I specifically wanted Swiss Water process decaf. They had it and in fact the staff member I spoke to had just returned from a tour of the plant where the coffee is decaffeinated. Knowledgeable and friendly service. I only stayed long enough to pick up my beans but I was impressed with the comfortable, bright, and pleasant atmosphere of the cafe.

Wow now that smooth coffee. Had an oat milk latte and had a perfect nutty/cocoa aromas and was worth the drive. I had a little hunger and noticed Nanaimo Bars. My mom's bars are the standard and she makes the original recipe with butter. These were amazing as they are vegan. Even is there isn't that Yellow custard signature. I just felt energized and filled with happiness avec my last bit!!! Sooooogoooood

Leaves much to be desired. Stumbled in here and the two employees were seemingly astonished to see someone walk in. Asking if they had breakfast beyond the pastries displayed, the reply was similar to watching Windows Vista boot...loading...loading...loading.... we have "bacon"! Cool! I'll have "bacon" I guess. It was a wrap I discover, a cold one, but a wrap. I ordered a humble coffee and a wrap, and pay half my mortgage payment therefore. To the point, I've lived in Almonte, watched Equator in its humble beginnings grow and expand to a chain synonymous with exceptional coffee. It's a shame to see the potential in Westoboro squandered on a beautiful building with flat almost robotic employees serving limited, lack lustre and overpriced food. The coffee was as expected...

Best cappucino in the city? ;) yes this really is an independant review lol The cappucinos are pure smoothness and coffee heaven. Although the general crowd is hipstery with many macbook poseurs working on their "graphic design" or (insert other unique and creative)business haha but I actually love hanging out here. Maybe I really am a hipster too… *crying inside* Great space with plenty of light, and of course a people watcher's delight. All the staff seem genuinely friendly and even bring you your drink So far really pleased - keep it up guys!!!

Was also a little concerned with the barista putting the lid on with his bare hand. Little thing but in this time it's disconcerting. I just threw out my order as I walked out.

One of the cheaper nice coffee places in Westboro. The interior is really simple and homey - nothing too special about it, though. The servers are very kind, and the service is quite fast. Their chai lattes are to die for. Very good quality products. They even have nice outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Wifi connection available.

Things are slightly on the expensive side here (a wrap costs $7 plus tax and a mocha costs almost $5) but it's pretty worth it. The staff is quick and pretty nice. They've got ok selection of foods and drinks. Overall, Equator has a chill, relaxed, hipster feel which fits perfectly into the neighborhood's gentrified aesthetic.

I’ve been coming for a while now and enjoy the selection of the beverages. Although I’ve had times when the steam milk has been lukewarm and the order has been wrong. The food options are wide but weird (ex, blueberry banana oatmeal or almonds- just an odd comb). Also very limited in terms of food allergies. Most staff have been great and kind but there’s a few that were quite rude when they messed my order and I have brought up the issue. It was like a power struggle with the barista. I did not appreciate it especially when I’m trying to support the business.

Very nice iced cappuccino on a spicy day in early July. Atmosphere was simple and pleasant. Staff were laid back and also very pleasant. Bike racks out front and plenty in the neighborhood with bike paths and lanes to the door. Look forward to the next time in Westboro and looking for that ice cold caffeinated beverage to sustain me on the rest of my bike ride.

Really, really loved this place. Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops. The staff was super friendly and created such a positive atmosphere. The place itself is super cute with a few different areas all with a unique set up/feeling. The coffee, is some of the best I've had and I think their affogato is one of the best in Ottawa. Their prices are also pretty reasonable. Plus they have a gumball machine and what could be more fun than that?

