I went there one and it was the last time. The waiter show us the menu and that they have 5 flavours of soups , and that the sandwich was $10 and there's a combo with a Small soup should add $2 . I ordered a sandwich with a small bison chilli and bill came was charging $10 for the sandwich + $7 for the soup and I asked that was a combo and the Waiter said that that soup flavour wasn't on the combo and that he forgot to say that. Food is good but the service is a rip off, stay away from this place.

Can't say enough good things; the quiche of the day and soup was delicious, the hombre made ice cream was out of this world, and the staff was super attentive and helpful too. First time at Dug and Betty's. Was hoping to order a burger but they had an eclectic menu. Didn't realize it was the same owners from inferno's. The waitress was also quite grumpy. The place is definitely overpriced and not enough food selection. Did not try the ice cream but I'm sure it would taste great.

I love ice cream so was looking forward to trying this place. It did not disappoint, in fact it was much better than expected. I don't think I have every had ice cream that is as creamy and smooth and tasty as this place. Even though the ice cream is pricey, it is well worth the treat! I need to go back. I enjoyed a sandwich beforehand, the smokey ham and cheese one, and it was really good. Only draw back was it took a long time to get it. If not in a hurry, this won't be a bother. Good job Dug & Betty's!!

Fern and family are amazing at what they do. First, their amazing dishes at Infernos and now, their icecream parlour across from their restaurant. So far, we have tried strawberry balsamic, espresso, dark chocolate/cherry and matcha. The matcha was strong for our liking, but man, the others were amazing!! We will be back to try the other flavors for sure!! Outdoor window for the moment, but they project that the indoor seat in, will be ready in about two weeks. Good job you guys ????

Not only do they have awesome premium ice cream (not that fake tasting DQ stuff) but they're food is mind blowingly good! You don't expect it from an ice cream place. They served me a masterpiece of a chili dog. I did have to wait about 10 mins which is was well worth the wait. Also gave me time to enjoy my ice cream. I'm a fan of dessert before dinner but don't tell my mom that. I was happy with the food, dessert, and service! If you haven't tried this place you have it! A true gem of Winnipeg.

April 2020: Went there on a Wednesday night at the end of April, still during the covid pandemic. The lineup was easy to understand and people were respectful of social distancing. Line took maybe 20 minutes, not so bad. My partner and I split a flight, which is 4 scoops. Great deal at $9 ($10.08 with tax). Flavours tried: cookie monster, dark chocolate and sour cherry, strawberry balsamic honey and black pepper, and ube (I believe it rhymes with lube). Standouts for us were the chocolate/cherry and the ube. The cookie monster was a lot of fun and had chunks of peanut butter and chocolate in it. The strawberry etc was good, but to us both it tasted like strawberry and we could not detect the balsamic or pepper, which we were excited about. It was very good strawberry ice cream though, and had chunks of actual strawberries. The chocolate cherry was a slight disappointment in terms of flavour as well, but we didn't mind. It tasted of delicious cherry, and the jammy bits were slightly sour, but again a flavour was missing: chocolate. The ube was mild and tasted a bit like taro, if you've had, or slightly nutty for those who are less experienced with niche flavours. The texture was spot on, not overly rich but still very smooth. It is a very dog friendly place (named after a couple dogs) and they have doggy cones. There was plenty of parking in a lot across the alley, just north of the establishment. Lots of space to stash a bike as well, and there were a few there. We will definitely be back to try other flavours, hoping that they live up to their names. Update July 2021 lunch: excellent food and service! The Rueben sandwich was outstanding. Pickled cabbage, candied lemon, tons of meat and cheese... Perfect! The caprese sandwich was also delicious and refreshing.

What a delightful treat! The ice cream was so smooth here and had a huge variety of flavours - both classic and experimental ones! My favourite so far is the Earl Grey ice cream :) Although the patio area is a bit noisy, there are many parks nearby to enjoy a stroll or sit in the grass. Love it! And can't wait to bring my dog for a pupper ice cream treat!

