This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee roasters.
as so many other reviews say, it’s true croissants here are absolutely delicious! just get yourself one. and I think it goes without saying that their coffee is to die for! 12/10 would recommend to everyone I know EDIT; major bonus points because the ice cubes in my latte were made of coffee :)
Easily one of the best cafés in Toronto. Extensive hot and cold menu, variety of beans to purchase for home use. Quiet, quaint, relaxing. One of my favourite spots in Toronto. Sometimes I actually drive from Markham to here just to enjoy myself. Plus, Kensington always has something cool to check out.
The coffee and the desserts are really great and the people that work there are really friendly.
Awesome hangout with perfect coffee, fresh-baked veg/vegan offerings, backyard patio & all-round great vibes.
Best espresso beans
This place is an institution. It feels like they've been in business since the beginning of time. Best coffee in the market, roasted on sight! Buy your beans here, you won't regret it! Some people might find the indoor seating a little cramped but they have a front patio AND a back patio.
Last of the old school Kensington indie cafés. Excellent premium coffee roasted in house. Cheap and delicious pastries. Indoor seating is a bit limited, outdoors is a little more spacious. The serve yourself approach to drip coffee is a little puzzling at first, but not a big deal.
Ahh, this cozy coffee shop is a fav of mine ???? I've been here twice and I enjoyed both visits! If you buy a coffee to drink at the shop, they give you a nice big mug ???? Maybe I'm just slow at drinking coffee, but for a medium, it lasted me for quite a long time -- I think I stayed there with my friend for about 45 minutes? Maybe longer? (I'm sorry for hogging a table for so long ????) I only finished my drink when we were about to leave. The little wooden tables give the place a warm and...hmmm...classic/old school atmosphere. The tables far apart enough so that you won't feel too crowded, but they're small, so you'll be sitting pretty close to your friends. You have the option of sitting outside of the store, by the front windows, in the large area inside the store, or in the back patio. There's more space than I expected. The owners/workers are really nice, and I love the pattern one of them made with whipped cream for my caramel latte. I went on Sunday around 3 or 4pm. I had a 10-minute wait for my order, which isn't so bad considering how crowded and busy they were.
Favourite coffee shop in Toronto. Super cozy place and great quality drinks & pastries.
Great fresh coffee roasts. Good pick up system outside of the shop. Order ahead and select your grind fineness. The order usually takes 1-2 days to be ready for pick up. As of Jan 17, the shop exterior is under renovations. First time customers may have more of a challenge finding the location.
Just may be one of the best golden mylks I've had, with fresh ginger and a well-balanced mix of other spices. Gracious staff, welcoming vibe.
I love this cafe! The staff is amazing. Always very friendly and polite. A must stop if you're in the market.
Excellent coffee. A nice cozy ambiance.
Cozy and rustic vibes with nice baristas. I had a miscommunication where they accidentally made me two lattes when I only paid for one. I offered to pay for the other one but they just let me keep it.
One of the best places for coffee in the city. Great food, cozy atmosphere.
Best in town! Consistently good coffee, they roast the coffee beans perfectly everytime and they do not disappoint. They have a great selection of teas and coffee offerings. The environment of the place is vintage, music is great relaxing and the service is great. They destroyed my feelings for other coffee shops in Toronto, I can only go to Moonbeam for coffee.
I had my first breakfast and chocolate chip cookie in Canada at this coffee shop back in 1995 and it's been one of my top spots in the city ever since. Extensive coffee and tea selection with great quality, tasty food and baked goods, friendly staff and two patios to choose from! Please stay forever! I recommend their smoothies, london fog, peach iced tea, golden milk, samosas, and banana chocolate chip cake!
Can you get better drip coffee in Kensington? The answer is no. I don’t even like coffee!! I get a mocha but my girlfriend always gets a coffee and I actually want to try it. Their flavours are out of this world. Each coffee is like an adventure.
Absolutely delicious coffee for a fair price, the interior is small yet there is plenty of seating. Also the choice of music is fantastic!
I enjoy getting a bevy at this place. The cafe is cozy inside. The drinks are good. Nothing really more to say about this place. I've had some snacks here but nothing noteworthy about it comes to mind.
Friendly cafe! Great for sitting and enjoying one of their many drinks, but also choosing from a wide variety of beans to make your own. Fair prices too.
No internet on the weekends because it makes sense. Very few tables have close by electricity outlets. Coffee is good.
Love this place!! Great environment and nice coffee, the iced latte tastes so good!
Very cozy place to sit it , however, matcha tea latte is not the best. Too much water compare to the amount of a tea.
Excellent place to get your morning and evening fix. The lovely staff are ever so nice and welcoming. My favourite drinks are iced caramel latte and bangels smoothie. Must try!
We were a small group who came in one by one for morning fuel. Coffee and pastries weren't anything to write home about. Staff were rude and dismissive. Reading through other reviews, it seems we got some kind of off Sunday morning experience or something... either way, I personally won't be back.
Most amazing coffee I have ever tried, definitely go here if you are down at Kensington market
Cold brew coffee is excellent. So bad there is no free wifi.
I like meeting people here. Lots of creative drink options. The patio out back is a hidden gem.
I always stop here when I have meetings in Kensington Market. Lots of seats and a great spot to sit in the back with a view of the patio. Coffee is amazing and I enjoy the breakfast bagel -its always loaded with lots of fresh veggies. Service is excellent -only downside is the Wi-Fi needs to be entered manually at the front by the staff to access
Good coffee Very friendly staff Like the interior fits the Kensington vibe.
Always great service. A back and front patio. Their coffee bean selection is great. I recommend Morning Buzz.
