I used to live in Toronto. And I would order Indian food everywhere but moving to North Bay, when I found out there's only ONE Indian Curry House I was worried. THANK GOODNESS FOR IT! The BEST I've ever had, almost everytime. Just comes to prove you don't need to be in a huge city to get the best quality of food.
I love Indra's Curry House! Every dish is full of flavour and always leaves me wanting more. I often order the Butter Chicken or Chicken Korma with Onion Bhajis or Pakoras. I am never disappointed by the quality of the food. The staff are friendly and are able to assist you in choosing what types of dishes go best together.
Best curry ever along with incredible phone service while placing our order. We will be back. It was hot and delicious. Thank you. Well done. More businesses should answer the phone and serve the way this business does.
Indras is our favourite Indian place ever. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in Ottawa and none of them even come close to Indra's. The food is so fresh and consistent every time we order. I would eat there everyday if I could!
Incredibly delicious and filling food, always more than satisfied with what I order. The service is extremely warm and welcoming and the restaurant itself is gorgeous and very clean. 5/5 would recommend.
So thankful Indra's Curry House is literally less than a minute walk from where I live. I've ordered from here multiple times and their dishes NEVER disappoint. Friendly staff and the cooks are magicians. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great great food! Lovely atmosphere, a bit pricey but you get your money's worth! Not a big space for eating in, but it us cozy and warm and filled with the smell of great curry being made. If you love curry this is the place!
How can you not love the food at Indras If you know anything about Indian food you will appreciate Indras Freshly cooked and A very good host if he's on duty (Billy Idol lookalike) Unlucky for me I haven't had chance to get my fix for a while but when I do I always order extra just because I could eat here forever. No I am not linked in any way to them I just love the food and trust me I have eaten Indian food in a few countries and many places in those countries. Yet to find anywhere north of Toronto that does it this well and consistently. If you are putting this place down you don't know indian food and should stick to poutine and pickerel LOL
Medium was crazy hot!!! 15$$ for a pretty small portion. Like a 10" pizza. Authentic food but real pricey. Didn't put napkins nor a fork in either. Wouldn't go again.
The food here was amazing! We had the vindaloo, korma and curry all made with chicken done at medium spice which is recommended. The naan bread was fresh and big enough for 2 people to share. I was disappointed in the vegetable pakora as it only contained 4 in an order and somewhat overcooked but still tasty. The accompanying dipping sauce was delicious. It is a take out establishment with operating hours of 4pm to 9pm. You want proper indian food, go to this place!
Quick service....taste is on point. Portions are good and prices are fair as well. Employee took their timr with us and we were served in a timely manner, he gave good recommandations as well. Spice is on point. Glad I stopped there
Their serving sizes are small, and everything is overpriced. Our biryani was bland even though we requested it to be very spicy. Too bad there are no other options in North Bay. Perhaps the cooks should go to some Indian restaurants in Toronto to learn how to spice things up.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. They use fresh herbs and spices that makes you feel like you're eating in India. I would recommend the Dinner for two special. It gives you a nice a variety of dishes. Perfect for a date! We love really spicy food so we always ask for our food to be extra spicy but they can make it less spicy for those who like it more mild.
Even though there is no dining experience, it's like a takeout place or you can eat standing up, the food is really good. I love the samosas and garlic naan, I'm glad North Bay has somewhere to go for decent Indian Food. The city isn't known for variety.
Wish I could give this no stars. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. We decided to order the Dinner for 2A. It sounded good. When calling to order it we where told it was very popular and it was a lot of food for 2 people. About an hour later we finally got out food. After the delivery cost of the food and delivery It was $57. Now the onion bhaji was cold, and full of grease. The chicken Tikka masala had almost no chicken and was a very oily sauce, the tarka daal is just mushed up lenels with some spices, the rice was super dry, yellow (not sure if this was supposed to be some flavor seasonings) but it was extremely bland, the pompadoms where good but would have been better if they didn't get smashed in the box and broken into multiple little pieces, and the naan was burnt on one side and party raw dough on the other side. When calling in to complain some guy comes on the phone stating he was the owner, after arguing with him for about 15 mins and being called stupid and a cheapskate for complaining about a $50 meal and telling him there are other reviews who have complained he said that anyone else who has complained online are just spiteful idiots. He finally agreed to bring back our money after they closed which was at 9 and he would be here at 9:30. We waited up until 11 and no one came. The following day we called back only to find out that the person who claimed to be the owner is actually the owners son. When speaking to the actual owner we where told that she would send someone up to collect the food and bring back our money. We where just about to head out so we told her if they could give us about and hr we would be home. She agreed. We ended up not going out as our daughter was not feeling good. When calling back the restaurant all we kept being told is that the owner was busy and she would call us back. When we did finally get the owner on the phone she told us to bring the food down, we explained that our daughter wasn't feeling good and that we shouldn't have to go out of our way to bring this food back as that is why we got delivery. She said that it wasn't her problem. After a few more calls she answered the phone and told us if we called back again she would call the police. This is not how a proper restaurant owner should behave. We work hard for our money and to decided to take a night off of cooking and order something in.. whether it be $10, $50 or $100 you should get proper food that is still hot, and is cooked proper. And not have to argue with a restaurant about the food that you are paying for. Do not go to this restaurant unless you want to argue with a owner who threatens you with police for having your own opinion and wanting your money back for food that was not properly cooked.
