I heard this place had amazing food and the food definitely wasn't a let down! The food was super yummy and the flavors were incredible!! Sadly the service was god awful. As the server asked what we wanted to drink we told him it was our first time and I asked what he recommended and what he liked, he said "he liked everything" but never reccomend anything particular or tell us about any specials at all that were going on or asked about allergies either. We looked at the menu tho to see what we order if it had anything that might have been an issue since it was all pretty stated what was in the food. We looked at the menu and ordered food (which the food was amazing).. but was never asked how our food tasted or was or even asked of we wanted any refills. I had to go out of my way to call him out to get a take our container to take home our appetizer and then ask for a drink. Once we got our main course he still never checked up on us at all.. my boyfriend started to have an allergic reaction and we had to ask to get our bill and take our containers for the rest. I had asked the server if the food contained something that my significant other was allergic to and he said yes to the sandwich but didn't even have the decency to tell us it was in another food item we had ordered.. Like I said the food was good but if the service is like that, I'll try somewhere else next time. I wouldn't have been bothered if the place was busy but there were only 4 other tables small sized and there were other servers too.

I’ve been going here at least every other month or so since it was originally a little cafe down the street. But the new menu is so incredible I finally have to leave a review of this amazing vegan restaurant. The new vegan “fish” menu items are outstanding. I love that they’re not made from a “substitute” but just a little known vegetable, freshly battered and perfectly fried. I ordered both the fish tacos and the fish and chips because I couldn’t decide. The server we had this evening was professional and down to earth and made our visit very pleasant. We drive 45 minutes from Dunnville to get there, so if you’re anywhere in the region I promise it’s worth the drive to Welland to go to The VHC.

Food was great! Server was polite. Place is very clean and quaint. I have been waiting months to try this place! Sadly, we were a bit disappointed when the server forgot to mention on the "Seitan or chick'n" fajita" ( as labelled on menu as 16 dollars) , that they charged an extra $4 for the chick'n in the fajita. So labeling an item that you can choose either those two, but we will charge you 4 dollars for it was not listed on the menu. Other than this hiccup, we made the best of our experience. And if you go, you MUST try the cauliflower wings! To die for! And the owner(chef) serves it right to your table herself :) also had the chick'n parm (pic for proof)

Very charming place, great food, great service. VHC was busy when we ate there on a Friday night, so the wait time for food was a little longer than average. Our order was confused, probably through miscommunication, but it was remedied and we were compensated for the accidental entree. Warning- large portions! :) If you get an appetizer, be sure to share it or you'll be taking most of your main course home! Awesome 'mozarrella' sticks, amazing poutine, great 'big mac'.... I'll be back to try more of the menu!

Went there and was seated. 2 Guys on stage doing a podcast talking about geek stuff which was very distracting and odd for a restaurant. Anyhow we were seated and given menus and told a server would be right over to take our drink orders. After 35 minutes nobody came to our table. Server went to the table beside us and took their order. Finally after that we got up and left. I am pretty tolerant but it was not busy and to be seated and totally ignored at a restaurant is a huge no no for me and will not go back. Had to give one star to do the review but it should be no stars!!

3 non-vegan ladies decided to try something new...our waitress was very informative and patient as we analyzed the menu for at least 20 minutes. Vegan burger for one, chickn wrap for another and a beyond Italian sausage....and WOW....it was all excellent and filling. totally enjoyed and was worth the drive from Niagara Falls and st. Catharines . we will definitely be back. very fair pricing too.

I really love the food here and I have gotten VHC about 5 times now. I have no complaints about the food itself just the attention to detail. Like i said i have ordered from here about 5 times now and each time there has been a problem or mistake with my order. It just seems like they can never get it right? More attention to detail would be nice. not sure if this is the kitchen or if the person taking the order just zones out most of the time

Amazing fresh ingredients. Even though I love my meat, I couldn't help but want more of the cauliflower wings I was served. 100% vegan friendly and delicious. My wife got a Kale salad and loved it, I got buffalo cauliflower wings and you literally couldn't tell the difference.

