time because of it. There are also less people willing to come in and we will end up paying more money for any clinical requirements not finished. Its disorganized. We have to hand scale, and have to remove stain by hand which takes longer... we don't get extra clinic time for that. We paid huge money to attend this school and I would NOT do it again. It is so expensive and clinical process is so stressful both pre amd post covid. Just got worse after covid. They also lied about the school moving locations, we were not made aware when we applied that this was even a possibility, we now have to pay for parking and more expensive housing. This process has cost somewhere around 80+ thousand dollars for tuition and living expenses. Lasted months longer than it was supposed to and we get nothing extra because of it. If we asked questions staff get defensive and short like they shouldn't have to explain.

This is the worst place I went their and I didn't like the service was horrible wasting time wasting gas for nothing real dentist always good.

It is a money driven institution with incompetent passive aggressive instructors . My advice try to find another college other wise you will lose your money !! Or be ready to be insulted ! It is a scam !

Jess Shaw

Student led FREE dental assessments and cleanings. Very good way to give back to the community as they need patients to practice skills on, but also cleanings are free during covid days (normally $40). Students are trained and knowledgeable.

The CNIH Dental Hygiene program has given me the right tools and experience to succeed in my profession, caring instructors and a great environment to learn in if you keep your head down and study, although not for the faith of heart; long hours and overwhelming amounts of work. All in all a great opportunity to learn and improve yourself. I hope their new location aids the students in their learning.

do NOT go here for the ultrasound program unless you want to hate your life. This school does NOT care about their students. It is the most unfair, unprofessional place I have ever encountered. They get whoever they can to teach classes instead of finding someone who actually has knowledge and can help their students succeed. Most of the faculty are rude, sneaky and just care about your money. I never had such a negative impact on my mental health then when I was at this school. They do not try and help you succeed or even attempt to make the experience a good one. And the registry exams? Goodluck with that. Check out their most recent passing rates. The school doesn’t properly prepare their students, probably due to the fact that they don’t have proper teachers for all their subjects. The program director is a bully, the clinical coordinator is awful to deal with. The school also has a bad rep at many clinical sites, and will cause you to lose out on placements you wanted. You will spend 8-12 hours a day in class only to have to go home and re teach yourself everything because the teachers are useless. It is basically a self taught program. Physics and OB were the worst for this. Graduating from this place knowing I will never have to deal with anyone there again was the best feeling. Let’s hope their new location actually has a library or perhaps some windows. Current location is in a sketchy mall and is very small. Extremely overpriced and a rip off. Seriously go to another school. Side note: Not all the staff were awful- Shanie and Mary Ellen are the two sweetest people you will ever meet. They are one of the few that actually cared about students.

Terrible school - the atmosphere is absolutely toxic. When a student complains about bullying they say thats it's an adult learning environment and they can't do anything about it. What kind of school allows bullying to happen? Staff are out of date and not knowledgeable .... offer very little help to their students. Can easily tell that they are not full teachers and received their certificate online... would not recommend.

Hehe XD

If you’re planning on going here for DMS, DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place is extremely unprofessional and just a huge money grab. The educators are not educators. It seems like they got their teaching license from some online website. They teach horribly (some of them are actually good like Kara and Dina). The marking schemes are ridiculous. You’ll lose so many marks and fail your assessments with simple small mistakes. Staff are rude and cranky during labs. They expect you to learn something within one lab session when these apes have had practice for years. Staff also favours students. The fees here are expensive as hell. You can go to Algonquin or any other college for a much cheaper price. Say goodbye to your mental health if you go here. You’ll be popping anxiety pills and antidepressants from all the ridiculous work load and stress from scan labs.

Ultrasound program beware! No program like this can be accomplished in such little time. Check out other accredited colleges (ie. Mohawk, Fanshawe etc) it is twice the time, less money. Find another reputable program.

Save your mental health, money and go some where else for a DMS program. PLEASE read the reviews about the program on google before you apply I would highly recommend you wait and get in elsewhere before considering here.

This school has really helped me be organised in a fast paced environment, work as a team, work hard, make friends and learn life lessons. The instructors were all awesome.

Mélissa Ouellet

Attended CNIH as a dental hygiene student. The instructors there are very thorough in teaching the theory and clinical material. I felt well prepared for all exams and to take on my new role as a dental hygienist. Instructors made themselves available as needed for extra help.

I went there to get my teeth cleaned..It took 3 visits to get everything done, but I'm very happy with the end result..My teeth are whiter, and my stains removed :)

Rachelle G

As a 2019 CNIH graduate, I can say that the staff has prepared me to successfully write the board exam. During the 18 months, I have learned the important theories and concepts and gained valuable practical experience which I am now able to apply in private practice.

The DMS Program prepared me for the workforce. The Faculty was great and the Facilities made it a pleasure to learn in. Thanks CNIH!