Nothing in this whole country comes close to Indra's cooking (and I know! I've searched ????). the style, taste, and love that goes into her food is literally worth driving hours to enjoy. no premade garbage here. family owned (Indra, George, Raven) and run with genuine hospitality.
Amazing.....Really traditional and authentic Indian food.
We have been ordering from Indras ever since they opened. We were extremely excited as we absolutely love Indian dishes. We are seasoned travellers and relish in dining a la carte at Indian restaurants. Although Indras is not an a la carte venue, the dishes are very tasty! I gave Indras three stars based on price escalation (9.95 for two samosas) and small portions. I called to diplomatically express my opinion on the matter and was told by the "gentleman" (pardon the pun) answering the call that I should not expect prices to be the same as Toronto as in Toronto, samosas are not homemade. (???). I urge him to do a bit of research prior to giving unfounded answers and to invest in people-skills training. His non-professionalism was confirmed upon reading other reviews. Unfortunate.
Service was slow, I ordered from 5 items on the menu that wasn’t going to be spicy. My meal was so spicy it made me choke, my eyes watery, runny nose I had to run out cause it was so bad.
A little worried about this place. Just read a review saying they possibly are tracking down people who give bad reviews,
Amazing Indian food! Had my expectations and it far surpassed them! Worth every penny and very friendly service! Will be back soon!
This is the stuff. Not sweet - which I love - the curries are savoury. Butter chicken has such a great flavour with bits of meat to give the sauce more texture. Some of the best Indian I've ever had
Writing this review without ordering the food. Because we spent half an hour to decide which food we want to oder and when we called voice message said we are open from 4 to 8 and their Google business page and website says they are open till 9. Update your business page and website
This is the best, most authentic Indian food I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Everything is freshly made, so you'll be waiting. But, it's well worth the wait!
Awesome food. Our second time around at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. If ever you are in North Bay I strongly recommend that you try the food. You will love it. Guaranteed!
What a suprising place to find an AWESOME Indian food!!! Place is small and cozy ( mostly intended for takeout customers, u still can dine in). Food is fresh and made with pride... Owners are friendly and inviting.... as a foody, will recomend this experience to those of u who appreciate quality food... priced fairly - THANK YOU!
Amazing authentic Indian food. A bit on the expensive side for our local market. You get what you pay for, the food is fresh and flavourful.
Awful, DO NOT ORDER take out from this restaurant! The food is good sure, but every time (last 3 specifically) I have ordered the order is late (2 hours today!). When you call they always say they are busy but it’s because they contract out their delivery, which also charges you the wrong amounts! They say they will make sure to make everything right next order, and it’s believable if it wasn’t twice in a row where they did nothing then charged me more for the same meal. I love Indian food and frankly at $100 pet order for my family of 4 I will obstain from this restaurant going forward as the service if honestly that poor.
This place has great variety of dishes to choose from. The food was prepared according to my taste, the portions were big enough for 4 people. Service was also very quick. Keep up the good job guys????????
Visited North Bay for the first time last weekend. My friend took me to Indra's curry house. Let me tell you this: Best Indian food I have ever had. I'm from Toronto and there are tons of options here. But this place tops all places I have ever tried!! The food is definitely tasty and authentic and portions are fair. On top of it all the staff is super friendly and on point. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great food!!
Disgrace for Indian cuisine. They serve literally FRIED RICE which they call biryani. Burnt naan, pretty sure that’s not what we ordered...stay away
I'm a sales rep on the road. Coming through Northbay looking for Indian food. The reviews look good so I ordered. To say that this was probably the best Indian food I've ever had would be an understatement. The Fresh real Naan was off the chart. I'm jammed.
Dal Makhani was really really Good, the only thing they need to improve is order checking before delivery as our pappadom and pickle was missing but on taste part and quality as well as quantity i would give them 9/10. So love the food.
The food truly exceeded my expectations. I have never had authentic Indian food before and I was NOT disappointed. This is some of the best food I've ever had, hands down. Pricy but totally worth it. Portions are huge. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for great food but wants something different. Total 10/10.
Please please please eat here. I want it to stay open so I can order from them again when I'm back in North Bay. I've eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. I would love it if they made it easier to eat in, but the takeout is fantastic regardless.