This is my all-time favorite restaurant. Literally everything on the menu is amazing and it is a big menu! My family and I always visit here when I am in town. It has become somewhat of a tradition. I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks and the BBQ Whiskey sandwich, but really you can't go wrong with whatever you order!

I had some vegan fam over from outta town. I called when the VHC to place an order and I was excited to show off their food. Welland Hydro had a powerline down and the VHC had no power... The VHC let me know when the power was back on and got me my food ASAP!! They saved my family dinner and they were incredibly friendly at the same time! I cant recommend this place enough. I'm not vegan and I found a lot of great stuff on the menu, Cauliflower(chicken wings),Mozza Sticks and the mac and cheese are all great!!

Tried to place a takeout order at 6:00 and was put on hold for 20 minutes then was told to come pick it up for 7:00. I waited an additional 30 minutes before I got my food. Plus there was only one table in the restaurant and they were already paying their bill when I arrived. Very disappointed. Probably won't be back.

Excellent food and great service! We dined indoors and it was spacious and enjoyable. Reservations aren't required, but are recommended for the dinner rush. The food was even better than expected, especially the kale Caesar salad! The food is a great deal. It's not too expensive and you get so much food for the price. We can't wait to visit again soon!

The waitress was so sweet! Theyake everything from scratch when you order so some things may take up to 30 minutes to make, but if you take an appetizer than the wait goes by really quickly. The food was great and I was too full to try their dessert, but they looked great. The decor was nice, and they have a terasse. The menu is obviously all vegan, and they have tons of gluten-free options! We made the detour while visiting Niagara Falls and it was definitely worth it.

I made reservations here for my 8th anniversary and wasn't too sure what to expect but from their Instagram I knew it was going to be good! Complimentary chips and salsa to begin and I knew I was in the right place. The Buffalo chick'n dip was good and a pretty big app as well! I had the Mac burger and upgraded the side to sweet potato fries, a double patty challenge with the black bean and sweet potato patty option. There's a few choices of bun as well, I had the regular bun this time but am going to try the pretzel bun next time. The burger was great! Very flavorful and not dry at all! It will get messy but that's due to the double patty. My girlfriend had the Mac and Cheese and loved it! It's spirelli pasta and the sauce is cashew based and very good! As far as portion sizes go, they are big! We ended up taking home most of the sweet potato fries, half the pasta and some of the dip! The staff were very attentive and we were never without water or napkins etc. We even got them to take a picture of us celebrating our anniversary and at the end they brought us a complimentary brownie! We were overwhelmed by their kindness and will definitely make this a regular date destination! Did I mention there was wonderful live music all night as well? Every Saturday! If you haven't been here yet, you really should!

The food itself was underwhelming. My fiance and I got the shrimp tacos and the whisky bbq pulled pork. The shrimp was bland and the sauce was basically 1000 island. The pulled pork tasted like nothing other than bbq. Nothing special. They share a lot of the same dishes as the Lemon Tree but dont match their quality at all. Would much rather go to The Lemon Tree if looking for great vegan food. VHC fell flat.

Met a vegan friend for lunch yesterday. Ordered the pepperoni pizza. They were out of the pepperoni, offering sausage, instead. It was very good, and they even sent us couple of free crabless cakes (also tasty,) while we were waiting. Outdoor seating was nice. Staff were friendly and attentive. You don't have to be vegan to eat here. I'm glad I tried it out!

I got happily surprised by their buffalo seitan wings. The seasoning and texture were beautifully balanced to replicate the traditionnal version. They have a variety of pizzas with interesting flavours. I had the one with butter chicken and it was delicious. They also seem to support diverse donations for the animals which gives a bonus point and a good reason to come back.

