As you can read, it reaches an opinions average is very positive, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the assessment is quite credible. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Coffee Shop corresponds to the category of Coffee shop.
Chai lattes are great and a nice relaxed environment
Great coffee and donuts... Love the donuts!
I enjoyed the vegan doughnuts here and have came back for them several times. However, it's always grumpy staff behind the counter who very openly show you how they do not want to serve you. Last visit made me rethink my future visits.
Good coffee and an excellent breakfast sandwich
(Translated) I wanted to stay inside the store because it was nice. It was like a latte with a strong cheese flavor. Many people come alone and have laptops.
I love Happy Goat, but Happy Goat on Elgin not so much. The baristas were very cold, no personality, not welcoming at all! It's essential to have great baristas they make first time costumers become regulars. We ordered a dirty chai and a London fog. The dirty chai was NASTY and the London fog was, well, all fog. The espresso in the dirty chai was burnt and extremely bitter tasting. This is my go-to drink. I was extremely dissapointed to say the least. The cafe was dirty. Floors needed to be swept, there were dirty dishes all over that had been there so long they were stuck to the table. The sofa had sticky coffee stains on the arm. The counter was messy and cluttered, and as many other people have pointed out - the treats were tossed on an uncovered plate on the counter. The costumer behind me asked what the muffins were and the barista had no clue. Overall it felt very chaotic. I was very dissapointed in this location. I swear by Happy Goat! Please go to the flagship cafe on Laurel St. if you want a true Happy Goat experience.
Good times ,love the patio.
best dirty chai coconut milk latte I’ve ever had in my 25 years of life
Exceptional staff and a great cappuccino. This is my go-to for a cappuccino.
Sorry I didn't get a good vibe A bum begging on the entrance The whole place is not funny
Perfect shot of espresso! This new location was full of people with an obvious appreciation for great coffee. The wait time was a little longer than average but there was 6 orders ahead of ours. If I have to wait an extra minute or two for an espresso of this quality, it's fine by me! Smooth, rich, no bitterness, and crema until the last drop make this an outstanding espresso. Happy to have this in my neighborhood!
Quality coffee, good service and a very cozy ambience.
Cozy (they keep it so warm on these miserably damp cold afternoons) and welcoming, with superb coffee, and now beer, wine, and spirits. Joy. People, don't keep double tables all for your selfish selves! Lets agree to share the love?
Very friendly. Good coffee. Gave me pen and paper to write down ideas :)
Best coffee in Ottawa.
Best coffee in town by far! Great staff, great coffee, chill vibe.
Cozy
Love this place!
Great design, very cozy and good coffee.
Great atmosphere, awesome coffee and really nice staff.
The Best
Really cute shop, and I love their coffee! Favourite beans ever
Worst cappuccino I've ever had. The barista has no idea what she's doing.
Meh. It's cute and cozy but I wasn't thrilled. Somehow the water for my tea was only warm and not hot, so it made for a mediocre cup on a chilly day. But the tea itself was delicious (earl grey, nothing fancy) so I'd be happy to try it again, just won't go out of my way to do so.
Lovely place, good coffee and breakfast
This was my second time around at Happy Goat Coffee Co., as I've already stated in exploring my new city and slowly and steadily falling in love with it. This little unassuming coffee shop that I discovered while desperately looking for a flat white not made by a very tired commercial brand and at the same time support our local economy was a wonderful discovery,a little piece of caffeinated paradise. The first time I was taken by the quality off the coffee, this time I had the opportunity to have a nice conversation with the barista and enjoy my flat white while sitting down at the gorgeous hipster decored lounge and read some COVID-19 related news, that by the way these gals follow the Health Canada guidance to the last "T", kudos guys! Between the warm friendly convo with the barista, the splendid creamy flat white and unassuming relaxed atmosphere, I was able to forget about the troubles of the world for a while. Thanks, will return for sure once I become a definite Ottawite!
I love coming in and sitting by the window with a London fog and reading my books. The staff is great and the atmosphere is full of life.
Great coffee but very slow service.
Amazing coffee and sweets. Reping Ottawa
Nice vibe. Remarkable renovation for old Starbucks
Good drinks but sometimes can get a little busy
Awesome atmosphere and fabulous service. Treats are delicious and the coffee is always fresh!
