I visited Seven Shores this weekend after a birthday party. We came with about 7 people and waited at the front for a few minutes before being told to seat ourselves. Once we picked a table and were ready to order we were directed to the front counter where the menus and cashier was. I picked out an omelet (which was quite good), it came with some tasteless toast and tasteless cantaloupe. I then paid - and included a tip as i assumed would be for service. I sat down and waited for my order. 5 minutes later the waitress came by and told us that our coffees would be coming one by one on the near by counter - if we wanted water it was also available at the self-serve table. I then went to the counter to make my coffee and bring it back to the table. 5 minutes later the waitress came and brought me my omelet and quickly whisked away. I flagged another worker to ask for cutlery - this is yet another self-serve item - i proceeded to the counter to find cutlery. I paid $12 with tax and tip for a half decent omelet, crappy toast, and tasteless fruit. Our food came one by one and half of us were finished before the other even had their plates. My Saturday mornings should be easy and hassle-free, if i wanted to serve myself i would have stayed home! I can't see the appeal of this place, and i shall not visit again.

Very cozy work co-op owned by the workers, and with no net profit, bringing the prices down. Great spot to push tables together for a big group, have a nice date with someone special, or lounge outside and read a book. They have these cool Hitcher's lemonades I would definitely recommend.

Used to be my favorite place until new owners, don't expect anything to be out in the morning on time like Vegan loafs or a variety selection or fresh food after 2pm. Coffee is mediocre at best considering the selections close by, same goes with the loose leaf tea. Everything really has slipped in quality and convenience, don't expect them to be open any time during their 2 week holidays from Christmas to Jan 4th.

Really good spring rolls here! All vegan too. Breakfast was good and the place is super nice. It has outdoor seating and beautiful interior. Lot of folk come by here on our Sunday brunch. It’s right next to UpTown so it definitely does attract a crowd. We would love to come again for the spring rolls and also try some of their desserts/pastries :)

The staff here are so lovely! The coffee is amazing and there's a really nice feel to the place in general, very welcoming. It's also a great location, super chilled just off the main road but still nice to sit in the sun and chat, work or people watch.

I decided to check this place out for the first time today and it certainly won't be the last. I ordered an iced latte with maple syrup and it was perfection - just the right balance of espresso, milk and syrup. I also got a nut butter M&M cookie and a vanilla peach scone and they were also both quite delicious (especially the cookie). The atmosphere is cozy and they have plenty of outdoor seating (which would have been great had it not been so hot today). Another thing I appreciate is that they have a little play area for toddlers/kids, so it's also very family friendly. The customer service is also awesome. I'll definitely be back!

A nice order-at-the-counter type of place. The brunch is affordable and reasonably priced. We had the pleasure of enjoying a live band while we had a brunch meal. The place is children friendly and even has a play corner set up with kids activities.

Great food and great atmosphere. I love that it is always busy as that lends a sense of excitement. A couple of points to note for first timers: food is freshly prepared so don't expect it to come instantly after ordered. Also, the kitchen is not walled off and the ventilation is weak at best, so you and your clothes will leave smelling like a kitchen when you leave.

Great little community Cafe in the heart of uptown Waterloo. They serve breakfast and lunch, and are open till 3 for full menu with a limited snack menu available till 5, 4 on weekends. Lots of seating for students and others working on laptops, with free wifi and refills on drip coffee. The uptown omelette, urban farmer and egg and old cheddar are classics.

Staff always have smiles on their faces and the seats are almost always full of people enjoying their specialty drinks and delicious gluten free scones. I'm not a daily regular (as many are), but can usually be found at Seven Shores at least once a month for a meeting in their great 12-15person private space drinking a tea steamer. This cafe is an integral part of uptown and the local food community. Highly recommended for coffee meetings, healthy snacks and a clean, urban atmosphere.

Found this cafe in uptown Waterloo and really loved it. Perfect spot for brunch and coffee dates. Staff is friendly. They have open patio with quiet atmosphere. I got fresh spring rolls - perfect for vegetable lovers, buttermilk pancakes were best. Got macchiato that was good as well.I highly recommend this place and will visit again for sure.

