We also stayed in the cabin overnight as well. It was roomy and comes with a washer and dryer in the cabin. We pulled in after midnight (several hrs late for check-in) and the staff had made arrangements for us to still get to our cabin. The following morning we had breakfast and hit the road with full bellies.

Wayne Mcneil

Very slow service at restaurant. Understaffed.

lynn mar

Waitress was nice and since she was the only one there, service was readonable. Can't say the same for the food. Turkey sandwich was dry , bread tasted stale and the "salad" was a few pieces of lettuce and tomatoes with a packet of salad dressing. Won't be eating breakfast there tomorrow!

Rick Feller

We had dinner at this small eatery, restaurant and motel. The prices were Yukon-typical high, but the service was prompt and food quality acceptable. Overall it was a pleasant stop.

A modern rustic throwback to the history of the Yukon. Buckshot herself serves up homemade food and cold beer with the sass and a biting humor. Great place, good food and warm hospitality right at the edge of Canada.

Worst experience ever with getting a room at Buckshot Betty's! I made a reservation for a room as I was moving from Alaska. I informed them the reason I was getting a reservation (moving from AK and driving with all of my belongings to lower 48). They said they had me down for a reservation and will see me then. Crossed the border and they were closed! I called their after hours number 5 times and no answer! Left a voicemail and no call back - not even the next day!!! Why is there an after hours phone number where they don't answer is beyond me. This time of year is slow for them. Not many people are passing through the AlCan during this season. I feel they could have had the decency to call me to confirm or wait for me to get there. I mean what's the point of wanting my phone number when I made the reservation. I was 25 minutes from the time they said their cafe was closed, and that was due to the time change when I crossed the border. They also said they were open 365/24/7, and they were not. They charged my credit card anyway for a room I didn't stay at. Had to drive 4 hours later to a motel that was open. It was awful. Disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Betty gave us leave to park our RV in her parking lot, a gracious host. Slept out there that night and ordered dinner. The burgers and sandwiches were good and we enjoyed our night. Betty was wonderful and I hope to come back again one day.

Lonnie Huffman

Raw chicken! I special ordered the chicken parmesan to be served with pasta and spaghetti sauce instead of the way they normally serve it, which is with buttered noodles and vegetables according to the menu. They accommodated my special request, which was great, except that the chicken I received was very raw inside. I had only taken a couple bites when I noticed, but I cut the chicken in half to show the waitress that it was raw. My plate was taken back to fix it. They brought me back half of the same piece of chicken that they'd already served me previously, not a whole new piece. This time it was overcooked, but at least it wasn't raw anymore. My partner had the fish & chips, which he said we're very good. I won't go back, and I hope I don't get sick later tonight.

(Translated) Great food on the Alaska Highway and / or back to Whitehorse. (Original) Excellente nourriture sur la route de l’Alaska ou/et au retour à Whitehorse.

Good food and atmosphere with reasonable prices. However, service was on the slow side.

We got to the hotel at 845pm and Betty still made us dinner. Had fish and fries and hamburger and fries and it was good. Stayed in the cabins out back and it was bigger than I expected. Although we had to pay a fee for our cat and to plug in our car, it was a good night's stay back to the lower 48.

Holly Giampaolo

Best place to stop for food in the area. Service was so friendly. The cabins are actually quite comfortable, ours was very clean with a newer bathroom.

Hal Daugherty

Really good hearty food. In fact they serve huge portions; I never could finish my meals

Eric Stoltz

Best in town!

Danette Wingett

Was NOT happy with my stay! They were rude on the phone when I first called. That should have been my first clue. Secondly, my sister and I got there about 7pm the power went out at 9pm and Never came back on! 31 degrees out so you could imagine we were iceblocks throught the night. It was so cool that we couldn't sleep so we got on the road at 5 am. We had to find our things in the pitch black and spend another day in the car without a shower. When I called them a couple days later to ask about a partial refund, they told me to call the power company, that is wasn't their problem They were not going to help me at all! I asked to have the manager call me when she got in and it's been 2 weeks. They don't care about their visitors and I will NEVER stay there again. And I will make sure no one I know ever stays there.