Food is amazing! Takes a while, but ready within the time frame given. Garlic naan is soooo good.
First time eating here and came away very impressed. Food was excellent, and spice was bang on. Friendly staff and we will most certainly be back. Thanks guys!!
I just ordered the chicken biryani with a side of mango chutney. It is definitely the best indian food I had in a very long time. If you ever stop by or around north bay and have an indian food craving, this restaurant IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!
I had cravings for Indian food and this place was awesome. I ordered butter chicken with garlic naan. Everything was so delicious! I'd definitely come back if I have the chance.
Food is great. Friendly good amount of food for price.
Please call before hand to order. This is a take out counter. We ordered onions bahjis, with veggie korma and tarka dhal, and naan bread. Everything was flavorful and delicious. The portions are quite big, we have many leftovers. Would go back on our next visit to North Bay.
Recently have been asking for a certain dish and after giving my name they would suddenly say it wasn't available. The last time I went to pick up the order, after paying for it, and in front of other customers who were waiting, I was told I could never get that dish again as my friend left a bad review. I was shocked, embarrassed and also a little creeped out feeling I am being tracked. She needs to work on her customer service skills. There are other ways to handle this situation. This is how they get bad reviews!
Tried Indras for the first time because my in-laws from the UK were visiting. What a great find. The Indian food is authenticate and my in-laws found it better than the UK curries. That says it all as they have curry 3 to 4 times a week from restaurants they love.
Food was excellent. Order ahead, they are busy so expect 45min to an hour for food order to be ready for pick-up.
Absolutely spectacular food-every single dish. Such consistency and delicious veg options!!! Highly recommend. Thank you so much!
Great food, I order mild, med is too spicy for me, although always delicious. Garlic Nann is great and mango chutney fabulous The good is home made by Indra and the quality is excellent
The best eggplant bharta ever across Canada!!!!!! Portions are huge and so well priced. Would eat this everyday if I lived here. So very yummy!!!! 10 stars!!!!!
Wish could give 0, ordered 3 hrs before and won't get it on time and on top gave dal tarka instead of dal makhni, and butter chicken wasn't butter chicken seriously, I can make better then this if I get time. Sorry about customer service they charge alot for delivery and even after picked by ourselves don't want to get rid of those charges, 2 dishes for $32 ,insane, beware of them
Just had the best Indian food ever! Portions aren't huge but truly the very best we have ever had. Will be back 100 percent.
I ordered the chicken biriyani and to be honest it doesn’t even remotely taste like one. The food was ok quality but this is definitely not biriyani. Have tried the curries from here, taste good, expensive but ok good.
I never enjoyed Indian food until trying Indras, I am from here on out going to be a regular. The flavors of the food are absolutely amazing, the atmosphere is great, and the customer service is impeccable. 10/10 Recommend to a friend. Worth every penny.
trying food for the first time from Indra curry house very disappointing. they have set-up to high prices where quality and quantity do not match the price at all. It's all due to no competition but not accepted. after spending so much you still regret and have to order again from another place. never visit this place again.
An Absolutely delicious and authentic Indian experience. Definitely recommend!
Dal Makhni and vegetable Korea were both full of chillies and there was no other taste. We ordered medium spice level and I have never seen so much chillies even in full spice level in an Indian restaurant.
The food is delicious and I will not fault them for it. The prices are not good. 16 bucks for a dish of butter chicken is ridiculous. There are restaurants which are all you can eat for that price. There is also a ridiculous $7 delivery fee. Drive to Sudbury and enjoy better and cheaper Indian food with buffett options.
Amazing family run establishment providing the finest Indian cuisine in the north for over 20 years. My all-time favs on the menu right now; Veggie Paneer , Basmati rice & Poppadom. And although I'm GF now, the Onion Bhaji was once a fav and the garlic Naan is a must have. I've outlined a few of my favs but have tried many items and it's safe to say, try ANYTHING you won't be disappointed. Word of caution, let them know your spice preference... Please note, this is a take-out only restaurant but hopefully one day they expand to offer a full sit down restaurant dining experience. Well, what are you waiting for? Order today!
Just had Indras for the second time and the food is amazing. Strongly recommend the lamb tikka masala!
Food is overpriced, overcooked mush that all tastes the same, but it's the only semi decent Indian food in the city. Seventy dollars for two dishes and a couple of naan is outrageous. They try to save money by putting large potatoes in dishes that shouldn’t have potatoes. Male employee is a loudmouthed jerk who mocks patrons that are gluten-free. Hours are unreliable because they often close early. They need to update their menu. Rental properties this family owns are a disgrace.
Whenever I get takeout, it’s always Indra’s! As a vegan they make it very easy to order food without animal products, they have very fast and friendly service and the food is always hot and so delicious!!
Best Indian food in town. The garlic Naan fresh from the tandoor makes my mouth water. Delicious entrees with a unique flavour!
