What a scam all they do is take your money just to apply. When they know the course is already full.

A premier Technical Institute located near downtown Edmonton. The facilities are modern and the instructors are experienced/skilled. It's positive reputation is supported by the numerous international students attending. There's a multitude of affordable student housing nearby, via transit or walking, and it's near downtown.

A technical school with an emphasis solidly on vocational training. The campus life is almost non-extistant as people are only there to get training to get a job, not to get an education. Having attended two trades programs here and spoken to students and faculty in several departments I'd give NAIT a solid middling rating. Some programs and years are better than others as the school struggles to hire and keep competent intructors and develop course material. The predominant atmosphere is mildly authoritarian and slightly ignorant, but some faculty members are more enlightened than others. Some instructors really know their stuff and others bumble along leaving a wake of stressed students trying to find a way to learn what they need to know. The gym is well equipped, the pool is large and open early, there's a hockey rink and a hockey team, and there are good cafeterias scattered around the place. Lots of perks.

Fantastic business marketing course - at least it was back in '94 when I took it. I have personally benefited from the education I received here, the course was intense (but worth every minute), the instructors knowledgeable and relevant, and I came away with real actionable skills used everyday in my current business life. Highly recommend this education institute.

I have attempt to get 3 diplomas and 1 certificate form NAIT and never succeed due to Staff harassment, bulling, ignoring Alberta OH &S, human right violations, and not teaching what is in the curriculum either taking stuff out or putting stuff in. College Prep 2006 2 semesters, 2006 Power Engineering Tec 3 semester, 2007 Alternative Energy 1 semester, 2017 Instrumentation 3 semester,2017 CNC Machining certificate 1 semester, 2019 If I was some looking into a college, I would not go to this one, I filed several grievances and when they became sever and negative things were happening to me they were just ignored. I am only going to talk about my last program, CNC Machining certificate, as it what caused me never go back to this institution. I should point out I did work as a power engineer for about 10 years and was able to obtain my 3rd class ticket. That where my knowledge of OH&S came from. I notified staff on no less that 14 separate occasions about eye wash stations, there was no inspection date on them and all had at least 10mm layer of grime, and one was half full. The only thing that was fix was some one wrote a date on them. Lack of industrial hygiene - Staff not wear PPE as set down by NAIT and Alberta OH&S - Staff eating McDonalds cheese burgess in shop while operational - Not giving manufacture manual on equipment - Grinding beside flammables - Using compressed air in an open space - Having student service, the equipment with out any procedure Human right violations This program also had human right violations. The labs are so full of machinery that will not let you bring your book bag or winter cloths into the lab. They also have not provided you with adequate storage for your PPE in general. This was the only lab I had been to at the NAIT that operates like that. What happen when there is a fire and I must leave the building and NAIT is known to have fires form time to time. I have out go out side and face the elements with out any PPE just because of lack of space. Build a bigger building! Bulling I was told by the program head safety is relative and if it does not kill you, you do not to wear the PPE as set out by NAIT and Alberta OH&S. I was then told to shut in the lab by him when I was tell my lab partner a story form my power engineering day s about changing my PPE, 5 times, during a morning inspection. I talk to NAIT resolution center, but the Craig Wheaton just covered everything up. And my next course of resolution is Alberta law courts. If I were to choses a college I would look as the success rate for people that started the program at day 1 to finishes. Not on their placement rate of graduates, NAIT does not give you that stat. Anything is else misleading information as it does not capture everything what is happening. My Alternative energy and instrumentation diploma had high drop out rate. Why? Fraud or misleading Infor. NO word of a lie, Web site does not match what the instructor are saying. If you want to be successful in these courses every hour of instruction time equal 1 hr of study time., and the web site lies about that. Hope this helps you in you choses on attending to NAIT!

Chloe Xing

Their online programs are a scam, stay away and do it through another university. NAIT charged me an application fee, I sent them my transcripts which they did nothing with it and then told me my application was cancelled. They made no effort to contact me about any of this. Don't waste your time or money with this school.

Vaccine required even though they claim to be "essential to Alberta" I thought essential services couldn't participate in the restriction exemption program.