It was my 1st time at HGC, it is remodeled from Starbucks nicely.
I'm sorry but you really need to review and reconsider how you display your pastries. How come they're displayed on a plate right where your customer place their orders?! I bought a donut and I was given one from a plate with no cover, displayed next to the cash. Hello?! Turned out that's where you display all your donuts?! I wonder how many people spit on it while ordering? Seriously. This is not right!!
We need more of these non-mainstream cafés in Ottawa !
Luv the coffee
Their display of pastries is left on the counter without being covered. Espresso was watered-down and burnt.
Wide selection of robust bean to choose from, that they will also grind to your liking—major plus. Bold Americano; perfectly in between nutty and bitter that leaves a smooth, pleasant aftertaste.
Friendly Elgin coffee ☕ shop. Smoooooth Americanos.... Friendly staff .
Excellent cafe. Ginger cookies are the best!
I was so happy when Happy Goat took over this space, and it’s been a great addition to the neighbourhood. Friendly baristas, a warm atmosphere, and strong coffee make this my favourite coffee shop in the area.
This is my second time cooking here and I love their chai latte! It is literally the best I had and I’ve had chai lattes everywhere. The wifi is fast and seating is a little limited because so many people come here. They have several locations throughout Ottawa, but I really like the Elgin location’s atmosphere.
Great coffee and friendly staff. So happy to have a local coffee shop option close to home. Love their beans for taking home too! Check them out, they've got lots of locations around Ottawa!
I love the coffee from here... the oat milk mocha is great
Top notch coffee shop in terms of cozy and stylish interior, professional staff, tasty drinks.
Great space to work, delicious coffee, funny staff and great pretzels made daily.
Happy Goat - great coffee, many options, homemade vegan snacks (both nutritious and delicious), great music selection, and a warm ambiance. I recommend the homemade granola bar! The only downside is the limited seating!
I really like the Elgin location, very cozy and comfortable The baristas are well informed and very friendly Great drinks and very good cookies
Espresso was great, tried a cortado and an americano with the house blend, both were ????. Super friendly staff and the ambience was nice, sunny, and room to move around. Highly recommend a stop here.
Great coffee and snack options. Open early. Has good seatings with charging plugs for work space.
Espresso roasted on site is bold, with rich, complex flavours. Popular with the locals and worth the trip if you don't live nearby.
Seriously amazing coffee.
Coffee is great! Love the coffee but need whipped cream! ????
Cozy place and good coffee.
Meal type
Great coffee place on Elgin! Love the vibe. When I went it was the first few days of opening!
Thank you Happy Goat Elgin for not only providing AMAZING food and beverages but also for the EXCEPTIONAL customer service. They kindly offered and drove me back to the office after placing an order that would have been awkward to carry by myself. THANK YOU! #SupportLocal #Ottawa1976
Chai was reported as "powdered" and "sweet." Disappointing.
Nice n Off the routine coffee shop!!
Great coffee ☕ and simply like no love the breakfast sandwich ????
They have amazing donuts
Try the London fog, it's absolutely delicious.
warm and cozy. great for getting together with someone
Great variety of speciality coffee available here. I'm glad that Happy Goat Co. is an Ottawa coffee shop. Great coffee, ambience and decently priced which includes great baked goods from Mavericks! Parking is limited and timed but available.
Unpleasant staff who seem to find it a sport to publicly humiliate their patrons.
It's a positive review BUT first and foremost: please wash your hands! I just couldn't believe my eyes when the guy behind the counter, emptied the garbage can and then proceeded to prepare my order WITHOUT washing his hands. Disgusting. I get it that you're some hipster or what, but please respect the basic hygiene rules. Why isn't there a sink behind the counter? Really, they're lucky I didn't make a scene, the atmosphere was so nice, I didn't want to disturb anyone. Very nice place btw. On a more positive note, the donuts and coffee were delicious. Not sure I'll come back because I'll always wonder if they washed their hands or what, but it was a nice treat.
As a broke student on the hunt for good study spots: this is one of my go-tos! Great coffee, great atmosphere with plants and nice deco. Baristas are very kind, and the place is nice and warm in winter aha. Plus, DONUTS! My favourite are the simple glazed ones.
Update: I went back last week, very friendly service!
Nice enough, neighborhood corner coffee co. Good variety. Nice patio, park nearby.
