The store is great with several specialty items I can't find anywhere else. However, there's an older woman who works there that is particularly rude and made it known that I was an inconvenience to her....she even rolled her eyes....that makes me not want to shop there.

Check expiry dates!!!!! I didn't realize until I got home to Inuvik that some of my items expired in 2015!!! I do like that they have a good selection of food that you can't get other places, but from now I will be really checking everything I buy there.

The store awning states "open 20 hours". There is also a large sign beside the awning saying "20 hours". The Internet says open at 8:00. But the sign on store door says open Saturdays & Sundays, 9:00-11:00. Disappointing

Had an iceberg here, known as a screamer most other places, and it was amazing (softserve bottom, slushie middle, softserve top.) Best part, aside from the flavor in my mouth, was that all of the packaging was compostable. Paper straw! They've got a great selection of unique items and great vibe. Found a can of Fernwood Coffee Cream Soda and was stoked to see a product from a small producer on the island up here in Whitehorse.

Destination for all the food items you can't find anywhere else and can't live without. Packed floor to ceiling in all rooms. Moreover, if they don't have what you're after, they'll order it for you. Sadly, hours have been greatly shortened over the past decade. Also, everything is painfully expensive. Look away as they're ringing you in, and just hand over your credit card. You're here because you really want whatever you're buying.

As others have said: lots of unique items and health foods that can't be found anywhere else. Lots of hot sauces, bulk foods, spices etc. Produce is priced higher than the big stores (for the exact same stuff - blue acres, Sarah's from Laberge, field roast brand etc.). 4 stars because I have bought groceries at full price that are past their best before date... the most recent purchase was a bottle of volcanic lemon juice that had a best before date of May 2021 (purchased in Ausgust). While I realize it's not actually bad, I do think there should be a markdown on the price if it's 4 months past its best before date... I've also bought pasta sauce and coconut milk creamer that were padt their best before date. Recommend always checking and maybe pointing it out to the staff.

Riverside groceries is the d to go for items you can't find in the chain groceries. Always get my yogurt starter there. A wide variety of vegetarian and vegan foods. As well as organic fruit and veg. I think tgey do organic meat also. They also have glutin free goidues. Anys pizza and plant based meats. Staff is friendly and still some of the original owners kids still there. I have been shopping there for over 30 years and always find new things to try as well as my usual food preferences.

Before you read any other reviews, you might want to check out what Yukon Health Inspections and Canadian Food Inspection Agency has to say about this place. Hopefully this will save you a lot of time and issues by avoiding Riverside Grocery. The owners regularly get in trouble for selling unsafe, unchecked and expired food items. Just ask anyone in town if they’ve ever bought anything expired from Riverside and been refused returning the item. Getting sick from Riverside Grocery food is not uncommon, yet they find lots of ways to weasel themselves out of any trouble because they consider themselves a part of Whitehorse heritage and have numerous cronies around town who mutually back them at any cost. Secondly, they have received countless complaints and have undergone inquiries from Yukon Government Public Service Commission regarding how they treat their employees and customers. Management has often been heard insulting and berating customers behind their backs and to their face, and especially severely abusing and bullying their employees. Every time I go in there, I see one less great employee. It’s their loss, really. I’m sure all the amazing staff I’ve come to know over the years have moved on to better places. Don’t be fooled by their “environment-friendly” image either, they have more trash and less recycling than most businesses in town. Most of their revenue comes from cigarettes and junk food, using overpriced natural foods as a way to bring in different crowds too. If you want an alternative, just head to Farmer Robert’s – same items, much better quality, and definitely not overpriced. The #1 place in Whitehorse when you are looking for specific ethnic foods - for example that is where I find my tamarind paste, miso, certain curry paste, etc. It is a hidden gem and it took me a while to discover it!