Absolutely dreading the fact that I have to come back for 2 more semesters. First 2 years was awful. Instructors put in the bare minimum and just read off a PowerPoint. Was very difficult for me to get my questions answered and don't even get me started on how everthing is priced. Food is outrageously expensive just like every of amenity. Really makes you question whether they actually care about your education or if they're just price gouging you for profits.

Instructors in my department lacked the character required to hold the title of instructor. Teachers had no practical experience. If they did, they didnt see the need to share any of it with the class. In the classes with textbooks, the textbook was the teacher. In the classes without textbooks, nobody had a **** clue what was going on. If you are truly interested in learning about state of the art technology, spend your money elsewhere. I’m displeased with the financial aspect of schools entirely. Why am I forced to buy UPASS, Books, parking spots other amenities if I never ONCE used them??? It’s outrageous how people allow this sort of thing to happen. I paid for a parking pass so why should I have to pay for the UPASS not to mention everything on campus is overpriced beyond belief, especially considering there is a mall right next to it.

Riley Smith

I absolutely love this place. About a year ago, I was told by my doctor that I would never be able to go to school. And here I am now, getting excited every morning to take the bus there, achieving over 90% in all my courses! It's all thanks to the amazing NAIT staff, really. They have been very helpful throughout the last year, and NAIT's stand on inclusiveness and diversity made me feel welcome and normal. If I ever have a problem, there's always someone to talk to, it's really just a matter of looking out for all the resources. There are so many things to do for the students and programs to help the students that are not even used much, which is a shame - if you ever need help, don't just give up, ask someone for help. There's no shame in it and you'll accomplish more than you ever thought you could.

Hugh

I was trying to find a school and it is a bit tricky and confusing. so first I went to grant macewan, When I went there to ask about some course and tell them what requirement that I have and I don't have and what will happen, they ask me to look for my information online and guide me trough a step by step online (something that I already know). The information they provided did not help me at all. only 1 advice I take: they ask me to go to NAIT or Metro for upgrading, so I did go to NAIT. at NAIT I went to the student service centre and they give me a step by step for what I need to do, what am I going to expect, and what happen if I don't have the requirement. they give me an information which is make me understand more and answer my questions. I take 2 night course in NAIT, the instructor is funny and give you lot's of example to make you understand more about what you are studying. the moodle is also great. I am glad I take a course in NAIT.

Great instructors and great prices on courses

Nait is a real rip off. They'll take your application fee with no warning from their website as to if they're full or that you might go on a wait list. I applied 2 times. 1st time I was put on wait list and rejected. 2nd time they told me "apply right away! A few seats left!" Well I did...week later I was on a wait list again which led to another rejection! At $115 per application fee that means I'm $230 out. Hey enjoy your $ nait! Don't be fooled by their virtue signaling website....they care for no one except the almighty dollar.

There seems to be a massive disconnect among staff and administration regarding difficulty; for reference: Physics 30 vs Math 30-1 Physics 30 is an OBJECTIVELY easier course due to having plenty of real world examples, yet we're given a full formula sheet with ALL the constants and equations you need, we are also allowed to reference our text-book and notes during exams. Math 30-1 is an OBJECTIVELY harder course, dealing with numbers in the abstract with real-world examples treated as an after-thought; we're given a formula sheet that contains most equations for the course, but not only does it not contain every equation you'll need, you're also REQUIRED to memorize a bunch of other arbitrary rules that come up, and you're not allowed to reference notes during tests. I know Math is generally considered a more "Important" course (Which in and of itself is stupid), but that's hardly an excuse for such a disgusting disconnect in difficulty, especially since in the real world, math skills are becoming increasingly irrelevant (despite what the teachers would have you believe)

Reid Petrichor

I agree with the person who made the extensive post as I had experienced a lot of the same things there 24 years ago. Nobody with good intentions while attending that school should ever have to be experiencing the ordeals I had to endure there and am quite appalled that this is still going on. What a shame!

Culinary Arts student here. Well worth the experience and amazing instructors with a lot of experiences in the trade. And don't forget you can save a lot of money by purchasing the kit somewhere else or get the equipment individually. Including the clothes can be purchase at Chef's Hat. You'll be told this later on.

