Delicious French treats, awesome coffee and great staff in the historic Hyrostone market .

Great place, very clean and great service.

I say the following not lightly but absolute truth... the BEST bread I’ve ever had in my life! Beautiful lady working was sweet and kind... the bread amazing!!!!

Dark Matter Studios (Jonathan Parsons)

One of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. The service is always prompt and with a smile and the baked goods are outstanding.

Devin McPherson-McLean

Incredible café and bakery! Always warm and welcoming staff.

Dryer Of Doom

The food is awesome here, definitely recommend

Ian McKay

Perhaps the best cafe in Halifax. It serves Java Blend coffee from the local roaster, and had fresh baked bread loads available every day. But they go quick! Pastries, desserts, and samosas are also available in this charming location.

Allen Hall

Best pastisserie I know! Lemon custard, apple tarts, almond croissants, quick energy bites, supreme coffee, lattes, capachinos, espresso and more. Delicious for a quick and healthy lunch. Outstanding staff.

Kathy MacPherson

It is simply a pleasant spot to sit for a warm beverage and snack with a friend or alone. Fresh baked treats and breads available including sour dough breads.

Yvonne Cormier

This is a lovely café. I just wish they'd offer a few fresh gluten free items that are not School House commercial baked goods. These taste like sawdust. Once in a while I'd like a break from the pecora although these are lovely.

Maria Nemer

So cute and very tasty make sure to check out their garden it is precious

Victoria Shulga

Beautiful place with a cozy patio. The pastry is soooo good!

Noah Brownstone

Awesome coffee and great bread. Also, their almond croissants are probably the best croissants I've ever had!

Rawad Elias

Great coffee, huge cafe au lait, tasty croissants, and unique cinnamon buns. The croissant sandwich was tasty but a little expensive at $6.95. The cinnamon bun dough felt similar to the croissant which I found very interesting. Friendly staff, and a very cozy, warm cafe.

Alexandra G

Old world pastries, great coffee & delicious artisan al breads. A gentle atmosphere, friendly staff and funky little wooden tables & chairs. Nice quiet little garden patio on warmer days. A great place to chat with a friend or take your loved one to on a lazy weekend morning.

Mike Godison

The authentic cappuccino shop in Halifax, always bustling, don't miss.

Larry Baxter

Great food. Lots of space for quiet conversations. A neighborhood gem.

Marc Fournier

Delicious baked goods and great service.

Graham Young

Just opened and had only one pan rolls left and short of staff only one girl by herself, not her fault was doing a excellent job under the circumstances.

Basim Abu Rafea

Love the environment, you certainly get your money's worth. IMO, the best I've tried in Halifax.

Sandy Walsh

I think it really depends on when you catch them. I went late in the day and the selection and quality were meh. Will try again closer to when stuff is prepared.

Michael Langlais

My favourite bakery in Halifax - fantastic bread, delicious pastries, and really good coffee. They'll set aside fresh loaves for their regular customers, make sure you arrive early to get bread on the weekend!

Erin Hancock

Yummy. Similar or better price than other places too while being in a cute neighborhood and having an adorable atmosphere.

Gord James

Well below par for Croissants. Too dry and without much substance. French baguette is simple white bread shaped into a baguette and quite dry.

Aly Dort

Incredible bread, gorgeous patio and garden and impeccable coffee. Not to mention the staff are kind and lovely

Pam Carrington

We had our gender reveal cake done here a while ago it was amazing delicious beautiful the staff was so friendly and helpful would highly recommend

WonderWendy M

It's been about five years since we stopped into Julien's, and while it was largely the same, it was also very different. The little outdoor area on the side is much improved. A serene place to sit and chat with an intimate companion. Indoors is still the same crowded clatter that I remembered. In addition to the artisan breads and all the sweet treats, they carry samosa and pakora from Staff of Life (normally delicious in case you're not familiar) . We were looking for lunch so we ordered some samosas, plus coffees and cookies for dessert. The coffee was every bit as tasty as I recalled and the cookies were ok, but the samosas were only partially heated in the microwave before being served to us. So - some blistering hot bits and some super cold bits. Meh. I was ravenous and ate mine anyhow but my companion left most of theirs untouched. In spite of the amount of staff bustling around there were very long wait times to be served. The bathrooms are at the bottom of the stairs and I heartily object to the nasty thin scratchy toilet paper whenever I encounter it and I encountered it here.

