Looking for a cute place for brunch out of town? The Speak Easy Cafe has almost every fast food you could think of. The waitress was super friendly and responded well to any questions. This picture shows my order: half a quesadilla with fries. The servings were large and filling. Overall, it was a cute and humble restaurant.

I deliberately made this my breakfast stop on a morning drive from Toronto to Ottawa and chose it based on the Google reviews here. It did not disappoint. I had the peameal breakfast and I can honestly say it was the best such breakfast I have ever had. I ordered my eggs over easy and have never seen it done well. The restaurant has a cosy feel and there is historical mafia decor throughout in keeping with the theme. Service was prompt, attentive and efficient. I was happy that multi-grain bread was an option for my toast. The downtown location is convenient and, as an added bonus, you don't have to pay for on-street parking prior to 9 a.m. I will be back again and will make it my go-to stop in Peterborough.

I order out almost every weekend, the speak easy cafe is is probably one of my favourite places in Peterborough because of the price for the amount I get and the friendly staff and also the great food! I usually get the blind pig and it has lots of bacon, and my girlfriend get eggs Benedict and the eggs are usually perfect for being in the takeout container the whole way home!

We decided to eat here, after wandering the downtown. We got a table quickly, even tho' there's not alot of tables in here; quite a small space. The server said "hello" to people, as soon as they came in. Our food came very fast, after we had placed our orders....4 or 5 mins? The staff member was busy, but still had time to be friendly/pleasant. We enjoyed our food and would return again.

Love the speakeasy! Can’t beat the price or the food. Their house special is awesome, comes exactly as you want it and the staff make sure it’s fast and fresh. Located near the bus terminal and the ptbo square mall it’s easy to find. The location is small and I’m not a big fan of the decor but it’s cozy, and the staff make it feel inviting. Never had a bad breakfast there and would still give it 10/10 despite its shortfalls. I’d love to see them do well enough to renovate in the future. Also bonus points for having a meal program - that’s a community state of mind! Way to go!

All I got was a coffee and the fruit cup. But I’m impressed with how much you are given for only $7. I order from Cora the other day and spent $20 plus $7 skip credits and received the same if not less food and a smaller latte for $4.75. I like how the fruit is cut into smaller chunks than most places. Don’t ask why, I just do. I also asked for extra sugar and cream and got a decent amount! The one thing I didn’t like is that the orange slices looked like my 4 year old niece peeled it, but I’m used to that lol so no biggie!

One of the best breakfasts in town. Located right in the center of downtown, near everything. I had the scrumtious meet lovers omelette, which is LOADED with cheese, bacon, and sausage. Paired with the yummy dollar chips. Dining area was also recently renovated, with a cozy 1920s gangster-esque atmosphere. That lives up to the restaurants namd.

A welcoming breakfast place with meals as warm as the smiles you get. Decent prices for surprisingly filling portion sizes. All the better with the pay-it-forward program they have to help feed the local homeless. I would say the small restaurant size is a downside , but it fits the old 1920'site kind of feel. Love coming here for breakfast with my kids. Not only is it amazing food, the service is great! Super family friendly, and you get your food in just the right amount of time no real wait at all! Very very kid friendly, they bring a colouring book and crayons to the table, and they will literally make your kids whatever they want, doesn't have to be a menu specific thing! I'd say when you can leave paying for 2 breakfasts, tipping your waitress, AND paying for a meal and a drink for their amazing breakfast program(they have a program where you can buy a meal and/or drink for the homeless/hungry and they mark them down on a chalkboard so anyone can eat when they need to, amazing program!!) , only spending $26...it's a huge win in my books!

Good place for an inexpensive breakfast. As breakfasts go it was good. Eggs over easy were practically perfect. No burns and the egg whites were not runny. They served "chips" which as different. Nothing special but a nice change. Sausages were butterflies but something was a bit off. They may want to select a better brand of sausage. All in all a good deal. Staff were pleasant and professional. One customer there was being a bit difficult to the point that other customers were getting annoyed. Staff handled him perfectly. I'll be back for round two.

My go to breakfast location in Peterborough. Numerous staff members automatically know that I drink decaffeinated coffee and will put a pot on when I walk in. Always have an up to date issue of The Toronto Sun which is a big selling point for me as I enjoy a paper and coffee to start my day. The breakfast comes out quicker than I thought possible. It's fresh, hot, and cooked perfectly. The only downside I find is that the seating capacity is low and it can get cramped in there quickly. If you go on a Saturday or Sunday morning around 9-11am expect a crowd or a wait. This doesn't take away from the 5/5 star rating as the crowd is a testament to the quality of food. Prices are on point and the expected amount for the quality of food and portion sizes. (which are excellent) Lots of great breakfast places in Peterborough but this one stands above.

The best place in town to have breakfast or lunch. I order the "Blind Pig" every time I go in and have never been disappointed. Even my kids aged 9, 5 and 3 all love the place. My meal is usually $11-$12 and when I can, I'll pay $20 and have them put the change in their Suspended Meal program which helps those in need. Huge portions and great prices. I'll be heading back there soon. Maybe even tomorrow morning now that I'm craving it again!!

Pricing is pretty modest as well, and I'm quite a fan of their delayed meals program for the local community. A wonderful spot, definitely highly recommend!

We discovered this randomly, as we were looking for a place for an early lunch. I had the feta cheese quesadilla, which was a first. As somebody that loves cheese, I loved it. My wife got a custom made vegetarian club sandwich. We also got a huge basket of wafflecut fries that were super crispy. Definitely not something you can have everyday, but it was a nice meal.

Second time I been in Peterborough and ate here and well it was out of this world the food was better then the likes of sunset grill or any other big name breakfast joint around and only complaint I have is that the ham looks to be a slice of Bologna and not like a real ham slice

The food is good but they always rush out due to lack of seating. My fiance went there by himself one day and they sat him at the 6 person table. Half way thru his meal a group of 6 came in so the waitress gave him his bill even tho he wasny done and told the group they would have his table when he was done. Not professional

I went the morning of Friday April 3rd to pick up my order. The waitress, she had glasses and straight darker hair, was super friendly and helpful. The food was also perfectly cooked and delicious. My favourite breakfast place in town for good reasons. Try the "Rum Runner's" breakfast if you are feeling hungry.