Paula Pedraza

I have taken many courses at NAIT and am quite pleased with the quality of instructors and variety of courses, however, I have had bad experiences with NAIT when I am owed a refund. Many NAIT courses, such as their apprenticeship courses, require you to pay up front at the time of scheduling. Due to the nature of apprenticeship training apprentices are frequently required to cancel their course or reschedule due to employer requests and personal reasons. Payments are taken automatically, and are swiftly processed, but refunds take over 8 weeks. If you do not continually contact NAIT they will forget about you and will not process the refund. When contacting their student service wait times by phone are usually over an hour and the online chat options are not nearly as helpful; they usually offer laconic replies and do not even attempt to resolve you issue. Considering the high volume of students and high quality of service that they advertise, they are quick to take payment and will resist issuing refunds when they are due. The level of neglect I have experienced trying to get refunds in the past has made it feel as though they truly intend to keep your money if you do not persistently hound them. Therefore, overall, I strongly urge students and future students to consider other options before giving NAIT their money.

They forced me to pay $340 for a buss pass. I have a car, and am only taking one night class. I also already have a buss pass from work. I get that they are a business, but this is just low.

Great school, great instructors, good class sizes, extracurricular activities and awesome learning experience, EXCEPT when you have to deal with anything online with them. Absolutely the worst school website I have ever witnessed in my entire life. NOTHING works when you need it to. You could honestly pay some 16 year old highschool kid taking Computer Science 10 to make a better website for the NAIT Portal. It looks like it was developed on a flip phone from 1995. Every time I have to register for classes I feel like it would be more productive for me to beat my head against a concrete wall all day instead. For a school named "Northern Alberta Institute of TECHNOLOGY" you'd think they could have payed more than $0.75 for a web developer. I'm 450% sure that a first year Web Design student could make a more intuitive website.

Alina Nemyrovska

it's a really good college.... only bad thing is trying calling them and you'll never get through. I just finished calling them and the machine said I was "1st in line" so I was happy about that but when I am "1st in line" for 25 minutes is really poor communications on NAIT's part. I never got my problem solved I just hung up, nobody helped me. This also happened to me I called before maybe 4 weeks ago and I was 7th in line then I moved to 5th in line in about an hour to pay for my course and I hung up again, then 3 days later NAIT called me saying I owe them money, it's like they don't care about your questions unless when it comes to money... I am their top priority. I've taken course at NAIT it's a great place but terrible terrible phone services not everybody can drive to NAIT pay for parking just to ask a question. poor.

I live in Renfrew Arms Apartments on 98 ave & 104 street 4+ years, students from here like Jessica (business/yoga) & Jenna (aucupuncture) by city of edmonton and their gangs regularly (24/7) wirelessly shocking and torturing teanants in of renfrew and britania. need help. They bring in hundreds of cars and target individual teanants through 'the horizon apartments' + 'the palisades/broadwalk' + vincity. need help.

It’s pathetic. The lack of communication between the school and students during the summer. Maybe hire more people to answer your phone vs it just auto hanging up. As someone who’s spent thousands for school already I expect to get some customer service. Not to mention the schedule planner misses many class options and response via email takes 5-7 days which isn’t viable when things are time sensitive.

JamaicanMario

Ernests is run by the Culinary students at NAIT. Staff/students are friendly, the food is well presented and very reasonably priced. Keep in mind when dining to be patient with staff/students as it is a learning environment.

I completed my Business Admin - HR diploma through NAIT and had nothing but issues. Most (not all) of the instructors were uninterested and wouldn't give you the time of day if you asked. I have had nothing but issues trying to get documents. They take days to reply to emails. I had medical issues as well as mental ones that I tried to explain to them and get them to be a little more understanding and they did not care whatsoever. I would definitely not recommend NAIT for Business Admin.

Was a great place to be at one point. Even with covid in full swing, they made it work really well for us. Fast forward to January Intake 2022. An absolute gong show... Having to go into school to write your unit exam, then being told to have to "find somewhere to sit" in the meantime, while all sitting areas are closed! A slap in the face to the expensive tuition we pay. Only to be told to go grab a table at the gross Kingsway mall for 3 hours. We do not pay 2K to sit at Kingsway or Tims when its -40 outside. Beyond disappointed. Having to go into school for ONLY labs while having supervised exams while we were watched on our cameras was a good thing and they should not have ruined it.