Really really good hot chocolate!
Great coffee and lots of light tasty treats
Roast their own blends every Tues. The owner really knows coffee & I love his brews!
Coffees super great! Entry's a little tight, but ambiance is cool.
THE best coffee in T.O, in my mind. The owner rosters a lot of different coffee beans, different kind of roasting... he is so knowledgeable and willing to help. I'm from the beaches and traveling every 2 weeks to by my coffee here.
Eclectic and free Wi-Fi draws the crowd. Not part of chain. Thus excellent at the details. Highly recommended.
Latte time on the patio. Homemade Biscotti's a favorite in the city. Great place to people watch and meet an eclectic mix of people
Excellent coffee, but truly excellent. A lot of varieties including real espresso and latte. Definitely recommend either to stay inside or take out or even buy some beans and make your coffee at home
Great place for fair trade, home roasted coffee. Not the kind of place you should expect to get much work done - there are few outlets and the staff jealously protect the WiFi password. Moonbeam fits really well into the Kensington market vibe. My experience was a positive, if unproductive, one.
Walking into the Moonbean Coffee Company is like walking into a family reunion (if you have a big family): It's crazy, chaotic, and you end up just talking to whoever seems to be in charge and handing out money. Somehow you end up with the drink or food you asked for, and nobody knows where they are sitting. But. That is part of the charm. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and eager to help and make sure everyone got their order, spicing up the experience with humour, telling two patrons when a drink arrived that they could, "fight for whose that was" generating a rumble of laughter. While the space is not the most economic, there is enough seating for a large amount of people. And don't be fooled when you walk in the door, there is more seating in the back. If you get the chance, make sure you stop in and at least say hi. Also, the drinks come with artistic surprises different for every customer.
Currently going through renovations so the asthetic isn't all there, but the coffee is great, the service is great! It is a little loud, great spot to chat but not great for doing homework
Coffee is okay, I felt my latte was a bit burning. Service is welcoming, but space is quite small.
Nothing but positive energy from this place - from the staff to the amazing coffee and cute shop, I love it! Coffee lovers will love this place ✌????
Good coffee, busy place in the heart of Kensington Market
Love the quality of coffee over here. Great test and always fresh
Fantastic and friendly. I had a delicious almond croissant. I left with powdered sugar all over my happy face.
Had some coffee and banana bread there. It was okay!
This is definitely one of the best in Toronto. You have to try it.
This is my fave coffee shop in and out of Kensington. I live 25 min drive and I come here just to get their lattes. They also have super delicious deserts. Can't wait for this to reopen so I can come enjoy my coffee with cake on their patio.
Moonbean has the best coffee, period. When you walk into the cafe, you're immediately awash with a hearty smell of coffee. I'm an absolute fan of their iced latte. Their coffee tastes wholesome and delicious without the taste of acidity. Absolutely love this place, the people are super friendly too!
Service is great and fast. Their selections of teas is vast and all fresh.
The coffee here is spot on! Consistent and delicious☺️ They have vegan options here making it a great choice to bring your trendy vegan friends. You can get beans, dry leaf teas here. One thing that could be improved is the interior? Music is jazzy on evenings. My kind of jazz. Love it!
Best muffin Best coffee Sweet baristas Cute cafe!
The friendly staff is enough to warrant coming back, but their coffee also happens to be delicious. While I haven’t tried all of their baked goods, the ones I’ve had have been delicious - highly recommend the croissants with your morning coffee. Love this place.
I almost hate giving them such a good review because their bean prices might go up. That said, this is one of my favourite roasters in the city. Their prices have been climbing steadily over the past couple of years, but the quality hasn't dropped and I keep coming back. This is a great spot!
Love their awesomeness.
Easily the best cappuccino I've had in a very long time!
Anything you pick off the menu is a good choice. Anywhere you sit is a good spot. The interior can be a bit cramped when it's busy, but it's a great spot to grab a latte and muffin- and the coffee/espresso beans are AMAZING.
Best coffee freshly roasted in a rustic cafe vibe.
Cute little coffee shop in Kensington. I usually get a latte here. Their London fog lattes are also good!
A warm amd friendly space. I love to come here for its good coffee or the freshly roasted beans.
Recommend you take the trip if you're in the area. Lots of options clearly laid out, lots of seating and a laid back atmosphere. One thing that stood out in particular was the price, a french press coffee of the bean I selected was just over a couple of dollars...Just great!
Great locally roasted coffee. Staff and owner are all super nice and friendly. Really good baked goods as well.
Cute coffee shop in Kensington. The flow of ordering, paying, and receiving your coffee is disorganized and does not flow as nicely, but it is a tiny shop. You can buy loose coffee beans here. Bring cash!
Great selection of coffees and teas. Lots of places to sit, inside and out. Good selection of food and juice options including freshly made juices.
Great coffee, unique atmosphere, best in class staff, kudos to Alan!
Cute small cafe in Kensington market. Great selection of teas and good coffee. The back patio is a must visit.
Always a great experience Alan always makes me feel right at home Great coffee selection
One of my favorite spots in Kensington. Very cozy and there's free wifi.
Nice quaint place... if you can stand all the hipsters. The staff are sweet (when they can speak English). Try the Jasmine Matcha Latte it's GREAT!
It's awesome that this place still exists. Remember going back in the late 90's.
This place gets VERY busy so if sitting within earshot of every table around you is too cozy, this might not be the best spot for you. Their selection of tea and coffee is massive, sweets are delicious, and sandwiches are decent.
