You must have seen that its rating is practically the best one, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Cafe.
Good option for those looking for something a little different, both in terms of sweet and savoury items. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"
One of Halifax's hidden gems. I've been here many times and I am never disappointed. The food is always amazing, especially the hearty breakfast plates, and the owner is always warm and friendly. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
Great food and great service! If you are in Halifax's town and want to enjoy a great latino warm breakfast stop by here.
Chef Claudia has found a magical combination of ingredients whereby she produces the most amazing beans, salsa, plantains and eggs. Add them together and you have the Madurito breakfast. Something I could eat every day of the week and never tire of it. Every Damn Day. BRAVO!!!
This unassuming corner restaurant/cafe/store offers probably the best Latin American food in Halifax. The staff is super friendly and were accommodating as we were near the breakfast/dinner cut off and some of us wanted breakfast and some wanted lunch items. But they said no problem and we all got what we wanted. The food was excellent. Tastes just like the best homemade Latin food I've ever had. Every one of the six of us raved about the quality of our respective meals and cafe con leche. The ambiance is also incredibly well done. Simple, yet effective in creating a warm Latin themed interior with artwork and paint schemes that dried beans and seeds on display. Simply unparrelled among food options of this type. But the place also has a small shop for Latin American foodstuffs. Get your corn flour and hot peppers here! Also handmade Latin jewlery for sale!
Loved this place! It was so worth stopping in. Amazing arepas and a really cute shop (they even have Inca Cola)
(Translated) The food is delicious for being Latin, it is not Mexican, the prices are a bit high for the portion; that can leave you hungry if you attend wanting to fill your belly (Original) La comida esta rica para ser Latina, no es mexicana, los precios son un poco elevados para la porcion; que te puede dejar con hambre si asistes con ganas de llenarte la barriga
Great Latin food
Friendly, quick and inviting
Gone downhill over the last year. I used to like this place and hadn't been in over a year. Was in the area today so though I should go there with my wife. The fact the place was completely empty, literally, at noon on a Thursday should have been our cue to leave. From past experience we stuck it out and simply got a stare for reception. The service was simply as minimal as possible. While we were waiting for our lunch, a man walked in, asked for the washroom, was refused, and the proceeded to pee (yes, urinate) by the entrance with full frontal view. The staff didn't do a thing, they didn't mention a thing to us, didn't clean it up (if anybody was to walk in the restaurant they would drag-in more than water...) Anyway, there's more but that's ought to be enough. Never again for us which is too bad for a place I used to like.
Food was nice, ambience was cozy enough and the server was very patient and friendly. But the owner's a little rude. FYI taking photos of the place is not allowed and the owner told us off. Personally, we think the ambience is beautiful so we didn't understand why she didn't want us to take pictures.
Great food, fast and friendly service.
Very very nice, friendly staff. Empenadas were awesome!
Fabulous food and lovely shop in the back. I get all my chiles there.
If you haven't checked out this gem of a restaurant in North end Halifax (located on the corner of North and Agricola), then I recommend that you do. Delicious and authentic Latin American food, and a very colorful and very atmospheric ambiance. This place has a lot of character and the food is very good.
This place makes you feel in home and the food is delicious
Meal type
One of the peninsula's best kept secrets. Authentic Central American cuisine with an attached Latino grocery (it's the only place I can find masa harina regularly). Prices are just right! So yourself a favour and dine in for the cozy space and decor.
A little piece of South America in Halifax.
Service
Food was very delicious but it was a little expensive for the portions. The menu didn’t have too many options to pick from.
Always a great place to have a taste of home!
Delicious and authentic Latin food at super affordable prices!
I love this place to go have some arepas and empanadas
We enjoyed a light, simple breakfast with fresh ingredients and lovely coffee. Fragrantly spiced, with not too much heat. Modest portion sizes, which we liked.
Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious! The table tops are worth examining! Waitress was awesome and explained the food we asked about. Some of the products they have for sale in the front are familiar to Mexican food lovers! A place worth trying!
Their food and service is truly outstanding
Excellent service. Great food.
Quick and friendly service. Nice decor with impressive plants! Really nice portions for the price. Decent wait time for the food to come. Nice small coffees that come with the meal. Diverse menu items that leave you full for the day! I would 100% recommend this spot. There's about 8 tables so I could anticipate that it fills up quick. We came early on a Sunday and it was quiet. There's also a grocer on one half with a mix of sauces, preserves and drinks- lots of dried goods.