Great place and outlets for laptops are available
Two guys working in there the day I was there. Not coordinated, not efficient, forgetful. Coffee was nothing special. Replying to your response below: Yes everyone deserves another chance, no problem. It was actually quite busy in the shop and it was January 3.
Good coffee.
I’d be dead in a ditch somewhere it if wasn’t for Happy Goat coffee. I also came back to edit my review in light of some recent happenings in this comments section. I can see that there has been some negativity recently towards the staff and it disheartens me. I will start by saying, I have a bias. I have a service background and I'm especially sympathetic to the good souls who have dedicated their professional and personal efforts for the provision of service to those that are privileged enough to enjoy it. I come at this issue with a heavy heart because I know what it's like to be behind the counter, and I am convinced that very few of the reviewers have that lived experience, or that sensitivity, to how difficult this job really is, and how much is at stake for these people when they show up each morning, here to make our days better. There is an abundance of support for what society and government considers "Essential Workers" and at the core of this wording, we find the hardest-working, least-appreciated and most overlooked (and in my opinion, the most important) people who show up to work and serve us food. Healthcare workers deserve our utmost love and appreciation too, but love and appreciation isn't a pie. There isn't an finite amount, and giving one slice of appreciation to one Essential Worker, isn't diminishing from giving another, equally-sized slice of appreciation to another, less visible Essential Worker. This is a misconception we still have in society that some work is more valuable than others, and more laudable than others, and more deserving of respect and attention over others. I'm reminded of that when I read these reviews. And I will submit, as much as it should be a reminder and not the first time you hear this, but the people who serve us food are just as important as those who write us prescriptions. What I'm saying is that we should dole out equal measures of appreciation, respect and care for those who put themselves out there at risk for us, every damn day, and at least attempt some empathy at the grind that they go through to serve you. And how much that deserves media attention, praise, a living wage, good tips, and human interactions bearing responsibility that as the customer, and on your mighty keyboard, that you wield your power for good. The Happy Goat café on Elgin has become a lifeline for me, and my routine is visiting several times per week. It pains me to read that people have had detracting experiences, when every single time I've visited, I'm met with care, appreciation, kindness, friendly words, expedient service and an excellent product. They know my name, my drink, ask me how my day is going and are genuinely concerned in the answer. I don't get this at Starbucks, Bridgehead or frankly anywhere else. So before you take to the keys and unleash your negativity, please check if you brought it with you into the café that day, because these are human beings, of the most excellent, laudable variety, and are working extremely hard to be cheerful and friendly all day, and the negativity they get in return makes my stomach churn. We are a community and if you're not a part of it, change that, we'd like to get to know you and ask you how your day is going too, and care about the answer. But please know, this is for all those that I've been with to visit, and asked, this is the best Ottawa has to offer. And that's not on Ottawa standards, that's in general. Happy Goat and the entire staff here are exceptional humans and I appreciate them, each individually and as a collective, so much more than I could ever show in my generous tips, my reviews online, or my interacting with them. The owners (I'm looking at your Henry), should be grateful that you've assembled such a formidable team who have braved the worst pandemic of our time to keep up the good vibes in this neighbourhood. I love you all and will continue to support you with all that I have.
Tastiest coffee in Ottawa.
Ambience and iced latte was great! Baked goods looked appetising but the muffin and chocolate chip cookie tasted stale and undone.
Strong coffee. Cool staff.
Super latte... covid bunker... no tables inside, a few on the terrasse
A nice place with good atmosphere and coffee. Conveniently located. Good selection of snacks too.
Nice place, with a nice selection of coffees and cafe food items. This place used to be Starbucks, and it was usually buzzing with customers late into the night (by Ottawa standards!). So now that they close early, it's a bit of disappointment, especially during the summer. The ambiance is nice and shop is clean, though I found the music to be obnoxious and loud. It's hard to have a conversation with a friend over coffee with that kind of noise. I hope they can fix that.
Love there coffee and friendly staff
Funky And relaxed w. Terrific coffee
the woman that served us is awesome
The hot chocolate was good.
Happy Goat easily has the best coffee available in Ottawa. This location has the friendliest staff and the best service, even through the pandemic. Whether you're looking for a place to share a cup with a friend, or are in the area and need some beans for home, this place has you covered!