The DMS program at CNIH has done a wonderful job in making sure that we're prepared for practicum and the real world. They always look at past groups and make improvements every year on how they can teach us more effectively to prepare us for registry exams. Considering it is a fast track and condensed program, of course it's going to be extremely stressful, but they help you to the best of their ability. Some instructors may appear intimidating at first, but they really do care and will do what they can in order to help you achieve your goal. It's nice going to a smaller school as you are able to have a more personal relationship with your instructor and they can be available for you if you should ever have any questions or need help. We have instructors that work both here and at other schools and even they say that what we are taught in scan lab is way more in depth than at any other school. I and two of my brothers have all attended this program and we think it's great, especially if you're wanting to finish school and start working in a short period of time rather than study for a full 3 years. You just need to come in knowing that it's not going to be easy - it takes a lot of work - but it's a short time pain for a long time gain!

Reviews 2019

I do not recommend the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program at the CNIH. This school is run by a bunch of charlatans who have no care or respect for their students. Beware of their false advertisements. Scan lab time is extremely limited and unsupported, and their decades-old ultrasound machines stop working one after another. Worst of all, the instructors are rude, unprofessional, and incompetent. Not surprisingly, the school is gaining an increasingly poor reputation among employers and ultrasound clinics. Several of the recent term 3 graduates were dismissed from their practicum sites on the first day, and the school has not been able to find another practicum site for them.

I got several dental cleanings here since the price was good, however, they do not tell you the status of your teeth. After years of coming to this dentist, I paid for a professional dentist (Who wasn't at CNIH), and was informed immediately I had 3 cavities that were pretty advanced. Since no one at CNIH even hinted I might have cavities, I'm quite unhappy about them.

The entire experience of this school has been an absolute nightmare start to finish. Reviews online seem promising but be weary if you are considering this program. The staff at this institute are rude, you will not be able to review your grades, and all other problems are ignored by staff. Not to mention the hands on learning is rushed and they are not accommodating to different learning styles and students needs. Bullying both from staff and students is also dismissed almost immediately. This school is full of false promises.

Alexis Smith

I had the pleasure of attending CNIH in 2018/2019 for dental hygiene and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there! The instructors and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and ensure that we are very prepared for the real world. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick and great school experience.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN THE ULTRASOUND PROGRAM* Word to the wise, do NOT go here for Ultrasound. Your best bet is Algonquin or a more credible school. This school is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and is essentially a HUGE money grab. Since they moved downtown you are paying $45,000+ for program that is less than 2 years... They boast about how it is a shorter program than other schools, but it is not- some of the other schools get Summers off but the actual program time is the same. Back when I attended the school, staff were mostly unsupportive, rude, condescending, and unprofessional. Some staff were nice, but the majority were not. They would try to charge you extra fees wherever they could. There equipment was always malfunctioning or not working in some shape or form (be it in scan lab or in the computer lab…), it is very upsetting for all the $ you pay to be a student. And god forbid you are a struggling student, the number of students that have been sent away (out of the program) crying as the school greedily collected more than half of their ridiculously expensive tuition is disgusting. They deserved better help and support from the school. Practicum was an absolute NIGHTMARE. No one was happy with their placements, and the school did not consider anyone's preferences really, they wanted to send students to places to help build their own reputation. This school does not have a good standing at MANY clinical sites due to past mishaps and bad blood between sites and their previous students, practicum coordinator, and DMS practicum director. In fact, many sites have cut ties with them. There is a gigantic shortage of practicum placements, so be prepared to go ANYWHERE in Canada for a few days, maybe a week, a month, 2 months... Or if you are lucky the full 4 months. The practicum coordinator does not care about your feelings and is not very helpful when you have issues, it is like talking to an empty shell. I have met some of my best friends at this school, but overall, I would NOT recommend this experience for anyone! It is sketchy, pricey, stressful, and not worth your time. Do your research! There are many better schools with more quality equipment, a good reputation, respect for their students, better staff, and practicum placements... etc. than here! Good luck!

I attended CNIH in Sept 2016, graduated March 2018. I was very excited to be accepted into an accredited school. My experiences while I attended was one of professionalism, hands on interaction with experienced instructors that taught us real life conditions. I really appreciated the clinical time, working on real patients, each having their own different cases. After graduation, I was able to apply my learnings from CNIH into achieving full time employment in my home province of New Brunswick. It was always my dream to have a career in dental hygiene and CNIH was the first chapter, thus far, in this rewarding career.

I got poked prodded and punched in the face...and it was the best! A great way to help a student. 12/10 would do again!! Thanks CNIH! I'll be back!

CNIH has prepared me for the dental hygiene profession. I feel confident with the hands on training and knowledge that I learned from this school when applying it in my day to day work. The instructors were great to answer any questions.

Sheryl Jane

I felt well prepare for the NDHCE and working in the "real world" as a registered dental hygienist after taking the Dental Hygiene Program at CNIH. The clinical instructors, theory instructors, and staff at CNIH were helpful throughout this intensive course.