A comfortable spot to grab a latte and do some reading. The baked goods are delish and they have blended cold drinks and a fait selection of lattes. Free wifi and lots of seating with windows.
Great coffee and pastries. Rounded up with a nice service and a relaxing patio.
Really delicious coffee and fresh juices!
Friendly service, amazing coffee. Location is great, outdoor tables make it a great spot to sit and enjoy the coffee. Washrooms are clean, store is clean.. highly recommended.
The coffee here is SO MUCH better than the large chains. Great ambiance and a great place to chill out - either inside or the back patio...
I love this place. My favourite beans here to buy is the Sumatra blend. So yummy! Two patios, one front and one back.
I grabbed a coffee and breakfast cookie here and seriously enjoyed both! Highly recommended, nice and efficient staff. Would hang out on the patio too.
Great place. I always stop here while in Kensington to get a beverage. Great place to sit down in the summer with friends especially in their back patio. Thanks Moonbean!
Best little coffee shop in Toronto. You must go here! Great selection of coffee.
Yummy! They have a cute little patio area in the back that's very enchanting. Friendly staff, chilled environment amongst the hipster and hippies.
The team is very friendly and the coffee is always fresh. My office and I love this place!
Great coffee place, everything is fresh and locally made and highly recommended. try the iced chai or the espresso. fresh food and pastries are also available and all recommended.
Delicious baked goods and pastries, fresh juice and smoothies. Service not very quick, but friendly and efficient
Kensington classic. Good coffee. OK treats. Busy and sometimes cramped. Buy beans, get them ground for your machine and take them home.
Grabbed some Chai Lattes from this place a few years ago now and it was the cutest little place! I loved the decor and the vibe! It’s also parked right next to Kensington market and is a great place to stop in and get caffeinated before started your journey through the rest of the market! Enjoy!!!
A great chill place to grab a coffee, this place has a lot of charm in the summer with a small patio on a side street on one of Toronto's nicest neighbourhoods.
One of the best roasters in the city, very pleasant service, fantastic location in Kensington Market!
Good snacks such as pastries and samosas, as well as breakfast food. The building is a tad shabby but in character, and there's a great back patio.
ive been going here for approx 5 years having the same thing over and over (chai tea latte either hot or iced) stopped going there for awhile, went back other day and product was not of the same quality. latte seemed too watery and not flavourful as it used to be. it used to be a amazing product. i used to go here daily for my latte but now im searching for a good latte place again
Excellent coffee shop! They always have a great selection of beans and it's good to have self serve option (except now ahah). Their brew is also great as well and served by a very nice staff. So far my favourite Roastery
I’ve been visiting Moonbean regularly for the past 15 years and am always struck by the quality product, service and kindness of all the staff. Great coffee and baked goods.
Probably one of the best coffeehouses/roasteries in Toronto. Their beans and the quality of their coffee is exceptional. The design of the place is unique and quirky as well. Their front patio is great for reading a book and enjoying the view of kensington's street life especially during the busy hours.
Decent coffee ☕ a bit to dark of a roast for my taste.. & weird "bathroom" smells occasionally. Nice interior tho, roaster in the front, friendly staff great jazz music in background ????. Busy place with nice windowfront and charming interiors Variety of snacks, vegetarian &vegan friendly ????
By far our @sintiquetederegreso, a favorite place to drink and buy a good coffee bean. The kindness of its staff is super, the owner is always ready to help and answer your questions and above all he is always aware of his customers. 100% recommended
Best drip coffee I have come across in the city. They have espresso based coffees as well. Great patio. Easy access by bike.
Probably one of the best coffee in Toronto. But not only coffee, the owner is crafting new drinks made with fresh fruit and vegetables on-site! My favourite is the golden drink, check it out! Also very inviting atmosphere! The staff is supremely friendly and efficient.
Fantastic coffee bean selection, both prepared, or green. All in all, one of my favourite coffee shops in Toronto
Great place to buy beans.. better quality and price than most roasters out there. Friendly owner and staff.
Amazing staff and very cool sections and multiple patios. Great baked goods and coffee.
Cute little place with a TON of seating. Best London fog I’ve ever had! Really nice ladies working behind the bar. Looks like a great patio for the summer
The ice tea lemonade taste like soap water and the brownie taste like a sponge. Don't deviate from coffee dudes and dudettes.
Best coffee shop in the city. Freshly roasted coffee and interesting snacks.
Besides being the best coffee in Toronto they staff is extremely friendly. We are traveling from out of town and the owner told us all about the town. Also try the pastries... Vegan almond bread is moist and tasty
The coffee tasts great, the employees are very nice as well and the food ia very cheap
I recognize that Moonbean is trying to be accommodating but the seating is quite cramped, and a little awkward to be rubbing elbows with strangers. Otherwise a great coffee place.
It’s the cutest coffee place The service is very good and friendly We ordered two small drinks ( mocha latte and caramel latte ) the sizes are very decent and including tip it’s was $10 Both lattes taste really good and very reasonable prices Would definitely recommend it :)
a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff
Good coffee and good vibes, but they don't offer wifi on the weekends. Normally I'd be fine with this (I get they want to keep tables open for customers), but they don't tell you until after you purchase something - no sign or anything. This makes it frustrating for people specifically looking for somewhere to work, and a little deceitful.
The place is very cozy and perfect for reading or doing own work. Beautiful ambience.
I love this place! The coffee is good and it's nice for dates. The patio is nice during the summer.
