OK, a very classic location for late night goers. A brilliant selection of poutine, and even vegetarian options. Unfortunately, the staff, and shift manager are less than polite, and courteous. Also, they charge for water (they force you to buy bottles), which is a huge no-no for locals, or any Canadian. Water is a human right. Regardless, still a fun place...for take out.

Widest variety of poutine. Veggie Greek poutine and Strawberry Dream poutine are best ???????? One large poutine is enough for 2 and costs around like 11+tax.

Went out with my girlfriend to grab some poutine. We asked for a tex mex and a regular but instead got two regular poutines. They were cold at the bottom, the gravy was so thick they forgot to put water in it, and it very dry overall. We also got two burgers that were extremely underwhelming in flavour and very messy basically falling apart when you hold it. I think they bought the burgers frozen from Walmart. I wasted $50 on this. Their breakfast is good though.

This place clearly needs help, but the one woman who must have been a waitress/host to take orders was totally over run and thus was pretty rude and unfriendly to us. Felt like quite a burden coming to et there though it didn't look too busy. But there was no exception for her taking her mask off then touching food without washing her hands etc. Pretty gross if you ask me.

Beware when ordering certain items online, as not all descriptions are correct. I ordered pizza rolls through Skip because the description said "pastry filled with melted cheese and tomato sauce".. it wasn't until I bit into it that I realized it was filled with pepperoni. I haven't eaten meat in 4 years, so it was pretty gross. When I called to inform the restaurant of the issue, they apologized and hung up without any offer to refund the $10+ that I spent for food that I couldn't eat.

The variety of poutine is awesome. One can literally get any flavored poutine here. Small poutine is a bit expensive but large is totally worth it. Large poutine is enough for 2 people.

I don't think you could do poutine better. Whistle Stop Rib Poutine is my go to, kids got Three Pigs and Pulled Pork Poutines, all amazing. And even better is the people running it. I'll be back to eat in next time, we were on the run yesterday.

Highly overpriced for what you get. The fries I received were slightly raw, the battered mushrooms was soggy, the batter was under cooked and raw. Not a whole lot of flavor in this poutine, cheese was good. Regular size (quite small) priced at $11 and large size for $13 ridiculous pricing structure. Costco has better fries than this and it cost quarter of the price. Customer service was good, however, I was there for the food so the two stars are for the service. They have 100 types of poutine on the menu, how many types can they actually make very well? Never going there again. Not worth it.

Friendly staff who have fun that's for sure. My favorite poutine is number 31. I always get a large it feeds 2 people for sure. They load their poutine up. Homemade fries too. A large order is heavy too. It feels like carrying 10 bags of milk. Tip them well cause they are really great friendly and funny people. If you need to cheer up. Go in the whistle stop even if your not hungry. They will make your day or night entertaining.

Never ever will I grace your door agian. I was part of the weekend breakfast crowd. Kids wanted poutine and the lady at the counter was so rude. I walked in the wrong door and the cranky staffed actually yelled at me across the restaurant. Way better staff and food around town.

Such a cool spot! Had a hard time deciding which flavour poutine to order, but thoroughly enjoyed the McStop (bigmac-themed) one I finally decided on. My husband's burger was juicy, and we can't wait to dig into the award-winning butter tarts once we have room for dessert. Would totally recommend. EDITED TO ADD: Buttertarts are AMAZING.

Delicious! Friendly service and HUGE portion sizes for the price. Really reasonable. I love the fact there was so much cheese curds in it that I couldn’t even finish it all, usually that’s not the case, other places would lack the cheese and I didn’t even order extras. This is definitely a local gem. Got the honey garlic poutine and it did not disappoint! Large enough to share between two girls. Highly recommended!

Service is quick, and polite staff. This place has huge sitting area whether for a small or large group of people. Nice atmosphere and menu is pretty broad. 1 star less for the food did not seem too fresh, for stance the fries had chunks of black potato pores.

I wanted to like this place and I’m sure if you’re someone who likes meat, it’s much easier to do so. First, I’ll say the fries are perfectly crisped for a saucy assortment of foods. Second, as a vegan I was happy to see some options for me to try (not always the case with poutine). I decided to try the deluxe vegan which had mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. I thought all would be sautéed, but the green peppers were still raw. The biggest disappointment lied in the vegan “cheese” and “gravy. Lumps of plain tofu with a clear dill sauce. It’s rare that I crave to have more salt, but with lacking flavours and no salty “cheese” it was missing it. I think the tofu disappointed most as only the texture may kinda resemble and melt-free cheese. The gravy was alright, but a mushroom gravy base with give the flavours and colour that was needed. Three items would help immensely: miso, nutritional yeast, and mushroom juices. Nice try but doesn’t hit the mark just yet. My partner had a meaty dish and enjoyed theirs more than I.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this place, I love their poutine endlessly and I will continue to eat here probably forever, but I've noticed they do not care for cleanliness im the production area, every time I sneak a peek in the back its gross, and on my last visit, none of the employees in the kitchen were wearing masks. I really really enjoy their food, its cheap and delicious with huge portions but the hygeine needs to be fixed

This guys are really friendly and good at what they do, poutine is homey and Cesar is crunchy, with plenty of beacon and sauce. Bonus points to be opened late at night, when the thunderstorm abruptly shut down the patios. Just beware, the large poutine may kill you :D it is that big. Especially when it is 3 meats kind ^^ but on the bright side, we had plenty of leftovers for breakfast :)

First and last time ordering from this place. I was so excited to try this place because they had vegan poutine. I was expecting a veganized poutine with vegan cheese on it and I cant even begin to express the level of disappointment when I got my food. This was the worst poutine I've ever had in my life the gravy was tasteless and very oily and instead of cheese, they crumbled up tofu. complete waste of money

I've eaten here tons of times, but today's order was a bummer, definitely won't be ordering here again. My fries were soggy and undercooked, and I ordered a strawberry dream dessert poutine,opened the box, and was extremely confused as to how 10 funnel fries, 2 squirts of whipped cream, a teaspoon of strawberry sauce, and half a scoop of ice cream was $8.99. There was also a piece of cardboard from a box in it, which wasn't a big deal until I found a massive hair in it. Nice one Whistle Stop.