I don't have words to describe the food, is absolutely delicious.... ????
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service. There's nowhere else quite like it in the city!
A friend introduced me to this place for breakfast the other day and I was BLOWN away. Honestly the best breakfast I've had in so long. Runny eggs with melted cheese, salsa and cilantro on top of seasoned black beans and crispy plantain that adds just enough sweetness. The atmosphere brings you to another place- music, art, plants. It's a perfect spot with friendly people.Authentic flavors. Can't believe I've walked by it so many times and didn't go in. Do yourself a favor and try it!
Lunch
Loved this place! Went for a late breakfast, the coffee tasted great (although a little pricey), and the food was truly delicious. I will definitely be back. My only suggestion would be to remove some of the larger signs on the door so it's a little more inviting to those walking by.
If you look up "hidden gem" in the dictionary, it will just be directions to Cafe Aroma Latino. This place really has everything you want. The atmosphere could not be more cozy, the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the service is great. There's also a nice little shop in the front where you can pick up a bottle of hot sauce or a treat on your way out! If you're looking to have a brunch in Halifax, skip the line at Cora's, drive right on by Pur and Simple, and park your keester at Cafe Aroma Latino and treat yourself to something really special.
Aaaahhhmazing food. I cannot say enough about how good this was. And the owner is super friendly. I want to eat there every day.
Great little place. Very interesting breakfast menu. You won't be disappointed!
Came here for a first date after being referred by a friend. The food was flavourful, the coffee was great, and the staff and owner were very friendly. Will definitely be back!
Very delicious food in a friendly environment with great service!
As a mexican living in Canada, it's hard to find products and authentic food from home. This place brings that and more... It's cozy, beautiful and familiar. I have no words to describe how much I loved it.
Cozy place with great service and fantastic food! Will be back for sure!
Lovely vegetarian options, kind and attentive servers. Cozy and welcoming vibe, well spaced out tables with a warm atmosphere. Small latin grocery shop in the back is an added bonus!
Fantastic store and cafe, wonderful food and outstanding staff!
Good service, good food!
Great food, price and staff!
First and last time. Two beef tacos with unchewable beef, (not ground beef) odd, distasteful sauce and ingredients, all wrapped up in a very small wet flour shell. A waste of $10 Worst "restaurant food" experience I remember.
Great breakfasts, the chorizo is spicy and tastes great
Fantastic. Good change from the standard diner breakfast you get in the North End.
(Translated) The best restaurant in Halifax. I will visit again :). The woman allowed me to practice my Spanish too! Food is very tasty, and all the people here are very nice. Thanks! (Original) El mejor resturante en Halifax. Yo voy a visitar otra vez :). La mujer me permitió practicar mi español tambien! Comida es muy rico, y toda las personas aqui son muy simpaticas. Gracias!
great food, service and coffee! lovely atmosphere and a treat to visit!
Delicious food and nice little grocery store attached. Try the Papusa and soursop juice.
Loved every bite. Hospitality was wonderful. My only regret is not having been sooner. An absolute must try.
Warm, cozy and welcoming spot serving a delicious range of Latin American dishes. Lots of veggie options and they are willing to modify non veggie dishes as well.
If you aren't going here for brunch every weekend than you have a void in your soul that you didn't know about.
Food was tasty, however being gluten allergic it ended my afternoon, evening and night into miserable pain... Even though I stressed the gluten problem, I totally forgot to ensure it was cooked in a dedicated gf space/fryer... It ended up being a miserable experience for me...9 hours in, and I just wanted someone to put me out of my misery ???? I feel 7 years trying to live with food being pain-free shouldn't be this hard in 2020 and Covid ????
If you're craving something different than the usual eggs Benedict then this is one of those gems that you shouldn't miss out, it's a small place but don't be fooled. It's got a big heart and the atmosphere and the people that work here have always been awesome. Ordered the hot fruit tea, coffee, the qasadila and more. Highly recommend it and would definitely be coming back.
Coming from Texas, if you're looking for anything authentic in the way of tortillas, hot sauces or for goodness sake tamales, this is your place. They have just enough to keep the Texans sane here in Halifax. They are always friendly and helpful.