Antish Gopauloo

Loved the chocolate tart, blueberry tart and the canel

Jenny

It's a great bakery for me as a home baker. I wish I could make my recipe bread in a place like this.????

Glenna Brown

This was my very first visit to Julien's. There was sanitizer at the entrance, proper spacing between tables. The pastries all looked amazing. I went for the almond tart. It was fantastic. The cafe was very clean and the staff were so friendly

Kai Leskinen

Oatmeal molasses bread is incredible.

Matt Trenholm

They know my order before I'm at the cash register. I love this place. Quiet and relaxing place to have a morning coffee.

Jessyca Reid

Definitely an exquisite little place. Delicious. Fresh. So many choices I was overwhelmed but so happy! Smells amazing and busy busy little spot even on early Sunday mornings. The staff was fun, courteous and respectful regardless of how busy they were. Lots of locals. That's how you know it's a good place. Most delicious moka I've ever had too!

James Murphy

Delicious pastries, good coffee, smiling helpful people and the best outdoor patio for enjoying life

Reese Morash

Julien's it's one of my favourite cafe's in Hali

Sofia Potapova (Niemand77)

Love to come by this place for an occasional treat :) There's something special about the atmosphere here. Love the pastries with a coffee and the customer service. Keep it up! :)

Mike Paynter

Lovely owners working hard!

Christian Muise

Excellent coffee and sweets; definitely a place to return to!

Lee Chiarizia

Julien's always has good coffee and the best European inspired pastries and breads. Always an excellent choice for light breakfast fare or picking up staples.

scott

Amazing Americano (my wife says the best!) Wonderful desserts and food! Latte tastes great, but needs to be hotter. You can always ask for "extra hot" if you are concerned about that. Love this place and everything about it!!!

Devin Kester

Great place. Delicious croissants and best coffee I've has in a long time.

Victoria Ruth Larson

I love to drop into Julien's Patisserie and Bakery. It has an impressive array of bread, sweets, snacks and a friendly, homey atmosphere. For me, it is always a treat when I can go there. I always buy bread which is fresh, attractive, nicely presented and the best bread I can buy! I love to have a coffee latte with some small food item, either a sweet which is always difficult to choose as they all look delicious. If I am hungry I would choose a sandwich of a salad. The servers are quite friendly and helpful, always. It is a real treat for me to go to The Bakery and to introduce friends to this delectable eatery with its cozy atmosphere and charm.

Melody Griffin

Great coffee. Trendy atmosphere with a nice buzz. Sweets were good but pricey.

Anna H

Best croissant sandwich! Very cute!

Ben Perry

Unbelievably good patisserie which dealt with the huge crowds for the Natal Day parade with aplomb. Well done!

Bobje

Coffee is always delicious, pastries are top notch! never been anything but happy leaving this place

David Major

I do believe that Halifax outlet has closed. The mothership is on Queen St in Chester where the atmosphere is like a tearoom and the light meals and sweets very tasty. The place to get quality sweet squares and cookies etc, assorted french cheeses and the smoked salmon on a Julien's bagel is awesome!

Heather Whyte

Great espresso drinks. Amazing baked goods.

Anna Fraser

Great service during covid-19, very good coffee, yummy treats, seating inside and out, in the beautiful Hydrostone area of Halifax.

Ken Parrett

Excellent coffee and pastries. Sat out on the patio...very relaxing and great atmosphere. Well worth the stop if visiting the Hydrostone area of Halifax.

Samantha Saunders

Stopped in just before closing yesterday. Staff were very friendly and the shop is so cute. I tried their rhubarb tart. It was so good! I will have to come back. I bought some bread too and can't wait to make a sandwich with it.

Islam Eissa

High quality baked goods and patisserie. The Almond twist is so good, you don't want to mist it. The tarts are very good too.

Shannon Langton

Julian's has a great selection of bread and sweets as well as select light lunch options. It's always a great experience.

Patty Morataya

Nice and cozy place. Good pastries

Dimitris Protsios

I loved this little bakery, big variety of bakery items and sandwiches. Nice coffee and tea options. Quaint inside and a nice small patio outside. The staff was very polite and friendly.

Marginalist Ma

One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. Their bread is always so fresh and tasty! I haven't been eating bread for years before I tried out theirs, and now I buy their bread whenever I can. Also, during the summer they have a nice back garden open where one can enjoy coffee in open air!