Abhi Kaushal

Terrible structure no organization terrible schedule we had almost a 50 percent fail rate in class I've been to slave lake college and Lethbridge college because I couldn't get into nait before but even though I live in Edmonton I would rather drive 8 hours to Lethbridge for school then having to teach myself ..

Marina Perilli

Great post secondary polytechnicle school. They have a large selection of top notch programs to take. Highly reccomend

Tyler Warren

Wouldn't say it's the most advanced technical school in Alberta, but the instructors and courses are amazing. I finished my diploma and currently working on continuing education here and have had no problems. Yes, pricey, but education in Alberta comes with a price. Every year I visit this place, seems like they have new buildings popping up. The LRT station at NAIT is a good upgrade recently as this helps transportation for students. Wish they had this LRT station when I was in school. You get your money's worth.

Josh Muldoon

AVOID NAIT! SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH INSTRUCTORS AND ADMINISTRATION! Enrolled with or thinking about going to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)? If so, you need to know about the problems currently festering within this institution, especially with the instructors and administration. NAIT instructors lack proper credentials and professionalism, while the administrative staff is unqualified and inattentive to student needs. In fact, the entire administration lacks an organized structure, leading to long wait times, extensive delays, and unmet student concerns. By hiring, cheap, unqualified staff, failing to address gaps in their organizational structure, and delaying or denying refunds to students, NAIT clearly cares more about saving or making money and less about its students. NAIT hires instructors that lack the proper credentials to teach at the postsecondary level. Many of these instructors are recent foreign immigrants that lack fluency in the language, fail to teach their subject matter properly, violate professional ethics, and lack familiarity with NAIT's disability policies. In particular, the business program hires many instructors with degrees in foreign countries. Since the education in some countries differs from that in Canada, I fully believe that these instructors should obtain Canadian credentials and communicate clearly in English. In addition, many of the foreign instructors lack the ability to teach effectively. For example, my FNCE 2280 Investment instructor Asim Y. spent much of the class time discussing American politics unrelated to the topic of investment rather than teaching the assigned class material specified on the syllabus. In TAXX3312 Taxation, the instructor H. failed to provide any teaching material on Moodle, neglected to provide feedback and grade on my taxation case, and disclosed my private medical information to another student. Finally, my MGMT4419 instructor N. constantly made rude and sarcastic comments to students in discussion forums and changed the textbook in the middle of the course without providing any notification to students. Lastly, many instructors lack knowledge of NAIT's disability policies and openly refuse to accommodate students with disabilities or fail to properly follow the procedures for accommodation. My FNCE 2280 instructor, mentioned in the preceding paragraph, disregarded my medical documentation and failed to provide the mandated accommodation as per students with disabilities requiring extended time for tests and examinations. After further questioning on my part, he extended the time for all students, thus providing students without disabilities with an unfair advantage over their counterparts with disabilities. Not only does NAIT hire unqualified and poorly trained instructors but they also suffer from a poor administrative structure. Many times, I have contacted the Dean's Office to request meetings, report issues, or raise concerns about serious problems within the school, including poor instructor quality, safety and security breaches, parking violations, refund requests, or medical issues. However, I have found the Dean's Office extremely unresponsive, as they failed to respond to many emails and phone calls. Former Dean Tracey Scarlett even ignored two requests for a meeting with her despite the fact that she seems to have sufficient time for her social media accounts. Similar to NAIT instructors, Dean Scarlett lacked the appropriate credentials for her position; although she has a medical education (undergraduate degree), she served as dean in the Business School. NAIT suffers from several internal weaknesses, including poorly qualified and trained teaching and administrative staff, bureaucratic disorganization, poor ethical practices, and a lack of concern for students with disabilities. Due to all of these issues, I highly recommend that you avoid NAIT when deciding upon your institution of choice.

I applied to nait just before all this covid19 craziness started i went to school in ontario and the U.S unfortunatelly my transcripts only show how many credits i brought from my schooling in the US and the courses i took in grade 12 in Ontario to prove my ELP(english language proficiency). I couldnt come up with my transcripts from the U.S bc LIKE most cities and countries, schools are close so thats their excuse to not help me whatsoever in this process... i mean these obstacles are way out of my control... anyway i just wasted $115 on this application and 20 minutes writing this review..... i cant say its an awful school but all i can say its that they took my money and left me hanging with no real genuine help. They didn't even deferred my application for the summer or fall...my experience was awful...

