Visiting from Vancouver; this café is one you will miss out on if you never plan on visiting New Liskeard. Friendly staff, great tasting coffees and teas, and a huge selection of books and games. This was a big highlight.

Great variety of books, very helpful service and a great atmosphere. They have a french section - which is a local pleaser - games, tarot cards, games magazines, and if you can't find what you're looking for, they are more than happy to see if they can have it brought in for you. On top of that, they have a great variety of coffee, teas, and other hot drinks such as hot chocolate and cider - even iced drinks for those hot summer months. Definitely a great part of our community and a must see for anyone passing through!

Very nice staff, great collection of games. I was visiting from out of town and I had only brought one game with me. While I was there, I found an expansion for my game. I also purchased another game I'm familiar with, as well as the expansion I didn't know existed. I'll definitely be back when I visit this town again!

Recently had been looking for a particularly hard to find game, and remembered Paul and his shop had carried the products : lo and behold they had an item similar - so I got in touch with the staff and they did some checking and as it happens it was the exact thing I searched all of Toronto('s hobby stores)for! I was skeptical about this place at first since small town bookstore don't really carry a lot of stuff which means I would have to buy it online and wait forever for the books to arrive. Fortunately, I was blown away by this place and it was not what I was expecting when I went inside. They serve coffee, carry a lot of games, illustrated books, mangas, novels and stationery and I just keep coming back for more! You can also order books from them as well which is great! 5/5????

Chat noir has an atmosphere that truly makes anyone who goes on feel at home, whether your a coffee drinker, reader, social butterfly who wants to hang with friends are you love games, chat noir has something for everyone and the staff is undeniably friendly and are always willing to help, they host a ton of events to bring fun to their patrons and to anyone who wants to hang out, they offer a friendly environment where anyone can come and join in and feel like they are a part of something, the owner Paul is an amazing guy who is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff and can always give advice and tip on anything, he truly cares about his business, staff, and certainly his customers. It's a one stop geek shop but at the same time you don't have to like geeky things to enjoy the large number of books and family oriented games and the delicious coffee and homebrewn drinks that they make.

I have always tried to support independent bookstores, easier when I lived in southern Ontario than now in North Bay (though shout out to the amazing Allison the Bookman for used books!) I discovered Chat Noir when Covid hit, and am so glad I did: they have a wonderful selection, of games and puzzles as well as books, are great about ordering what isn't in, and jumped in so quickly and effectively with an excellent, logical, simple way to get books to customers safely. Well worth the scenic drive to New Liskeard in every way. I'd give them 10 stars out of 5 if I could!

If you're looking for something to do, it's a great place to go play games while you enjoy a Starbucks like coffee (possibly better). The owner is awesome and very helpful. Every time I go in the store, they seem to have new books and games so they're super up to date and like I said, if you want adult time over coffee and you have the kids, go there because they have a great selection of games that the kids can play to keep them distracted but you can play too!

Great selection of games in the store. I haven't searched for any books there yet. I've been to games night on Thursdays once and had a good time. I think it's cool that they do that and I'll probably go again for games night.