Ed Prior

We were on an organized tour of the Maritimes and our guide pointed out Julien's as the best French Patisserie in Halifax, so in our free time we had to come back. Coffee for me, tea for my wife, and a pastry for each of us - delicious. The pastries aren't sweet like North American desserts, more subtly sweetened as is common in Europe. We sat inside, but the day was warm enough that people were taking their coffee and pastries outside to tables on the sidewalk - you could almost imagine you were in Paris.

Gavin Mills

Delicious pastries and treats and a great atmosphere.

Jenn Embree

Delicious food, great coffee, can get really busy

Simon Branton-Housley

I noticed this very nice cafe when looking for a place to get a coffee and a snack before a business meeting. The baked goods very fresh and the assortment was surprising. I would definitely recommend visiting this over the chain coffee store across the street.

Paula Dube

Great pastry and coffee. Highly recommend!00

Maggie Giroux

Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Their food is unreal.

Ben Buck

Super nice staff

Elizabeth Weld

Lemon tarts and London Fog were both to die for. Staff were impressively organized with a long line.

Chris

Dry pastries, soft crust bread... Not even close to being a French Bakery. Disappointed.

Kels Mis

Really cute spot! Although I usually really enjoy this place I left feeling annoyed this morning. I was enjoying a nice morning on the garden patio in the sun when someone put the awning down getting rid of the nice warm sun on a cooler morning. I asked the girl to put it back up bc it was much nicer with the sun, she then said her boss put it down and left and she didn’t know how to use it. There were multiple people working and not one person knows how to use it? Why would the boss put it down in the first place? No one was complaining about the sun because I was one of two people on the patio. I will be back bc I do enjoy this place but maybe a suggestion to teach the staff how to use the awning, because it really killed the vibe this morning :(

Madesta

The pankora was incredibly dry. Would’ve benefited from a dipping sauce. The blueberry filling in the blueberry square tasted like soap. They didn’t offer or ask if we’d like our bread sliced. I was very disappointed in the experience.

Joanne Cho

I loved their french bakery .

Matty Gardiner

One of the best coffees I have had in ages. Thank you so much! Fine establishment

Maria Fernanda Gonzalez

It’s hard for me to understand why this place is sometimes busy when all the pastries are never fresh and the food is not good. I guess is because is the only bakery around. I wish you had fresh food and pastries on weekends as those days are usually the days people want to go for a coffee.

Timothy Morse

Good coffee from java blend beans, good breads and baked treats and confections... Also good sandwiches fur a quick lunch

Rob Woodburn

Great coffee and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Beautiful patio with lots of greenery to relax in as well.

Catherine Wende

I discovered Julien's Patisserie last summer on a family road trip to watch a parade. The hydrostone market area is a small shopping/ restaurant area of Halifax. A need for a good cappuccino sent me into Julien's. What a treat! My coffee was perfect but the assortment of pasteries was over the top. I was with three family members, thankfully, so we each picked a treat and planned to share each one. We all loved every treat and didn't want to share! I have made a point of taking friends for coffee there, as often as I can and have not been disappointed, just not able to make a quick decission on what treat I will pick this time. They sell a variety of pastries, bread as well as gluten free products. Outdoor patio as well as indoor seating is available if you want to enjoy the cozy atmosphere!

Anoop Shankar

Pricey croissants and pain au chocolat which were NOT light and flaky

Chelsea Stilwell

Lovely place with delicious classic patisserie. Their veggie samosas are fantastic (I got mine heated up!) and their lemon squares and tarts are lovely. They’re open for sit in too!

Caroll xo

Great atmosphere, great pastries and sandwiches, one of the few places in Halifax with ‘real’ croissants!???????????? Especially if you’re of European background you’ll know what I mean by this ;) Also wish they’d bring back the delicious roast pork sandwiches (from butchery close by) Coffee ☕️ is ok though could do better on the cappuccinos. They have the equipment the staff... all they need is the passion and true coffee lovers to create a good espresso or capp! js

Megan -Nicole

Pastries and bread are delicious. Customer service can sometimes be hit or miss.

Neomi Geraldo

Classic vibe coffee shop. ????

Susan Jenkins

Great location, view, atmosphere for enjoying hot Bevs and watching sunlight, trees, people. Beautiful bakery selection - both Boulanger and Patisserie. Quality worth the price which is premium. Gluten free options. Easygoing staff.

