One of very few go to spots for me and my wife, Ivan's has the best overall poutine in town (some places have better fries, or better gravy, but this is the only place that has at least a 7/10 on each possible point). They are one of the few places actually giving you a real burger, and not some flat piece of meat. The food is by far worth the excellent price point, especially when comparing it to larger sit down venues that have the same caliber for a higher cost.

Always a family tradition to stop at Ivan's when we're up for the summer. The staff are very attentive and the view is nice when you eat outside. A particular favourite are their milkshakes, chocolate, in particular. The last time I was up I tried their fries and they were wonderful. Thick and with just a bit of salt, they went well on their own or with ketchup.

Best pogo I've had in my life. Period. And let me tell you what, I've had pogos from coast to coast. I would consider myself somewhat of a pogo connoisseur, and the batter on this pogo was just ????????????Poutine was also fantastic, 10/10 would visit again when I'm back in beautiful North Bay Ontario. Disclaimer: I was with a really cute girl that I like so I might have been biased and already super stoked.

Went to Ivan's for breakfast while I'm North Bay for a weekend. Giving 4* because the price and value is quite exceptional! We had eggs Benedicts for less than $10 and a 2-egg breakfast for something like $6. No doubt this is the cheapest restaurant option around. Taste was okay. Would probably not go back but wasn't bad. Just a greasy diner-type breakfast that you can easily replicate at home. I would suggest if you're looking for a cheap option and not wanting to cook at home.

3 pm is not a busy hour for them but my glass, which was almost empty by the time the food got to us NEVER got refilled when usually I don't even have to ask. A server came out and asked if everything was ok about 5 minutes after the food got to us but NEVER came out again even though we were one of only 3 customers in the restaurant and there for roughly 40 minutes. Then found out that they ”have been charging for refills” since the beginning? no. Every other time I've been there I've never been charged for a refill. Not at all impressed.

Great little restaurant. The prices are good, and so is the food! The tables are set for a max seating of 4. This may mean if you have more than 4 guests, you can't eat all together. You have the choice of eating indoors or outdoors. The chicken fingers were very good, and fries were hot! I would recommend.

It all started with Madison the hostess taking our Order down asked for a club sandwich with the bacon well done which we got!!! We also asked for a Montreal smoked meat which was perfectly prepared no fat!!! We asked for a poutine to die for and fries golden cooked with Gravy to swim in was so awesome!! Had a delicious lunch at a reasonable price. Every part if this meal was spectacular. The classic blue slushy tasted just like it should, the poutine(fries curds and gravy) is in a league of it's own but what really stood out for me was buffalo sauce that is made inhouse and one of if not the best buffalo sauces I've ever tasted. World class quality, with a classy, modern and comforting atmosphere. All topped by the professional, pleasant and hard working staff. Thankyou for a delicious, Canadian experience.

However it does feel more like a take out place rather than a sit down restaurant, having to order at the counter and wait for the food to be brought to the table with a number given to us. All in all I would recommend for decent food with decent prices on the go.

We come here semi often for the Putine. It's a nice restaurant with an easy going atmosphere.. great for kids or so we thought. Those who have kids 3 and under there is no change table. In either bath rooms male and female. That kills it for us and our 7 month old. As soon as this is fixed I'd be more then happy to change my review. Place was not busy yet I watched as other people who ordered after we did got their meals. I had to remind the waitress that we were waiting a long time. No apologies from the staff. When the food arrived it was not what I ordered. Still no apologies. I get mistakes can happen, I get a few mistakes can happen, but not apologizing is just bad customer service. This place is popular. I guess folks in North Bay must not be used to actual good customer service.

Food and customer service is really good. Need to put some care on phone orders, they will tell you food will be ready by 30 minutes, when you show up you have to wait another 20-30 minutes. It’s like they start making food once you pay for it. What’s the point ordering food through phone.

Best fish and chips I had in years. Fish tastes very fresh with crisp batter perhaps a tinge too thick for me but thats the style and what many like. Its still crispy on the outside and moist and delicious flakey on the inside. The chips are also a highlight as they are thick and taste fresh, no small or burned turds.10/10 on the fish and chips. Came back for a burger and poutine next day. The burger was fairly tasty homemade patty, maybe a little too thin for the nice bun and toppings. Slightly dry but again notning too noticeable. My bun was slightly burned on the edges but not enough to get another one. The poutine was awesome with very generous portions of fries gravy and curds. 8/10 on the burger and poutine. Cant wait to stop by here another time to try the other stuff.

Best food ever. Classic poutine and the same pronto recipe that's been served at Ivan s forever! My boyfriend and i went, and he tried the turkey burger. He insisted I try it, and it was amazing!! It was seasoned to perfection, on a wonderful bun. What a timeless little spot. Keep up the good work guys!!! Homemade hamburger patties too!!! It truely is a north bay tradition :)

Great poutine! One complaint though... they charge over $2 for a relatively small glass of fountain pop and they charge full price for refills! For the price of the fountain pop they really need to have free refills for dine-in customers. It's kinda cheesy they do this so I probably won't be back as often.

