Chose this place to start our NOTL adventure day. Quaint and charming. Loved the vibe! Sat under the umbrellas in the back garden while we planned our day. The girl at the counter was wonderfully nice and inviting. Great way to start our fun day!
Came across this place while staying in NOTL this week and I wish I had one closer to home to visit regularly. Great aesthetic on the inside and the outside of the coffee shop. Good strong coffee with many nondairy options. 100% recommend.
Pretty much what you’d expect from any Balzac’s franchise - the location is smaller and less fancy than most other Balzac’s, but the coffee and service is good. There’s a decent amount of patio space as well.
Very nice customer service! Thank you Ana for your hard work. They have a good selection of drinks, the pastries there are pretty good as well.
Delicious fresh made coffees, specialty coffees, teas, and small desserts in a quaint old 1800s building. Great service. Best coffee shop with tables.
My first time at a Balzac's in Ontario. They have one of the prettiest takeaway cups. I was drawn to that on the streets with people holding the cups and asked them where that came from. Was the first customer in the morning around 7.08am on Tues Aug 27. The staff didn't seem very enthusiastic and looked rather annoyed when I walked in. They also didn't greet me when I walked in though they seem to greet the following customers that came after me. Not sure why. Coffee was good and carrot cake wasn't too bad. A little pricey in my opinion, but I don't mind paying if the service and quality of food are on par with what they are charging. Overall a pleasant experience except the staff could improve on their service. Plus, they seem more interested in watching videos on their phones and chatting/laughing loudly amongst themselves when not serving customers, and the vids were also pretty loud. Not a good ambience for a branded cafe. I don't see Starbucks staff chatting loudly amongst themselves behind the counters when they are on shift and watching vids on phones while at work. Maybe Balzac's MO is different and staff culture is more relaxed. But it can be rather distracting for customers who want some quiet at a cafe in the morning.

Been ordering their coffee for a couple years now, and it's amazing. The only brand I regularly buy. We went on a short trip this week, so we stopped in on our way through (and back). Such a cool cafe! Tons of cool mugs, and very friendly staff! Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for coffee.
Came here just before closing and staff were super helpful and patient while we decided what to order. Went with the cafe canadien and an iced americano. The cafe canadien was more sweet than I like but will know for next time. Both absolutely delicious. Love the vibe of the cafe; wish we went earlier so we had time to sit out in the patio. Will be back. Please open more locations!
Service
One of my favorite coffee shops and it was a pleasant surprise to see one in Niagara on the lake! My favourite blends are the Balzac's blend and dark affair! Highly recommend!
We found this coffee shop while strolling around the historic city of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It had a warm and nice vibe to it. We ordered a hot chocolate and a latte and they both were worth praising. If you are visiting the city it’s a must go to place..!!
Always my favourite coffee place to visit when I’m back home in NOTL. Delicious oat milk latte and beautiful cafe! Employees were not particularly friendly but still a nice atmosphere! Happy they were open despite new lockdown restrictions.
Stopped at Balzac's coffee on a quick motorcycle trip to niagara on the Lake. There is a large menu with both hot and cold coffee drinks with some other non coffee options as well. I got the iced americano and it came to $4. The coffee was delicious and I enjoyed it at the seating right out front with a great view of the Prince of Wales Hotel. I would definitely recommend stopping at Balzacs if you're looking for a great Coffee Spot in Niagara on the Lake.
Finally had a chance to check this place out! A great variety choices in coffee grounds/whole bean. Definitely a hidden gem.
Sweet spot in the city. Great service and coffe
2020.09.10. We found Balzac on Niagara on The Lake. Great location in the historic old town of NOTL. I had my regular hot Americano. They have seating outside. Lovely view. Flowers everywhere. We grabbed a coffee and walked the area and all the stores. There is a parc nearby too.
Dinner
Decent cafe. We had a coffee and Parisian Tea (London Fog). Both were ok.
• Neat cozy shop. Great coffee and milk-based frothed deliciousness. Would definitely recommend after a nice lunch in the near restaurants or just for walking around!
Nice place, and specialty coffee. They are very nice and friendly ! Best coffeeshop in Niagara in terms of quality !
Service
I took my 10 year old son to this place in Courtice, Ontario. Well worth the trip from Pickering. My son had a "Peanut Bludder Hot Chocolate" with a Scor Biscotti and I had a "Peanut Bludder Coffee Late" with a fabulous brownie. Both drinks were size "PG-13". Other available sizes PG & Rated R. Brad & Jess were excellent servers as well as helpers. Store was brilliantly organized and extremely cool. My son absolutely loved it and we shall return like Jason ????