Loretta Bly

We came through Canada and stopped at this restaurant because it was the only place open in town. The prices were exploiting as with all the other places in the Yukon. We ordered our food, we were told to serve ourselves drinks. I was handed an outdated Pepsi in a bottle. I brought this up to the owner aka our waitress. She told me to get another one myself, I told her that she could do it. She then brought me another outdated drink and I brought this to her attention. The lady looked me right in the face and asked "is it bad or what?" I told her I wasn't qualified to answer that but in either case she can't sell me expired foods. She laughed in my face and turned around. I told my crew to pack up because we were leaving. No food had been served at this point and we had just placed our order. This lady called the police on us for dine n dashing, the officer was really cool about the whole thing and leveled with me man to man and said "look this is a town of 90 people, I have to live with them, technically you didn't do anything wrong but would you perhaps offer her something for the food she had to throw away?" I went back and offered her 20 bucks. She made me wait 15 minutes before taking to me and then began to berate me the whole time. I tried to keep my cool and told her look, do you want the 20 bucks or not. Nothing was registering in her brain so I walked out a second time. This lady is nuts. Who knows what else she has in her restaurant that she is serving as expired food.

Worst experience ever we booked a cabin when we pcsed in December we got there at around 6pm everything was shot down and as I’m called them they said they booked out and have nothing free anymore and that they gave my booking away for ppl who arrived earlier and they will give me my money back…. Well we drove the whole day to come up there with 2 little kids2,4years old there was nothing nearby no hotels motels nothing.Luckily we got to the gas station and we told him what had happened and he had a super cute room still free for us. I would never book with them again we traveled so much and such a incompetent business we never crossed before. You can not count on them or trust them.

Bruce K

When you pull up, the place looks a bit rough, but we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The food is decent. About what you'd expect from a roadhouse-type place.

Rodney & Monica Gaskins

Cute cabins, good food

Trista Crass

Oh Lord be careful eating there! They are open, serving beer and old AF baked goods, so they get two stars. But the food is horrible--I got a turkey sandwich, and what showed up at the table looked to be either pig or prison food. Rotten chopped up roast turkey, American cheese, and the crusty outside of an onion, with a side of separated, brown, foul-smelling "soup". Couldn't choke it down for anything, our dog wouldn't even eat the turkey. Nasty, just nasty.

Grete Greer

Clean, quiet, comfortable, affordable. We loved this place. We had an excellent time and felt so welcome! The cabins are adorable and clean. The food is great as well. Would definitely stay here again.

We travel Alaska/Canadian hey for work in the lower 48 and stopped in for lunch. Great service! Delicious fresh food and terrific coffee! We'll stop again on the way back up the AlCan. Well, it looks like I gave a review but never posted it until now! My bad! It's a month later and we stopped in again for lunch...just as great...great food and coffee! We will stop in again for sure next year!

Everything Amazing

I was charged twice. I was told over and over again that I would be refunded for the double charge, but it never happened. I submitted a dispute through my credit card and was denied. This place is either shady or unorganized. There aren't many options in the area, but I will never go back!!!

Wayne Van Loon Sr.

We came in and after being told to set anywhere, we sat at the only empty table. After we had sat there a few minutes, someone sat a small box on the table. A few more minutes later, the waitress came over to take our order and told us that we would have to move to another smaller table that had just emptied. At that time she turned around the small box mentioned earlier to show us a side with "Reserved" written on it. We stayed anyway and moved to the other table. I ordered the special, beef Stroganoff . They said they were out of it but was substituting chicken bacon Alfredo. I said OK, I'd go with that. What I got was some noodles with cream of mushroom soup on it. I saw 1 chunk of chicken and no bacon. YMMV (your mileage may vary), and I hope for the better if you ever need to eat there. We are staying in Beaver Creek tonight but you can be sure that we will get breakfast somewhere on down the road.

Very dark inside. I imagined a cosy feeling but didn't get it. Take out beer prices were super expensive. Menu contained a good selection and at moderate to high prices but we chose not to stay and eat.

Food was great, freshly made. Talked to Buckshot Betty about the photos on the cards she sells in the gift shop. Ask her to tell you the story about the 2 bears she photographed. I think she should sell the picture, it's natural and if people get offended by the picture, well, they don't have to buy, I'd buy a few and mail them everywhere ????

A clean, well priced little cabin. Right on the highway to the border. Pretty much your last place to clean up if crossing. They have a little convenience store there as well as a restaurant and bar. Really helpful staff. They have that Northern flavor - call it like it is, quick to me a joke.

I would definitely not eat here again, once was enough. How they got good reviews for the food is beyond me. Homemade cream of mushroom soup tasted like celery and had a few canned mushrooms, not good. Service was mediocre, not friendly at all if that’s what you are looking for. If you need to eat, do yourself a favor and don’t, or get a premade sandwich out of the cooler I’m sure you’ll be better off with that option.