Aside from a really cool name, this place is a nice place to grab a coffee. The staff is laid back and nice. If you find yourself on this side of Ottawa, I think you should drop in for a brew. There are several roasts available for sale, and worth a consideration.
Cool spot, they could just go easier on the AC, polar conditions inside
I love their coffee! This was my first visit to their new location and it is beautiful.
Always great service and even better coffee
Love it here! One of my go-to spots for coffee, getting work done, meeting friends, and more! The espresso-based drinks are great, and the drip coffee is okay. The treats have a good variety of vegan options, and they have Oat Milk!!!!!
Excellent coffee
(Translated) Good coffee, nice atmosphere and friendly service. (Original) Bon café, belle ambiance et service amical.
We come into Ottawa from Quebec about every week. This place makes it all worthwhile. The best people, serving the BEST coffee. Seriously.
Good café and chai lattes. Nice people :)
They have great vegan chocolate cake..
Great coffee, baked goods. Shop local!
Cute little coffee shop, I liked the ambiance, staff was outstanding, and coffee was great.
While I really do enjoy their coffee and the interior of their café, as well as the relatively fair prices compared to other locally owned cafés, I must say that I am not very impressed with their customer service. I almost feel as if I am bothering the cashiers by ordering. I know it’s a stressful time for everyone, given the pandemic and everything surrounding such, but a little effort goes a long way.
Coffee was pretty good, just not my favorite for flavor. I got an iced mocha with oat milk and it wasn’t what I was expecting. Atmosphere is very nice, though. I would still give it another shot.
Amazing staff. Best coffee and I LOVE the vegan baked goods. Thank you so much
I found happy goat coffee company by chance, I was pleasantly surprised. Good service, good background music (not over powering), pleasant atmosphere, very nice place to relax and just take in a coffee. The coffee was very nice, mocha and the bagel was a little on the small side but still tasted good. $$
A special treat. London Fog especially is an aura of its own.
Delicious beans and great service!
I’m so glad to have had this fantastic local coffee shop move to Elgin street. The vibe is great, the interior is beautiful and the service is bang on. They always have some good local brews on tap. Get there early on weekday mornings for Mavericks donuts; they’re killer.
Amazing coffee
The first place I went when I moved to Ottawa. Friendly baristas and great coffee.
Very friendly and helpful barista, relaxed and cozy atmosphere, plus tasty lattes with milk alternatives!
Cool coffee shop. Neat decor and lots of comfy seating in a very non-Starbucks way. Good food and coffee. Recommended.
Great place !
My default coffee dose every morning for my 3 day stay in ottowa! Good coffee and efficient and friendly service. Have recommended to friends bec it’s also near a really good Airbnb on Lewis st nearby
Excellent coffee and treats, but not a lot of space to sit down. Most tables seem to be taken up by people using it as an office/ library.
My local coffee shop. Always friendly. I'm always satisfied with the drinks, which are tasty and prepared according to my order. Mavericks donuts once in a while are a nice side. A good local spot!
A+ fun lovin girl gang staff, who know their stuff, are super fun to talk to, and are accommodating to pandemic restrictions!
Great coffee! Great treats! Greatest staff!
Love it! Local and doing a great job!
We love the coffee here!
Walked in and was served in no time. Great friendly service and a wide variety of snacks and beverages.
Loved the ambiance of the cafe. Tried their seasonal marshmallow oat latte, really liked the smooth texture. One can't go wrong with an oat latte anyways. Cozy vibe in the winters is just too good.
Awesome coffee. Great atmosphere. Pastries are fresh and well prepared. If you like working out of coffee houses, this is the one to go to.
Lovely spot!
Great coffee. Third wave ethical beans. Love this place. Lots of vegan options and friendly staff.
Great patio and nice people
Awesome
Take out
Friendly staff. Great coffee
Great coffee spot. This location has donuts but no croissants (Sandy Hill is the spot for that). Not far from parks.
Excellent quality and they keep employees and customers safer during the pandemic than any other business I've been in.
Perfect !!!!!@
Excellent service, nice ambience, enjoyed the roast chicken wrap. The baked goods looked amazing. I'm hoping for a couple nut based diabetic options soon.
Delicious locally roasted coffee. The cafe has a really nice vibe.
