I've tried hitting this place up for breakfast a few times now with no luck, it's been packed solid every time I've gone, so I figured it must be something special. I finally managed to get there for supper and I'm happy to report I wasn't disappointed. The place is small, but cozy. Menu is pretty standard fare, with an all day breakfast option. The entrees were large and arrived quickly. Wait staff were helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained, which for me is the true calling card of an eating establishment.

Always have a good experience coming here. Food is good, service is good - if you get a coffee they'll always fill it before you run out. Prices are okay, the daily deal is usually a pretty good bargain. Feels like a small, humble restaurant. Bring a date there and have a small meal - get a dessert at the Dairy Queen next door. Maybe get some friends and get food before you run the escape room just around the corner.

First time there. Excellent food. Sign of a good breakfast spot is sunny side up eggs and they did a great job. Good service. A bit of a wait but not long. The only issue is it's a small space generally and kind of cramped. Would go again for sure.

Went for breakfast and it took 45-50 minutes to receive our meals. They seemed to be overly prioritizing the Skip the Dishes orders. My boyfriend even called 5 minutes beforehand and asked if it was busy and they said no. Also the waitress didn't ask my boyfriend if he wanted a refill on his coffee until we were eating the last few bites of our food. The food was good, but I likely won't be returning because of the poor experience we had.

Great tasting food but the service was off. I realize they were busy but when you order drinks and then only 1 comes amd the 3 tables seated after us have drinks and/or soup before the second one comes that's just getting your priorities mixed up. Overall a good restaurant but probably best to wait until they're slower. Didn't help that 1 table was clearly done with their food but was allowed to stay and take up that table while people are still trying to come in. They were there with food packed up when I arrived and we left 5 mins before close and they hadn't even put on their coats. Gotta keep that traffic flowing.

I was looking for a restaurant in Winnipeg that served a nice garden salad. My elderly father who resides at a Winnipeg nursing home had a hankering for some good old fashioned salad, and I noticed Seine River Cafe came up on my search. Took the chance and bingo! My dad was over the moon lol. He said he hasn’t had a salad as good as that in years ???? - fresh and tasty. If a restaurant can get the basic salad to sing, you can be sure their other offerings will be just as great. Thank you for making my dad’s dinner a great one!

Really good breakfast. Perfect portion sizes. The breakfast poutine is very creative, and rather good. The hollandaise sauce was also very good. Service was a touch slow, as the restaurant was packed, and I was never offered a water refill, I had to go out of my way to ask for it.

Love this place! We usually go for breakfast but their lunches are awesome too. (I've never been for dinner but I think they serve that too) It's always packed so please be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. Staff is super friendly and the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. (It's no wonder why they are always busy) You won't be sorry for stopping here!

Still the best liver and onions in the City for the price and the taste. Or try the seniors menu. We used to go for breakfast every Saturday morning, but found it to noisy and the chattering was almost deafening at times. They re-painted the place, but the carpet should be replaced about 10 years ago. Maybe an upgrade on the menu is in order too.

They have the best shredded hashbrowns in the city. I don't get there as often as I used to, so not sure if it's still like this (it's been 2 years) but I found the hashbrowns were golden fried to perfection on Wed-Sun. It made me wonder if Mon-Tue was the preferred chef's days off. They also have sugar-free syrup for those who are diabetic. You also can't go wrong with their cheeseburger poutine.

We go here at least two or three times a month, very good food with reasonable prices. Lots of weekday specials so you can always find something you'll like. Fast, friendly service in a clean restaurant. We came for breakfast and were greeted and seated very quickly and coffees came shortly there after. Menu had a good variety to offer and the prices were reasonable (not expensive and a couple good deals). Food was tasty and good portions. The eggs and sausage was good value at 8.50, and the breakfast poutine pictured was good value as well. Pan fries I recommend over the standard shredded hash browns. Overall great breakfast spot and I'd highly recommend.

Friendly staff but it's a fairly dirty location. I ordered eggs benedict w/ hash browns and side bacon and they had to come back twice. Once to tell me they could only offer me shredded hash browns and the next was to say they were out of backbacon and that they could substitute it for strip bacon. Then when I got the meal the English muffin was fairly burnt. Overall the staff are friendly and they are always offering coffee refills but it was very disapointing meal for $15.