Kintogin

Sadly very bland. I got a blueberry tart and a croissant. Both look amazing. The place looked amazing. I was very excited to have both. But both where very subpar. I hope i was there for a off day but. I am very sad with what I got. Maybe the coffee is good. But I would not get the baked good. I really wanted to like them

Dan Brennan

Lovely little cafe with an outdoor alleyway patio. Coffee was pretty good too.

spit fire

Very tasty. Great selection of tarts, breads and other goodies. Staff very friendly and fast.

Brian Cottam

I just love this cafe, with their treats and freshly baked artisan breads.

Randy

The food was ok, the chocolate tart they have there wasn't a big hit with anyone in my party. I personally found that you overpaid for standard sandwiches and not stellar pastries. Despite my moving to the city I most likely will not find myself returning.

Bill Jethro Bagunu

Their pastries are delicious and their coffee is also good. I like this cafe.

Has Jalil

This place is delicious and makes the best almond croissant ????! Love the atmosphere and come from across town for the baked goods.

Janick Daigle

Their moka is the best one around and they have an original selection of pastries and breads.

Katie Enman

Huge selection of bread and pastries. Found it to be very expensive compared to other bakeries in the area.

Lily Hua

Great little french cafe and bakery. Great pastry and bread selection. Voted best bakery for a reason. Cute patio in the garden in the summer. You can order bread for pick up too.

Peter Miller

What a great coffee spot and bakery. Amazing pastries. Make sure to get there early as it fills up at lunch.

Katherine Ralph

Perfect place to stop for a coffee or meet a friend. It is a lovely little patisserie with pretty good coffee and a great assortment of treats to choose from. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Sascha Dupupet

Always enjoy the baked goods here. The sandwiches and such are good, but a bit on the expensive side, though I don't usually come for that sort of thing, I go for the baked goods.

Sharon Hallam

You cannot go wrong with a French bakery....the palmier yesterday was not up to standard....was made the day before? It was dry an devoid of the sticky buttery sugar that so defines a good Palmier. It was so incredibly dry and devoid of flavour that I had two bites and tossed them remainder into the garbage....I have had better at Julien's for sure. The chocolate chip cookies ???? were enjoyed by all.

Emily C

Best bakery in the city. I love the buttery tarts and crossiants. Come here for a taste of Paris. Hats off to the bakers who drive up here to deliver the crossiants and bread.

emmanuel devred

The bread is amazing, atmosphere friendly, the only BIG problem is that they would sell you day-old bread without telling you. This is a shame, had a party once, got the 5 baguettes bought that day and they were all staled, not impressed Following the review above, I was contacted by the owner of the bakery within 10 min of the review. He was very apologetic and said that it was a mistake from the staff. He ensured me that the staff would be reminded about day-old bread policy. He changed the baguettes with fresh ones, which were fantastic, and offer to reimbursed, which I refused, however, I left with extra pastries :)

Brenda Parrett

Great service, lots of good food to choose from and wonderful atmosphere.

Jane Kent

I like this charming cafe with geraniums in the window. Each time I am in the Hydrostone area I always stop at Julien"s for a cup of coffee and almond croissant. Very busy, but that makes this place even more special.

David Davidson

Great addition to any weekly shopping routine.

Ahsen Hussain

We normally buy 4 x 9-grain breads every 2-3 weeks. However your recent price increase from $5 to $6 a loaf will mean we look elsewhere. Please consider coming back to an acceptable price. We love your bread!

Nicole Davies

Great cafe. Friendly owner and staff. Their coffee has helped me through many mornings

R E

Pandemic update: lots of foot traffic and people dining in, during omicron. Lots of people sitting in, no masks. People that know Halifax come here, not the overpriced Starbucks across the street. This place is a French-style really chill joint with prices right on the money for what you get. Must have:canneline (french specialty), and a Cafe Au Lait. Fresh everything: Wide variety of rotating French pastries (though they've badly named their chocolatines as "chocolate croissants", sadly) samosas fantastic for a "real meal" in veggie and meat options, coffee excellent. You can even call and reserve a bread order. Just note their closing times - they're European style cafe, so they close around 1700. Internet is okay, but that's not why you're here. Just wish there was a maple-syrup Halifax Fog drink, but this place c'est 100% parfait.

Kevin Dunbar

Great store and very fresh pastries. The Pain Chocolate is the best in the city.

Andrea Modesto

Leamon and almond tarts are to die for! Coffee is alright.

Peter Church

Delicious pastries and baked goods. Well worth stopping in.