Great staff, serious coffee
Very nice vibe here. Others think so too because it is usually full so get in early and stake out a spot! They are open later which is much appreciated because people like coffee and snacks in the evening too! Will likely be my first stop over anywhere else.
Service
Great vibe and delicious decaf Americano, but I was disappointed there was no decaf coffee brewed. Perhaps a policy similar to bridgehead and Starbucks where you’re offered an Americano at the same price as a drip coffee would be helpful. I know I’d be a much more frequent customer if I wasn’t having to pay $3.50 each time I wanted a decaf coffee. Having said all that, welcome to the neighbourhood!
Definitely the best coffee in town. Thanks for being open today, even with the truckers in town. Most appreciated.
Love the coffee
great community coffee shop
My favourite coffee shop. Great staff. Excellent coffee. Chill out setting, comfortable seats, good music, and a clean bathroom. What more can I ask for :)
Awesome latte and cool digs.
Wonderful coffee!
I’m not much of a coffee person, but Happy Goat on Elgin is precisely my cup of tea. I visited today on my way home from a friend’s, and at first, I had no idea what I should order. Luckily, the barista was patient and helpful, and he was able to select the perfect drink for me- something light, sweet, and warm for a crisp autumn day. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a positive, welcoming atmosphere; it’s a place with great drinks and so matcha more (worth every toonie)!
I would like it if you didn't come here because I like it so much. Busy by mid-day on weekends, a reliable and delicious stop in the early morning to read for a while.
Cute and tidy place. Lots of things to look at. I bought some of the many interesting donuts they sold. Have you ever seen a bacon donut? It's absurd, I love it! My personal favorite was cinnamon though. That aside, staff is friendly and courteous. Will come again for sure.
(Translated) Cozy atmosphere for this street café, the counter service is fast and the coffee is delicious! Ideal for working outside the home (Original) Ambiance cosy pour ce café du coin de la rue, le service au comptoir est rapide et le café délicieux ! Idéal pour travailler en dehors de chez soi
Lovely cozy coffee shop on Elgin street in Downtown Ottawa. Ideal for reading, working, studying, and meeting friends.
I enjoy the bagels, baked goods, and coffee. However, after being treated rudely yet again by staff, I will not be returning to this location. I have had positive customer experiences there only a handful of times. The rest of time, the staff seem like they don't want to be there and are unfriendly.
Very good atmosphere place but it's hard to find a seat.
I love the coffee; I get the beans all the time to take home. And I love the oat milk combo with these beans! Pairs so well. The morning staff is great, there is a girl there who was so nice to me and my boyfriend, we paid for one treat and gave us an extra as a courtesy. She smiles and loves to chat and is very inviting. However, there is one particular guy who works in the afternoon and has hindered our interest into coming into the store. He never smiles upon greeting, is like talking to a wall, and never makes eye contact! It's so rude. He scoffed at me once when I ordered an americano and seemed like it was a problem that I requested room in my cup. Happy Goat, if your employees feel too cool for proper customer service then I suggest retraining them. I get that the atmosphere is supposed to be "hip" but actually what's cool is being a nice human being.
Caffeine stop. Comfortable, chill place.
Nice staff, tables outside
Must try the cinnamon toast latte
Nice local place.
Their coffee is not to my liking at all. I keep forgetting this and ordering the same thing again ☹️ you might love it, see for yourself. But the food is good and the teas are fine. Mainly stay for the lovely, quiet atmosphere, the friendly service, convenient location and great music selection.
Great coffee and lovely service. Wish there was more seating, but it's a small space so what can you do!
Great coffee with tons of vegan options for snacks. Happy Goat is an inviting place to sit down and do some work too as they have comfortable seating paralleled with reliable wifi.
Cozy and peaceful
They have the best coffee, but this location has a very bad customer service representatives. Especially the manager. I recommend their coffee but not in this location.
Great service and great coffee
Amazing staff, comfortable chairs, amazing coffee. What more could one ask for?
Delicious coffee. Relaxing ambience. Not overly priced. Chicken wrap is great. Nice baristas. Recommended. Unfortunately my review has to be changed. Wondering why management here hasn't worked to provide safe indoor dining options? Small establishment, but room for 4-5 people very safely. With cold weather, where do you expect people to go? The park? Also, Bridgehead a block away, always has 2 people working and can get through the line much quicker. Typically too long a wait here since Covid (unfortunate but true). They also have some indoor dining.