Good drinks. Food and pastries are a bit expensive in comparison to Starbucks and Bridgehead. Been there twice. Service was a bit slow both times and it wasn't busy. Didn't find the staff friendly at all, they couldn't even offer a smile, a hello or even how can i help you? Just took the order. Not even a thank you! One bad day is ok or even expected, but 2 in a row? Not acceptable in customer service. Gave it a second try cuz i liked the tea latte and wanted a second, however the atmosphere makes it not worth a third! ***EDIT!! HAD TO GIVE PROPS WHEN DESERVED! Came back Saturday for another tea latter(cuz they are good) and the weekend staff is completely dofferent. They are friendly and actually seem to want to be here. It was a completely dofferent exoerienve rhan the orevious 2 weekeay visits. So would definitely recommend a visit to Equator on the weekend! Lol the oat mild is an excellent option for the lattes!

Edit: I decided to return recently, and am very happy I did. The staff were very lovely, the food is great, and the coffee is good. I would recommend the veggie breakfast wrap! Original review: Poor service. Myself and a friend went in, were the only people in line, and were not even looked at until the cashier finished his conversation with his co-worker. Once we were acknowledged after saying hello twice, the cashier was rude and abrupt, and shook his head and rolled his eyes as my friend pulled out her change purse to give exact change.

Could be great, the coffee has nice flavor, and I like the idea of supporting a small local shop. However, more often than not, when I order a latte or a cappuccino to go it is luke warm at best. I used to be fairly regular there, but I have stopped going because of the cold coffee.

Have been coming here since I moved to Ottawa. Bold, high quality and delicious coffee and a great team of staff. Lots of Vegan/GF options which is lovely too :) in my opinion it usually takes just one of these aspects to want to frequent a coffee shop but Equator has all of the above and more.

I love a smooth espresso, and I have yet to taste one more than that at Equator. They have all the various iterations of espresso and milk available, and carry alternative milks as well. I've noticed almond and oat milk, but there might also be others. They have a display case full of baked goods, most of which are gluten free. I don't know when I had this much choice at a coffee shop! The atmosphere is cosy. A lot of people are working on their laptops at the tables. If you can snag a seat, grab it! There is more seating the deck too. I highly recommend this place. Support local! Especially when it's this good!

Nice cafe, probably my favourite in Westboro. Excellent espresso and Americanos. They also have great in-house roasted coffee beans available for purchase and home use, and they will grind them to your specifications while you wait. It can be a little busy at times and is a tad on the pricey side, but overall is a great place.

This location is great! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The cafe offers a variety of options when it comes to seating, whether you’re being social or just focusing on your work. This is a bright and spacious coffee shop with a decent amount of seating arrangements and options. Equator has a range of drink options, both tea and coffee, although they seem to only have two coffee options on brew at a time (med and bold) - not sure if you can order a pour-over of your choice. - They appear to be child-friendly, with plenty kids books and a puzzle or two in the built-in bookshelf. - They have an extensive selection of pastries and desserts. - Yes, they have Wi-Fi. - The washroom by the side door is Gorgeous Bonus: they have free parking in the lot behind the building (off Danforth)! I didn't appreciate that their drip coffee was more expensive than Starbucks (in fact, most of their menu was on par or more expensive than SB), or the temperature of the shop. While I am one of those ppl who gets cold easily, I kept my coat on even with having a coffee. Also, I didn't notice any outlets.

Hip, trendy coffee bar aimed at young professionals. Pricey, but no more so than a Starbucks, and more genuine in its character. More importantly, there are very few places in Ottawa where you can reliably purchase Brezeln; this is one of them.

We stopped in on a Sunday for a quick coffee. The americano and piccolo had a nice flavour but were not too strong, they were delicious! As were the cookie and chocolatine. The space is nice and staff were friendly. Pretty much everything you want in a coffee shop.

They make a fantastic Americano! I was pleasantly surprised by the food selection and quality of their coffee products. They also have a wide selection of craft beers on hand. The facilities are very clean and full of ample and comfortable seating if you’re looking for a place to buckle down and get some work done. The only down side is their lack of accessible parking. There are literally no accessible spots in their parking lot, which seems to be filled with employee reserved spots. They need at least one accessible parking spot in their lot.

If you're expecting a good cup of coffee don't come here. Premium prices with instant coffee taste. The staff were not helpful and it took a long time to get served. I drink decaf coffee and many places almost find it annoying to serve you and this place is no exception. McDonalds have a better coffee at a fraction of the price. But many of the customers I saw in this joint would gladly pay more for swill than buy a coffee from Tim Hortons or McDonalds.