I am a regular here and can't seem to view my old review on here. What I will say now is that Claudia's breakfast soup (whether eaten in the restaurant or as takeout) is one of the best soups I've ever had.
Dine in
Delicious and traditionally made ????
Ordered a party tray of Empanada for my daughter's birthday party. It empanada was good but a little bit bland for my taste. Also, it seems like it was not made fresh, more like frozen then thrown into the deep fryer. I would still give it 4 stars for the presentation and the sauce that goes along with the empanada.
Beef Quesadillas and Madurito Breakfast recommended. Thanks for accommodating my lactose intolerance. This place also has a nice little food shop with hot sauces, Goya products, dried peppers and tortillas.
Super delicious. The service is forest and the decoration is very authentic. Great experience all in all. If there is 6 stars to be given I would :)
Cheap, not very good to be honest.
Great taste of Latin America!
Food was good. Cheap prices. All fresh ingredients. Authentic Mexican, Argentinian etc. Recommend you go with a few people and order different things and then you can try several dishes to see which ones you like best.
Cozy little restaurant with an awesome SA grocery inside. Awesome breakfast options. You'll want to come back to try them all!
Really super good food, will be back.
I ate here quite a few times and I had pleasant experience. Try her churros with ice cream. She no longer sells some foods on the menu and it would have been nice if I was able to try them. The owner seems nice.
One of my favorite places in the city. Amazing Latin flavours from various regions presented beautifully by a Red Seal certified Chef.
Great atmosphere and food. Friendly service.
Loved the food

After living in the north end for almost a year we finally tried this place out and are kicking ourselves for not going sooner. We've only had takeout but are looking forward to going once they're open for dine in again. The chorizo is incredible. The arepas brought us back to our South American travels, and they have been very friendly at every meeting.
Always great affordable food and nice folks
Amazing place! Great authentic food!
Absolutely delicous
Love the grocery items, their beans are so good!
rude staff.
Amazing place food is spot on the specialty coffee is amazing and the empanadas is a must
Super nice authentic joint with a great grocery section where one can find a surprising selection of specialty products and imports. Will definitely go again. ????
Delicious food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere
Awesome little place with the friendliest staff and the best empinadas ever! Highly recomended!
(Translated) Good taste, maybe the price is a bit high (Original) Buen sabor, quizás es un poco alto el precio
Some of the best food you'll have, without a doubt. Lovely, quaint atmosphere, amazing paintings. Divine food, good wholesome option, not too price sensitive.
I had the chance to dine-in, before the whole state of emergency thing and I only have compliments to everything I had tried. The staff are welcoming.
Awesome authentic Guatemalan food at a great price. Lovely atmosphere with Guatemalan art. Owner is a coffee expert trained in Columbia. Highly recommend.
Very good breakfast. I wish they could make more kind of empanadas
Delicious food! Amazing atmosphere! I felt like I was in Colombia again!
My wife and I were looking for a cozy space to grab breakfast ahead of a long day and this place was perfect. Great service, great atmosphere and delicious food. Will definitely make it a place to go every time we are in Halifax.
Excellent empanadas! The potato was nice but the chicken were top notch. Staff and service were super friendly and fast. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the eclectic styling. Will definitely be back!
I had often looked at this spot through a bus window as we drove by, but had never visited. I am so glad now that I did!! The owners are so gracious - amazing service and food! They had the distancing thing down pat. We got there about an hour 15 before closing and they were full. While we browsed in the store, they came out to tell us that they had a table if we still wanted one. The Tamarind juice brought me back to the south and the Passion Fruit juice brought my friend back to Mauritia. The food is perfect for sharing or on your own. We had the QUESADILLA MEXICAN, SHRIMP TACO, MEXICAN TACO, AREPA COLOMBIAN (quite different from Jamaican Bammy made from Cassava but really tasty), CHURRO WITH ICE CREAM for dessert. Every bit was scrumptious. At a time when travelling doesn't suit, the vibe of this lovely place made me feel like I was. Their gift shop has beautiful hand made jewelry and purses, spices and sauces, juices, Mexican Hot Chocolate, guava paste (great for making latin style pastries with cream cheese), and much more. This is not just a restaurant - it is an experience. We will be back!

Everything from the food to the furniture is exceptional.
