The 3 americano mistos with almond milk that we got from this place was unusually sour and watered down compared to couple other cafés we visited within the vicinity. It was a bit appalling that we were forced to pay a 15% gratuity on already expensive drinks that my friends had to suffer through and I unfortunately had to dump out. Staff were otherwise polite. As of the current situation, they do not allow anyone to sit inside.

The coffee is terrible. Ended up pouring it out because wasting it was preferable to suffering through it. The masala chai wasn't great, but as soon as it was no longer warm it was just disgusting. Poured out most of that too. The cups themselves have an odd seam that allows coffee to drip down over your hands no matter how tight the lid is on. Wasn't a problem with the chai, just the coffee. Super annoying. The service itself was fine. The people are polite, no complaints in that regard.

The coffee is as good as the other locations, but the atmosphere is totally uncomfortable and cold. Flimsy chairs, no real space to have more than two people meet up. Doesn't have the funky-cozy feeling as the other Discovery locations. Better options in this area.

Discovery has a modern minimalist interior with a chill atmosphere. The outdoor seating area feels private but airy and was perfect for enjoying my abnormal request of a single shot espresso paired with a single shot cortado. The milk in the cortado cup brought the milk ratio close to a cappuccino which I had specifically requested. The milk drink really brought out the chocolate notes of the espresso. The staff was attentive and listened carefully crafted my drink order. I would definitely come again!

The perfect coffee shop to do some work, read a book, or meet with a friend. The coffee here is delicious, the staff are friendly, the bathrooms are really nice and clean, plus they play an excellent selection of music on vinyl. This is my go-to place when I know I'll be spending a few hours reading or working. Also they have some pretty cool merch!

Discovery is in a great location and has some of the best seating for a coffee shop in Victoria. I really like that they open at 6:30am and everyone behind the coffee bar has always been super friendly. It definitely has a cool and casual vibe. It also tends to be busy (even early in the am) so if you're going there to work it might be best to bring headphones.

I've really been missing stopping here on my way to work as a part of my morning routine since this pandemic hit. Excellent coffee, feature espressos are always vibrant and fun and it goes without saying that the doughnuts are great. If you buy whole beans for home brewing they have a loyalty program which is a nice perk.

It's...pretty good. I've been here a handful of times now and have found the coffee flavour to be wavering. Or maybe my tastes are wavering? Their pastry selection is constant in its excellence. As an early riser, I really appreciate that this place opens at 6:30am. The decor is cool and the staff is friendly. The place is very, uh, hipster. I hate to use the "h" word, but both clientele and staff just fit it. I feel like an interloper when I'm in there, but it's probably my own hang up.

We walked 5 blocks out of our way because of the great reviews, but it was not worth it. Pour over coffee was acidic and tasted just plain bad. Same goes for the chocolate coconut cold brew. And the iced chai tea latte tasted like it came straight from a can. Ice cream is advertised, but they had to check if they even had some (and only had vanilla). Would not recommend!!

Despite being the most beautiful coffee shop in town, the coffee is unfortunately terrible. I gave it a few tries, but it is always bitter and deceiving. The last time I ordered a cortado and could only stomach a sip, I was stuck with the bitter aftertaste for hours. Perhaps staff need better training on preparation, grinder calibration and machine calibration. I recommend going for tea instead if you want to enjoy the great atmosphere.

None of the drinks we ordered were sweetened - got one of each of their seasonal cold drinks, a tea, a lemonade and chocolate coconut cold brew iced drink. The peach tea and lemonade tasted mild, with minimal flavour and needed sweetening badly. The cold brew was extremely strong and again had no sweetening to curb the bitterness. Saving grace was the donuts were yummy - honey and chocolate cruellers. Aso had mandatory tipping in place at payment despite it being a simple order and pick up set up. Super disappointed as the reviews were so good.

I have visited this cafe a few times before the shutdown and now once again with the to go only setup. As per usual, my go to drink is an 8oz latte and they do a good job here. If you are looking for a good coffee with well poured art this is good choice in locations. Given the current global situation, everything is only being sold to go. Suprisingly they have not set up any outdoor benches which is a bit of a let down, but if you arrive between 10am and 5pm, the Fort Commons is open with a nice courtyard and seating. Overall, I recommend this spot

This brand new Discovery location on Blanshard & Broughton may very well have bested Hey Happy to lay claim of the best coffee shop on Vancouver Island. Not only are their freshly baked doughnuts and artisan roasted beans exceptional, but the espresso bar is unreal! It's counter level without a big obtrusive machine (like what's at every coffee shop). It makes for a very personalized, interactive barista-patron experience. Love it!