Kim Salter

Great place for several kinds of fresh breads and pastries. Located in North end Halifax in area known for the local buildings...Hydrostones. Beautiful small shopping area with adjacent park.

Tricia Bishop

Julien's is a little gem. I can't wait for the patio to open. great coffee that goes well with the Almond Croissant. Some Gluten free options as well. The staff are great!

Toby Field

Love the chocolate croissants and a dark roast coffee. Wonderful atmosphere and a great place to sit and read or watch the world go by

Michael Williamson

Great coffee! Great Food! Great atmosphere!

Mike Weller

Great place - lattes and raspberry almond twist. Yum.

Al Saunders

Amazing bread and sandwiches. Best caffee au lait in town.

Daniel Csoka

Latte was good and the almond tart was fresh.

okjo kim

famous bakery in halifax. I usually visited farmers market on Saturday early in the morning

David Elliott

I ordered a pastry that I expected to be a light and flaky pâte feuilletée but it was dense and soggy. When I complained to a staff member they told me it was made by a bakery on the South Shore. They appeared disinterested that (1) I was dissatisfied and (2) what was supposed to be a traditional flaky pastry was a hard soggy lump. I wouldn't describe this as my typical experience here, but there have been misses in their quality in the past as well.

Ajit Thakkar

This is a 4.5 rating. Great little place for coffee and a snack in the hydrostone area.

John Kennettle

Wonderful coffee and pastries. And a great atmosphere.

Dave T

A great little cafe on the hydrostone with great coffees, breads, and treats plus a lovely atmosphere.

B. F.

Their Samosa so spicy..Not fit my stomach

Junseok Chae (Young)

Actually, I don't like their products. For samosa and one more item, I and my wife felt bad, even though the taste was not bad. It seems like being made of oils of not good quality. The cakes were not bad but it doesn't seem special for me.

Daniel Rice

Delicious coffees and breads/pastries, it's a great place to meet up with friends. Try their chocolate croissants.

Mark Pineo (Thenamelessavenger)

Lovely spot, can't miss menu.

Kip Grasse

Great cafe, good food and reasonable price. Quiet family place, not at all like Starbucks

Jlenia Zago

Quiet (especially Sunday Mornings), nice and friendly place, I love to come here especially during weekends. Coffee is very good (I'm originally Italian so I can tell ????), it doesn't taste like it's burned, pastries are excellent and people very nice and friendly.

Kenneth Mackinnon

Excellent food and nice ambiance!

YJ Ji

Yummy!! They have really good pastries.

anne velemirovich

Delicious bread and pastries made here. The warm atmosphere is helped by the friendly staff no matter how busy they get!

Ahmed “AAA86”

Good spot to hang out n have a conversation. Most of baked goods were good.

Ben Hiscock

Staff were super friendly and service was fast. The coffee was a little lack luster but not tweeibte by any means.

Nozomi K

Nice to sit on the patio and have a bite with coffee. I have tried some of baked goods in a couple days and I didn't found my favourite yet.

NiceWishes

Their coffee is nice and tarts are awesome. Parking always full!

Bob Noakes

Great service, great sweets and the fresh bread is awesome

Donna J.

Always lovely pastry and great coffee!

Derrick Burhoe

I am adjusting my rating. I spoke to the owner who was understanding , transparent and very supportive ! I wish you the blessings and prosperity in your business, it is a beautiful spot , cozy with a great selection! ???????? If you walk into a business and you are greeted with eye rolling and signs. Then as you stand there waiting you are acknowledge with a curt are you ready, you might think ok this gentleman is having a bad morning. I understand! But when others walk in behind you and get greeted with hi, how may I help you with warm soft tones, you then ask yourself , is it the colour of my skin. My husband is German, so no I don’t have a chip on my shoulder. The difference was obvious in the way I was greeted by the gentleman at the counter and how annoyed he was by my presence. I wish him the very best and hope he never gets treated like that. Maria????????

Graeme Mitchell

Perfect pastries and coffee

joe murr

Amazing place to go good coffees and teas and some exotic pastries , breads. But lately things been a little over Bake that's the loss of the star.

Damien Croain Poulette

Nice place but 16$ for 4 chocolate croissant... Crazy!

JD C

Great coffee and baked goods. However, when we were there the line was quite long and barely moving, with only one lady frantically working the line while a numpty old man behind the counter just stood there without helping. We waited a lot longer to order because of this.