What a cool spot to enjoy a delicious variey of treats, breakfast or lunch. The coffee is amazing too. I had a vegan oat square that was to die for. Everything is made from scratch on location. The location is great and the seating area is very cozy. This is definitely a gem.

$35 for browned tip lettuce salad, pocket sized veg soup with microscopic kale, glilled ham sandwich & and a coffee. 1 of the stars is for taste. For a place that seems pro-health, the seasoning was relatively tasteful. Also saw a waitress microwaving something in front of the counter...try hiding the microwave behind the counter or to the back of the kitchen to avoid giving off the appearance that food is being re-heated.

My favourite thing about this cafe is that they make their baked goods fresh in house and they usually have 1-3 vegan options which is rare for baked goods at a cafe. Ive seen them make vegan cupcakes, banana loafs, muffins, cookies, granola bars, lemon squares, sticky buns all kinds of things! They also have great, healthy foods. The soup of the day is occasionally vegan as well and they have oatmeal, spring rolls, hummus and veggie dip and a veggie burger that you can modify to be vegan. I eat here and study here all the time and I haven’t had a bad experience. They could have easily made their two washrooms one for male and one for female, but they chose to go with gender neutral signs instead which is very nice and makes customers more comfortable. I just wish they were open a little later.

This place is "good vibes only" sort of a place. I don't know what is about the place that it just feels like a peaceful safe space in the chaotic uptown. On a sunny day you will have all the sunlight coming in and making the perfect breakfast environment, and their food compliments the vibe. My favourite is the turkey panini but I have tried other things and everything has been great, really good portion size as well. They also have the best Mocha in the city and probably the best scones. Breakfast doesn't get better than this in Waterloo

Adorable, super cozy spot with rustic, wood-accent decor. Their breakfast food is excellent, simple, and light, which I find to be very rare with breakfast food as it's often made too heavy, rich, or greasy. Most specifically, they make some of the best, light, fluffy, airy, thin pancakes I've ever had. Also, the orange slices tasted actually fresh and refreshing! I love coming here for breakfast or brunch.

This is my favourite local cafe. The service is so friendly, and the food is delicious. We were at their Mother's Day tea today and it was the PERFECT way to spend the afternoon. I cannot recommend this place enough.

It was very busy when I visited the place but I really enjoyed it. It's got a homey and cozy feel. People had their laptops opened and working away or chatting over drinks and baked goods. I went at around noon-ish on a weekday in the summer and there was live music on the patio. Prices are good, selection is great and just an all-around awesome place :)

Delish. I had a Chai latte, and a ginger cookie. The cookie was perfect for dunking. I found it a wee bit pricey, but the latte and cookie were huge. My hubby had the chocolate milk, not overly sweet which is great. He had a raspberry pistachio muffin. And was delicious.

A little expensive but worth it all. The cappuccino with fall-spice was so yummy. The eggs and cheese were perfect. And get their famous spring rolls early. Start serving at 10am and they soon run out. Must visit!

I really like this place. For only a couple dollars more than McDonald's, you're getting very delicious, healthy, ethical, and environmentally responsible food. Not the fanciest interior decor, but the outside is great in nice weather, and frankly, I'm going here for the healthy, yummy food. It's also a coffee shop, so some people do stay for awhile. Extremely nice and polite folks. Organic snacks at reasonable prices from a side fridge on your way out, with no waiting!

What a lovely place, such a great atmosphere and delicious food. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food to your table. I’ve heard it can get busy and take a bit to get your food but it would be worth it! We didn’t have to wait long on a weekday morning. We were too early to try the spring rolls but heard that they are the best, so will definitely be back!

Nice place, very friendly staff. On Fridays there are sticky buns that are so good. I wish there were more vegetarian options. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. You pay at the counter and place your number at the table and wait (not table service). There is also a community room for rent.

It's a nice place. It fits the genre of the New Age wave/increase of hipster-like young folks cafe and eatery. A comunity minded cafe but with a posh flavour. Last time I was there a group of folks beside me were planning some kind of actvist campaign directed at subverting instituinalized patriarchy. Which is great. Inclusive, gender neutral bathrooms hower i think it would be difficult manuvering an assisted walking device or wheel chair inside as the space is a little cramped. The food is great, the coffee is great, they have delicious baked goods. It's been packed every time i've gone there. Not a great place to do homework or study unless you're on your own as the tables aren't large enough on account of the cafe's popularity. They pay their employees a living wage so major kudo's to them for that. The fare is expensive but understandably so.