The worst experiences in my life, rather Red Deer college for apprenticeship training. Instructor was working on his business course (NAIT sudent)while being a so called Instructor.

I've taken power engineering and achedemic upgrading through Nait. The teachers have been superb and always reasonable. The course material is easy to work through and the staff are willing to work with you. My only issue is that the site can be hard to work through to initially sign up for a program.

I've heard many good things about the trades classes they have here. I do think NAIT can be very helpful and offers some great programs, since I know a lot of people who attended and have gotten hired with their skills. But their one-year Graphic Communications course is a joke. The online page for the course states that "You can also expect to gain practical, hands-on experience with industry-standard software and equipment" in the Graphic Communications course. They didn't even let us change the paper in the regular printers we used... Any "hands on experience" with software was a teacher pointing at the right areas to click on the screen. One instructor was working two jobs and didn't have time to mark student portfolios. To be fair, there was an offer for a face-to-face zoom call to go over portfolios, but I can't imagine any other school not offering in-depth, automatic marks and feedback on the most important project of the year. While some of the classes were great, several of them were disappointing. One teacher even constantly left an hour early or cancelled classes to take care of other duties. I could go on for a long time about the things that annoyed and angered me about my time at NAIT, but I don't think I need to. It's a good school for becoming an electrician, a plumber, a vet tech, etc, I just think this specific program is poorly organized. I gained some good skills in a few basic Adobe programs, but this course doesn't cover enough to be a good investment on it's own. I wish I had just applied to a different school entirely. Graphic Designers these days need a lot more to be competitive than this course offers. This course just doesn't give them enough to enter the field.

Look elsewhere for schooling; only apply here as a backup to your backup. My interaction with this school had me treated as "just a number." Very unreasonable and definitely felt like a bureaucracy. even tho i go to this school, its absolutely ridiculous that you are given the option on wether to be vaccinated, or drop out. The best part is that if you choose to drop out, there will be no refund for your tuition!! And you still have to wear the mask if you are vaccinated. I guess you can still come to campus if you're sick with a cold but can't go if you arent vaccinated!

Great instructors

NAIT will take your application money knowing that the College or the program is full. Very bad business practice. There should be a Government regulation - regulating bad colleges.

Extremely poor service, people are rude and interrupt constantly. They also take applications knowing there are no spots available and pocket the funds. What there doing for online registration is basically fruad. Take your money, even though the class your interested is full for over a year, and Nait has zero intention of even offering the applicant the course. Then refuses refund or offering an alternative start date. Nait doesn't inform, and is scamming students. Up yours Nait. Who owns you Trump? When I called regarding this, they said it's a 3rd party and there not responsible, who hired or who is the 3rd party acting for, Nait? The list of excuses listed from phone staff, must of come from internal memo, or staff meeting. Staff also refused managements contact information as well as people in charge of policy's.

Got my mechanic license from nait

Great place to learn. Took some night school classes there.

Completing the Business Administration - Marketing diploma here will not prepare you for a career in social media. I think if you're fresh out of high school, the business administration courses here could be beneficial, but if you've been in the workforce for several years they will seem redundant. However, if you do decide to enroll here in marketing, select courses led by Teresa Sturgess and Drew Wolsey. They are stars! If you've completed the marketing diploma and are feeling overwhelmed with social media marketing, I recommend the free online social media marketing certification through HubSpot to help get you started.

A fantastic, internationally recognized post secondary polytechnic

-application portal is too unfriendly. -application needs to be mailed physically prior to given conditional offer. doesnt make sense.

Well, it's a college for one, and I guess that it's also nation-wide renowned, so that's all pretty cool. Ah, who am I kidding, this is one of the best (granted, the only one) colleges i've ever had the pleasure in learning under! It's got a full sized pool, two NAIT owned restaurants (and numerous other fast food places), tons of arcade machines scattered throughout the place; this school ain't lacking anything! Yeah, I'd give this place a solid 10 outta 10

Instructors don't have knowledge on how to teach or in some cases, don't know what they teach entirely. Toss in some "issues" with students, apathetic staff and an all around terrible atmosphere for the student body, NAIT is a true hell. Avoid this place like the plague. Literally anywhere else is better.

