Update: We pre-ordered the stuffed bacon cheeseburger (it takes a long time to make). It is two quarter pound lean ground beef patties stuffed with chopped bacon and cheese and piled with more bacon, cheese, veg and fixings with a BBQ mayo. I could not believe how tasty this baseball of meat was. I didn't even know this restaurant existed before last week. My wife found a blog post from Winnipeg Burger Club. We decided to give it a try. It's on the corner of Panet and Turenne. After a short jog down a very bumpy gravel road, we were in. The service is pleasant and the burgers we had were moist and tasty. I had the plain cheeseburger and bacon poutine. I will have to go back and try their stuffed bacon burger (it takes a long time to make, according to the menu, and I couldn't wait). You will definitely appreciate their specials too. Where can you get a burger, fries and a beer for $13 on a Friday or Saturday?

Unbelievable food! I can't say enough about the food at The Diners Grill. I have been there for Breakfast (Delicious), Lunch (OMG SO GOOD), and Supper (WOW). First off, the absolute BEST Reuben sandwich I have ever hard, and I have had my fair share. Secondly, something as simple as a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup...guess what....the noodle were NOT soggy or soft! They were firm, and absolutely yummy. My wife had the BLT on a Pretzel bun and has been dreaming about it ever since. Now onto the burgers (Insert Homer Simpson drool).....I've had the double bacon cheeseburger, and the Reuben Burger (Must try it). Homemade, cooked perfectly, and not greasy at all. We went on a Monday for Lunch (just my wife and I), then the next day we went back with my sister because I had to show her this place, then on Friday of the same week, I took some work guys with me because they HAD to try the burgers. BUT what is really special about this place, are the owners, cooks, and staff. Friendly, down to earth people who truly care about what they do. January 2022, ordered takeaway burgers for lunch. Split the special Animal Style burger and Fatboy, and an order of fries, with my partner who is also a lover of burgers. First off, the buns were notably good. They really held together well, even after travelling for 10 minutes. But they were still soft and tasty. We both liked the Animal Style burger a bit more than the Fatboy. The burger sauce was very nice, and the simplicity of the burger overall was spot on: sauce, cheese, onions, pickles. Patty was soft and tasty. In regards to the Fatboy, the chili was thicker, beefier, and more plentiful than other classic Winnipeg Fatboys. Personally, I found the bottom bun a bit too loaded with toppings: mustard, pickles, tomatoes, onions... basically the mustard was a bit overpowering for me on this Fatboy in general. But again, the patty and bun were excellent. What I did appreciate was that this Fatboy did not feel like it was trying to imitate other Fatboys. It is unique unto itself. I expect some people might prefer this particular Fatboy to other Winnipeg Fatboys. The fries were good, even reheated at home. They are of the fatter, medium crisped variety and had a nice amount of salt on them. One order is definitely big enough to share for 2 people. Ultimately, I believe that the burgers from The Diner's Grill might rival anything else in Winnipeg, but I will need to try a few more before I can be sure. Which I will do. 2 weeks later update... I tried the Reuben Burger and a homemade soup, cabbage roll soup, and both were excellent. Lots of Reuben meat on the burger. Soup was rich and hearty. Friends ordered a Reuben sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich, both were huge and thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to eat my way through the entire menu.

I just ordered chili and fries, but it was more than just chili and fries. It also comes with shredded cheese, green onion, tomato and sour cream. All the ingredients are great and the fries look home made(hand cut). The service was quick and I'd definitely recommend this place.

This is a small mom and pop style restaurant. Everything is made by hand. The food is excellent and at a very reasonable price. We loved our breakfasts. I highly recommend this place. The people are very friendly as well.

This place is so hit and miss, like today I had half of what normally comes in my breakfast. We order a lot from here, Breakfast and Lunch. I had a half of ham normally its a full slice, 3 pieces of toast normally is 4, a spoon full of hash browns, 2 small slices of bacon and I had to get my sausage from a fellow employee because I didn't have any. I paid 13 bucks plus tax for the Dinners Breakfast. I will not be going back due to this, and it's not the first time. Its cheaper to go to McDonalds or Sals and you get more. I am sorry but its the last straw. Most of the employees here agree its so hit and miss. Looks like were back to fast food very disappointed.

I work nearby and was intrigued by this place-there aren't many mom and pop restaurants in this area. I phoned my order in ahead of time for pickup. The lunch special was a bacon cheeseburger with your choice of side- I chose the chicken noodle soup. When I arrived to pick up the order the first thing I noticed was the hand sanitizer on a table next to the door. There was no one currently dining in the restaurant while I was there but it was a bit early for lunch-11am. The owner's young son was there watching a video on his tablet and he said hello to me. I went to the cash register and picked up and paid for my meal. The lady was very friendly as was her precocious son who urged me to come again which made me laugh. The burger was packed with toppings and was nicely seasoned, but what really stole the show was the soup. It was prepared from scratch which included a very flavorful stock. It was packed with noodles, chicken and vegetables. It had an ever so delicate aroma of star anise which was an unusual surprise that I enjoyed. I'll definitely be back to try some other items and I'm looking forward to dining in when things settle from Covid a bit more.

The only good news in this review is that the portions were large. The bad news is the food was almost inedible and a major disappointment to us. The Reuben, while large, was over greasy and the sauerkraut was a 'one lump' mess. The crunchy chicken sandwich turned out to be disappointing also, a badly burnt batter covering a thin portion of chicken. The side of fries was badly burnt. The server, while very pleasant, was not at all concerned about our comments on the poor quality of our two meals. We will definitely not return. Advise you give this place a miss.

The diners grill is a place I have been dying to try and we went for breakfast .... I ordered the diners breakfast and my guest had the classic. Her meal was wonderful she had the eggs basted and a good portion of breakfast I ordered my eggs over easy as I like dipping my toast . my breakfast arrived and the eggs were sunny side up and instead of complaining I just tried to eat them but the tops of the egg whites were still very runny so I apologized and sent them back ...as I had ordered over easy and not sunny side up when I got the plate back I only received a couple of pieces of toast back and they were small and now very burnt and the over easy eggs were still just way to undercooked and runny ... I don't like the raw egg whites ... but I do like to dip my toast. so I was very disappointed with my breakfast but with that said .the potatoes and meats were delicious .some of the best breakfast potatoes anywhere. I will try it again but next time we are going to ask for over medium eggs as runny eggs (egg whites) just make me feel nauseous ... the service and coffee were also fantastic so I will chalk this up to the way I ordered and hope that next time the eggs are better cooked if I order over medium ... I also really hope that they didn't serve me deliberately black burnt toast because I sent the eggs back and it was just an accident ... definitely willing to try it again for breakfast and am really looking forward to trying the burgers ...

You have to try this hidden gem. My husband discovered this great diner. I love the decor. The service is very friendly. The burgers and poutine are so very scrumptious! My new fav burger place. This place has excellent decor and great food with very reasonable prices! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 is because it took them very long to get us our food, and the place was not even that busy. Definitely worth eating here though just be prepared to wait a while for your food.