Julia B

This place has really nice, cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff and amazing treats. Everything is great. There's sweet and savory items. Great coffee and you can buy bread to take home as well.

Heather Dix

A wonderful spot for a speciality coffee and a pastry. Offers a patio for sunny warm days and a cozy interior for many not so warm days in Halifax. The Breton cookie was divine.

Lyndsay Hollett

Love everything from here! Cheese bread is to die for!

Dean Elliott

I had a coffee and a croissant on the patio. It was lovely.

Jeremiah McCarthy

Great food, Latte and warm friendly staff. I'll definitely go back.

Jane DeCoste

Pastry and coffee very good. Really enjoyed sitting get outside .

marcelle gibson

Excellent treats! Great variety of luscious goodies, and the oat and molasses bread is To Die For!

Kelly James

Great coffee and Morning Glory muffins. A beautiful spot to getaway for a moment. Welcoming staff and atmosphere.

M.E. Planetta

Best lattès and mocha, chocolate croissants are to die for...highly recommend!

Ruth Vandergeest

I find that sometimes their lattes taste a little burnt (I take almond milk). They always have an option or two that is very tasty for people with allergies.

Merin Ali

A little on the pricier side but amazing baked goods!

Marine Blanc

I was expecting a lot given the reviews but unfortunately the viennoiseries were not good and I guess not homemade. The butter croissant didn’t taste like butter and the chocolate croissant was too large for the small quantity of chocolate in it. If you want the real French deal, go to LF Bakery instead.

Merlincornwall L

Great coffee and wonderful fresh food, great helpful staff and a place to sit, what more do you need.????

Ashley Smith

Needs some fixing. Food quality not the best but quaint little place to visit

Amanda Kelly

Get the raspberry almond twist. It's my favorite treat from Julien's. I love the atmosphere in this cafe. Service is always efficient, but sometimes a little frosty. I forgive them for that because everything else is so good. One of my favorite cafes in the city.

Bertrand Thibodeau

A wonderful french café. They have g Nice light luch options suxh as croissant sandwiches and samosas. A few gluten free options. The patisseries are amazing as always!

Minji Jo

Great pastries! I love cinnamon buns and croissant.

Jay DeWolfe

Amazingly excellent pastries. Lovely staff, a little taste of France.

Hilary Boudreau

The pastries and coffee are very good but they need a new cd... the last three times I've gone (at different times in the day and stayed about an hour) they have elevator music playing.

Dormant Cyborg

Cozy gorgeous shop. Apparently it’s one of the neighbourhood’s favourite. Regular Baguette sold out before 10AM this a Saturday.

Alice O'Neill

Amazing selection of sensational baked goods. Friendly staff. My favorite place in town for pastries.

BL Smith

Good coffee. Good selection of treats. And good social distancing both inside and on the patio.

Rob Brown

Lovely setting, with a very European feeling to the cafe. The Americano is quite nice, and the pastries are plentiful in choice, and tasty. Music being played is often French or Italian of origin, and gives a lovely atmosphere. Great spot for some solitude, or a nice chat.

heather fitzgerald

It seems that unless you get there shortly after opening you are out of luck as far as bread goes. This has happened both times I've been there recently.

Jeff Goulden

Great spot to grab a coffee and a baked good. Recommend the almond croissant!

Janis Carter

Coffee was great, but by far the worse service I've ever had in Nova Scotia...out right rude!!

Dan Cormier

Fantastic baked goods a true gem of the city

Richard Carrier

They sell days old stale bread as fresh. I've given them plenty of chances to sell me fresh bread but in my last 6 purchases the bread was 3 to 5 days old and sold to me as fresh. I've no choice but to go elsewhere.

Yen Lieu

Didn't have any fresh baked goods when I went there one morning. Most products were still in saran wrap.

Ian Shepherd

Lovely food. Will be returning soon

Melissa Morris

Spent over $10 for a Breton cookie, slice of lemon loaf in plastic wrap and a slice of coffee cake. All were extremely dry. My husband threw out the dry coffee cake as it was inedible. Very disappointing. Will not recommend and won't go back.

Marjory Masson

Excellent individual quiches. Love the goat cheese/ham/mushroom one.

Daniel Greenblatt

At last some european style patisseri. great coffee!

Denis Dorion

An essential stop every time I am in Halifax. The absolute best bakery I have ever eaten at. Almond croissant to die for. Never been disappointed by anything.