Lovely place and friendly baristas. The girl who speaks Spanish help me to choose the ideal coffee for me. My coffee with vanilla was great. Thank you!!
Creepy and beautiful cafe! Would recommend. Have to taste their pastries! The mask selection if spooktacular! ????

I was passing By the Niagara lake so I stopped for a coffee and the very nice waitress told me the lemon tarts were to die for so I took her advice and Oh man it was Soooo good! and the latte was very good also.. it’s definitely a place to checkout if you’re in the area for the good service, Good coffee and pastries ???????????? Thanks again for making my morning ????
Great coffee shop with the coolest decor. Definitely a must stop for anyone that enjoys creepy oddities.
I had an AMAZING experience at the Niagara on the Lake Balzac’s location thanks to my wonderful and kind barista Rachel!! She gave me the best experience and really made me feel at home. I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area, and definitely ask for Rachel for the best cup of coffee :)
I really like the place. I am regular there. Their coffee machine is finely tuned and operated by experienced baristas produces one of the best cappuccino. However today I decided to try mocha and was greatly disappointed. Instead of adding chocolate syrup they just use regular chocolate milk. So it the same cappuccino just with different price tag.
Ordered "Haunted House" coffee. Was really excited to try it out. I like to support local business. Unfortunately it was the most bland coffee I've ever had. Literally like coloured water. I emailed Deadly Grounds letting them know. Maybe I got a bad bag or something. I have yet to hear back. EDIT: In response from the Owner My apologies for confusing you regarding the name. I use a family computer with the browser logged in already. Does that clear it up or would you like a more in depth explanation? At least we agree. Putting this in the public forum is a good idea Here's my offensive disrespectful email, word for word. "Hello, I got a bag of haunted house coffee and I gotta say it is one of the lightest tasteless coffees I've ever had. I think someone performed an exorcism on the flavor. It says it's a medium blend but it is is way lighter than that. Even with extra scoops its like coloured water. I just wanted to let you know. This is my first bag of coffee and I have to say it's a poor first impression. Thanks" I still stand by my "haunted house" analogy, the flavor was exercised from the coffee. I'm baffled as to why a company that uses the same literal analogies is so melted when similar is used to explain the quality of the product. As much as I appreciate the useless advice on what I SHOULD have done to appease your response and the thorough explanation of coffee preferences, I'm not the one who sold coffee a customer that was consumed by about 5 people who unanimously agree it was one of the worst coffees we've had. Your lucky they don't give you 5 more 1 stars I've been drinking coffee from various places around the world for 20 years, I'm not sure how I can tell you its worse than Maxwell without hurting your ego? Based on your response, and lack of I See your customer service is about the same quality as your coffee.
Like everytime I visit one of their locations, my quick passing by the Balzac's coffee located in beautiful and historic Niagara-On-The-Lake a few weeks ago, was a great experience. Even though I opened the door of the beautiful heritage building in King Street only a few minutes before the closing time, there was a smile on the faces of the baristas. They answered my questions, suggested me beverages, and many times apologized because they were out of the nitro cold coffee (silly me expecting that there will be still some of it after the sunny Summer day we had that long weekend). When my crazy photo session started they invited me not only to take the pics but also to be sure to post them... ???? This time I had an affogato and purchased a few bags of selected coffee beans (I am in love with the LAS ROSAS one) and indulged me with some merchandise (coasters) to continue this amazing experience at home. Cinq étoiles ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Simply amazing! If you are in this town and if you love coffee, you cannot skip this place. They serve the best coffee in town and have the kindest people who make it. Anna served us and she made some amazing coffee and also we had fun chatting with her. Even the other hostess was very friendly. I tried the latte and it was toooo good. Highly recommended and see you soon!
Anna was amazing. She served us and gave us recommendations that were very great. Her energy was brought us in high spirits.
Arguably in the top three cups of coffee in Southern Ontario, and far exceed that of the major coffee chains. I had the Iced Lavender Latte, which was fabulous and almost breathtaking, along with an additional latte. The cup of coffee is perfectly brewed, smooth and fresh. This is a must-stop for anyone visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Great place for handmade gourmet coffee and tea drinks, vast and original collection of grounds and teas to go. The staff is really friendly and nice. The theme is so spooky and different! We drove out here on a Sunday morning and it was great! Made our day!