Jesse Schulte

Great staff, and well researched curriculum!

Only issue I ever had was parking. get your pass early.

a big university with many diffrent classes and if you get the chance i highly reccomend it

Harsimran Kaur

Worst experience .. They would ask you to apply for the program and pay all the evaluation fees and only to find out later you are late to apply so you apply again for next term and pay the fees the again.

salem abdulla

Avoid taking trades here. It sucks. The system sucks, their teaching style and their instructors suck. You guys want real good education experience for trades? Go to Lakeland College. The difference is nig and day with these two facilities. The instructors actually do lectures, finish labs as a class so no one falls behind, they actually go over and beyond to help you. They even stay after school to help you understand. If you need extra help beyond that, the college pays a tutor for you and you get 40+ hours or more if you need. Trust me, they dont have this ridiculous 90% nonsense at Lakeland and treat you like human beings, not numbers.

Scott

You need to update your top 50 alumni page and remove the Murderer Mark Twittchill from your list of top 50 alumni. It tarnishes the image of NAIT. I would like to see NAIT replace their top 50 alumni with another alumni.

I called to inquire about some courses as i was unable to understand somethings online. I spoke to the lady named frankie or whatever and she is just of no use at all. All the questions i asked, i was told to look in to the website. I asked about transfer of courses i was again asked to go to the website and after listening to this usual and not so helpful answers i said i am just going to search it myself and she said ok bye and literally just hung up on me. Well guess what, you just lost one potential and very interested future student. Thanks for nothing.

Mark Muller

degrees and diploma are just a way for this institution to make money. used to be a good institution where people could go, study and get a decent living. now its a place to go get a degree like BTECH which aint even recognized by work places "unless you are working in that position by knowing someone inside" and then " the inside help moves you on". your better of going to grant or ufa and doing anything from what they offer

Mark Mark

Received abysmal assistance from academic advisors and customer support. Appointments not kept, dodging questions, and the website has many bugs.

By Default

I could write a book on why I hated the whole experience

Ali El Ghazawi

Student support is non-existent. Too many lazy instructors who want to get away with doing the bare minimum now that they are online and reposting old course content over and over without updating material yet still collecting a pay cheque. Don't bother.

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PLACE!People working in NAIT are horrible, I would be saying nothing if I was calling it horrible, to be honest. I was happy to be accepted back in March and I was really excited to move to Edmonton to start my studies! i was supposed to start May 4th 2015, so from the time I got my letter of acceptance till May 4 I was patiently waiting to see the schedule. Around May 15 I find out that I AM DOING ONLINE COURSE which is not acceptable by Canadian Immigration if you are willing to immigrate throuhg study. Honestly I called this place 200 times asking WHEN will the schedule be ready, and every time I was getting same answer "it is to be announced". I am extremely dissappointed with this place. I spent 7000 bucks for NOTHING, and that is because of the extreme improfessionality and ignorance of all the staff working in NAIT. I am an international student, and I spent all my money to get at least a little tiny chance to immigrate to Canada and NAIT's improfessional stuff took that chance from me and took all my money. Moreover, when I was trying to fix the situation and get accepted by a different college I asked nait's stuff to email me an official letter that would state that I'm not a student anymore, they refused to do so becase "they are not supposed to issue such documents". Really??? I paid you whole bunch of money and you dare to say that???!!! I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS INSTITUTION, ESPECIALLY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS! NAIT WILL RIPP YOU OFF AND MAKE YOU GO HOME LIKE THEY DID WITH ME! HORRIBLE STAFF WORKS IN NAIT!

Todd Mcarter

NAIT is such a great place that I would rather spend most of my time there, than spending at home????.

James Walters

Instructors are helpful specially for the online studies. Though I'll give it a one for student services and payment website.

Omru Dawood

Graduated from CNT & BAIST. The former is one of the hardest programs, but you're guaranteed ready for nitty-gritty real-world programming or business analysis. Most of the instructors were good and challenging. Inexpensive tuition with quality education. Great technical institute!

Everyone is kind and friendly so far

NAIT is becoming a leader more than ever. Diversity, serious educational credentials and seemingly great attitude and willingness to work with students. My daughter has attended University of Alberta and NAIT and told me that the instructor was very interested in what she's looking for in a future occupation. Practical and useful is what I like so far!