So sad to update my review of this place. For more than a dozen years we have come back to the city for the coffee for our big communal house. I don't even know how long before that. We just made our pickup of a 5 lb bag, our usual and got it home to discover it was off. It's not the first time this has happened. They roast right in the place, there are inconsistencies from time to time. But this is the first time they were unwilling to take it back. That's right, this company that botched their roast expects our family to eat the cost of a 5 lb bag of independently roasted in downtown Toronto coffee! They offered to let us reorder.... Wow. Customers that have been showing up from out of town for a dozen years after moving. Buyer beware.
One of my very favourite coffee shops anywhere! Great selection of coffee and tea, including fair trade coffee; always has tasty baked goods on hand; wonderful people, and patio seating available. Highly recommend!
Inspiring concoctions, along with the usual you expect from a coffee shop, except with it's own flavor. Every desert I have ever had here was deliciously decadent. Old school Toronto vibe on the interior, with a front and back patio space.
Literally the best coffee shop I've ever been to. They have absolutely everything that you could think of from regular coffee, americanos to milkshakes, smoothies, and even beer! A great place to go if you're also looking for some pastries.
Coffee is perfect. Wi-Fi is only available on weekdays.
Amazing place with lovely ambiance and good selection of teas, coffees and yummy pies. They also have the coziest secret back yard with an authentic Kensington vibes. The only problem for is that their brewed coffee has a very high acidity, but that’s fine. Totally recommend this place.
Amazing spot to get your coffee, be it beans, grinded or to drink! Good variety of coffee from different areas, with different aromas. They seem to know a lot about coffee there, unlike to my experience in certain coffee shop franchises
Great hidden place in Kensington, good varied coffee with kind staff.
One of my favourite spots in kensington! The back room is super cozy and i often end up striking up some great conversations with strangers if not the whole room! Great food options and smoothies and coffee!
Stopped by the patio a few weeks ago after a long time away from Kensington Market. A friend and I both had the Cold Brew and coming from someone who usually isn't too fond of cold brews, it was tasty and the perfect way to beat the heat on a hot weekend afternoon.
The best coffee shop in Kensington market. Coffee, tea, vegan baked goods etc. unlike other cafe in Kensington this is the original owners operators.
Wifi is slow and doesn’t work in the seating area in the back (didn’t tell us until we purchased coffee already).
Great selection of Coffee. I tried the brew coffee today and it's very worth it. Also good selection of pastry and bakery.
To all coffee enthusiasts who are into specialty coffee - go here to grab your cup of joe or buy whole beans and bring it home for brewing. Definitely top-notch single origin roaster - a precious gem of Kensington market/Toronto.
Best espresso by far beats jet fuel by a landslide. Though Jet fuel has a nicer backpatio. The back is quiet and often frequented by college students studying. Great atomsphere exactly what you come to expect of trendy Kensington market. Could use some more flowers or something to spruce up thr curb appeal.
Several times I've ordered decaf lattes and gotten caffeinated and been awake till 5AM, it happened again last night. The place isn't very clean, there are always people outside smoking either right at the tables or sitting on the stops right next to the tables, which is illegal. I told one of the servers that someone was smoking in the patio and she said; "oh you don't like smoke, you should sit somewhere else"! after spending $10 on a latte and a snack, I'm the one who has to move? I also watched servers writing orders on little torn off scraps of paper and putting them into the glasses and cups that customers will be drinking out of while also handling change. The washrooms are disgusting and instead of doors, have louvered closet doors that latch in the middle. The coffee is quite good, but it's not a very good environment to enjoy and relax. Enjoy at your peril.
Super awesome café with great service and a wicked selection of hot and cold drinks. They do a lot of speciality stuff here and the owner seems like he loves what he does.
A Kensington Market staple! Some of the best coffee you can find in Toronto. Moonbean Coffee has a great atmosphere inside and has great service. When visiting, you'll find a great selection on pastries as well as other drinks. Every time I've visited here (at least once a week), I get a perfectly crafted, picturesque Americano with a perfect crema. I am never disappointed with the coffee I get here and it is without a doubt some of the best coffee in all of Toronto.
I came here because I was close by and It received many positive reviews. I ordered a Latte. Definitely 1st rate.
I've been coming here for 17 years now. This is my absolute favourite place in the city to decompress and rebalance. The energy here is always wonderful and Alan and the staff are so warm and friendly.
One of my favourite coffee shops in Toronto. Their roast blends are wonderful!
Great place to get fresh roasted coffee beans. Good mix of flavours available and pretty descent value. Pretty much the only place I get my beans.
Love this place. Still the best tea I have had to date. The peppermint is one of a kind and bursting with freshness and flavor. It's not unusual to see them roasting fresh coffee beans when I'm in there! Delicious coffee as well. Highly reccomend.
The best coffee on Toronto. Roasted on site, friendly service, good food. Relaxed, Kensington style, in the heart of the market.
Bustling Kensington coffee institution with plenty of seating in the back. Wifiless intentionally and a great cozy place to chill.
It's a good spot. Great coffee and vibe. The environment is cool. It can get crowded at times.
Classic hipster cafe. A bit pricey, as can be expected for this part of town. Quite busy, difficult to grab a table at peak hours. Good Chai Lattes.
Their drinks are excellent, especially the coffee, smell so good! Try it the 1st time and then become my favourite spot with the secret back yard quiet peaceful
I used to live in Toronto and this cafe was one of my favourites. How can I describe it? Like a friend I'm always happy to see. I still go there when I have a chance, and I'm asked if I've moved back to Toronto. I only wish. Great coffee and snacks.
The best coffee roaster in Toronto! I have been coming here for about the last 15 years. Very friendly owner and staff plus they offer a large selection of coffee, tea and treats to choose from.