Very rude staff. Also, a bit racist. Coffee is average. Drinks are relatively cold. Atmosphere is nice. But seating areas are very close to each other. Overall, this branch of happy goat is below average.
People were battling over seats at 2PM on a Friday. Internet didn't work. Coffee was burnt.
Really great place to grab a coffee and catch up with a friend. Lots of room to sit, including a comfortable couch at the front. Good service, and the baristas know how to make a mean americano. One of the better spots on Elgin.
ok lacks goodies to have with your coffee (or fresh ones)
Noisy. Awful tea
Amazing coffeeshop
Second time was much better. Great decor, and the tea was potent!
Had a wonderful cappuccino. Bought a bag of beans and really happy with quality.
Other
Good people selling good products. Friendly environment. Highy recomended
Really cute coffee shop, staff is friendly and they have great drinks!
Good coffee and I wish that they had larger cups. One size doesn't fit all. I think they may be the cafe chain in Ottawa.
Love happy goat coffee!! It's a local coffee house, great service, love their cortado. They have pastries, cookies and Maverick's donuts to snack on and free WiFi.
My new favourite cafe. Excellent coffee and food, and the loveliest furniture and atmosphere you'll find in an Ottawa coffee shop. Great place to work on your laptop or grab a coffee with a friend. Simply top notch.
Great service and coffee!
The best coffee shop that I ever was in
I love and support local but this branch, at least, has a hell of a Karen for a boss - may not go back ever again. Also we asked for iced coffee and got bad tasting americano
Probably the worst bar staff in the city. Cold, abrupt, and entitled. A stark difference from the staff and culture of Happy Goat at Laurel.
Great coffee and atmosphere
After drinking our lattes, my friend a found a small blue pebble at the bottom of their cup. Service was friendly but something had to have been wrong with their espresso machine because all three drinks we ordered were lukewarm. I wouldn’t recommend this place
Beautiful coffee shop with a cozy ambience and a great assortment of coffees and teas. The dirty chai latte (chai latte with a double shot of espresso) is highly recommended.
Adorable little coffee shop, with lots of seating, and the cutest decorations. Service was quick, but personal, everyone was super friendly and asked me questions about myself. More expensive than Tim Hortons, but that's to be expected for the quality products. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small, cozy place to catch up with friends, study, or spend some alone time.
Came for the plugs during the outage but will return for excellent taste in beer and coffee.
Great food and drinks. Very friendly staff.
Delicious coffee and baked goods. My current fave coffeeshop in Ottawa. Beats Starbucks by a longshot❤️❤️☕☕ Visited the Elgin St location this afternoon and enjoyed a delicious Cinnamon Toast Latte and awesome cookies????????
Hip place, nice decor, yummy coffee and deserts, and local. Drawbacks are: wifi is sketchy when busy; it's busy super often and hard to find a table. Would give it a 5 but its success already annoys me when I want to do crosswords on a Sunday. I prefer the Laurel location because of the size and the events they often have.
Great coffee
So cute! Great baked goods!
Delicious coffee. Lovely staff.
I love fresh roasted coffee!!
Unfriendly staff seemed annoyed they were there
Great place! Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Inconsistent beverages every time. Lack of sanitation. Cashier touches money then proceeds to handle food and prepare beverages without hand-washing. I may report this to public health. I loved this place when there were decent baristas who cared and *gasp* were professional. The baristas they have now seem to have no idea what they are doing... a total lack of artisanship.... Maybe train them? With only one employee working, the wait times are too long. You will stand in line for 10 minutes. This is a reflection of poor management. In the past I would come with my elderly mother. I wouldn't dare bring her in to such a place now. You will receive much better service from Bridgehead, which is north on Elgin Street, or Ministry of Coffee, which is just a little further north. Both are on the same side of the street as Happy Goat. Both have decent management which is observed in their welcoming service.
The best coffee I’ve had in ottawa
Tight space and not clean enough......