Awesome. All vegan. Some great gluten free options. I had gluten free Beyond Cheese and Mushroom burger. It was fantastic. The gluten free flat bread was to die for. The owner wrote down the name of the bread for me and told me where I could get it. The sweet potato fries were #10. I had chocolate ice cream gluten free. The free chips and dip were also gluten free - hot and yummy. My lunch was so good I ordered the same burger take out for dinner with a garden salad. After lunch I went for a walk down trail on Merritt Island only a block away. You can just cross Main St and go 1 block down Cross St to get to it. Or you could go down Main St to bridge to get to canal trail. I recommend taking a walk after eating. There is a playground, beautiful scenery, wonderful aroma of flowering trees like lilacs, restrooms, air for bikes available, parking by playground, benches to rest, friendly people to talk to, and much more. The path goes under Woodlawn and all the way to the 406. This restaurant is a great stopping place if you are doing the Niagara Circle Trek biking from Welland to Port Colborne to Fort Erie to Niagara Falls to St Catharines to Welland. It is only 1 block from trail. The chai tea is amazing. Next time I am going to try the home made ginger ale. Service was the best. I find some vegan restaurants too spicy but this was perfect.

The service, food and drink was good but what put myself and my sister off was the fact a Pitbull Cross came into the restaurant which was NOT an identifiable service dog. .I could see it was allowed to sit up on the chair and sprawl across the floor ,coming close to our table and it was not put in a down stay ,and later on the dog proceeded to growl and bark at a person that came near it and it scared the living daylights out of my sister and I which we both do have diagnoseid PTSD and made us extremely upset ,we left right away as it scared us and will not return if this is to happen again. Please put a policy in that only registered service dogs are allowed and nothing else as I love this restaurant but will not support a business that doesnt have some sort of safe guards in place and that only allows Service Dogs..Thank you

So as a Non Vegan I was a bit hesitant about eating here but my Daughter asurred me I would love it.. I trusted her and we decided to go ..I was not disappointed. The place was clean and very inviting to the eye on entering. It had a warm feeling to it and the Staff and owner made us feel welcomed.. I ordered and had the best Mushroom Caps ever! Everyone loved what they got..Bing your apitite as the portions a big All the food was fresh and well prepaired..Our host Cloiee was exceptional. The washrooms are very clean and it is wheelchair access. As a Non Vegan I highly recommend this place to everyone!

However I would recommend this food over any other takeout in the area.

I have loved the VHC forever. This is the first time I've had the Chik'n Bacon Poutine and Greek Salad, and holy cow. The feta in the Greek salad was fantastic, the poutine was amazing and didn't make mouth dry as the desert with its salt content. The brownies are absolutely massive, and same with the cookies. If you want a treat, it's here. Also check out the breaded Cauliflower Wings with Buffalo sauce. SO GOOD.

We had deep fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, cauliflower dip and the BEST cauliflower wings I have ever had. Big pieces and perfectly crunchy. I want to compliment the kitchen on how un greasy the food was considering we had deep fried apps(clean oil)! Of course lots of healthy options on the menu. A daily soup and delightful kale ceaser salad. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was sublime, cares about the movement and bringing in everyone! This is my ultimate favourite restaurant! Apparently most people who dine there aren't even vegan! Goes to show you how amazing the food is! Amazing gluten-free options are frequently available as well! My non-vegan friends love the place! The staff here is literally the best! They're like one big family. Support an amazing local business and get treated with the best food and service around! My favourite dish depends on the mood! For lunch I love the club, its higher in price, but its HUGE! When im craving a burger, I always get the mac! Popcorn chic'n is always a must!! Its so much like a big mac but no animals involved! I also love the poutine! The gravy is the perfect balance. Absolutely amazing. I am not a vegan, but I respect and support the vegetarian/vegan way of life. I had the Big Mac Poutine and it was legend class. The seasoning and combination of flavours really helped; the 'meat' on it's own I would not find appealing, but the execution in this dish... I can't say enough! Don't be afraid to try vegan food! I did try a bite of my friend's Fettuccine Alfredo and I enjoyed the 'Chick'n' strips in the dish; I actually preferred that to actual chicken! Keep up the great work! I will definitely be back again and again!