UPDATED, PLEASE READ FURTHER: Coming from someone with 5 years of professional barista experience, moonbean never disappoints. I've been going to moonbean for years, even since before I lived in Toronto when I was a kid and its come a long way. They have great service even when I'm being a nightmare customer on my phone. They're coffee is always fantastic and even got my coffee hating girlfriend to start drinking coffee. If you're ever in Kensington moonbean is a must. UPDATE: Over the last few months my little family and I have gone from loving this beautiful cafe to getting anxiety at the thought of going in for coffee beans. The owner seems to stare us down and give us attitude no matter what we do. We try our best to be respectful and admittedly we had weighed out beans by using a scoop when that apparently that wasn't how it is done. Even after correcting our mistake, we know we are very much so not welcomed here. The staff is usual fine and is great with our two year old son, unless the owner is around. We noticed that the staff is far more tense and short when he is around but not when the owners wife is. The quality and pricing is still great, but not worth the 45 minute walk and rude treatment we get anymore. As much as it breaks my heart to say we no longer support the coffee shop that I've been going to since I was small, the green beanery and quantum coffee is comparable, more accessible and far more pleasant to go to.
I love their golden milk, it's frothy and they make it with real ginger. It's a cozy spot and the music is always soothing. The owner and staff are always accommodating and pleasant. Although small, they let anyone use their washrooms which is a rarity for Kensington Market. The kids always get a lemonade, they're freshly made and a bit tart but they love it. Their bagel sandwiches are tasty and inexpensive. I can stay at the Moonbean forever.
small and quiet coffee shop. Great selection of coffee and baked goods. tables kinda wobbly.
Great service Lovely coffee and baked goods
Very nice corner coffee shop with standard food and lots of seating. They have a full menu and the coffee is self serve. I had the sesame bagel with cream cheese and it was quite good. But the real value here is the layout and atmosphere. The back room is a little colder but quiet and relaxed, with cool abstract art on canvases above the small tables, built in benches and chairs. The back patio more than doubles the seating and is partially covered. I'd love to sit out there in warmer months, but in December I'm stuck looking out the window at the snow. If I'm back in summer, I'll pay this place another visit.
Really nice, cozy place with friendly staff. Also, at least when I was there, they weren't playing music which made it really nice for reading, unlike many other coffee shops which play it, and far too loud. Great cappuccino too ☕????
Awesome! great coffee. Great baked goods. Always bustling with people! Love this place
What a gem in the heart of Kensington. They roast their own beans & Moonbean’s got that independent, grass roots vibe with multiple little rooms & front & back outdoor patio’s! Been enjoying Espresso Macchiato’s here. Highly recommend!!!!!
Very cute spot.. nice place to go chat and relax while drinking one of the many coffee's and teas offered. You can also purchase coffee to take home. I wasnt a fan of the hot chocolate.
The drip coffee is to die for ! I am beyond impressed. Wish we had a place like this in New York City.
Cosy coffee shop with ample space to chat and two patios! Their mocha was great and the vegan baked banana loaf not to sweet and soft. Service was great too. The front space was crowded but the back is quiet and perfect to get some work done! I am definitely coming back to try one of their blended cold drinks in the summer.
Long line ups but it goes by quick. Friendly service and lots of variety of drinks. The coffee taste here is fresh and worth the value. Lots of seating area inside and outside. A good place that isn't always too crowded and loud to be at.
Great place to go relax and forget about your worries. Great staff. Great coffee. And the treats are a most have, always!!! A Kensington must!!!
Good coffee, great pastries, amazing staff. Kensington Classic. They also offer other drinks like smoothies, juices, and I’m pretty sure beer but not 100%.
Cute coffee place. But if you're looking for Brazilian coffee, not the place
The best cafe in Toronto. Atmosphere, legendary roast coffee, great specialty drinks as well as solid tradition. Going strong since the 90's. I buy all my coffee here.
Acceptable but not outstanding for a third wave coffee shop, my latte was a too hot which might have been due to the barista in training though.
This cute little coffee shop has the best London fog, coffee and treats!!
Coffee—serviceable, good, just what I wanted and needed Espresso—good, flavorful Cozy Blanket—the true reason for the five stars. I got it twice, I couldn’t get over it other time. I can’t wait to try and recreate it at home. The perfect winter drink. Plus you could add alcohol if friends want to get a lil silly. Thanks for introducing me to a delicious new drink! Also sitting on the steps in the early morning was lovely. They take Covid very seriously.
Been going there for years now. A gem of a cafe. The atmosphere Sparks inspiration, and allows flow for creativity. Wonderful place to meet people. And their coffee and tea quality is the best in Toronto. My favorite item on their menu is their vegan banana chocolate bread/cake. Yummmm♡
Very cute local spot. Coffee was delicious ... but we stopped in for breakfast and the group was really disappointed. Bagels weren’t quite what we expected (and the “bacon” is actually a pulled pork). Would go back for coffee; not the right spot for breakfast.
Best drip coffee! I adore their midnight dark roast, I buy coffee beans from them for my morning coffee. A vegan cafe- with so many delicious pastries and snacks. Drinks ofcourse are the best. Their coffees are aromatic and non acidic. No bitterness or aftertaste. Strong as I like it.
I love this cafe so much! In a city of minimalist hip cafes, this one feels like a smaller town’s cafe - with the quality of a city watering hole. The staff/owner are friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. Lots of seating too!
Best coffee joint in that neck of the woods. Friendly staff, prices are reasonable, the treats are tastey and they roast their own beans on site.