As far as Restaurants go, there are a few key areas that a restaurant needs to do well in to run a successful and enjoyable establishment. 1st - Customer Service - The employees from the woman working at the front directly with patrons to the employees buzzing around at the rear in the kitchen, all of them have smiles on their faces, and emit a positive and friendly energy and environment. 2nd - Food - The food is not only healthy and delicious, but is carefully plated and displayed so that when you receive your food it actually looks like something you want to eat and are happy about receiving. But not only was the taste and presentation wonderful, the price+value of what you are paying and receiving is spot on. 3rd - Ambiance - The ambiance of this restaurant is amazing. Lots of natural lighting, a beautiful and shaded patio space for outdoor sitting, very subtle but great selection of music playing, and carefully placed bright and happy artwork. All of these things come together to leave you not only satisfied but eager to come back and visit again and again. My only wish is that we didn't live so far away in Toronto! Absolutely a must try!

I am finished with this place. I have bought veggies and hummus twice. Both times with rotten veggies. The first time I had food poisoning and ruined my weekend. Today I was more cautious but when I got to the bottom veggies the carrots were rotten. I took them back and the worker asked "what can he get me?". Seriously! Nothing. No offer of a refund. I am done. I will drive to another spot to grab lunch. It makes one wonder just how fresh are the veggies on your sandwich?. Pause for thought.

This is a hidden gem right off the main strip of Uptown Waterloo, lots of seating outside including a covered area. Complimentary throw blankets to use in case it gets chilly. I love that you can see right into the kitchen and see them working away making delicious treats and meals. Everything I've gotten here was absolutely 5 star, quick and friendly service. It's not hard supporting local when we have great options like this :) My fav is the peaches and cream tea latte - yum yum yum

Hot Cider was diluted -- quite disappointing even compared to Tim Hortons old powered version-- this may or may not be the same thing. The wrap for the cost was Okay at best, but quite unimpressive for the price; places have much better for a lower cost. Plus it was quite a long wait for a wrap, turkey, tomatoes and cream cheese 7-10m. Mainly i think their overpriced for what you get -- or the quality doesnt suit the prices. The latte was okay, but again after all of the previous its hard for a coffee to dig you out of a hole more or less. I've come here a few times, ive been progressively unimpressed more each time. Given the 4.6 rating im seeing, i would say this is overinflated from post COVID-19 reality we find ourselves in. I will come back here most likely in a few months and update my review if things change.

Wonderful little community based cafe. I am not a coffee drinker but their tea latte was wonderful. I had a Cream of Earl Grey tea latte that was just the right blend of sweet, foamy and bergamot. I also ordered a day old orange muffin that was just a buck, tasted homemade and was moist and delicious. All told the the latte and muffin were under six dollars. This is exactly the kind of local business I like to recommed! I would warn that this is a better place to grab and go that stay in (even were it not for COVID) it's dining area is quite small so I wouldn't choose it for a sit and chat coffee or lunch with friends but if you want to grab something and then sit outside in nicer weather or walk around uptown then this is your place!

Since the pandemic, most coffee shop's quality has drastically decreased. Fortunately, Seven Shores was able to maintain a good standard for their coffee. Their fall spice latte was enjoyable and their berry crumble bar is pretty good. However, there were at least 2 flies that I saw landed on some of their pastries which is very off-putting... Perhaps they can benefit from putting glass covers over their pastries to prevent flies from landing on it.

Funky in all the right ways. Hope your social cause seating is tight but customers seem to know this and adjust accordingly and politely. Bathrooms are nice and clean when I was there. Very very eco. Like super eco. Don't be looking for disposable anything not even evolving disposable. Place can be rented out after hours if you know the right people. Also has a separate meeting room space with French doors. Check your chair though some we saw were broken - support spindals on legs missing pieces left to put back together on window sill.