Jen Jen

First of all the registrar office is close due to Covid and the contact center is only open from 8-12? What a joke. Feels like NAIT has no support at all with current students.

Carissa

NAIT Customer service is non existent. Their course layout is extremely disorganized. It is pretty much self study for the entire program I'm enrolled in. It's a money grab college with not much value. If you can keep looking for alternatives.

Jay Clair

I came for the meat store, stayed to get educated. Great place, great instructors. Weight room is very tiny and out of date, and parking is impossible. but willing to overlook it for the cheap meat they have available at their butcher shop

R Roms

Business hours are super restricted to get course information. As an Alumni it is disappointing to see the level of service drop so prohibitively and feel this diminishes the credibility of the school and as such the credentials that have been obtained. How can an organization like NAIT not have someone to answer questions during normal business hours? As an employer seeking course information to upgrade staff skills this is both frustrating and disappointing.

Been a million years since I went, but the recent grads I've seen have all had that NAIT touch in common: practical knowledge and quick to get into the real world and start working. Some of the equipment may be ancient, but that's how it is in the real world too.

Matt Gaboury

I don’t know how they treat the other students, but as an international student from China, I had a really terrible experience here when I tried to submit my documents. First of all, they need hands, because every time I had to waited for a long time. When I submitted my transcripts, graduation certification (those are printed) and my government approved college entrance exam results (the original one in a booklet), the lady there asked me to bring original one rather than printed one, because an original stamp is required. Then she accepted and scanned my government approved one. Then she charged ANOTHER $75. I was a little weird because I have paid one when I applied online at ApplyAlberta. When I came back with original documents, the woman that day was terribly rude. She refused my documents because “the stamps LOOKS like a part of the paper”. Actually, my high school used atomic stamp, which stamped clearly but looks like a printed one. I insisted that it was original but she kept refusing to accept it without a good reason. To my surprised, she said that the government approved one was invalid either and said it must be in a booklet and I have to asked my high school to deliver documents directly to NAIT. I was shocked. What the heck were those requirements? In China, not every documents are in booklets. And why she refused with a subjective and ridiculous reason? And why they charged me even though I submitted nothing? I said thank you twice but the woman replied with a rudely glance, as if I had owned her something. I made a complaint and asked a refund for I still kept the receipt. They give in and told me the government approved one is okay. They said me I would be welcomed when I resubmit my documents but did not mention about the refunding. I would say I felt really disgusting after that day and have no interests in NAIT. I know I would not enjoy the life here even I got the offer. And I have no time and energy for that. So I just sent them free $75. I know it’s okay for a school to be strict, but definitely not ridiculous and rude. I lost time, energy and money due to their mistakes and I was rudely treated. I am going to say be aware when you applied for NAIT, especially international students like me.

Meow Cat

The 1 star is for Russell the head of the automotive dept. The guy is a terrible instructor. Does not know how to teach whatsoever. Just reads out of modules and very vague with his explanations. It's beyond me how NAIT has a dept head as one of their instructors. Trying to complain or voice my grievances was near impossible when you want to tell the truth but risk being put on the hot seat with him being your instructor. The automotive dept needs new leadership. But on a side note, Kevin & Dan are 2 of the best instructors at NAIT. Wish i could have had them for the whole course.

The infrastructure of The institute is really impressive. Moreover there are many students in this institute starting different different kinds of all subjects. There are wide range of courses available here. Furthermore there a lot of recreational activities. A student never get bored here. In addition to this there are many clubs which do a lot of activities. So, Northern Alberta institute of technology is such a place where you can do anything you want. The teachers are very helpful and understanding. They are very cooperative and experienced. There is a pool and a gym Ave this is free to all the students.

Pat A

Can anyone please let me know how is the automotive service technician course here?

Robert Gorman

For international students, my humble request to you do not trust ever to this college, i got admission into it and somehow my visa is rejected it’s ok but college is not giving my fees back. I had put lots of mails and inquiries to college but it’s just water under bridge. My one semester hole fee is gone and they are refusing to give me back also they said you are late for course withdrawal form. So international students be aware this happens to you next and your semester fees can go just like that....totally injustice and inappropriate in terms of students.

Great instructors!