Great coffee shop it is a bit small but service was good here! And the food is great this is a cool place to get a snack and coffee or a hot chocolate
I visit this cute little coffeeshop every time we are in Kensington. Have had numerous beverages here over the years and my daughter loves the toasts.
Coffee is 3/10 in flavor and quality, but the room on the back and the backdoor patio kind make up for it. A nice spot to recharge when spending a day at Kensington market
I've been coming to Moonbean for years and it's by far my favourite place to get coffee beans. Their brewed coffee is good too.
I just love swinging by this place for a cup of coffee whenever I'm in the area! What a wonderful cute gem for coffee lovers! They have a descent selection of cheap+tasty coffee beans+loose teas. Highly recommend this place!
Blended Mocha is a iced drink that has a nice coffee flavour with a hint of chocolate! $5+tax
Very lovely, friendly staff. Awkward wifi, takes very long to connect. Indoor back patio and outdoor patio - very nice! The patios could use some sprucing up a bit to make it a little nicer but it is very lovely still.
My fav cafe in the city to sit and write. They don't face wifi on the weekend which sucks but it's a nice cozy spot for reading and working otherwise. Coffee and food are great prizes are your average independent coffee shop standard.
Love this place! Whenever I'm in Kensington Market, I stop in for a boureka and a "Cozy Blanket." The staff is super friendly. I really love the relaxed vibe here.
I love the feel of this place. It's the community coffee house. The coffee is excellent, the food great, the staff and owner always friendly and helpful with us. The atmosphere familiar and comfortable. There's very affordable parking just two doors east.
This is the epitome of a coffee shop, their in house coffee blends are phenomenal, I love coming here on my day off to sip on a coffee and people watch from their front patio. Awesome place, I reccomend this to anyone and everyone.
Best price for FRESH coffee beans. They keep'em in glass jars and they roast their beans weekly.
This is a popular, friendly and cheap place in Kensington for all sorts of tasty coffee and tea options. They even do some mill street 100th meridian beer and a few baked goods. Be sure to get a lid just in case every chair is taken. Have a walk around the market while waiting for your drink to cool off. Perfect for the winter weather.
I've been getting my coffee beans here for years. One of the original roast on premises cafes in Toronto. Great value on the beans, if not the best in the city. Lots of treats and a hidden patio out back.
Went in cuz it reminded me of moonchild by RM. Cute place. Took a star because the restroom is too small. Nice tea selection, will come back for coffee next time!
I dropped by this cafe earlier this morning. I really enjoyed the casual and comfy atmosphere of the place. I ordered a hot chocolate and it tasted great with a vegan cookie. The customer service was very friendly and prompt. I'll definitely be back!
Really good coffee and you can buy beans roasted in-house here as well.
One of my favourite coffee shops in Toronto. Great food and drinks, atmosphere and overall environment. The only downside (and reason why I knocked off a star) is the lack of wi-fi. It would make this cafe the optimal place for working.
So cute and amazing coffee! Love that they participate in the FOKM friend’s tab initiative, amazing way to give back to the community ❤️
I have been coming to this place for years. They have the best coffee in the GTA. They also have other things you would expect from a coffee place like espresso, cappuccino and baked goods. Love this place and its a place I really look forward to going to whenever I have some free time. I also bring all my friends and family here.
The drinks here are not very good. It the staff are really nice. I would stick to only coffee
CRAMPED. PLACE. TO SIT. But SO good in the morning with such cheery happy staff!! What a way to start my 7am. There's a tiny area to order and pour your coffee, you are almost always fighting people (in a polite Canadian way) when you're paying. I find the customers and staff here extremely welcoming. Again it's small and we're really fighting/shoving our way around each other in the morning. Remember, these people haven't had their coffees yet! Neither have I! Yet it's all ok.
I have the best coffee everytime I come to this store. Store feels like home and back patio is great during the summer.
Assorted quality grade A coffee beans, ethically sourced using small farmers co-op regions around the globe.
Great little coffee shop! Nice selection of beans and the barista is amazing. Coffee brew to the perfect temperature and the milk is just done right. Love the place. Really cozy and the staff is really charming. If you're looking for a place to chill and you enjoy a good brew, this is a must.
Often busy and a bit cramped [such is the price of popularity] and drip coffee is a bit unexpectedly DIY. But the quality and choice of coffee beans and tea is awesome. Inventive drinks beyond the caffeine-based -- and both sweet and savoury food. Quirky seating in the back and on the patio. Perfectly Kensington, though.
I’ve been here too many times to count and I’ll be their customer as long as I live downtown! Really cute place, everyone has always been very friendly and their back patio is perfectly secluded in a very busy Kensington market. Lots of drink and pastry options and I buy their ground coffee as well, all delicious ????
Great Americano, and if they improve the premises to go from run-down look to rustic, that might justify their high prices.
Great little coffee spot! No indoor seating, but yummy fair trade coffee. Lots of tea options too, the chai was made in house and was super good. Location is right in Kensington market so it’s a good place to refuel as you walk around.
Nice place, great first stop on a morning wondering around Kensington market. Taking off one star because the wifi password isn't written anywhere and the staff wouldn't say the password, instead they type it for you.
My favorite local spot to pick up fresh-roasted espresso. Also a friendly place to enjoy some fresh brew.
Had a truly excellent rooibos matcha tea best so far in Toronto. Beats the franchise coffee shops by a kilometer and then some.
Go here almost every day before work, very friendly staff and have great hours :) I usually get the rotating daily roast and am never disappoined.
I think this place has the best quality beans, the best variety of beans, and almost no shelf life so it's as fresh as coffe beans can get. A large portion are also organic and/or fair trade and/or rainforest alliance beans.