Great ambiance, friendly staff and fantastic coffee. Child friendly (they have activities for kids) it's not child dominated. Despite having wonderful coffee choices closer to home, we prefer to make the trip up to Equator. They also have reliable wifi.

I love Equator! The atmosphere is fun and inviting and the coffee in absolutely devine. I buy beans as well and make my own at home sometimes. Everyone who comes over asks me where I get my coffee and of course I tell them EQUATOR. My only suggestion would be to keep the Westboro café location open in the evenings. Many times I want to go later in the day or even after dinner but it is closed. I just can't get enough Equator Coffee!

I ordered some tea which was kind of expensive for the little teapot I received. It was organic so I suppose that is what I was paying for? I went there to work on an assignment however, many pf the tables are super tiny and low making it difficult to work on a computer or tablet. Additionally, there were no outlets that I could see to plug your device in. Very good service though!

This was such a pleasant experience, food, beverage and meeting wise. Equator has as charming hipster environment with clean dining-in areas divided by clear acrylic screens. Service is super friendly and fast. I had the very tasty "Jittery Chicken" sandwich which was delicious, I particularly liked the flavor that the coffee rub have to the chicken, will be ordering again on my next visit, for my beverage I had a pretty tasty Chai latte, it was really well executed and I was able to taste the cardamom, clove and cinnamon, my only issue was that I found it a tad sweet, which kind of challenged the perfume of the spices, then yet again that's my personal taste. All-in-all it was a wonderful experience and can't wait to visit again once that I found myself walking down Ottawa's lively and friendly streets. Kudos guys and thanks for the greater service! ☕????????????

This is my favorite place for coffee/tea in Westboro. I'm never disappointed by anything I try and have quickly developed favorites. (Chai latte is to die for: perfectly spiced, unlike many places where it tastes bland. Their breakfast burritos are also delicious!) The atmosphere is wonderful. I'm always surprised by how many people manage to find comfortable places to hide themselves away with a warm drink and a book/laptop. It's very easy to sit down with a friend and forget to get back up again The staff are also exceptionally friendly and considerate. I've had my drink brought over to where I've been sitting on several occasions. Everyone is very polite and welcoming. If you haven't stopped in to try this place yet, you're sorely missing out.

Equator serves a very nice coffee, but it's more of an atmosphere than just coffee. You have regular tables, high chairs, bars, and comfy arm chairs. Nice music, free wifi, parking is available, and it's on Churchill and Richmond. Caution: their baristas are friendly.

I like the vibe in this place. But, I visited them during weekend and asked for an Americano. In my surprise, they made it by adding a shot of espresso to 10 oz of hot water.. so basically a diluted espresso! This is ridiculous, as water needs to run through coffee beans/powder. Needless to say, the result tasted aweful. My suggestion, go for a Latte instead.

Garbage coffee. Had a flat white here and it was completely undrinkable. Coffee beans excessively over roasted and incredibly bitter. The chocolate fudge brownie was little more than a hunk of fudge, no brownie present. Given I review coffee houses all over the world to say this was bad is an achievement.

This place is one of my favourite coffee shops in Ottawa for so many reasons! First it’s locally owned and operated to the area, the staff is always super friendly and cheerful, my go to is the iced mocha as I’m not a huge coffee drinker but it is just so good and then there’s there sandwiches! Their veggie sandwich is without a doubt my favourite in town and they also have a delicious pesto breakfast sandwich which is just incredibly tasty and satisfying.

I absolutely love equator. The space, lighting, and overall ambience makes this a great place to catch up with friends or start your morning at the office away from home (such is my case). The staff are friendly, approachable, and down to earth. Their coffee and bar drinks are amazing. I particularly love their lattes and cappuccinos which are miles above the competition. They're smooth, silky, tasty and perfect. The breakfast sammies are delicious as well. Not to mention Chris (gm) is a pretty awesome guy. Good vibes all around.