Doug and Betty's is already a local favourite. That is due to their first class products and service. Watch out BDI, their is a new contender in town. Usually location having any parking issues or access trouble lose at least a star in my reviews. This just cannot deter from a perfect score. Access is off of Des Meurons St between Marion and Goulet. I suggest parking a block or so away and walking up.

We went yesterday for ice cream. It’s a fun ice cream place. Cute kids cones and great outdoor seating. But they need a completely different section for vegan ice cream. A friend wanted cookies and cream but the vegan version was terrible. She threw out the cone. It doesn’t taste the same. The food looked fine at the patio.

The icecream is homemade in house, there are a lot of flavors, some are very unique, all the flavors that I have tasted so far are excellent! They even have bone broth ice for your dogs if you bring them. Their sign says we love dogs and they really do. I highly recommend them!

I have been to Dug&Betty's for several times, and man that pistachio ice cream is definitely the best in Winnipeg! It is not easy to taste an ice cream that is smooth and perfect in the taste of pistachio. First visit to a new entrant in the ultra premium ice cream niche. Just across from Inferno's Restaurant and rumored to be run by them.Expect exotic and changing choices. Not the usual vanilla, chocolate and strawberry options.Try lemon lime, unicorn, Filipino Ube and other flavors you've never seen. It's more a sorbetto style of of ice cream. All made on premises and unique. The competition is the various sorbet bistros in Corydon or Chaeban on South Osborne. The edge belongs to Chaeban for now. D & B's is planning on serving floats, shakes and sorbets infused with wine, beer and more once its fully operational. Then we will have two distinct ultra premium craft ice cream choices! The final 5th star will come after a few more visits, I am sure. Dog friendly+++

It's a bit expensive, but you're paying for quality here and not quantity; keep this in mind if you're bringing a large family here. It's comparable to Chaeban if you've been there; personally though, I like Dug & Betty's ice cream better (creamier and full flavour). Not sure they offer any vegan options though...

Mango was a perfect mix of sweet and tangy and packed with ripe mango flavour, and the earl grey was a beautiful delicate bergamot and sweet cream, less powerful than some other earl grey ice cream and that won me over. Both flavours were wonderfully smooth and creamy. Waffle cone was crunchy. They have outdoor seating available and a few parking spaces. Worth the trip and every penny!

We were very happy when we discovered this ice cream shop. Last year when I ordered a cone dipped in chocolate -- Wow, nice thick layer of chocolate, very tasty! Their earl grey and strawberry balsamic is my favorite but the flavors I tried were fantastic! Food is okay but cheap price makes it worth it. Go there for ice creams!

So I've loved ice cream for as long as I can remember. Hands down, it is the best dessert category. The ice cream at Dug & Betty's keeps making my eyes bug out every time I have some. Like you'll audibly say mmmmm and look around at everyone nodding with their ice cream, as they mmmmm along with you. It's so creamy and velvety; when you lick the ice cream it sticks like velcro as you drag your tongue around it. And it stays cold long, down to the last bite! I'm no scientist but I assume it's because of the quality. Anyway, it's good here. Btw I love ice cream

I enjoyed a delicious ice cream at Dug and Betty’s on a warm day and this was such a cute place with friendly staff! The menu had so many different flavours of ice cream and the vegan and gluten free options were clearly marked. I was pleasantly surprised at how many vegan sorbets and ice cream varieties they offered! They also have free samples so you can try different ones before you order. Everything is handmade too! Their menu online also shows that they sell salads and other cafe meals and drinks. Their indoor dining area wasn’t open yet but there were tables and benches outside on the patio. I ordered a strawberry banana sorbet (vegan) in a gluten-free sugar cone. It was so tasty and one of the best vegan sorbets I’ve tasted! Super creamy and thick and there were real chunks of fruit in the sorbet. Amazing! I will definitely be back to try more flavours.