Ashley H

Always an enjoyable break. The coffee is good, the sweets and pastries are always yummy. The fresh bread to take home is so good!

Llionna Marcus

I have a lot of allergies/sensitivities and am very used to just getting a hot drink and no food, as I usually have no choice, but there really was something for everyone here: gluten free; lactose free; sugar free; vegan; and (for the good old purists) full fat, real sugar, milky, good ol fashioned wheat based decadent desserts! It's got a kind of bright and cheery, rustic feel with a cute fenced-in garden area with water feature and bistro tables. I would totally go back.

Karen Cruz

I got a loaf of bread at Julien's shop at the Seaport Market. Sorry to say it was dry and going stale and had a harsh taste to it. I guess they sell their day-old (or older) products there? Anyway I won't buy bread there again… maybe the pastries age better.

Vern Butt

Wow, what would you like, busy place, where you can buy a great treat for yourself or your love one.

Alex Parkhomenko

Wonderful place - delicious pastry - warm atmosphere! I usually don't write reviews, but I am a regular customer here, so couldn't miss a chance to leave my review. Atmosphere is absolutely filled with warmness and cheerfulness - wonderful for bold morning coffee as well as cup of tea during the rainy day. Although the service might not be the most personalized, however only because it is partially patisserie shop and cafe, I am truly fascinated with the speed and accuracy of the staff taking great care of such high flow of customers. Not to forget their variety of pastry and bread products - you can always find something for your special moment. Thanks!

Brian Middleton

Good service, nice atmosphere. I had the vegetable somosa and Pakora. the Pakora was a bit soggy although I bet its delicious if you can get it fresh. The somosa was tastey but not amazing. They seemed to be out of most bakery items except for bread.(2pm). Worth a try.

Robert Inman

We were so happy to have happened on this place while staying in Halifax.

Martin Wigginton

Great coffee, lots of tasty treats to choose from, and friendly folks. Highly recommend it.

A&S D

Cute store from outside, very dirty from inside. White towels what staff using for cleaning bathrooms and floor , they using for drying dishes. If product fall on the floor, it's still need to be sold, or staff need to pay for it. If customer returned something, staff need to pay for it. If something moldy, it's go in the oven, added vanilla or icing sugar and sold like fresh.

phaed .tingley

Great baked goods. Have some sandwich selection but made ahead and i twice found the lettuce wilted. Fabulous breads. Selection of coffees .

Tim Feeley

Amazing breads and pastries. Great outdoor courtyard to enjoy in the nice weather.

zeliha Yahsi

Although the atmosphere is good , they never take care about the hygiene. The tarts are open without any lids covering and protecting the products while they are sweeping the floor. I ordered two tarts for both of my daughters and unfortunately there is hair ( like arm hair) on both tarts. I returned the tart with hair but the server did not care about my complaint and she added that they never use any lids to cover bakery there .She did not apologize or say even a reandom sorry which is rude and careless. Meanwhile an other server was sweeping the floor. I never spend my tome there anymore.

I was soooo disappointed with both the service, and baked goods I picked up today. Got a couple of soso croissant sandwiches, croissant a couple of days old, and some palm leaves. They looked appetizing in the show case, I didn't realize I would be getting the burnt ones from the bottom. They tasted burnt, and were dried out. I felt tricked. After supporting them for many years, I will not be going back.

Julian's enjoys an exceptional reputation locally and has for some time. There is free water and prices are what you'd expect. I personally find the coffee is brewed weak (I know who they buy their beans from and the beans are excellent), and the bread is always slightly overdone for my taste.

One of the best bakeries I have ever enjoyed; and I lived in France for some time, so that’s saying something!! This place has delicious coffee, incredible and varied pastries, and a really wonderful vibe of being an integral part of the local Hydrostone community. We ate breakfast here every day that we were in Halifax and I’m already dreaming of a return trip!

We went to Julien's and we loved it! They have lots of desserts. It is difficult to choose which one you will take home. We bought the White Sourdough bread and an apple pie. The bread is very soft and the crunch crust is delicious! The apple pie has plenty of tasting, the apples are very caramelized, and crunch crust! Wow! Sorry, we didn't have enough time to take the pictures for the apple pie... we ate too fast... ???????????????????????? It was a delightful experience. I really recommend them.

The 9 grain bread is absolutely delightful! The best bread I have ever had. Crunchy lovely crust but moist inside!