Horrible Service. Did not do initial check back on my meal. Did not give one refill on my drink. I guess they expect me to gag on my food, not considerate enough to give me water even. Just gave me the bill without a thank you. I gave a dollar tip because that's all my server deserved. Will never ever spend my hard earned money again in this place. It seems like they hold grudges and can't fix the situation nor apologize for the lack of great service. I don't care if you work in the industry for a long time or not You don't argue or be offended you fix the problem. If your not taught how to give proper service to new clients you better just stick to your regulars. I've been in the restaurant industry for over 16years. If you as a restaurant can't take honest criticism. You'll never get better cause in the long run. Same routine same style of service. All individuals are different. Show the guest a great time and welcome them in. Never ever think of them as a number!!!

My friend enjoyed his sandwich, and he's particular about his food. I had the Mexican skillet and it was excellent! Definitely will be going back!

Came here because it was close to work and I really don't recommend one bit. The poutine had one block of cheese on the bottom, fries and then pounds of gravy which tasted really old. Coleslaw was dry, not a drop of any liquid so it was basically just vegetables and then the chicken fingers were bland and the batter immediately fell off leaving wet fingers... plus they told me a wait time of 15 minutes and waited for around 30. Waitress literally just threw the bag on the table and walked off... was not worth 18$....

I ordered food to go three times out of this restaurant as it's close to work. Each time it has been almost inedible and soggy. This last time was crepes, which claims to come with whipped cream and strawberries. Not near enough strawberry topping for one of the poor soggy crepes let alone three and no whipped cream at all. Not even remotely worth the money to be so disappointed. Which is a shame, I wanted to like it as it's so close to work.

First visit at this place. It was cold and windy this evening! We were greeted and seated promptly. The temperature in the restaurant was quite cool, so I kept my jacket on through the evening. Hubby had the liver and onions and was very happy with the texture and flavor. Their oven wasn't working this evening so the option of baked potatoes was removed. For ordering off the 55+ menu, he received a generous serving of hashbrowns, liver, pile of fried onions and green beans. My Reuben sandwich was good. The soup was a tomato beef barley that hit the spot. Thick, lots of flavor and just the right amount of 'kick'. We will be back!

I ordered the roast beef at lunch today. The menu said it came served in a Yorkshire pudding, which was why I ordered it, but it didn't. The luke warm over done roast beef (not even a suggestion of pink) just came on the plate covered in luke warm gravy. The gravy and the very lumpy under cooked mashed potatoes tasted more like roast carrots than anything else (which were not on the plate). It was fine I guess but I wouldn't order it again. The meal was cold by the time I could finish it. The waitress was friendly but was very rushed and probably only spent 30 seconds in total interacting with me which is fine just not enough to make me feel like my custom was valued. I don't think I'll go back.

Quick with the coffee and taking our order, table of 4. Two tables that sat after us received their meals first and when my table mates received their breakfast, moderately busy, theirs were cold. A quick remake on one, which was good response time to a cold dish, still not the greatest experience. The meals were okay. Pan fries were steamed or boiled potatoes lightly griddled and not very crisp, rather mushy. Great refills on the coffee though. First time dining, probably won't return or recommend.

I have been several times to the Seine River Café -- a place introduced to me by a late friend who wisely promised "You are going to love it!" -- and I can heartily recommend it. Not only is the food incredible -- varied menu, high quality ingredients, delectable well prepared meals -- but all the staff I have met have been outstanding. My only 'criticism' would be that the coziness during quieter times becomes (over-) crowdedness at peak hours. That said, most patrons seem to be quite friendly, too. It is a truly lovely place to go to enjoy good food in a homey atmosphere. Google compared it to Perkins, I suppose based in part on atmosphere and in part on the menu. The quality (if not perfection) of Seine River Café is what Perkins seeks to emulate. With reasonable prices, comparable to the aforementioned franchise, do yourself and your party a favour and experience dining as it should be. And no, I am not paid for this praise nor related to any staff, management or owners. Seine River Café is simply one of the best restaurants in which one could hope to dine. Kudos to them!

I almost wish it wasn't so tucked away so more people found out about it, but I guess that's also part of the charm. The worst part about this place is that their hours aren't the best, but that's totally excusable, I think they market as more breakfast/lunch than supper.

Honestly, this is the worst breakfast I can remember ever having. I ordered the eggs Benedict. It was absolutely smothered in Hollandaise sauce, that was pale, gloopy and tasteless. The sauce had started separating so there were little pool of oil forming on it. I was so hungry I poured some salt on and tried to get through it. I could only finish half before the sauce had congealed into a messy blob most closely resembling snot.