Ice cream is good, however NOT worth $6.50 for a scoop and $8.50 for 2 scoops, and if you want a waffle cone it’s another $0.65. Paid $20 for 2 ordinary ice cream cones, the most expensive ice cream I have ever had in my entire life, even 529 charges half of that, can’t justify that price range, this just makes so hard to support local businesses!

Enjoyed a delicious ice cream cone with a friend today. I was in shock, however, when I was charged $13 + change for 2 cones!!! Is this price because of COVID and business owners are trying to make up for lost time? (It certainly seems that way at 'big box' stores, anyway.) Or was it this expensive previously as well? I realise that the days of paying a nickel for one scoop and a dime for two scoops are loooong gone, but COME ON!! $6 for one scoop and $850 for two??!! Much more than ice cream! My cousin brought me here saying that they had amazing house-made gelato. We ended up ordering lunch as well and everything was delicious! They have a daily quiche, a few soups, sandwiches and salads on the menu. They also serve their daily bread with butter while you're waiting for your food. I had the beet grilled cheese and I absolutely loved it! For desert, we share a flight of 4 kinds of gelato which allowed us to taste more than one flavour. Amazing!

I went to Dug & Betty’s on a Saturday for lunch, and it’s now my new favourite Saturday spot. The kale caesar salad was top notch. Raw kale is often too dense and bitter imo, but this was by far the best kale caesar I’ve had. The tahini miso dressing and sumac croutons made the dish. The beet grilled cheese may have been my favourite - beets, whipped feta, pistachio honey spread????For a sandwich, it’s a little on the sweet side, so if you’re looking for a really savoury sandwich, it might not be the one for you. But if you appreciate lighter flavours, then I highly recommend. The egg-bagel sandwich was also great. Very classic flavours and the texture of the bagel was perfect. Of course, we had to try the ice-cream. I was weary of the strawberry balsamic honey black pepper ice cream because it easily could have just sounded good but not delivered. It was the best ice cream I’ve ever had. And I don’t really like ice cream. The atmosphere was also lovely. Charming and comfortable without trying too hard. All in all, great place, food and super reasonable prices. If you’re thinking about trying Dug & Betty’s I highly suggest you do. Shout out to the whole team, the service and food was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back!

They should stick to icecream. First off, I love their ice cream, but I decided to get the caprese sandwich on my lunch break one day. So first it took 20 minutes to make 2 sandwiches when we were the only customers there. My sandwich was toasted and soggy at the same time. On a recommendation ordered 2 lobster Mac and Cheese for take out!! Hot, fresh and tasty! A must have on the menu.The salad very tasty too. Certainly will be a returning customer. Support local!!

Ordered a pint of pistachio ice cream off skip the dishes and was so impressed!!! Obviously if picking up is an option I'd suggest that but if not delivery still didn't disappoint. BEST ice cream not only in the city but the best I've ever had. Can't wait to try more flavors :) 10/10

First sit-down restaurant meal since COVID-19 restrictions began in Winnipeg. Chris was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The place was hopping behind the counter and outside, with people lined up for their ice cream and enjoying a meal outside. It was 35°C, so we stayed inside and had the entire place to ourselves. Starters - Carrot and Ginger Soup - Rich blend of flavours in a coconut base. Nice texture, bright colour; even better taste. Our Dishes - Lobster Mac and Cheese - Just the right sized portion of a rich, tasty dish. - Rice Bowl - Excellent blend of flavours in a vegan-friendly offering. Other protein options can be added. - Roast Beef Sandwich - with tomatoes and greens, along with wild mushrooms and brie cheese. A bit messy to eat, but a savoury feast. Dessert Hard to believe we had room for dessert. - Vegan Cookie Dough Ice Cream - Coconut Chocolate Fudge Oreo Ice Cream - Tiramisu Ice Cream All were rich and velvety. One scoop was plenty! Can't wait to go back and try more.

A little ice-cream place tucked into the corner of the city. It has the most wonderful vibe, with friendly workers and a great selection of homemade ice cream. I haven't been there for lunch yet, but I am anticipating the quiche on the lunch menu.