On Saturday March 7, I went to that location to get drinks for myself and my wife, and food for us and our baby daughter. We were on our way to the ferry, but had allotted plenty of time. There was one person in front of me. After he ordered his drink, he and the slightly built red-haired boy behind the counter moved off to one side and had a conversation for five or ten minutes. The content of their conversation was not important, or time-sensitive, or related to his order. It was just idle chatter, while I stood there at the cash register waiting to order and my wife and baby daughter waited in the car. Given prior shortfalls in service by the, frankly, snide and indifferent staff, I decided that I would afford Discovery Coffee one last chance. Yesterday morning, I went into that location to get my daily large latte. After my order was taken, I went and waited by the side where the drinks are dispensed. After the first person who ordered after me received their drink, also made with an espresso (so not just a drip coffee), I made note of the order the cups were in - mine was fourth behind three other espresso drink orders that had been ordered after me. After another drink was made for someone after me in line, I asked the short brown-haired girl behind the counter about my drink. She replied ‘Yaw, there was a mix up in the order of the drinks’ with a ‘f-you’ look on her face. I pointed out my cup and informed her that two drinks ordered after mine had been made, and the other two cups waiting were also ordered after mine. I also said to her “not even a sorry?”. She replied, sarcastically, “oh gee, sawreee!” - again with the ‘f-you’ look. She then proceeded to make another drink ordered after mine, I can only guess out of spite, then made my drink. I had waited 8-10 minutes longer than I should have. I contacted them by email, was told the manager of that location would email me. Never happened. They have lost at least one loyal customer.

Visited on July 16, 2020. Product Quality - 5. Same high quality, excellent tasting coffee as ever. The egg bun is delicious too. Service - 1. I'm fine with the outside queue to order and pick up as a safety protocol for COVID-19. Unfortunately, the staff person behind the plexiglass screen didn't change gloves once during interactions with the two customers before me, or the one after, and there was a hole in one of the gloves. When I brought this to his attention, he just shrugged his shoulders. Side note: not thrilled with the automatic 12% "gratuity".

The only thing I don't like about this location is that it can be so loud inside. I love that they play music but the volume from many conversations can sometimes be overwhelming. Favourite coffee shop in Vic. Best flavour and smoothness for my pallet (signature espresso has notes of chocolate). The baristas also know how to steam and pour milk properly/beautifully (my second favourite part is foam). For milk alternatives they offer: Almond milk, coconut milk, and soy milk.. as for flavoured syrups and such there is only one flavour available because there is no need for more, trust me, vanilla or vanilla ????

Excellent coffee. This morning they were serving an Ethiopian blend. Its mild acidic characteristics came across very nicely. Very good medium roasted coffee. Enjoyed the coffee with a raspberry scone and a donut. Both excellent. This is my second time with Discovery. In June I enjoyed their excellent coffee at the James Bay location. At that time, if I am not mistaken, a Peruvian.

Too expensive for what it is. They charged 1$ to replace your milk by almond milk ( for a single splash). I don't mind paying but I don't like to be ripped off.

Was visiting from Winnipeg, when I realized there was no 49th Parallel coffee shops in Victoria I was disappointed … as it turned out I found this place not far from our hotel. I LOVED the 8oz cappuccino coffee I had every morning. Enjoyed the sinfully delicious crueller donut ( Yonni’s doughnuts) as well one of the mornings!

I think this place is fairly new. There were so many different baked items in the show case. They all looked delicious making it difficult to choose. The coffee was super hot which I like. There is inside and outside seating which is a must in Victoria because of the ever changing weather. Two coffee and a donut cost $11.00 with a tip included. This is about average in Victoria. Only a 5 minute walk from our hotel on the west side of downtown Victoria.

Absolute favourite coffee in all of Victoria. I have never once come here and been disappointed by the baristas pour. The drinks always taste the exact same every time I’m here and I have to assume it’s from consistent techniques. Super fast service. Friendly staff. Welcoming atmosphere.

A phenomenal local roaster producing great coffee. The staff make sure you feel like a valued customer. The auto grat. rubs me the wrong way, but there's worse - at least the baristas know what they're doing.

Stopped by today... It was stupid idea. They have not hear anything about Customer Service at all. If you’re not dog friendly, so post a sticker on the door! Rather than trying to sell me a coffee and saying at the same time that dogs are not allowed in the place. This place have a patio, but baristas didn’t offer this option, and decided do not take into account that my dog is emotional support animal, and we were going make an order to go... You have no clients in the place and behave this way. Seriously?