Best coffee shop very fast and friendly staff
Update on my original review. They did end up getting back to me and apologised for the delay, most likely due to Covid (i feel sort of bad). They even asked how i was grinding the beans and provided tips on how to grind it for optimal flavour. They also offered us another bag for replacement (different roast). Thank you! I was happy to purchase local and encourage Happy Goat, especially during Covid. I bought a bag of the Ethiopian espresso roast (GUJI) and was highly disappointed. We hoping for balanced flavors but only got major acidity. I emailed their customer service to see what my options were and to ask if they could recommend another type as I would love to continue to encourage them. No reply for over 2 weeks. I followed up with another email about 3 weeks ago and still nothing. Your facebook page states 'Your satisfaction and experience at our locations is always our top priority and we hope we have been successful in this goal and continue to do so'. Yet you are not answering your customer service emails? Overall disappointed.
I love the decor and the coffee was very good.
Really good coffee
Bagel was stale and hard. Inedible.
(Translated) Very good coffee and espresso. (Original) Muy buen café y espresso.
Friendly service, great hot drinks! Busy due to students studying but very cozy. Great music playing in the background, very chill and relaxing
Great new hip coffee shop on Elgin street. Coffee is delicious but it can get quite crowded.
Nice ambiance, comfy chairs and good coffee
Not impressed with the nitro cold brew or the customer service will be returning back to starbucks or another local coffee shop
New, posh place to get your coffee on Elgin St. I got a drip coffee for $2.49. The best part though is they serve Mavericks donuts here! So good! Great quality bakery items to go with your great quality coffee. The location itself is great. And WiFi is password protected and fast for me while I was there. Also, this location used to be a Starbucks (since moved down the street) so it largely looks the same on the inside. It has a good amount of seating with tables, a high bar, and some leather chairs in the front. I think they probably could fit even more sitting in it if they wanted.
Delicious food and coffee, and great service.
Heard good things about this place. Ambience is very nice. Ordered a couple of teas and waiting over 10 minutes. Had to remind staff to make my order. Plenty of coffee shops in town, will likely take my business somewhere else, where staff is attentive.
Very good coffee
I had he most amazing service I’ve ever experienced in a coffee shop this morning! Despite the workers being very busy, they were friendly and efficient, producing the most beautiful and delicious drinks. Five stars for this place... they rock!
Was pretty busy and lined up out the door. For a coffee shop, they have a good selection of tea and treats. A little pricey. Not bad for a treat, though.
Great coffee. The silence of the cafe was reminiscent of a visit to the library. I felt like whispering my order. Everyone had their heads up their apps.
I've been to Happy Goat a number of times at this location and others. The staff and atmosphere are fine but the coffee is extremely sour. It may be fine if you're used to adding copious amounts of dairy and sugar but as coffee goes it's really quite mediocre.
New café on Elgin. The decor is really awesome at this little café, they went the extra mile to make it cozy. And they have gluten free cookies!!
Really poor experience, left without the chai I paid for. It would have been nice if the barista paid attention to what he was doing instead of chatting up a young lady. Let alone he claim to not have a ticket for my order, when he asked me what I was waiting for (everyone before and after me had been served), he could not retain the order … a hot chai latte. After being asked once again for my order, I gave up and left. Too bad, they make good drinks, but the service leaves a lot to be desired! So sad!
Good coffee not the service
Very friendly, good vibes, quality drinks.
The manager is rude and unfriendly. Won't be back.
Nice quiet place to relax
Busy as can be but I can see why: the coffee and beverages are delicious and they SERVE BEER. Perfect mix and fulfils many people's needs. Often frequented by students so a seat is hard to come by, but I would get a coffee and head out. The downside I noticed was their donuts (delivered fresh daily?) really were not fresh. Stale tasting.
Best coffee I ever had
(Translated) I liked the store * very *. Pleasant atmosphere. My meal was excellent. (Original) Ich mochte den Laden *sehr*. Angenehme Atmosphäre. Mein Essen war hervorragend.
Excellent service. My coffee with a chocolate chip cookie was perfect. Felt covid19 rules were being followed.
Decent coffee shop. Nothing bad to say about the coffee and the donut I got, but the staff there was pretty unfriendly. The staff taking the order was on the thin line of either being nice or rude. She greeted me friendly and told me to have a nice day, but when I asked few questions, she was short and flat, that I would have to ask her another question to fully get an answer to my question. It seems that she wants to do the bare minimum customer service, but not more than the practical greeting.
