My name is Theresa Harrison. I AM a step mom to a student who now is distance learning at home. When covid turned education upside down I know how hard it was for teachers, students and parents. Change always brings confusion until some order and understanding sets in.
I want to say how very pleased I AM with Glenview Park Secondary School. My stepson struggled as did many students. I found myself at a loss as to how to help my stepson go forward in His education. He struggles with autism and adhd. The student couselor, Fatima Hall helped this family through. If I had a question or concern she had an answer or would check in and get back to me with a solution.
My stepson needed math help but had all his math credits. Fatima Hall went above and beyond searching out resources to help him at home. The first quarter of distant online learning was a struggle but his teacher was amazing with him in his cooking class. As much as he wanted an online visual teacher this did not happen. This teacher made herself available through email. He did a great job in her class because she cared. She even came to us for a distant social visit to taste his delicious baked cookie project. My stepson was so happy to meet his teacher. This made a difference in such a big way.
Now in the second quarter he has an online class with an online teacher he can see. He is so happy. He loves class and can not wait to attend each day. Miss Maxwell is super nice and patient. My stepson opens up and greets and helps and has lots of positive input. Thank you from a stepmom's heart. His second class teacher has already contacted me to ensure a positive class and help my stepson feel good and not be stressed about his up coming class.
Without the help of these teachers, and Glenview staff I could not even imagine the mental state of my stepson. So I say thanks to everyone in education distant learning for making my stepson feel encouraged and supported. I GIVE YOU ALL A 5 APPLE RATING
With great regard and prayers for a safe year
