I’m staying at the campground behind Sylvia’s cafe and I can’t think of one negative thing to say! The campgrounds are quiet and have reasonable privacy given the fact that there’s little brush on the ground around here. The washroom and laundry facilities are always clean, heated, and smell nicer than any campground bathrooms I’ve been in. For how well maintained the place is, the cost is more than reasonable.
The one thing I will mention is that the wifi isn’t the best. There’s a large group of tree planters currently staying on a different part of the property who share the same network. This slows it down however, I work from my laptop and can still do everything I need to without a problem. Don’t expect FaceTime or Zoom calls to hold a strong, steady connection though. I was expecting it to be worse given their rural location.
The cafe itself has excellent service and food. I tend to prefer home cooked meals over restaurants but I find myself walking down for at least one meal a day because it’s just so good. Lots of yummy Ukrainian food to try too. Everything is kept clean and social distancing is in effect but, if you don’t feel comfortable dining in they’re more than happy to make your meal to-go.
Inside the cafe, there’s also a general store that sells all the basic necessities you could need. They’ve saved us once or twice when we realized we were missing something half way through cooking.
Overall, I’m extremely impressed. The staff and people around here are incredibly friendly and accommodating and within a day you’ll feel right at home.
