I liked the scone (ginger/honey) I ordered, but the coffee was too small for the $2.75 I paid. Like any popular business this establishment suffers from its own success: the interior was crowded with no seating available, details like knife, butter and plate were not offered (specifically ordered eat-in), the decor spartan and the interior was much too cold and drafty (from the door constantly being opened). Service was friendly and prompt, but even Starbucks offers a better relaxed environment to enjoy a cafe experience. Too trendy for its own good?!

Not my cup ot tea...err, Coffee? The beans to me seem to be under roasted, with green bitter notes, mild to strong acidity. Price was typical + for the area, with standard service from a side window. This is coffee for people who probably like Dandeion greens, bitter melons, citrus peels, cranberries. Benifits, high antioxidants probability. Would Mallard approve..?

This place is always busy, popular with locals and rather trendy. The baked goods are *chefs kiss*, and they arguably have the best breakfast sandwich in the city, made with local bagels you can purchase in bulk just a couple of blocks away from the source (Mount Royal Bagel). Admittedly I find the coffee to be just decent and not great ????‍♀️, but also not the worst. There are booths indoors and quite a few tables outside to sit at.

It was among the worst coffee I’ve ever had in my life it was better sour when I ground up the beans They were dry like sawdust there’s no oil on the beans whatsoever. The smell is deceiving it smells good in the bag taste terrible in the cup. Very disappointing I’d like to support local business I’ve had better coffee out of a hospital vending machine

Usual fare that used to be at Fernwood coffee and Parsonage cafe that used to be to blocks over. Even has same decor of plywood seats. Coffee is good and cold brew coffee. Treats are muffins and healthy cookies. Can get good veggie sandwiches and grilled cheese. Breakfast options are usual oatmeal, yogurt and granola. Service is friendly and quick. Music is not too loud.

My corned beef sandwich was the best in ages. Just the correct amount of mustard (some places overdo it) and served up toasted with crisps. The table clean-up was spotty though but we always bring our own wipes anyway, compulsive nurses that we are!!!

I really like this cafe! They have great coffee and great food! My only issue is that I’ve seen the staff be really chatty with people they know or people who may be regulars. Guys, if you wanna stay and use your phone or laptop in this place, make sure you have enough battery and data, because this place has no wifi and no where to charge your laptop (one of the girls said “we don’t provide that cos we tend to be pretty busy... yeah right, “excellent business idea” no wonder there are many empty chairs) I travel to many places and come to Victoria for work once awhile. Never seen this. I drove all the way here today, ordered food and tried to finish some work. But my laptop died and now I have to pack the food I barely touched and go to somewhere else. Very disappointing... I feel that they just wanna your money and wish you leave as soon as you paid. Guys don’t go there. If you wanna somewhere nice and guests friendly, Try Moka on Cook or Caffe Fanstico near Fairway, or even any Starbucks. They are all busy places but there is free wifi and you can plug your laptop without any problem. Most importantly no one wishes you just get out the moment they get your money. You can sit and enjoy your coffee as long as you want.

I've gone here 3-4 times and every time I leave disappointed. Their coffee is meh(I've had drip, mocha, latte, all lacking in strong flavors) and when you order a cold brew they just hand you a can of carbonated coffee that even when you buy the sweetened one, it tastes bitter and artificially sweetened. You would think for a place that makes their own beans they would have fresh daily cold brew... Their pastries are bad. You might as well go down to Patisserie Daniel a block away that has real pastries. The first time I went there I ordered a brownie and they went through finishing the transaction only to tell me they were out of brownies and to pick something else. Disappointed, I chose a cookie that I didn't really want. It was hard and had little flavor. The next time I ordered a brownie and it didn't have a strong chocolate flavor and was way too dense for a brownie, it was like a mini kind-of chocolate brick and very similar to something you would get at Welburns. I definitely will not be going to Fernwood again even if it is the closest coffee shop to my house.

The coffee is some of the best coffee in Victoria. I've never had a bad coffee here. The sticky buns (grilled, of course) are to die for! They have a great selection of milk alternatives for those who cannot or prefer not to have dairy milk.

We ordered their 1936 Espresso beans for home espresso/latte making and were completely blown away. These are some extremely good beans! Some of the best beans we've ever had, and for relatively reasonable prices. Ordering and shipping process was seamless. We will be regular customers. Update: I’ve bought beans from Fernwood for a while but I came to feel like I wasn’t getting the full potential out of my shots so I reached out asking for their advice. They were extremely responsive and provided me with a brew guide that was extremely helpful. Getting a response from companies is much more difficult than it should be and it is not unnoticed that Fernwood cares enough to commit quality to this aspect of their business as well. Because they certainly have our business and loyalty! Much appreciated and highly recommend!

Post covid review: Honestly this is the only cafe in town that navigated the Covid protocols properly. They are open early and allow online orders. The quality and consistency is still there. The breakfast sandwich is sooo good! I wish all the other solid coffee shops in town would have followed their lead. Habit opens at 9, Hey happy wasn't opening until 10. Most people have started back at work and coffee is essential. I applaud you and your little June for being so on top of providing quality, normalcy, and consistency in this crazy world of lines and masks.

The two stars are for the coffee ... it's good, but I always find myself going back to starbucks even if the coffee is not as great as here. Why? Well the last time I went here with a friend to show them photos of my latest traveling I brought my laptop which I didnt' realize was low on batteries. To my surprise I found out here was no wifi and no plugs. This is clearly a strategic move and one I don't like so i won't be returning until this has been changed. Feel free management to let me know when it does so I know when I can return. Otherwise its back to starbucks who doesn't just provide coffee but is happy for people to meet up with friends and share photos and stories. Twice now I’ve gone, there’s no sign indicating whether it’s open or closed, no sings indicating WHEN it opens and closes. So, as I then have nothing to go on, I try the door, find it’s open, and walk in. The people milling about behind the counter then stare at me incredulously, and tell me they’re closed, with an air that clearly states I must be some kind of idiot for not knowing this. As to why it closed so early, not staying open for the large crowds at the Belfry is beyond me. Clearly a poorly-run place.

Fantastic coffee now in the heart of Fernwood. I am so happy to be able to have the best coffee in the city so close to home. Fernwood Coffee and the Parsonage have a killer combination of outstanding coffee, food and terrific customer service. The best part of their new location is that they have more seating inside and it doesn’t feel quite so claustrophobic when the line is out the door.

The line is faster than it looks. Don't get discouraged! Super friendly staff. The location could not be better and the light makes it the perfect spot for reading/working on a weekend morning. Not a fan of the canned sparkling cold brew.

As always, a good break .... Wonderful soup ... Beef barley ... Good sized bowl. Quiche was very nice, so creamy. Toast bacon and tomato sandwich (double tomato) so good. My usual "Necromancer" (whole milk latte, with double espresso shots) always good. WiFi would be nice. Thanks