Ordered for the first time this past Wednesday and got their Wednesday special. AMAZING! Everything was soooo good. I also highly recommend getting the vegan buffalo chicken dip... I'm not vegan, but the food was delicious and I'm excited to head back soon. I had the Buffalo Cauliflower wrap and sweet potato fries. Edit: 2 years later, and I've been here dozens of times. I find it a bit tight to fit in an hour when I go for lunch during a workday, but it's still my favourite vegan place in Niagara and I've since sent friends here who were visiting from Ottawa and Eastern Canada. All rave reviews.

If I could give more stars I would! Hands down the best plant based food I have ever had. Drove two hours to buy a bunch of vegan food with my friend and would drive twice the distance for VHC. We had the Reuben and it was the best sandwich ever, do not leave without one. Also had the Crispy Chicken sandwich with the tater tots and again, completely blown away. Those taters were magical and the chicken had an amazing texture with a crispy exterior. We split the Mac and Cheese and demolished it within minutes. The pictures aren't flattering or too pretty but it's the taste that matters and it will make your day wonderful. WILL be back for another Reuben and dying to try the seitan bites. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I am not a vegan and have generally tried to stay away from vegan food. My mom is a vegan so I thought it would be nice to get an appetizer that she can have! I ordered the charcuterie platter and I was so pleasantly surprised! Not only was the food delicious but the staff was so accommodating! I put in the order for pick up on the wrong day. I came in and they were able to whip me up an amazing platter in no time at all! Thank you so much for proving me wrong about vegan food!

I went there for the first time after seeing their page on instagram. My boyfriend eats meat, and said he couldn't tell the difference between their club sandwich and one with real meat and said it was the "best sandwich he's ever had" Food was crazy filling, service was friendly, and the restaurant was spotless. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to transition from meat aswell, we need more options like this place.

Outstanding!! Highly recommend!! The food is so delicious and the portions are fantastic. We ordered the mozza sticks (gluten free version) to start, and they were everything I hoped for! The marinara is so good! I ordered the Crispy chick'n sanwich (GF version) with a poutine, and oh my was it fantastic. My husband went with the Whiskey BQQ sandwich with sweet potato fries and he was very happy with his choice. The sweet potato fries are the best we've had anywhere. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was fantastic, as well. Everything came out so quickly, and was piping hot and fresh. Many thanks to the team at VHC for a lovely lunch! We can't wait to come back.

Overall a good experience. The cocktails were quite affordable but they weren’t strong. I can’t think of any other decent place that sells cocktails for $8 CAD! The good was good. I liked my vegan BLT but the pesto panini was as just okay. The service was good was well. Even though the host was quite busy, she was paying good attention to everyone.

The food is Awesome! It gets better every time we go! I would have given the VHC 5 stars except for the fact that a lot of the time their out of seitan bites or shaved seitan or seitan period. Also out of ice cream a lot of the time so that means no shakes Sundays etc. & the biggest upset of all is no HEMP or GOGI on the menu!???? Come on now get it together we VEGANS need our protien! My step daughter and grand daughters came to visit from Clarksville and they are vegan and my husband and I aren't. Found this place so thought we would try it. The food was excellent. I went here with my other college friend last week for lunch. The server was here, there and everywhere. I was not asked if I had been there before which would have been helpful because maybe then she could have explained to me what SEITAN was. I am gluten intolerant so I was diligent to order a poutine to avoid gluten. Turns out SEITAN is a condensed wheat germ. Which I didn't find out about until after I had taken a big bite of the nasty, dry, dirty dish sponge, liver tasting SEITAN. I ate 2/3 and picked off as much SEITAN as I could, in fact I picked it all out without missing any pieces. Which was annoying, and she didn't ask me if I wanted it remade. Anyway Point is I got FOOD POISONING! don't go here if you value your life, or your taste buds.

Oct. 2021 Updated Review - We went to the VHC for our anniversary last night and once again we were blown away with how delicious the food is. The spinach dip is phenomenal and the fish and chips I ordered were amazing too! If you’ve been hesitant to go vegan, give this place a try and I assure you that you’ll be convinced! The staff is also excellent. Our waiter Tino last night really made us feel welcome and they really contributed to the “at home” feel of the VHC. Highly recommend to anyone!