Came from out of town for a second time to north bay, first time eating here though. The BEST little restaurant you could try, I wish I had more of an appetite so I could try more than just their delicious burger and Greek salad. Hats off to the chef you cook a mean burger my man ???? the staff that helped us was very friendly and patient as we made up our minds for what we wanted to eat, and the staff that served us was also very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. The neon lights added a nice touch without being tacky. Will definitely be back!! Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!

We went to Ivan's restaurant, At 1867 O'Brian St. North Bay, Ontario, at Aprox 12:10-12:15 pm On Friday September 10 2021 As We have for Many Years. We were waiting in Line when a male went Right past Everyone in The line up & proceeded to Place his order, the cashier Didn't correct him, I Said "Excuse Me, You just Cut right in front of Us!" He proceeded to berate Me & was extremely rude, then stated I was rude & My Parent's hadn't taught Me any manners, etc., so, of Course, I started to give it Back explaining it was rude To cut in line & DON'T speak of My Parent's, he kept cutting Me off, Berating Me & saying he didn't have time to wait in line, I said "& We DO!?? You're very rude & Disrespectful..." he got combative, & continued to speak Derogatory to Me & NO ONE SAID OR DID ANYTHING!!!! When it was Our turn to order, I asked the cashier why she hadn't said anything to let him know We were first, she said "I'm not getting involved!!! Are you going to place Your order!" I said "NOPE! We will go elsewhere!" & walked out, I went back in to request to speak to the manager, the same cashier said "I'm the Owner!" I said, "& You allow people to cut in front of Other's??? We WON'T be back, EVER! & you have now lost A LOT of business!" & I turned to the obnoxious male & told him he was a Disrespectful A$$HOLE!! & walked out! I have been A LOYAL Customer of Ivan's for 30 Plus years & recommended them to EVERYONE!!! I will NEVER recommend them again & I WILL Be letting EVERYONE know About how We were treated, Like second class citizens & that they allowed this very rude male to treat Us 2 females Like We were NOT Worthy Of Respect!!! So, I gather social distancing Nor covid protocols are No longer in effect at Ivan's restaurant as We were standing back awaiting Our turn to Be called up & he just ploughed past Us & went straight to the cash with his mask below his nose!!!!

Absolutely delicious! The wraps and sweet potato fries with chipotle sauce is so yummy! The milkshakes are to die for! It is A great lunch spot for on the go or to sit down! Would recommend calling ahead of time and ordering your food if you are taking it to go because it can take a while.

I have always enjoyed going to Ivan's. Their food is good and service is decent. Don't order anything for delivery though. Twice in the last 6 months I have had food delivered. I paid $8.50 for delivery and it took an hour to get here! The food was cold. Very disappointed.

The amount of times i bought a family sized poutine here and been asked if i want 4 forks and i go "only 1" was enough some staff were able to recognize i didnt need 4 forks ???????????? I absolutely love their food and their Breakfast poutine, as well as their Ivans poutine, is one of my favourites on an early morning get up. There was 1 day a long while back where i quite literally did an all day and a night shift. Absolutely exhausted and probably looked the part. I ordered my food with water but one of the ladies came over and poured me a coffee and said it looked like I could use the pick me up. Didnt charge me for the coffee, but i always remember it --- and continue to come back as i most definitely needed that coffee! Its the little things, no matter how small the gesture that can really make a lasting impression They got that retro style dinner feel going on and even a jubebox that on occasion is working. If passing through north bay or been there all your life - its not that far off the highway either to stop by and have a couple bites ????

I got the bacon cheese burger and a normal poutine the burger was quite delicious but the poutine was bland and normal. Service was meh because the cashier gave me the impression that I needed to hurry up. Even when there was no line. Everyone else was very nice. I'd recommend this place to friends and family.

I've never seen a place that is Famous for Poutines go with Shredded Cheese as a default. A poutine is served with Cheese curds. Not only do you have to pay EXTRA for the curds, but it isn't default by option. The new management and owners seem to be more concerned with what they get put into their pockets then they are concerned with their reputation as one of the best Poutine's across Canada. I have in fact lived from British Columbia, all the way to Quebec and every province in between. They used to compete with some of the best Poutines ever made, this even includes all the Poutines that are made, during Poutine Week in Montreal (2nd week of Feb.). Not they are Mediocre at best. SERIOUSLY gone downhill in the last 3 years.

My wife said the Reuben was the best she has ever had. I had the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich which is as good as any deli sandwich I have had in Montreal or NYC. Pronto Pups live up to their reputation.

Ivan's is an excellent little diner. All the staff are friendly and the service is pretty quick. They do great breakfasts, burgers, wraps, home made pogos, but they are best known for their poutine. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot of the strip mall they are in can fill quickly which makes parking a pain. However this isn't their fault and I certainly don't blame them for it.