A Kensington staple. If you can get past the rough looking aesthetics you're always instore for a well made cup.
This particular place is a gem of a little coffee shop it's not the most fancy place but the Peruvian coffee is great. It was my first visit and I was impressed. They also serve loose tea in boiling water which I've never seen. The owner is Chinese. A great little place in Chinatown next to Just Hair a great place for a hair. It's in a reconverted garage complete with sliding door
Love the feel of the place and I'm very happy to be giving them my money. They are just not that tasty
Great place to get some good coffee. They even have fresh Jamaica Blue Mountain available
Great coffee, lovely pastries and friendly staff! Always like the ambiance too.
I love this place. I always order their cortado and a rugelach. I haven't been in well over a year because of distance but was glad to see the same baristas still working there. I know if I lived nearby, I would be a regular for sure.
I had a single espresso and a small drip coffee. The espresso had a medium acidity and a spicy kick. Assuming this is representative of Moonbeam, then I'd come back. It was interesting in a good way. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Compared to other coffee shops, I can see myself drinking Dark Horse espresso more regularly. Not as intellectual maybe...? The drip was solid. It helps that it was just brewed- I was the second cup in the batch. My LO had a hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles. Hers was not nearly as sugary as the Starbucks version.
Cosy coffee shop and roastery offering high quality coffee and many sorts of tea. Absolute recommendation!
Excellent roaster. Good coffees, both to purchase as beans, ground or brewed.
Such an adorable shop with amazing staff. My go to place!!!
Love this Kensington coffee shop .. they make a mean matcha mint chip smoothie ????
Chai tea latte was flavourless. Their other drinks looked good though.
Small, little cafe located in the heart of the Kensington market. Self serve. Very fast service and their biscotti is amazing!
It’s not much to look at from the street but go in and get really good coffee, fresh croissants and friendly service. Nice patio. I really like this place so I stayed for a second coffee. Enjoy!!!!!
Good coffee, must admit. There is nice selection of both savory and sweet quick bites. You can get smoothies, iced drinks and similar stuff like in any other coffee place these days. There are patios at the front and at the back. My only problem with this place are crowds and noise. It is not a place where I would go to have a quiet cup of java, do some quick work or jut have a chat with somebody.
Because of their Latte, I cannot drink Starbucks any longer... I work 3 days a week nearby, the staffs know me and I can get my latte without say anything. Love Moonbean.
Such a fantastic environment. And very tasty coffee. What a great atmosphere!
Nice place to hang and have a coffee., tea or hot chocolate. Worst croissant i've ever had!
My friend from out of town insisted we go there out of our way to get the coffee so it must be pretty good.
Cute place to share a cup of tea with a friend. There's also a quiet work area in the back. Prices are a little steep, but the place is adorable. There's Wi-Fi too!
Coffee is good but how the wifi works is a joke... you have to ask an employee to enter the password for you and it takes forever to get to the login page - wifi in coffee shop is such a state secrete!
Narrow but long shop even with a front and back outdoor patio switch sun shades. Comfortable feeling ‘local’ coffee shop offering all styles of coffee/espresso drinks plus sweets, bagels and bagel sandwiches. Not a full service restaurant, but a great place for a bite or morning meal. The breakfast sandwich was freshly made (nothing prepackaged) with light fluffy eggs. Impressive and worth the wait. Cortado- very good. The coffee shop had a constant flow of people; seemed to be a local favorite. Relaxed environment. Will come back again!
What an experience! Definitely a must stop for tourist visiting the trendy Kensington Market. Amazing friendly staff. Comfortable seating area or quick convenient to go area. Coffee is out of this world! Cold pressed juices are delicious. Bathrooms are very clean and well kept. Plenty of street parking available. Wheelchair accessible for pick up.
Staff are always friendly here. Plus, they've got a front patio, an indoor space for the cafe, and a very cozy outdoor back patio!
A Kensington Market landmark, you haven't been to Kensington if you haven't been here. Friendly efficient staff, really good coffee roasted in house from fair trade beans (at a reasonable price) yummy treats - with lots of vegan and gluten free options if that's your thing. Local artists display their work for sale on the walls. And it has a sunny front patio to soak in the neighbourhood.
I like this spot. They open nice and early. I'm not actually much of a coffee guy, but they have nice croissants and their healthy juices always hit the spot. You'll probably end up spending ten bucks instead of three, but it's the right sort of artisanal cafe you'd want in Kensington.
The Moonbean patio is prime Kensington Market real estate. A cup of excellent coffee, a little sun, people to look at and ponder, whether your preference is ruminating inwardly or looking out upon the world The Moonbean is a treasure
OMG, I love their hot chocolate. The staff usually are nice, but when they are busy, not so much.
Great coffee, fresh and had the perfect brew. I didn't get to try the pastries but they looked amazing. I wish the place was closed to me, I would go everyday for coffee
Cramped and chaotic coffee shop but amazing food and brews. Recent renovations expanded café area and great summer patio through the back . Self serve coffee batches are from small fair trade plantations and will set you back $2 for a medium.
Just incredible coffee and service! We are hooked!
Friendly staff in the best community in the city. Lots of vegan or veggie options. Big drink menu. Patio in the front and back. They let you bring your laptop and chill for as long as you want. Good vibes.
The best London Fog in the city! Staff are lovely, too.
Their iced latte is a must! Consistently great coffee and friendly staff. I'm a regular customer and will continue to be for a long time.
I always come here with my sis when we come down to Kensington market. The two same girls are always working and are very cute kind ladies. Even though I'm not a big fan of espresso I wanted something sweet so I tried the supreme which really satisfied my sweet tooth. Cannot wait to come back.
