I completed my first year in the Horticulture Certificate Program and absolutely loved going to school here. My professors were knowledgeable and really wanted to help the students succeed. Class sizes averaged around 25 which was a perfect size where I felt I had individualized attention and could ask questions when I needed. The facilities used (mostly the Land Sciences Building) had the tools we needed and was kept clean and tidy. I left school feeling knowledgable in my field and went back to work feeling way more confident. The only thing that was a negative for me was the meal plan but this would only affect those living in dorms. Overall I had a great experience with the school and would highly recommend considering the Horticulture program here.

The campus is wonderful. Most of the instructors are great, however, the college as a whole is poorly run. Never expect your schedule is actually what it is and always have money stored away in case it turns out there's a class the registrar forgot to sign you up for.

High quality post secondary education institution , what a great resource for rural youth in the area to learn about their roots in agriculture and other farm related courses. My brother took his land agent program here, he absolutely loved his time here and learned a lot about the industry- a VERY competitive school! Wow! Great job!

Walked around the gardens and wetlands. Things were less tidy than usual in the garden beds. I am attributing that to COVID-19. The wetlands were educational for my kids.

You're better off burning your money, at least you will get some warmth from that. The instructors and staff are all great people however. The prices are ridiculous, especially considering the career opportunities that are available from most of the programs they offer. 1/3 of my term wasn't delivered due to "COVID" Asked for some money back, was essentially laughed out the door Just got an email about proof of vaccination from olds college, which I'm thankful for, as it helped seal my choice about NOT returning for my second term. "Inquiry based learning" AKA Google it Post secondary is a joke now. Leftist ideals and fear mongering have ruined all post secondary institutions in Canada. RIP

Preview day was an amazing experience! There is so many amazing options and avenues for my daughter to try out! Only down side was how many students weren't in classes or were drunk on campus it appeared. I have been out of the scene for a long time so that may be the college experience ;) On top of these photos that were posted to a "private" social media page. Not a choice for our child anymore to be a student athlete.

Campus is nice but the way this place is run is corporate garbage. Instructors are nice people but other than a one in the horticulture department are horrible teachers and do now know their subject matter. If I could get my tuition back I would. Nothing like the college I transferred from. Was hoping for a great experience and to learn. Unfortunately at olds you only waste time and spend money.

Terrible school, promised so much, delivered nothing. Do not believe them when they say they will have people there to hire you before you finish. ALL LIES. Wish I had my $11,000 back as I got nothing out of the place. No job, couldn't get a practicum so no diploma. Zero help getting the practicum. STAY AWAY DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY. Would love to see them closed down by better business bureau.

My son had an amazing experience taking the Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate. He found the instructors to be so helpful and very knowledgeable of the industry. They provided real life projects and hours of seat time to perfect techniques. He was able to get a job straight out of the course with one of the industry partners. He is very happy with his instruction and connection to industry needs. Thanks to the great instructional team and management.

Buyer beware. Cherrie Sims and her husband Paul promised to pick up supplies from a store and deliver it to me. Cherrie disappeared with the money, promised to return my money, then never returned my calls. She said she worked for Sundre town and is a graduate of Olds College. She now sells bird food on Facebook.

Meritocracy Matters100

Olds College is a good Educational & Research institution, but could be far better! Recently the new president has been implementing positive changes, however it still can be seen a widespread disease in the college where non qualified personnel have being employed just because they have connections, not qualifications. As an educational and research institution, the most qualified professionals should be working to maximize public investment and to reach real progress. You can often see the small town mentality prevailing in many positions and multiple occasions. This is unfortunate but hopefully the change will come and meritocracy will replace the current status quo, sooner rather than later. Yes, with the advent of internet highly qualified people willing to work in Olds can be hired; that was a problem from the past. Meritocracy matters.

Attended in 2010-2011 For the VMR program. I loved being in the country a different pace than the city. Staff are helpful and friendly. Courses are intense, class sizes are decent size and the grounds are great for taking walks. The library is spacious and offers free wifi and computers, a large selection of material and books. They offer a barn to store Horses for Equine students. Upside: Living in the condos gives you freedom to come and go as pleases. They have 4 bedrooms/ 2 baths and kitchenette and sitting area with Washer and dryer onsite. Downside: If you live in the resident building it's first come first serve with food in cafeteria (Bland dishes), laundry room is always in use that it's hard to find a washer to use plus no elevator unless your moving in with luggage.

Was told last month that a certain flyby security company lost the contract to do special events at the college here in Olds because one of their "top of the line" security guards got into a fist fight with a cowboy at a dance at the college earlier this year. Gee I wonder what company is that cough cough TW and TC . I love it!

I do not recommend their applied degree. I'm paying $4000 for a course that is self taught. I haven't been graded for assignments that I submitted 2 months ago in this class. I have no idea what I am paying for if I don't recieved marks for assignments and there are zero class times. Rather than hiring an actual teacher for this course they decided to hire a teachers assistant to be in charge of this major class in the fourth year of a bachelors program. I do not understand this. Unprofessional institution that forgot to enroll me in a class, then said it was my fault I wasn't enrolled. I pay my tuition and expect proper services for that tuition. Overall bad experience, especially in the fourth year of my degree.
