Equator is my go-to place for fresh roasted coffee for use at home. The coffee shop has quickly become a a favourite place to meet friends and colleagues. The staff are particularly bright and cheerful and the espresso coffees are wonderfull. They have a great selection of both sweet and savoury treats including excellent gluten-free options.

Location: In Almonte, which is about a 45-minute drive from the Ottawa core. Ample parking available (free). The place: It's quite big and there is ample seating indoors. They also have a patio set up. Since there was no room on the patio (and you couldn't sit down inside), we took our coffee to go. The goods: I ordered a Mocha and my friend had the latté. Both were delicious. From what I'm told, these guys have some of the best coffee around so I'll definitely have to come back and do another taste test. Service: Good. Price point: The two lattés were about $10 with tax.

Love, love, love the coffee here! I recommend the latte. The snacks are locally made and there are sooo many to choose from. Gluten free options here too. Definitely worth your time to check it out. I believe it won an award for they coffee beans.

I always enjoy the kale caesar salad when I come into town. Please please though, go back to mixing the salad ingredients prior to putting in the carton takeout box; not only is it messy and complicated mixing the salad dressing in the vehicle, having a plastic container defeats the purpose of using recyclable cardboard takeout containers! Also, if cash is not being accepted from customers due to covid safety reasons, (understandibly so) then cash ought not be accepted for the tip jar located outside with all the bills in it. Just adding my two cents on the subject.

On point. Our second coffee tour stop and we had just a regular filtered medium roast of the day. We've had their coffee before, but this is our first visit to their HQ. We will definitely be back for coffee school! My only suggestion - I couldn't find an events calendar on your website for the courses. We found them eventually on the front page though. If you love coffee, they have all the entry level equipment you need, and some awesome merch. I think my favourite was the Ottawa hearts coffee T. The coffee was smooth, the place was clean and well decorated with a good mix of indoor seating types to fit your mood, and outdoor seats. It hit more of our favourite day-day drinking tasting notes. These guys have a real connection to their coffee sources and they know their stuff!

I’ve been here a few times and each time, it takes a little longer than expected to go through drive thru (even with only one or two cars in front of us). Coffee has been decent but not amazing the last couple times (the Westboro one is 10/10 every time). Plenty of patio space which is lovely!

Mixed feelings. The coffee is tasty, but the service is ungodly slow. Dont get me wrong, i understand quality takes time but, after being to maybe 20-30 third wave coffee shops around the GTA, Ottawa, Montreal there really isn't an excuse for being that slow. One employee seemed to only be in charge of the grinder and espresso extraction, another only steaming milk. We should be looking at 4-5sec grindtime on the Peak, maybe 5 sec tamp, 30sec extraction, and then a quick wash, knock out the puck. Milk is max 30sec steam on a lamarzocco machine. So.. Its hard to understand why we had to wait 10mins (this is not an overestimate) for two small lattes. We had three drinks ahead of us. Oh well, maybe in a year when i come back they will have their workflow ready. Either way, coffee is tasty but slow.

People seem very friendly. I only had cash and they don’t accept cash during COVID. I only had cash on me for my coffee and a decent tip. I said I did not need any change and they still refused. The young girl working was very polite and said take the coffe anyway. I said thanks but that’s fine. The reason is they refuse to our cash but they have a jar to receive tips in “cash”. So they do accept cash.

I went to the Almonte location for the first time for a coffee brewing course. This was a nice way to learn about three great ways of making coffee at home.. French press, Aeropress, and Chemex. The class started with a tour of the roasterie and explanation of the process. Very cool. Johnny was a great instructor and clearly explained fundamentals such as roasts grinds and coffee to water ratios. Highly recommended.

The Good: we ordered 5 cups, an Americano, a Piccolo, a Latte, flat white and a drip. Really good coffee. Drove 30 mins outside town this morning just for it and they are worth it. The bad: there is not much in this category. The ambience is great, the barista was Uber friendly and helpful. The ugly: absolutely nothing. I would definitely recommend. Of all the coffee I have had in my life, Is this a place that I would be jonesing for some really good coffee? No. Is this better than most places in Ottawa or the area. Yes. Keep it up guys, you are doing great.

My husband and I recently went to this coffee shop for the first time but were quite disappointed. We ordered two falafel wraps and a coffee, which came to $34 (including tip). The wraps were very dry, as they did not have any sauce on them at all (usually when I get a falafel wrap it has tzatziki or some other sauce included). On the side were some regular potato chips, which didn't help with the overall dryness of the meal. In addition, my husband ordered a coffee with milk and sugar but the sugar was missing. Overall, we think that $34 for two wraps and a coffee is expensive, especially since it wasn't all that good.

Went mountain biking in the area and was hungry afterwards so I went to Tim Hortons not that far from Equator Coffee Roasters. While I was in the drive through at Tim’s I asked myself what the hell am I doing, I should be supporting a local restaurant so I googled the internet and I found Equator Coffee Roasters. The Cuban sandwich I had was as really good. It reminded me of the Cuban sandwich I had on a vacation in Florida.

I say all around because they roast their own beans, have great in house coffee and other beverages, have a tasty selection of treats (e.g. date squares) and even have some good meal options. They even have unique tea and coffee making equipment for sale like mugs, filters, grinders etc. And let's not forget that they will show case local artist. I appreciate the fact that they use Organic Fair trade coffee beans and roast it locally. In fact, after my own exhaustive search, Equator's beans are now a staple among my own at home brewing. The staff have all been really helpful and pleasant. Lastly, it is a really nice and inviting space to sit, chat and enjoy your favorite beverage. I highly recommend checking Equator out.

Great cup of coffee. Stopped here on the way to my parents place (we were tired of Tim's), and glad we did! Pleasant staff, not too busy when we were there, but I could see early mornings being busy. Two Americanos, very rich and smooth. Just what we needed. We liked it so much, we stopped again and even had a small bite to eat. You will not get a full meal here, but perfect for a small breakfast, or quick bite. If you're staying in, they will bring it to your table. Quaint sitting, and a fireplace, which would be more than welcome on a cold winter morning. They also hold brewing courses, in case you are interested. An on premises bean roaster smelled great, and is where they 'finish' their beans before grinding. Nice environment, clean and spacious. The bathrooms were clean, with some stories of where they gather their beans. Always nice to know the back story. Overall, very happy with Java here, recommend you stop in. Cheers, Jay

Very good standard of coffee and produce, but service can be poor. Had to wait over 10mins for 2 coffees because staff were too busy chatting trivially to customers instead of serving / making coffee. Very frustrating and disappointing as the produce is worthy of praise.

They gave me an outstanding nitro iced coffee for a reasonable price all things considered. If I were a regular, I would ask for less ice, but they are fair with this. I got about a third of a cup of ice. The service is very friendly, and we got through very fast. They do sell out of food pretty quickly though.
