I have rewritten this posting twice because I can't say enough positive things to say about the Sprott Shaw Staff and Teachers, I was so scared to walk in the College, knowing that I haven't been in school for years and to hopefully get a student loan. I have never owned a laptop and then Covid hit, I had to learn to be online, and a few times I had to phone the college to help me get on so I wont miss class, so helpful, so kind, so encouraging, they are the ones to make me feel supported and to laugh when I call them again and not feel ashamed. Right there made me as one of the class and not a number. The teacher I had is so funny, kind, thoughtful, enthusiastic, caring, respectful and understanding, if something needs to be addressed and she will make it work to help you. I can honestly go on and on and I am sure all the other teachers that I have meet on screen and ones that I have not met, have the same values as my teacher. I am filled with gratitude for them all to make me feel proud, an asset and worth it. Much love and Respect to you all. Denise Hoglin
This college is so much more than just a school, The people who work here are amazing and genuinely care about your success. They go above and beyond to help you wether it's your personal life or school related. Highly recommended.
Loved my time at Sprott Shaw College in Kelowna. I was apprehensive about returning to the classroom after being gone for so long, but found the students of all ages to be very supportive of each other. The instructors/staff worked to see that everyone succeeded and planned several special events to keep things fun.
I was a student that attended Sprott-Shaw College in 2016. I took the Executive Legal Administration Program. The learning environment is perfect for students who like having extra help, explanation and enjoy working in a small class environment. The teachers really set you up for success because they care about each students progress and want to assist if you are struggling. Verse, being just another kid in a classroom of over 100 university kids. It is a family environment, you become very close with your class-mates and teacher. I felt the knowledge and skills taught were applicable to my current position in the legal industry and set me up to be successful at my current job and going forward into the future. You get what you pay for, it was worth the extra money. Overall, I had an great experience and recommend the school to others!
I came to Sprott Shaw College expecting a great education which I did receive beyond expectations, but not the relationships that would come with it. I quickly found a campus full of wonderful people who want to see you succeed and want to help you in any way they can. More importantly, the Legal Administration Diploma course prepared me for my job I managed to secure and move myself to Penticton with just before the end of my studies. While we can talk about education and earnings all we want, the relationships built will last far past my 10 months here and will be what I hold closest. Sprott Shaw College has changed my life incredibly and I will forever remember my time here. – Gabi Phillips
The best atmosphere for learning, positive and professional. The staff really care, they are passionate about the success of each individual student. The tight-knit group of staff at this campus are hard to forget, it made going to school enjoyable.
Absolutely loved the family environment. Sprott shaw staff are amazing, friendly, helpful, and fun. I got a diploma in business fundementals and then went back and got a diploma in Community Support Worker - Social Services. Both times I enjoyed the experience and made good friends.
Sprott Shaw is such an amazing school. The staff are always so warm and welcoming and the instructors always strive to help you succeed in any way they can. All of the Staff and fellow students I met at Sprott Shaw have become a second family and the relationships and memories built here will last a life time! I couldn’t imagine having gone to any other college or feeling more prepared to enter my field. Thank you, Sprott Shaw! If I ever decide to go back to school, you’ll be my first stop!
Work place is disorganized, didn’t get access to any of my online textbooks until second time around taking the course. Was kicked out because of an assignment that wasn’t done to the instructors standards. Yet I followed criteria. I noticed the staff really doesn’t care for your education and doesn’t want you to be successful. A lot of the equipment we used either was outdated (health care aide course) or wasn’t sufficient supplies for all to use. Learning online during covid 19 was difficult enough they caused so much confusion and stress and never once reached out to help while I was slowly failing. Only reached out when I wasn’t meeting requirements
You kicked my fiance out of school because of a rumor you guys heard about her going out on the weekend? We stay at home every weekend to make sure she's save, WE EVEN CANCELED CHRISTMAS with both our family's so she can stay in school. This is absolutely outrageous, now you tell us we will not be compensated and removed from the program because of a rumor you heard?!?!? My fiance had never missed a day prior and she was getting great grades. This was completely unprofessional and I will be spreading the word about how awful you treated her.
I am over 70 years old and was very excited about going back to school and taking Early childhood Education. I had no idea how challenging it would be. When I applied I was thinking that it will be nice to be back in a classroom and meet new people and learn new things. By the time the course started I was told that there would be no classroom activity and it would be all online. I thought there would be no way I could do that as I was not familiar with computers outside of face book and emails. It turned out that not only was the instructor most encouraging and helpful, but also the other students helped me in learning how to navigate the computer. I also felt comfortable calling the college and getting extra help with the computer part. I sometimes called Tammy, one of the advisors, now and then moaning that I couldn't do it. She was so supportive as well, telling me to take deep breaths and reminding me that I certainly could do it. I love being with the children and believe this is one of the best decisions I have made. I learned so much and I would have to say, this might have turned out to be the best year of my life, so far.
It was absolute chaos, and a terrible experience. I would never recommand anyone to this school.
Terrible college. The team is SO disorganized. SO all over the place. They nearly made someone I know, pay an extra 5 grand at the end of her course, because they were using her current student loan to pay the old student loan off. They are not at all organized, Terrible service. They, kick people out over the smallest things and the most unreasonable things. They need 0 stars.
Absolutely the best college I've attended. The staff is amazing. They are always friendly and make you feel like your part of a family.
I contacted the college for information about a course and that was it... was told I would recieve calls... I have now gotten 2 calls back to back and have asked them to remove me... was pressured to try to sign me up, I said no and that I domt have time to not call back... then a minute or so later got another call and as I'm explaining to this guy I dont want calls I just wanted information initially and told him I just recieved a call not more than 2 mins ago and I know their promo I'm not interested please remove me from the call list I got hung up on when asking to be removed so I dont recieve more calls. .
Worst college. Ever. Not recommend
Absolutely love the staff and the work. Never thought i would be able to achieve a diploma in something i enjoy. The staff are helpful and amazing, and they help you find the right job. I highly recommend Sprott Shaw.
I just finished my Special Education Teaching Assistant Program and loved every minute of it! I cant say enough good things about all of the staff and programs at Sprott Shaw Kelowna!
Attending classes at Sprott Shaw College was a very positive experience for me. The instructors I had, including the occasional substitute, were generally well prepared, very approachable, and interested in mine and my fellow student’s success. I appreciated the smaller class sizes and the interaction with other students and the instructors. I also enjoyed all of the other events and activities on top of the classes. All of this helped to bring a feeling of a close group, having fun, and of course learning new skills. The saying, “The more you put into it, the more you get out of it” is very applicable here. The only thing I didn’t like was the pace. Some courses come at you at machine gun rapid fire
The staff are energetic and enthusiastic. They do their best for the students and really care about their success. Be aware; for profit school is different from going to a public college. Advantage: My 2-year bookkeeping course only took 8 months and included business humanities courses. A definite time saving. It was well rounded. The teachers are well versed in the course material and very responsive. However, there was little time for beer gardens and life. Typically, a 3-month course was taught in 2-3 weeks. You spend ALL your time on school work. Very intense. The job search courses and counseling are particularly good. Joanne Funk is dedicated to finding job success for every student. She gave me leads for half of my current bookkeeping clients.
I recently graduated from the Kelowna campus as valedictorian of the Business Administration class 2018. If it weren't for my instructors and advisers I wouldn't have the great job I have now! Truly grateful 10/10