First time here. Cool place nice ambience staff are super friendly. I ordered a bar drink, not too hot and it was super hot. The espresso itself is quite nice, other than the fact that my milk was too hot. Would come back for the ambience!
“Greeted” by a rude young male with shaved head Sunday morning Aug 2nd 2020. This “sunshine” person should not be a barista. Our friend was visiting from Toronto and we were not impressed. Seems to be a pattern based on other reviews. Will not come back to this location.
I’m bumping up my review from 4 to 5 stars based on the fact that so few places in Ottawa know how to make a proper espresso (I’m looking at YOU Starbucks), but Happy Goat does an excellent job. I am not a coffee connoisseur. I will drink coffee that’s been sitting in the pot all day, if that is my only option. But when I get an espresso it should not be scaldingly hot or served in a cup so large that half of it is lost on the side of the cup as it journey’s from the bottom to my mouth. Kudos to Happy Goat for making a great espresso!
Wonderful coffee shop. Very cozy with genuine staff. I got the London fog and it was so delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try different drinks.
Staff is always friendly and the coffee is great! Worth stopping in if you're just walking by or looking for a treat.
Crowded
I have been there for a coffee. Pretty quick service and very welcoming staff. And the coffee I ordered was awesome. Will make a visit again.
nice coffee!!!!!
My husband and I always enjoy going in for a boy drink and break from our day.
The goat was quite pleasant indeed. He was quite happy as far I could tell however he may be hiding some deep seated emotional trauma-I’m not sure. Just a hunch.
Great place to meet friends and have coffee
World's BEST grilled cheese sandwich and a damn good ginger cookie! Served up by friendly staff and enjoyed at leisure while Tracy Chapman tunes lulled the patrons into a relaxed state of ease.
Hands down the best coffee shop along Elgin. It has a very chill yet lively atmosphere - perfect for getting some studying done or just chatting with your pals. The espresso is great, and they offer a huge variety of vegan and gluten-free pastries which are also delicious. All the staff are very sweet, but Duncan and Theo are my favourite early morning weekend duo. :)
excellant coffee and sweet treats. Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere
Coffee is incredible!! Pricey but worth it! Very friendly staff. Environment is relaxing and cozy. Great location. Although it is Street parking, there is lots of places to park.
I like to go by in the morning before work, but unfortunately it was open today at 8 so I had to go down the street to Ministry.
Excellent doughnuts, great vibe, and pretty solid cappuccino (all their coffee good). Have had two "business coffees" here recently and I thought the atmosphere was perfect.
Very nice
Hot chocolate was kinda nice. Foamy milk. Yum. Food wasn't the greatest but it's an amazing place to hang out at! Comfy cushions and eclectic interiors. I personally love it.
Only 1 size of coffee but paper straws are nice, as long as you drink it quickly or else thier useless
Fantastic place 10/10
Friendly service and very tasty seasonal menu. I had the caramel hot chocolate, which was very smooth, at the perfect temperature, had right amount of sweetness. Good atmosphere overall. Re covid: staff and coffee shop follow the required measures/procedures. Tables are distanced appropriately and proof of vaccination along with matching photo ID is required for dining in.
Service is always friendly, however, more often than not the internet isn’t working.
I was very pleased with my experience at this location. I have recently switched off dairy and was unsure which non-dairy alternative would be best for my latte. The manager was very helpful walking me through my options while describing the differences between them. Although it was a little busy that morning I didn't feel rushed to make a decision. I appreciate that level of care and will certainly be returning.
The next stage of hipster evolution.
A nice unique coffee shop. I'm a lucky guy! :)
Good coffee and saervice and nice patio but too many wasps/bees flying around
(Translated) Great cut. (Original) Great cortado.
I am a regular at this location and in my opinion, this is the best Happy Goat in all of Ottawa. The service here is consistently quick, even during busy hours, and the coffee is always hot. The staff appears to work very hard while providing friendly customer service at the same time. There's a taller guy that I see quite a lot that I wanted to mention. I am always thrilled to see that this young man is working when I stop in because I know my drink will be up to standards and the place will be spotless.
Nice atmosphere, and very cool vibe from the place. A little noisy and limited seating though.
Americano was great, atmosphere was good too. It's my first time here, will come back again as the hours are great :) WiFi was fast compared to other coffee shops.