Stopped here for lunch/ telecommute from while passing through town. This place is NOT laptop friendly. There was only one other table in there around noon on a Tuesday, and I was still asked to leave or put my laptop away. Since I telecommute, I paid and left and went to the visitor center across the street, which is much more accommodating for working travelers (but no food at the visitors center). Apparently the policy is if you want free wi-fi, you must book an overnight room. If you want to use your laptop, you must use your laptop in your room and not in the dining area. I've been telecommuting for over a year, all over North America, and this is the first time I have ever encountered a policy like this. This is not a fancy restaurant - it has the feel of a down to earth mom-and-pop coffeehouse, self serve coffee/ water. I was excited to try it out. It looks like it would be a traveler friendly place to telecommute from, but it definitely not. I only came here because the website and ad in the Milepost said "Wi-Fi available" and it looked like a good place to have a bite to eat and work from, but apparently there are several caveats regarding the Wi-Fi and don't even think about bringing your laptop in the dining area. I think Buckshot Betty's should change the language in their ad and website to "Wi-Fi available only to overnight guests in their rooms, and not the dining area. No laptops allowed in the dining area." (Or something along those lines).

Best option in town. Had a good rest and nice hot shower. Wish we could have eaten there. Only negative was that the room smelled a bit musty.

Max Huot

After driving 5 hours, we showed up and they had given our room to someone else, sending us to a different, much lower quality motel close by. We had book the room with a credit card directly with the hotel a week prior AND confirmed the day before that it was all good to go, as i have 2 kids with me and did not want to overnight in the car... Wow was i wrong... the hotel they sent me is the lowest of the lowest and i am used to traveling in the north. Beware if you book a room, there might not be a room for you in the inn after all.

Very comfortable setting, and a welcome sight after driving all day from Haines. Food was very delicious. Wanted to try the homemade sweet roll but it was just too big! Homemade bread was good. If you are your way to Alaska, or on your way back, you owe it to yourself to stop here for a bite to eat. Excellent food and good value for the money, something that can be difficult to find at times in this part of the world. Comfortable dining with a pioneer decor. Lots of souvenirs and other essentials for sale. They also offer accommodations. I stop here every time I pass through.

The first time I ate at Buckshot Betty's was in 2014 when traveling from Ohio to Alaska. I don't remember what I ate though I am sure it was good since I ate there again this afternoon/evening. The special a Spaghetti with some sides. I was really, really good and I am sure I will order it then next time I visit if it is the special. Smile. I should have used the garlic bread more efficiently to sop up the sauce. I will do better next time. Smile. Thank You especially for the exceptional assistance. Smile. See you in June.

Nice little restaurant. Prices are reasonable and parking is free. Easy to find right off the side of the highway. Great coffee. ATM machine didn't work so we had to go next door and get cash. Very nice staff.

Betty us one of those "self made" women, who worked hard for every dollar she has made. Our expectations for a meal were low, due to the location, but Betty blew us away. Lasagne was awesome! This is a must stop place. Also stayed in her cabins around back - very clean and modern.

(Translated) Great accommodation. We had a big cabin with enough space. Everything you need and the standard in such a hut. The car we could park directly in front of it. There was free Wi-Fi, which was not limited. :) The Restuaurant was very good. They conjured us a delicious pizza in the evening, with fresh ingredients, which we took in our cabin. So we were happy with everything. (Original) Super Unterkunft.

Avoid if at all possible. We couldn’t, so we were subjected to the worst food service I can remember. There is a paper sign stating they are understaffed right when you walk in, so you would expect it to be a little slow. What you wouldn’t expect is the “hostess/server” to be completely rude to every single person in the restaurant. Even with every patron trying to be understanding, patient and and polite as possible, this lady went out of her way to be rude and make everyone as uncomfortable as possible. They were expecting a tour bus with 20 some people to be arriving, so we were rushed from the minute we showed up. I can’t understand how she was expecting to be able to wait on the people from the bus when she couldn’t even handle the 10 people that were already there. This lady just needs to hang it up. Unfortunately that means there will be no place to eat in Beaver Creek, but the gas station up the road has Ramen noodles you can microwave. Same quality as the food they offer, but at a much lower price. I can’t say enough about what an unpleasant experience this was. The building was nice/quaint, but this lady’s ugliness towards customers made it worth never stopping again. Any good review seems to be an act of charity from the locals just trying to keep her in business. Drive the extra hour to Tok or Haines Junction and put this place out of its misery.
