Feels like a true café in the traditional sense, although the coffee is not traditional (bitter, burnt); it is very well made. I had a cortado which was excellent. They use 49th Parallel beans. Best chocolate you can get in Ottawa, directly imported from one of the best chocolatiers in Belgium. A perfect café for a relaxed break.

They offer 49th Parallel coffee, properly prepared by friendly, unpretentious, but well trained baristas. If you like "3rd wave" coffee, this is the place to go in downtown Ottawa. Recent renovations make it a cool and cozy place too hang out for a coffee or beer.

The review is not related to the products quality (superb, both coffee and chocolates) but to the service. They don't write anywhere that the place is for takeout only, and they told me just last minute after I paid for everything. This is ridiculous, considering that before ordering I was waiting seated at a table with my laptop open. More clarity would have been appreciated, online or at the shop.

It was okay, for the price not sure it was worth it. I got a mocha.....but only tasted bitter chocolate. The orange chocolate biscotti was very nice. I got a medium sized coffe, 3 chocolates and a biscotti and it was almost 13$ Not sure it was worth it. Not sure i will try again..... Staff was nice.

Drove 25min to try their great hot chocolates from what I’ve heard but the door was locked with no indication that it was closed. Double checked the hours of operation to make sure I was within them. Very big waste of time.

I am giving this place a 5 star rating based on my recent experience. I haven’t actually been to the shop as it was closed on Monday long weekend when I went to check it out - my main interest was Leonidas chocolate (those who know good chocolate will understand). Since I was going back to Toronto that day I decided to order the chocolate online as the option was available. I had a special request that was accommodated (I am a dark chocolate fanatic and have my favourite kind too). A few days later the package arrived (the entire family waiting with anticipation), and voila! Amazing, delicious, fresh dark chocolate for the entire family to enjoy! I can’t wait to go back and try their coffee too! Thank you!

Essentially the best espresso I've ever had in town and perhaps the only coffee shop that uses the traditional group espresso machine with levers. Always excellent service, fine chocolate and biscotti. Their logo does not do them justice at all! Vote with your money there if you want to promote proper coffee in downtown Ottawa.