Great coffee and treats.
The lemonade is a bit sour but pretty good. Hot chocolate is ok. Nanaimo bar is the best. Great interior, good service and has a patio for the summertime. Definitely worth trying out if in the area!
Very cozy hidden gem. Excellent high quality choices of bulk coffee and tea.
Best coffee house in town hands down. The coffee quality is the highest you can ask for. Roasted in small batches for highest quality. Always a few organic options available. Great simple food options. Great desserts. Great patios. Great homey inside space. Great staff. Super nice owner! What else can you ask for?! I've been there hundreds of times and the place always delivers! 10 out of 10. Keep up the great work allen!
Great selection of in-house roasted coffees. Busy and friendly. The heart of Kensington Market for me. Excellent selection of teas too.
Love this place, the coffee and the staff. Its great if you need to get some work done or just meet up with a few friends
I have never been to this coffee shop until recently, went there three times in a row this week, ordered the same exact regular latte+size, charged three different prices each and every day that I went there. First day I was charged 4.69$, second day 5.37$ and third day 5.25$. It seems their price is based on the front desk cashier's mood. I have attached screenshot from my bank statement for everyone to see.
Favourite coffee shop in toronto. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Coffee is great too! Chocolate banana bread is my favourite!
Nice vintage looking café located in Kensington Market. The staff is always nice and friendly. Great place to buy coffee beans.
We have been buying coffee regularly from Moonbean for years. Best coffee in Toronto.
I'm constantly coming back here for my beans. Excellent staff, excellent location (Kensington) and, most importantly, excellent coffee. If you like zing in your beverage, absolutely try the Golden Milk. I can't recommend it enough. Exotics teas and other beverages available. Great London Fog. This place deserves your business.
Always good coffee and friendly faces. My first stop on work days in Kensington Market
Was pretty disappointed with my experience. It was my first time here and I was killing some time while my husband ran the lululemon 10k. I needed to get some work done so I was pretty much picking a cafe based on if they had wifi. I found the customer service was pretty terrible. It seemed like the barista was annoyed at me from the moment I walked in. It was 7:30am on a Sat morning with no line behind me but she was rushing my breakfast order. Considering it was my first time, I was not purposefully taking a little longer--I was just hoping to browse the menu. I took about 3 min browsing. I asked before ordering if the cafe had wifi and the response from both baristas was that there was. After ordering and sitting down, I asked what the wifi password was and the barista responded with, "we don't have wifi on weekends, just week days." My first question before ordering was, is there wifi here! It would have been nice to be forewarned that they did not provide it on the weekends. The customer experience affected my overall experience so it's hard to comment on the coffee and food. I would have appreciated an offer for the croissant to be heated. Otherwise, coffee was average.
Yep, Awesome micro roaster. And super good prices. not pretentious (bot make hipster quality coffee).
Hello! One of the best coffee shops in Toronto!! I go there to buy coffee beans, I go there for their summer patio, their smoothies/coffees are great!
One of the greatest café in Kensington market. Good coffee and cozy warm atmosphere. Good music.
Coffee is freshly roasted and flsvours are great. My preferred coffee place for beans in Toronto.
Wonderful little coffee shop. Good variety of brewed and beans. The snacks are also tasty.
Great place, great people and amazing coffee. Don't get fooled, there's more comfy seats in the back. There's also a spacious patio in the back for use during warmer weather
Best cafe west of Yonge Street. Interesting patrons, great coffee and warm staff. Been going here for years and have never been disappointed.
Great little coffee shop in the middle of the Kensington Market. They have a back yard patio in the back for those who prefer to sit outside, it's beautiful. The design of this place is beautiful, and the staff are super nice and friendly. The tea and coffee are also very good. I definitely recommend that you check it out if you're in the Kensington Market area
Freshly roasted beans , fair trade, small farmed selections, excellent loose teas and a long history in the market.
I have been here a few times, the drinks you can buy at the cafe are very good on that side I wish I could give a 5 star rating. But last time I went I also bought their brand of beans to take home and it contained multiple rocks which damaged my grinder.
Well the shine wore off my moonbeam today. First no wifi on the weekends? What the hell is that ? And then my banana bread was so dry I could barely eat it. Now I will have to find somewhere else to hang on a Sunday. Any suggestions for other col spots that may be a little more customer friendly?
A nice little place to get good quality coffee. One of my favorites.
Theey have a good variety of coffees, you can choose between light, medium and dark roast,. Also, you can have some tea (the variety is limited, but they have Vulcano flower tea which is very aromatic). The service is really good. It's always crowded and there's not too much room to fit people to pay. My coffee was bitter and tasty (the way how I like it). So if you have the time and you are a coffee junky like me, go there and have one cup or two of coffee
Small and cozy place with good coffee options, vegan food and good prices. The bagels are amazing!
Great coffee. Quiet little cafe. Wifi is shoddy at times but nice place to read/work
Awesome place as usual after all these years. Lots of non dairy/vegan beverage options as well.
Lovely! Excellent vibe, nice area, and they were playing some jazz classics, which made the atmosphere excellent. The staff were sweet, and the cortado I had was very good. There were some pretty interesting drinks on the menu that I'll be back to try.
Cozy cafe with delicious drip coffees and espresso based drinks. There are a few gluten free desserts.
Amazing Americano and cappuccino! The best! So good we went twice today ❤
Service was fast. Price is amazing for the quality of coffee. They ice frozen coffee for ice cubes, so your cold drinks won't dilute in this crazy heat we've been having. A must if you need a non alc pick-me-up in KM