This is a nice cafe near Uptown Waterloo. It is a lot larger than a lot of cafes and offers a variety of food and drinks. I was here for breakfast and felt the food was reasonably priced, tasty and filling. It is nice to have locally owned cafes like this as they offer a really nice atmosphere that is not usually found at chain cafes.

Great place to eat especially if you want an early breakfast, I went there around 7ish, I have noticed lately not many places in Waterloo to have an early full menu breakfast but this one does, the prices are good as well, not too cheap but you can have a platter for 12$, which for me is really good considering the prices of all the places lately, between Mel's Diner and seven shores, I would pick Seven shores for sure. This was my first time here so the lady behind the counter was really helpful in helping me pick out a menu. Also the parking is convenient, there's one behind the building, sitting area is nice with wooden tables and I really liked that you have to put your own plates and utensils back in the designated area, I have tried the omelette platter and latte here which were both really good, the platter was decent sized and what I really liked here is that no body bothered me, I just sat there and did my office work on my laptop, the staff was also very friendly at 7am, I'll definitely recommend this place to others. Probably one of my favorite cafes. Their food menu is small which makes it easy to decide what to get because you aren't overwhelmed by all the options. Everything I've ordered has been delicious. I drove by this place a couple of times not knowing what it was, but often thinking that it seemed fairly quaint. Intrigued, I looked it up to see mostly positive reviews and decided to go with a friend for breakfast. And then I went again, and again. The food is always prepared fresh and very flavorful, I'm personally a big fan of the breakfast burrito. The same can be said for the pastries. All food and coffee is very well priced and quite satisfying. I'm a big fan of their coffee as well, as it has a lovely aroma and distinct taste. On a last note, the service is always fast and very friendly, they really make you feel at home. I highly recommend it for brunch or an afternoon coffee.

Seven shores is Waterloo's most cozy and friendly cafe, they have terrific food and pastry options which are all made in house. There are plenty of tables and outlets, and even a meeting room at the side they they open up when no groups have booked it. The staff are friendly and the lattes are delicious. It's a good place to meet a friend, grab a bite, or get some work done.

We were in Kitchener for an appointment and decided to treat ourselves to a nice breakfast. It was absolutely amazing. We ordered on line and picked up a breakfast burrito and an uptown omelet for a picnic in our vehicle due to it being minus 16 outside. Every single ingredient of each breakfast was carefully chosen and of an exceptional quality, brilliantly put together and cooked to perfection. Excellence right down to the packaging and service adds to the wonderful experience that we had the pleasure of enjoying today. We will be back many times to enjoy other menu items.

Limited seating, really good food, nice options (gluten free, diary free, vegetarian). The place is cute and has very quick service! I liked the atmosphere. I highly recommend for a great tasting quick bite to eat. (Bonus points because they have a lot of healthy options!).

Really great coffee and breakfast options. I love their granola bars and pancakes as well as their egg sandwich. Service is always a bit slow so don't come if you're in a hurry and need to be in and out quickly but otherwise it's my favorite local café and I would highly recommend checking it out!

Waiting time was pretty short, got a panini and it tasted great. Staff are kind and talkative. There was a tap you can just fill your drink up yourself, I really enjoyed that. Only complaint is that the place is only alright. Temperature was a little warm when we went in. Worth going to, though.

Delightful local hangout just off the main street. They prepare fresh foods every day (try soup or a sandwich!). Generous portions in a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Look for posters advertising events and other activities that take place at Seven Shores. They have a great "meeting room" space that be used for workshops, talks and other events.

7 40 am and one other customer on the patio....went in to get a scone to take out...literally there for 40 seconds yet was harassed to sign in for tracing...used to honour this place but no more...we all want to be safe but that is utterly insane...staff will loose more customers if obvious overreach like that continues.. you are in business to sell product not to bother people who literally are in establishment for a minute for take out............your response is simply NOT TRUE....IT IS NOT appropriate or warranted to demand that anyone write their name and phone number to buy a scone...you never did that in the past two years of me going there...which makes you a lier

Breakfast was very delicious. Omellete cooked with free range eggs and lots of veggies. Fried eggs were cooked exactly as requested. The medium roast coffee was not too strong with a good flavour. Everything was cooked fresh and served hot. Patio was comfortable with natural shade.