They were out of wraps so our choices were limited, also somehow they were also out of thier house salad...i dunno how that happens lol HOWEVER i got the quesadila w taco beef and it was GREAT. My gf got the club sandwich w fries and she enjoyed that aswell. The coffee tastes good was priced well and is bottomless so that gains points in my books for sure. Our server wasnt very friendly but she did her job well and was attentive. Theres a reason weve been told to go here by our friends ever since we moved to ptbo its top notch food. Can not wait to go back! Were gunna try the desert poutines!!!

Every time I go it seems the quality drops further and further. I bought a classic poutine, once I got into the car I noticed it was half empty. Stingy, mediocre poutine at best that somehow always has a long wait time no matter how empty the restaurant is. Whistle stop is long past it’s former glory

If you can dream it up - they've probably already got it on the menu. Some really interesting combinations available. Food is well prepared, and tasty, but the prices are also pretty high. I tried the small greek poutine (olives, onion, feta and greek dressing) my fries were literally swimming in the dressing, there was probably half a cup of liquid left after fishing out the fries and toppings. the fries impressively kept a bit of their crispness through the bath. As gross as it sounds, it was still very tasty! Dine in experience was lacking however - took 20 mins to get my drink, and another 10 to get my food with maybe 4 other patrons in the dining room. Still, I'll give them another go!

The vegan poutine was not what I expected. The cheese was replaced by chunks of plain tofu that didn't seem to be marinated or flavoured. The gravy didn't taste like gravy, it was more like a thickened herb sauce. I know that cheese is hard to veganize, but you can buy vegan gravy at any grocery store and tons of gravy brands are accidentally vegan. A few of my fries were burnt, but most of the fries were really good. I didn't hate it, but it was a very low-effort vegan option. Edit: halfway through eating I found some burnt macaroni and cheese at the bottom of my box. I checked the menu and I think it's probably from the mac n cheese poutine. Disgusting, and not vegan! What if that had been meat, or if I was ordering vegan because I'm lactose intolerant? That made me really question how sanitary this place is. Rating dropped from 3 stars to one star.

Always a pleasant experience! Not exactly sure why I sometimes feel uncomfortable here. Could be that the large windows make me feel seen. They have the option to take your food with you, so it's not much of an issue.

Ordered a regular poutine which cost $16 delivered... It was so tiny that it took me less than 3 minutes to eat it.... Im starving now... Thanks for nothing rip-off artists.... For comparison, I put a little 50ml bottle of my perfume next to it and some small bananas.... Won't ever get my money again.... Good God, when the driver handed me the tiny box, I felt like he was about to propose.... that's how small the box is..... Do these people have no shame??? I'd be embarrassed if I sold 50 cents worth of food for $16.... Guess I'll eat those bananas....

They only had 3 vegetarian options and 2 of them were similar with onions and mushrooms. My husband enjoyed his However for the price (which were not listed in store anywhere) he wishes it was bigger and more filling. I ended up buying nothing because out of 100 poutins, the only vegetarian options did not interest me. ???? We probably won't return.

Whistle Stop is the greatest restaurant known to man. I moved from the US to Peterborough and REFUSED poutine for the longest time because fries don't go with gravy but as whistle stop has proven, fries go with EVERYTHING. I am ashamed that its taken me this long to post a review. Since moving away I wake up at night from whistle stop dreams CRAVING that golden gravy cheesy goodness. I used to walk miles through mountains of snow to get to this most uplifting of delicacies. I plan my vacations around whistle stop and I cannot wait until my glorious return. Wait for me.

Ordered and that was good. It was quite awhile for our food, which we understood as it was fairly busy BUT if it is going to take that long it should be right and good. I ordered chicken fingers in honey garlic sauce and fries and gravy. Chicken was hard and cold - sauce was good. Fries were ok but never got my gravy and we weren't given ketchup. Also ordered the dessert poutine, mine was good everything was melted but friend's marshmallows were so stale the didn't melt. Would maybe try again, as the server was nice but it wouldn't be my first pick..

I don't know why they always and i say always have to make mistakes in the orders. It doesn't matter if i am dining-in, doing a take out or ordering from skip the dishes. It always and always has atleast 1 component either missing or wrong. I can understand running a business is difficult in such times but atleast try to give out the correct order when you're already taking 45 minutes to make a simple poutine.

The food is pretty good and a really huge selection! Biggest issue is the cooking crew not wearing masks at all when alone or with other cooks, or beard/hair nets.

One of the best poutines I've ever had. We got the original and it had the right ratio of fries to cheese and gravy. The gravy is also savoury and flavourful, but not overly salty like most poutines I've had. Overall so delicious and such great value - we got a large size and that fed 2 ppl and then plus some. This will be our pitstop if we are ever passing by again.

The food is to die for. Price is reasonable and the staff are ALWAYS helpful. If you go, make sure to go hungry. Portion sizes are massive. Also try the butter tarts. I legit dream about them.
